On 5 October, there were 143 combat clashes on the frontline.
The occupiers launched 57 airstrikes and dropped 119 guided bombs. In addition, russians engaged 3,890 kamikaze drones and carried out 3,013 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, Ukrainian defenders repelled six russian attacks, two of which are still ongoing. The enemy launched seven airstrikes, dropped a total of 20 guided bombs and carried out 154 attacks, including nine from multiple launch rocket systems.
Towards Southern Sloboda, 11 enemy attacks were stopped near Vovchansk, Lyptsi, Synelnykove, Kolodiazne and Kutkivka, and another such attack is ongoing.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy carried out three offensive actions in the vicinity of the settlements of Kupiansk, Petropavlivka and Stepova Novoselivka, fighting continues.
Towards Lyman, russian invaders attacked Ukrainian positions 13 times near the settlements of Shandryholove, Ridkodub, Seredne, Novoselivka, Torske and Drobysheve.
Towards Siversk, the Defense Forces repelled eight enemy attacks near Hryhorivka, Serebrianka, Siversk, Yampol and Dronivka.
Towards Kramatorsk, the enemy carried out one unsuccessful attack on the position of our defenders in the area of Predtechyne.
Towards Toretsk, russians attacked the Defense Forces positions ten times. The invaders concentrated the main offensive efforts in the vicinity of the settlements of Shcherbynivka, Toretsk, Poltavka, Rusyn Yar, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Ivanopillia; two clashes are still ongoing.
Towards Pokrovsk, the invading units tried to break through Ukrainian defenses 44 times in the vicinity of the settlements of Volodymyrivka, Shakhove, Zolotyi Kolodiaz, Rodynske, Zvirove, Nykanorivka, Chervonyi Lyman, Promin, Lysivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Dachne, Myroliubivka, Mykolaivka, Filiia and Myrnohrad. In two locations, combat clashes continue to this day.
Ukrainian soldiers neutralized 126 occupiers, 79 of them irreversibly. 33 UAVs and one vehicle were also destroyed, in addition, Ukrainian soldiers hit seven shelters for enemy personnel.
Towards Novopavlivka, the enemy attacked 23 times in the vicinity of settlements of Sosnivka, Zelenyi Hai, Vorone, Sichneve, Yalta, Piddubne, Novomykolaivka, Ternove, Novovasylivka, Novohryhorivka and Verbove. Two clashes are still ongoing.
Towards Huliaipole, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations, but carried out an airstrike on Zaliznychne.
Towards Orikhiv, the enemy carried out one attack in the vicinity of Novodanylivka, which was repulsed. The enemy carried out an airstrike near Stepove.
Towards Kherson, the enemy made three attempts to break through the defense of our defenders, which were repulsed. The enemy carried out an air strike in the area of the settlement of Odradokamianka.
In other directions, the situation has not changed significantly.
The State Emergency Service reports that as a result of the russian combined strike with UAVs and cruise missiles on the Lviv region, 4 people were killed. Also, 4 more people were injured to varying degrees.
According to the Air ForceOn the night of October 5, russia launched a combined strike on the territory of Ukraine and fired 549 targets – 496 attack UAVs of the Shahed and Gerber types, 2 X-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles, 42 X-101/Iskander-K cruise missiles.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
There were 188 combat clashes on the frontline.
▪️ Towards Southern Sloboda, 12 enemy attacks were stopped near Vovchansk, Lyptsi, Synelnyky, Kolodiazne and Kutkivka.
▪️ Towards Kupiansk, there were four attacks. Ukrainian defenders repelled enemy assault actions in the vicinity of the settlements of Kupiansk, Petropavlivka and Stepova Novoselivka.
The State Emergency Service of Kharkiv oblast reported that at night, russian troops carried out several drone strikes on Donetske community of Izium region. In the village of Dalnia Shebelynka, grass burned in an open area on an area of two hectares, in Verbivka – on an area of 200 sq. meters. In Shypuvate, Kupiansk region, hits were recorded in the forest belt, as a result of which a fire of 1.5 hectares broke out.
Over the past day, 13 settlements were subjected to enemy strikes. As a result of shelling of the village of Gusynka, Kindrashivsky community, a 57-year-old woman died.
Andrii Kanashevich, Head of the RMA, says that eight settlements in Kupiansk region were under russian strikes on October 4. In particular, as a result of the strike on Srednii Burluk, previously by a GAB, an outbuilding and three civilian cars were damaged.
The enemy actively used various types of weapons:

Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:
▪️In Kupiansk region, 2 private houses (Novomykolaivka village), 5 cars, an outbuilding (Srednii Burluk village), a private house (Lisna Stinka village) were damaged;
▪️In Bohodukhiv region, a private house (Ivashky village) was damaged.
Exactly two years ago, on October 5, 2023, at about 1:24 p.m., russian troops launched an Iskander-M missile strike on a cafe in the village of Hroza in Kharkiv oblast. At that time, about 65 people were in the cafe – the residents of Hroza were holding a memorial dinner for their fellow villager Andrii Kozyr, who was killed in the war. 59 people were killed as a result of the strike – one seventh of the village residents, and five more were injured. This is the largest number of casualties from a russian missile strike in Kharkiv oblast since the start of the full-scale russian invasion. Investigators have completed a series of expert examinations on the missile, the press service of Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported on the second anniversary of the strike. In particular, the examinations showed that the missile had a high-explosive fragmentation warhead and its range reached 300 km.
During the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, russians have been using the off-season to intensify attacks on energy infrastructure. Since the beginning of September, Lozova has been experiencing power outages due to russian attacks: the Russians destroyed a substation there that supplies power to almost the entire city. On the evening of September 23, Kharkiv was attacked by 18 russian drones: the main attack was on an energy infrastructure facility, and 80,000 consumers in the city were left without power. On October 3, russia launched the most massive attack on Naftogaz facilities since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, in particular in the oblast.
The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 238 people. 86 people remained. A total of 6,078 people have been registered at the Point since it began operating.
Donetsk oblast
Russian troops carried out more than 120 assaults and 47 airstrikes in eastern Ukraine. According to Arkadii Radkovskyi, Spokesman for the Vostok group of forces, the defense forces have destroyed more than 1,800 drones and one tank. The russian army continues its tactics of infiltration in small groups.
Anastasia Medvedeva, Spokeswoman for the regional prosecutor’s office, says that on the morning of October 5, russian troops fired artillery at Kostiantynivka. As a result, one person was injured.
A nine-story apartment building was destroyed, more than two dozen other buildings were damaged, shops and cafes were destroyed, and two dozen cars were damaged in Sloviansk. According to Vadim Liakh, Head of the RMA, seven adults and a 13-year-old teenager were injured. According to the regional prosecutor’s office, russian troops dropped high-explosive aerial bombs weighing 250 kilograms with a planning and correction module on the central part of the city.
On October 4, there were 1,911 enemy strikes on the front line and residential areas. 65 civilian objects were destroyed, including 47 residential buildings.
The occupiers sent FPV drones, two Molniya-2 UAVs and Uragan MLRS to Druzhkivka – they killed a civilian and injured 6 more residents. 8 private houses and 7 cars were damaged.
In Sloviansk, russians struck with drones, UAVs and dropped three KAB-250 aerial bombs – they injured 5 people, including a 13-year-old child.
17 apartment buildings and 11 private houses were destroyed.
The enemy dropped four GAB-250 bombs on Kostyantynivka and covered it with artillery – a civilian was injured, 5 apartment buildings and shops were damaged.
In Dobropillia, a person was injured and a private home was destroyed due to an attack by a Geran-2 UAV.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
According to Yaroslav Dobryansky, head of the Kyiv Regional Council, Kyiv oblast has sent a batch of aid to the front line due to the joint efforts of the community, MPs and regional authorities. Soldiers of the 72nd Separate Mechanised Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians received 16 pick-up trucks, 350 FPV drones and other necessary military equipment.
According to the city council, Bucha community sent modern UNA-MOVE2 navigation modules to the soldiers of the 15th Mobile Border Guard Detachment ‘Steel Border’. The equipment, worth 150,000 hryvnias, was purchased with funds from the local budget.
On 5 October, a weekly event was held on Independence Square in Kyiv to remind people of the prisoners of war and soldiers missing in action on the front lines. Every week, relatives and loved ones of the defenders gather at various locations in Kyiv to draw attention to the problem of finding soldiers who have lost contact after completing combat missions.
On Ukraine’s Territorial Defence Day, Irpin honours the memory of 39 volunteers who gave their lives defending their hometown. Local residents who joined the Territorial Defence Forces were the first to defend the community. They held the defence at four key checkpoints, which prevented the russian military from occupying the city and quickly reaching the capital.
According to the head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk, despite the war, a modern urban park will be created in Fastiv district. The aim of the project is to provide small communities with the same opportunities for development and recreation as large cities. The planned urban park will become a new barrier-free space for recreation, sports, cultural events and communication for residents of all age groups.
Zhytomyr oblast
Soldiers from the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade from Zhytomyr won first place at the ‘Willpower’ sports and rehabilitation event organised by the 8th Corps of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. All brigades subordinate to the corps, as well as civilian teams, took part in the competition. The programme included a series of tests that tested not only physical endurance but also strength of spirit.
On 3 October, a recovery event was held in Zhytomyr oblast for police officers who had recently returned from the combat zone. The participants were divided into teams and played several rounds of paintball, which not only helped them relax but also restored their inner resources.
On 4 October, a charity fair called ‘Flowers for Knights’ was held in Malyn, Zhytomyr oblast. Participants sold decorative and garden plants, and the proceeds were collected for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is the seventh such fair since the beginning of the war.
Sumy oblast
On 4 October, the Prosecutor’s Office reported that a 71-year-old man was killed in the russian strike on the railway station in Shostka. His body was found inside one of the train carriages hit by a russian drone. Eight people remain in hospital, two of them in intensive care in stable condition. Among the injured are passengers — including three children aged 8, 11 and 14 — as well as Ukrzaliznytsia railway staff.
As a result of the russian attack on 4 October, both a passenger train on Shostka–Kyiv route and a suburban train were damaged. After the first explosion, a russian drone circled above the station, hindering rescue efforts, before another strike was carried out.

On 5 October, 125 “Points of Invincibility” were operating in Shostka, where residents could warm up, charge their phones, have hot drinks, and receive support. After the end of the curfew, the centres will continue to operate. Hot meals for children have also been organised. Starting Monday, the state will strengthen power supply to Shostka community.
Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office informed that at around 11:20am on 4 October, in Seredyna-Buda community, the enemy attacked a boat carrying fishermen on a lake by a drone. A 63-year-old man was killed and his 65-year-old companion was injured.
According to Sumy Regional Military Administration, in Krasnopillia community, an 88-year-old man was injured on 4 October as a result of guided aerial bomb strikes.
Between the morning of 4 October and the morning of 5 October, russian forces carried out 187 attacks on 36 settlements in 18 local communities of Sumy oblast. The largest number of strikes was recorded in Sumy, Shostka and Konotop regions. The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs (up to 10 strikes), UAVs (over 20 strikes), dropped VOG grenades from drones (nearly 20 strikes), and also conducted FPV-drone and multiple launch rocket system attacks.
Damage and destruction to civilian infrastructure included:
- In Krasnopillia community – civilian infrastructure facilities destroyed, a warehouse and 11 private homes damaged.
- In Seredyna-Buda community – a boat damaged.
- In Shostka community – civilian and railway infrastructure, non-residential buildings, a multi-storey residential building, and a car damaged.
- In Putyvl community – an apartment block damaged.
- In Buryn community – an educational facility damaged.
- In Vorozhba community – a tractor damaged.
- In Hlukhiv community – a private household destroyed.
- In Sumy community – a private house and a civilian infrastructure facility damaged.
Chernihiv oblast
Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, Head of Chernihiv City Military Administration, reported that in Chernihiv on 5 October, a russian drone struck a petrol station.
Pavlo Shymko, Mayor of Bakhmach, said that in Bakhmach, between 10pm and midnight on 4 October, five “Herbera” drones hit a critical infrastructure facility. A fire broke out at the scene, and several residential houses were also damaged by the russian strikes.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Regional Military Administration, informed that power outage schedules remain in effect across Chernihiv oblast. Energy workers are working to reduce restrictions. According to him, a power facility in Chernihiv was damaged in a russian “Shahed” drone attack. In Nizhyn, a russian UAV struck an industrial site, also damaging a residential building. In Semenivka community, an administrative building was damaged in a drone strike.
According to Chernihiv Border Detachment, throughout 4 October, russian forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (5 explosions) and artillery strikes (25 explosions), used “Shahed” drones (4 explosions) and unidentified UAVs (1 explosion), conducted FPV-drone strikes (26 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from drones (13 explosions). Fourteen settlements came under fire. In Semenivka community, non-residential buildings caught fire as a result of russian attacks. In Tykhonovychi village, Snovsk community, a UAV strike occurred near a mobile communications tower.

Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the oblast council, the defenders destroyed 16 enemy UAVs.
They attacked Synelnykove region with GABs. They targeted Pokrovske community. 3 private houses were destroyed. At night, the occupiers raided Nikopol region. They shelled Marhanets community with MLRS, and Nikopol was hit with artillery.
The occupiers struck Nikopol region several times. They shelled with artillery and hit with a drone. They targeted Nikopol, Marhanets and Pokrovske communities. According to updated information, an enterprise was damaged due to a night attack in Dniprovskyi region.
Vinnytsia oblast
Natalya Zabolotna, First Deputy Head of the RMA, says that as a result of the night russian massive attack, an industrial civilian facility was hit.
Kirovohrad oblast
Andrii Raykovych, Head of Kirovohrad RMA, reports that iIn Oleksandria region, the windows of two residential buildings and the roof of an outbuilding were damaged by the debris of a downed drone. In Holovanivske, 10 private households and power lines were affected.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, says that in Cherkasy oblast, the defense forces shot down 13 russian UAVs at night. Power lines were damaged as a result of the drone crash.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
During the night on 5 October, the enemy launched a combined attack on the city of Zaporizhzhia and its suburbs using drones and guided air bombs. Ukrainian defenders destroyed part of the Shahed drones and guided bombs. However, eight locations were damaged as a result of the attacks. 18 apartment buildings, 24 private houses, and 7 non-residential facilities were damaged during the nighttime assault. One person was killed, and 10 others were injured, including a 16-year-old child.

According to the Ministry of Energy, the combined strike damaged equipment belonging to Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo, which caused a power outage affecting a large number of consumers in Zaporizhzhia and the Zaporizhzhia region. The head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, reported that more than 70,000 customers were left without electricity, though some have already been reconnected.
Yesterday, 4 October, the occupiers carried out 702 strikes on 18 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The enemy launched one missile strike on Heorhiivske. russian forces carried out 13 airstrikes on Zaporizhzhia, Stepove, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Malynivka, Poltavka, and Chervona Krynytsia. 430 drones of various types (mostly FPV) attacked Zaporizhzhia, Malokaterynivka, Novomykolaivka, Chervonodniprovka, Prymorske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Rivnopillia, and Charivne. Four MLRS attacks were carried out on Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Poltavka, and Mala Tokmachka. There were 254 artillery strikes on Chervonodniprovka, Prymorske, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, and Charivne. There were 89 reports of damage to homes, vehicles, and infrastructure facilities. One person was killed and nine injured in enemy attacks on Zaporizhzhia.
Over the past day, 4 October, there was one combat clash near Poltavka towards Huliaipole. Another clash occurred as the enemy attempted to advance in vicinity of Novodanylivka towards Orikhiv.
Mykolaiv oblast
At night, air defense forces shot down or suppressed five Shahed-type drones and various types of drone decoys in the region.
Yesterday, 4 October, the enemy carried out seven FPV drone attacks on Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities. There were no casualties.
On 5 October, a peaceful rally was once again held in Mykolaiv to remind people about prisoners of war and missing servicemen. Two hundred people took to the streets with photos and flags to support their relatives and friends.
Odesa oblast
On the night of 5 October, there were explosions in Odesa during an air raid alert. The Regional Military Administration reported that there was no damage as a result of the drone attack.
Odesa Regional Military Administration reported that more than 100 cadets from the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs and the National University of Civil Protection of Ukraine joined efforts to eliminate the consequences of the bad weather. Together with rescuers, they assisted residents most affected by the storm.
Kherson oblast
On 5 October, 2025, around 10:30 am, russian army forces shelled Kherson with artillery. A 77-year-old man sustained fatal injuries.
Today, 5 October, russian occupation forces attacked Kherson with a drone. Two people were injured in Dniprovskyi region — they suffered blast and head injuries, concussions, and shrapnel wounds.
A Kherson resident who was injured in russian shelling yesterday in Dniprovskiy district was hospitalized. The 38-year-old man sustained a blast injury and shrapnel wounds to his chest and legs.
Yesterday, 4 October, the russian forces attacked Antonivka, Prydniprovske, Bilozerka, Stanislav, Kizomys, Sofiivka, Shyroka Balka, Veletenske, Nezlamne, Rozlyv, Doslidne, Dniprovske, Ivanivka, Mykilske, Novotiahynka, Tokarivka, Beryslav, Mykhailivka, Kostyrka, Novoraisk, Burhunka, Odradokamianka, Respublikanets, Tiahynka, Chervonyi Maiak, Vesele, and the city of Kherson. Eight apartment buildings, twelve private houses, a store, outbuildings, private garages and cars, agricultural machinery, and gas pipelines were damaged. The gas leak was shut off, and there are currently no threats or fires. Nine people were injured, including two children, as a result of russian aggression.
Yesterday, 4 October, Ukrainian units repelled three enemy attacks near the Antonivskyi Bridge towards Kherson.

Volyn oblast
In Volyn oblast, the air raid alert lasted for almost 5 hours. In the oblast, the air raid alert was announced at 2:37 am It was canceled at 7:14 am.
Zakarpattia oblast
On 3 October, Maksym-Oleh Porokhnavets, 28-year-old soldier from the village of Strabychovo, Mukachevo community, was killed of wounds. The hero was wounded during a battle in Volchansk region, Kharkiv oblast.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
At night, the oblast was subjected to combined attacks by suicide bombers and rockets. Thanks to the Air Defense, it was possible to avoid casualties. The target of the enemy attack was critical infrastructure facilities. In one of the communities of the oblast, a residential building was partially damaged as a result of the attack. No casualties were reported. Also, windows were damaged in one of the apartments in Ivano-Frankivsk districts.
Ivano-Frankivsk RMA team worked in the areas of Prykarpattia, where buildings were damaged as a result of enemy shelling in the morning. At this time, over 20 households in Ivano-Frankivsk and Nadvirna districts are known to have been damaged.
Lviv oblast
At night, Lviv oblast suffered the largest attack since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The russians terrorized the region with combined strikes for more than five hours. The enemy fired about 140 Shaheeds and 23 cruise missiles at the region. 4 people were killed and 4 more were injured as a result of the russian attack. A number of objects were damaged, including residential buildings. All emergency services are working continuously at the sites of the hits: rescuers, doctors, police, as well as psychologists of the State Emergency Service, who provide assistance to the victims.
Rivne oblast
During 2024-2025, Rivne oblast received 43 evacuation trains, which brought 1,345 people. Officially, over 42,000 internally displaced persons are registered in the oblast. Of these, 10,127 are children, 7,195 pensioners and 2,307 people with disabilities.
Ternopil oblast
Rocket debris and several UAVs were recorded falling in Ternopil oblast. There were no injuries or damage. There was minor damage to the roof of a building in Chortkiv region.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
During the night alert, the Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 1 Kalibr cruise missile in the oblast. 5 cruise missiles and 3 UAVs were also lost in the area. There were no injuries, deaths or damage.
Chernivtsi oblast
The RMA reported that soldier Ivan Osidak was awarded the Bukovina Cross of Honor and Dignity.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Ursula von der Leyen, European Commission President, called for increased pressure on russia over the attack on the Shostka railway station. The G7+ group also held an urgent meeting over the massive russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The Ukrainian side informed international partners about the consequences of the attack on oil and gas facilities.
