The Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the advance of russian invaders. On 1 March, the number of combat clashes with the russian aggressor was 57.
Terrorists continue to destroy Ukrainian cities and villages with rocket, air and artillery strikes.
Communities of Brantsivka, Bratenytsia, Hirky in Sumy oblast; Mkhy, Halahanivka, Mykolaivka in Chernihiv oblast; Tymofiivka in Kharkiv oblast were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire.
Towards Kharkiv, the enemy launched airstrikes with KABs on Okhrymivka, Makarove and Hraniv.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy attacked three times in the vicinity of Novoosinove and Zahryzove, two battles are underway.
Towards Lyman, the invading army carried out six attacks on Ukrainian positions near Nove and Novomykhailivka, four battles are ongoing. Ukrainian soldiers are holding their defenses steadfastly and inflicting losses on the enemy. Borova and Bohuslavka were hit by airstrikes.

Towards Pokrovsk, russian invaders made 15 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their occupied positions near Nova Poltavka, Yelizavetivka, Promin, Pokrovsk, Pishchane, Udachne, Preobrazhenka, Bohdanivka, Andriivka and Ulaklyv. The defense forces are holding back the onslaught and repelling 13 enemy attacks, two clashes are still ongoing. In addition, enemy aircraft carried out air defense missile strikes on Novopavlivka and Novoukrainka.
Towards Novopavlivka, there were five enemy attacks near Kostiantynopol and Skudne.
Towards Huliaipole, three enemy assaults were repelled by Ukrainian soldiers near Pryvilne and Charivne. Airstrikes were carried out on Ternove, Huliaipole and Zaliznychne.
Towards Orikhiv, there were three clashes, one attack was repelled by the Defense Forces, the invader is trying, with the support of aviation, to advance in the areas of Pyatikhatki and Kamyanske.

Towards Kursk, Ukrainian defenders repelled nine enemy attacks, two more clashes are still ongoing, in addition, the enemy launched 14 air strikes, dropping 17 KABs, and carried out 210 artillery attacks on the positions of our troops and settlements.
Towards Kharkiv, Siversk and Kramatorsk, the occupation forces did not carry out active offensive actions.
In the remaining directions, there were no special changes in the situation.
The Prosecutor General’s Office reported that on the night of March 1, russia carried out a strike on a medical facility, as well as on a road near a car dealership and a residential complex in Kharkiv. As a result of the large-scale drone attack, 12 people were injured, including two children.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, in recent months, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has codified more than 100 types of weapons, most of which are produced in Ukraine. These include unmanned aerial systems, ammunition for them, electronic warfare systems, nuclear weapons, automotive equipment, and aviation equipment.

Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
The General Staff reported that towards Kharkiv, the rssian army launched airstrikes with KABs on Okhrymivka, Makarove and Hraniv, and attacked Timofiivka with mortars and artillery.
Towards Kupiansk, the occupiers attacked three times near Novoosynove and Zahryzove, as of 16:00 two battles were underway. Borova and Bohuslavka were hit by airstrikes
The RMA reported that one enemy attack took place in the area of the settlement of Vovchansk in the Kharkiv direction, .
In the Kupiansk, there were two attacks. The defense forces repelled the enemy’s assault actions near Zahryzove and Lozova.
Shelling
Viktor Kovalenko, Head of Zolochiv community, reports that at 14:40, the russian military attacked Klynova Novoselivka with FPV drones. As a result of six strikes, two private houses, outbuildings, a car and power grids were damaged.
On the morning of March 1, the russian army struck the village of Kivsharivka as reported by the State Emergency Service of Kharkiv oblast. As a result of the shelling, a nine-story building caught fire. According to rescuers, there were no casualties as a result of the shelling.

At 04:35, the russian federation attacked Bogodukhiv region, Makarykha village. 1 KAB hit an open area. There was no information about the destruction and casualties.
Oleg Synegubov, Head of the RMA, reports that on the night of March 1, from 22:57 to 00:23, russians attacked the city of Kharkiv. The enemy attacked the city with UAVs 9 times.2 administrative buildings, 6 multi-storey buildings, 3 private houses, 1 shop, 2 cars, a gas station, and a supermarket were damaged. As a result of the UAV hit, buildings on the territory of the hospital were damaged. 7 people were injured – in a light condition, without hospitalization. The wreckage of the Shakhed fell on a medical institution – the regional dental hospital and the genetic center of the medical university. According to him, two floors and the ceiling of the building were destroyed.

The day before, at 23:20, Kharkiv region, еру village of Nova Vololaha was under attack by the russian federation. On the territory of the enterprise, as a result of the downing of a UAV, a production workshop, the roof of the building, and private houses were damaged.
At 11:45, Bogodukhiv region, the village of Kalynove was under attack by the russian federation. As a result of the hit of the KAB, 5 private houses, a culture house, a shop, 1 car, and power grids were partially damaged. GAB shelling was also recorded in the villages of Karasivka, Chornohlazivka, Orishanka, and Dovzhyk.
At 10:22, Kharkiv region, the village of Bezruky was under attack by the russian federation. As a result of the shelling, a house was damaged.
Donetsk oblast
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the russian army has increased the number of attacks in street battles in Toretsk and on the outskirts of the city. Over the past day, the occupiers stormed the positions of the Defense Forces near Dachny, Krymske, Leonidivka and in the urban development of Toretsk 16 times.
russian troops carried out the largest number of assaults towards Pokrovsk. Ukrainian defenders repelled 26 attacks near Baranivka, Yelizavetivka, Promin, Lysivka, Novoukrainka, Pishchane, Kotlyne, Nadiivka and Andriivka.
the Khortytsia Military Unit reported that near Toretsk, the Defense Forces destroyed a Russian BTR-82A. The armored vehicle was hit by an FPV drone.
The RMA reported that russian occupiers shelled the western part of Pokrovsk on the night of March 1 and wounded two residents of the city.
Police recorded 3,302 enemy strikes on the front line and residential areas. 14 settlements were under fire. 174 civilian objects were destroyed, including 119 residential buildings.
In Lyman, a russian drone killed two civilians riding bicycles. In addition, the enemy covered the city with artillery. 5 private houses, an educational institution, and a gas pipeline were damaged.
The occupiers hit Myrnahrad with a FAB-250 bomb and artillery, a woman was killed and an administrative building damaged.
In Siversk, a bomb attack claimed the life of a civilian and damaged a private house.
russians launched 22 strikes on Kostiantynivka, 19 of which were bombs, injuring two civilians. 29 apartment buildings and 20 private houses, 4 administrative buildings, a shop, a cafe, 18 outbuildings, a garage, 2 cars, 4 power lines and a gas pipeline were damaged.
Two people were injured in Pokrovsk, 2 private houses were damaged.
As a result of enemy UAV strikes, one person was injured in Stavky and one in Molochark.
On Krasnotorok, Kramatorsk region, russian troops dropped a FAB-250 bomb, damaging 29 private houses and a civilian car.
On Belokuzminivka, the enemy hit with 2 FABs and artillery, three private houses, a motel, a gas station, and a power grid were destroyed. In Nova Poltavka, 4 households and power lines were damaged.
Luhansk oblast
The RMA reported that during the attempt to advance, the enemy again stormed positions in Belohorivka. The occupiers are actively putting pressure towards Lyman and Siversk, using a large number of drones, in particular 248 units. In addition, the enemy has increased artillery shelling: in the past day, 20 cases of artillery fire were recorded on the specified section of the front.
Regarding the Belorichenska undergrund mine, which was transferred to russian investors about a year ago, it is worth noting that the promised new equipment was never installed, and instead of improvements, there has been a reduction in staff and a delay in salary payments, in particular with many months of debts.
From July 1, in the territories of Luhansk oblast occupied by the russian army, mobile numbers of those who have not received a russian passport will be blocked.

Kyiv oblast
The RMA reported that the enemy attacked Kyiv oblast with a UAV at night. The consequences of the impact of downed russian drones were registered in three districts. As a result of the russian attack, five private houses were damaged in Obukhiv district, and one private house in Bucha and Boryspil districts. Windows and doors were smashed, roofs and facades were damaged. All owners of the damaged houses will be provided with the necessary assistance.
KCMA reported that in February 2025, one person was killed and 6 injured as a result of russian air attacks in Kyiv. Also, 28 buildings and 29 cars were damaged. The air defence forces repelled 19 air attacks during this time. The air raid alert was sounded 42 times.
A recruitment centre for the Ukrainian army was opened in Boryspil. This is the fourth such centre opened in Kyiv oblast and the 49th in Ukraine. According to the Regional Military Administration, the centre can be accessed confidentially without disclosing personal data. More than 10,000 vacancies available in the Defence Forces.
Kyiv City State Administration informed that in Kyiv, veterans with musculoskeletal injuries or amputations can learn to drive for free as part of the ‘Drivers’ project. In particular, it is about driving a manual car. The infrastructure and learning process are adapted to the needs of people with disabilities.
This week, Routes of Mental Health Services in the Community were presented in 6 pilot communities in Kyiv oblast. These routes contain a list of psychosocially important mental health services available at the community level. They include information about state, municipal and non-governmental organisations that provide social and psychological support to residents.
Zhytomyr oblast
The city council reported that in Zhytomyr, the family of Hero of Ukraine Andriy Demchyk was awarded the Order of the Golden Star. The honorary title of Hero of Ukraine and the order were awarded to soldier Andriy Volodymyrovych Demchyk posthumously by a Presidential Decree. Andriy took part in the battles near Kupiansk and was killed in May near Orikhiv, saving the lives of his comrades.
In Zhytomyr, solar power plants have been operating at City Hospital No. 2 for more than two months, saving the hospital more than three thousand kilowatts of electricity and providing power in case of power outages. The solar power plants were installed as part of the Renewable Energy for Sustainable Ukraine project implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation.
Sumy oblast
Valentyna Nazarenko, Head of Romny Regional Military AdministrationIn Romny region, as a result of a russian drone attack on 1 March, 14 private houses and three communal buildings, including an educational institution, were damaged. Rescuers and utility workers are involved in the work to eliminate the consequences of the attack. The Ukrainian Red Cross Society is also providing assistance.
Ivan Kryuchkov, Head of Sady community, informed that on 28 February, around 9pm, the russian army attacked Sady community by drones. As a result of the strike, 5 private households in Holubivka were damaged.
The Regional Military Administration reported that during the night, the russian army shelled Krasnopillia community. They struck by guided aerial bombs and artillery. An administrative building, private houses, and garage premises were damaged.
Overall, during the night and morning, russian forces carried out 6 shellings of border areas in Sumy oblast. A total of 11 strikes were recorded using artillery, UAVs, and guided aerial bombs (GAB). The shellings affected the communities of Sady, Yunakivka, Krasnopillia, and Velyka Pysarivka.

On 1 March, anti-aircraft units in Sumy oblast shot down 11 enemy “Shahed” drones.
During night and morning, russians carried out 80 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 151 explosions. The enemy struck by mortars (48 explosions), artillery (35 explosions), MLRS (10 explosions), attacked by FPV-drones (43 explosions), launched GAB (3 explosions), and dropped VOG from UAVs (12 explosions). The attacks targeted 11 communities: Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropilia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Putyvl, Nova Slobidka, Esman, Seredyna-Buda, Svesa.
As a result of russian shelling on 28 February, a non-residential building in Seredyna-Buda community was damaged, and a civilian car in Nova Slobidska community was destroyed.
According to the Regional Military Administration, Sumy oblast has handed over 10 pickups and computer and digital equipment to Ukrainian military, who are defending the oblast’s skies and carrying out other combat missions, including towards Kursk.
Chernihiv oblast
Chernihiv Border Detachment reported that on 28 February, russian forces attacked two border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Semenivka and Snovsk. The enemy used FPV-drones, mortars, and barrel artillery, and dropped explosive devices from UAVs. A total of 34 strikes were recorded. Eleven settlements were under enemy fire.
In the territory of Semenivka community, as a result of enemy strikes, a transportation infrastructure facility in Semenivka and a private house in Zarichchia were damaged.
Liudmyla Tkachenko, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi community, informed that in the border of Hremiach village in Chernihiv oblast, which is shelled daily by russian forces, 170 people currently reside. Before the full-scale invasion, nearly 1,000 people lived there.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
From evening until morning, the enemy continued to attack Nikopol region. They shelled Pokrovsk community with artillery and the region centre with kamikaze drones. The occupiers also attacked Mezhivska community of Synelnykove region with a drone. A car was damaged.
During the day, the enemy attacked Nikopol region about two dozen times. They used artillery and kamikaze drones. They targeted the region centre, Marhanets, Myrove, Chervonohryhorivka and Pokrov communities. A 63-year-old man was injured. Four private houses were damaged, another house was completely destroyed, 2 cars, a petrol station, infrastructure, power lines and gas pipelines were hit.
Kirovohrad oblast
Andrii Raikovych, Head of Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, reported that the Air Armed forces were working in Kirovohrad oblast at night.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, reported that at night, defenders shot down 8 russian UAVs in Cherkasy oblast. Debris damaged a power line. The blast wave also damaged the windows of four houses in Uman region.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Defence Forces repelled 6 russian attacks today in Huliaipole and Orikhiv regions. The enemy launched assaults near Pryvilne and Charivne and is attempting to advance with air support near Piatykhatky and Kamianske.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, reported that russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia, damaging residential buildings and vehicles. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties.
As reported by the General Staff, on 28 February, the Defence Forces repelled 3 russian attacks in Orikhiv region, with clashes occurring near Kamianske and Piatykhatky.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 28 February, the russian military launched 560 strikes on 11 cities and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The attacks included 20 airstrikes on Lobkove, Zaliznychne, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Bilohiria and Huliaipole.
Mykolaiv oblast
According to the RMA, during the night of 1 March, Ukrainian air defence forces destroyed 3 Shahed drones over Mykolaiv oblast.
On 28 February, russian forces shelled and attacked Kutsurub community by FPV drones 9 times. As a result, a fire broke out at an industrial facility in Parutyne, while houses, farm buildings, a minibus and a tractor were damaged in Dmytrivka. There were no casualties reported.
Odesa oblast
Oleh Kiper, Head of the RMA, informed that this evening, the russian military struck Odesa by a ballistic missile, injuring 2 people. The attack damaged port infrastructure and a civilian vessel flying the flag of Panama, owned by a European company. 2 male port workers sustained injuries.
At around 10:30pm, russia launched a drone attack on Odesa oblast, killing 1 person and injuring 3. A private single-story house, a business and several vehicles were set on fire due to the attack and falling debris.
The russian attack also damaged the training base of FC Chornomorets in Odesa. The administrative building, staff vehicles and the glass in the swimming pool area were affected. No players, coaches or staff members were injured.
According to the Air Command South, Ukrainian air defence shot down 10 drones over Odesa oblast. They also confirmed that in the evening of 28 February, russia attacked the oblast by a ballistic missile, likely an Iskander-M.

Kherson oblast
According to the RMA, in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson, a russian drone attack wounded a 60-year-old woman. She suffered blast trauma and shrapnel injuries to her thigh. Another drone attack in the city injured a 39-year-old man, who sustained blast trauma and shrapnel wounds to his back and legs.
In Dariivka, a russian drone strike injured an 11-year-old child, who suffered a traumatic brain injury, concussion and shrapnel wounds to the face and abdomen. Her condition is critical. A 48-year-old woman was also injured and received medical assistance at the scene.
In Antonivka, near Kherson, russian forces dropped explosives from a drone on civilians, wounding a 41-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman. Both sustained mine-blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to their legs.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, stated that on 28 February, russian troops shelled 35 settlements in Kherson oblast, damaging an apartment building, 15 private houses, a garage and a car. 4 people were injured.
As reported by the RMA, due to artillery shelling and drone attacks in Antonivka, near Kherson, 3 people were wounded and hospitalised.
Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Volyn oblast
The Lesia Ukrainka Volyn National University held a roundtable discussion on the topic: Veteran Policy of the Lesia Ukrainka University: Challenges and Prospects. The purpose of the event is to improve communication in Lutsk community and Volyn oblast to develop new approaches to implementing veteran policy measures.
Zakarpattia oblast
The Forum of Territorial Communities of the Border Regions of Zakarpattia Oblast and Kosice and Presov Self-Governing Regions was held in Uzhhorod. They discussed establishing partnerships.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Families of the fallen Heroes were presented with state and regional awards. Oleksandr Sydorchuk was awarded the III degree For Courage Order and the For the Defense of Ukraine Presidential Order (posthumously).
Lviv oblast
38 organizations providing psychosocial services in the region signed a memorandum of cooperation with Lviv Regional Office of Mental Health. This took place during the forum “Mental health and psychosocial support in the communities of Lviv oblast. Solutions and opportunities for everyone!”.
Taras Shchupak, Commander of the Mortar Battery of the 125th Territorial Defense Brigade, was awarded the Defender of Ukraine medal (posthumously). The award was presented to the Hero’s wife. In May 2024, during the enemy offensive in Kharkiv oblast, the soldier went out as part of a mortar crew to cover positions. An enemy strike drone attacked the mortar crew, as a result of which the defender was killed.
Rivne oblast
During the last month of winter, 15 air alerts were announced in Rivne oblast, which is slightly less than in January (19). The longest lasted almost 8 hours (9 February). The shortest – 13 minutes (11 February). On 14 and 20 February, sirens sounded twice a day. The maximum number of days without sirens was 4 (1–5 February).
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 837 air raid sirens have sounded in the oblast.
Ternopil oblast
42 servicemen from Ternopil oblast were (posthumously) awarded the II and III degrees For Courage Orders, the distinction of the For the Defense of Ukraine President of Ukraine, the For the Assault breastplate named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi and the Golden Cross of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. High state awards were presented to relatives of fallen Heroes.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi community has agreed to receive another grant from NEFCO. This is a non-refundable grant of EUR 2,12m, which will be used for the partial reconstruction of wastewater treatment facilities and the installation of solar power plants near them. This will allow the community to save money on electricity consumption, approximately up to UAH 8m per year.
Chernivtsi oblast
In the 2nd semester of this academic year, 8 centers have already organized the teaching of the Defense of Ukraine subject for all schools of Chernivtsi, Klishkovets, Mamaiv, Velykokuchuriv, Petrovets, Novoselytsia and Toporiv communities. Out of 15,177 students studying in grades 10-11, over 6,200 students are covered by Centers.
