The defense forces are directing their efforts to disrupt the russian invaders’ offensive plans and exhaust their combat potential.
On 8 February, there were 283 combat clashes.
The enemy launched one missile strike, using six missiles, 50 air strikes, dropping 144 guided bombs. In addition, it used 2,211 kamikaze drones and carried out 2,061 attacks on settlements and positions of our troops.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, Ukrainian soldiers repelled three enemy attacks, the enemy carried out 57 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements, including five from multiple launch rocket systems.
Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy stormed the positions of our units in the areas of the settlements of Vovchansk, Starytsia, Prylipka and Fiholivka. Ukrainian units repelled seven attacks.
Towards Kupiansk, Ukrainian defenders repelled 13 attacks near Kupiansk, Podoliv, Petropavlivka, Pishchane, Novoosynove, Nova Kruhliakivka, and Novoplatonivka. Another combat clash is currently ongoing.
Towards Lyman, Ukrainian soldiers stopped 22 attacks in the vicinity of the settlements of Drobysheve, Seredne, Zarichne, Druzheliubivka, Stavki, Shyykivka, and Lyman.
Towards Slaviansk, our defenders repelled 14 attempts by the occupiers to advance near Dronivka, Zakitne, Rai-Oleksandrivka, and Platonovka.
Towards Kramatorsk, the enemy carried out one attack in the vicinity of Orikhovo-Vasylivka.
Towards Kostiantynivka, the invaders stormed the positions of Ukrainian defenders 30 times near the settlements of Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar, Yablunivka and towards Kostyantynivka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Mykolaipilya, Stepanivka, Sofiivka.
Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy carried out 63 attacks. The invaders tried to advance near the settlements of Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Muravka, Myrnohrad, Filiya, Toretske, Kucheriv Yar, Bilytske, Shevchenko, Novooleksandrivka, Sergiivka, Novopidhorodne, Novopavlivka, Ivanivka, Hryshyne, and Novyi Donbas. In some locations, fighting is still ongoing. Ukrainian soldiers eliminated 146 invaders and wounded 46; destroyed 32 unmanned aerial vehicles, 16 vehicles, a unit of special equipment, and also hit seven vehicles and four enemy personnel shelters.
Towards Oleksandrivka, Ukrainian units stopped seven attacks by the invaders, in the Pryvillia area and towards the settlements of Andriivka-Klevtsove, Ivanivka, Oleksandrivka. The settlement of Kolomiitsi was hit by airstrikes with guided bombs.
Towards Huliaipole, there were 26 attacks by the invaders near Solodke, Huliaipole, Dorozhnyanka, Myrne, Zaliznychne, and Olenokostiantynivka. In some locations, fighting continues. Enemy aircraft struck the settlements of Zelena Dibrova, Barvinivka, Nizhenka, Liubitske, Vozdvizhivka, and Kopane.
Towards Orikhiv, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders five times in the vicinity of Kamianske, Shcherbaky and Lukianivske.
Towards Kherson, there were no enemy offensive actions.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that russians attacked Ukrainian positions six times in the vicinity of Vovchansk, Starytsia, Prylipka and Fiholivka towards Southern Sloboda. One battle is ongoing.
Towards Kupiansk, the Russian army also tried to advance near Kupiansk, Podolivka, Petropavlivka, Pishchane, Novoosynove, Nova Kruhliakivka and Novoplatonivka. There were 13 clashes, three of which are ongoing.
Viktor Kovalenko, Head of the community, informs that at around 12:10 on February 8, the russian army struck Zolochiv with a Molniya UAV. According to him, the strike partially damaged the household, but no one was injured.
There were 294 clashes in the oblast.
Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy tried 18 times to break through the defensive lines of our defenders, in the vicinity of Pokrovka, Zelene, Starytsia, Chuhunivka, Prylipka, Lyman, Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory and Hryhorivka.
Viktor Kovalenko, Head of the community, informs that the russian army struck with three GABs in an open area near the village of Duvanky of Zolochiv community. According to him, there is no information about the wounded and destruction
7 settlements in Kharkiv oblast were subjected to enemy strikes.
Medics provided assistance to a 38-year-old man who was injured as a result of shelling in the village of Dubivka, Derhachi community, on February 6.
The enemy actively used various types of weapons in the Kharkiv region:
▪️2 GABs;
▪️11 Geran-2 UAVs;
▪️1 FPV drone;
▪️1 UAV (type to be determined).
Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:
▪️In Bogodukhiv region, power grids were damaged (village of Mandrychyne);
▪️In Izium region, railway infrastructure was damaged (city of Barvinkove), 10 private houses (village of Yaremivka);
▪️In Chuhuiv region, a residential building was damaged (city of Chuhuyiv).
The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 31 people. A total of 18,364 people have been registered at the Point since its launch.
Ihor Klymenko, commander of the Kharkiv Red Cross rapid response unit, says that four horses from Stara Saltivka community were evacuated by Red Cross volunteers together with law enforcement officers on February 5: the operation to transport the animals further from the front line is ongoing.
Donetsk oblast
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the russian army carried out 20 assaults towards Lyman near Kopanky, Sredne, Novoselivka, Drobysheve, Stavky and Zarechne.
Compared to the day before, the occupiers increased the number of assaults on 5 out of 6 defense directions in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.
Towards Slaviansk, there is a disorder in the management of the russian army due to the shutdown of Starlink terminals. Also, “unpredictable” eastern weather prevents the occupiers from conducting large-scale operations.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the defeat of a russian UAV control point in the vicinity of temporarily occupied Novoekonomichne.
Viktor Trehubov, UOS spokesman, says that the russian military is unable to break through to Lyman in the north of Donetsk oblast. The occupiers are advancing towards the city in small groups, but the Defense Forces are holding Lyman well.
The 7th corps of the DShV said that in the western part of Pokrovsk, Ukrainian military discovered and destroyed a russian self-propelled gun Nona-S. The occupiers planned to use the installation for assaults in the direction of Hrishine.
Maksym Butolin, Senior Sergeant of the 54th brigade, The russian army continues to advance in small groups, but is accumulating heavy equipment for a possible massive assault.
The GUR published a radio intercept of russian officers who talk about the shooting of civilians on the outskirts of Pokrovsk and the desertion of the military.
The RMA reports that at around 5:00, the occupiers attacked Kramatorsk. Previously, one person was killed and two injured. At least 7 apartment buildings were damaged. Later, at 10:10, russia struck Kramatorsk again: a bomb hit the road in the city center, three more apartment buildings and a post office were damaged. In total, an 18-year-old girl was injured, as well as men aged 40, 46, and 48, and a woman born in 1948 died. 20 high-rise buildings were damaged.

Also under attack at night was Oleksiivo-Druzhkivka – one person was injured, a private home damaged.
On February 7, there were 1,139 enemy attacks on the front line and residential sector of the region.
5 settlements were under fire: the cities of Dobropillia, Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, the village of Shabelkivka, the village of Kindrativka.

31 civilian objects were destroyed, including 25 residential buildings.
Two people were killed in Kindrativka as a result of a GAB-250 bomb.
russians hit Kramatorsk with three GAB-250 bombs and Smerch MLRS – injuring two civilians, damaging 24 private houses, a hospital, and a boiler room.
Luhansk oblast
The enemy used all available weapons, opening fire on settlements in Luhansk oblast. Yesterday, it struck with barrel artillery, automatic grenade launchers, mortars. It directed unmanned systems towards Ukrainian defenders.

In order not to print paper banknotes, the russian federation has decided to introduce a digital ruble, which will supposedly exist in parallel with the usual currency. In this way, they are trying to hide inflation from the population. From September 2026, it will enter circulation in the so-called “lpr”. Certain payments will become mandatory in this form of currency. The digital ruble will be introduced in the territory, a significant part of which is disconnected from the Internet or has restrictions on the use of this service.
In the occupied Luhansk oblast, heating tariffs will increase again from October 1. This time, prices will be raised by at least 18%. This will apply exclusively to the housing stock. For budget organizations and other consumers, the tariffs approved as of January 1 will remain valid.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Andrii Danik, Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, reported that a State Emergency Service rescuer died in Kyiv oblast while dealing with the aftermath of russian shelling on 7 February. During the extinguishing of a large-scale fire in warehouse buildings in the city of Yahotyn, the structures suddenly collapsed. As a result, a firefighter-rescuer of the 22nd State Fire and Rescue Unit, 30-year-old Chief Master Sergeant Mykhailo Protsenko, was killed. The commander of the unit, 49-year-old Serhiy Hobotnia, was also injured and is currently under medical supervision.
DTEK reported that energy companies managed to stabilise the situation in Kyiv oblast. On 8 February, power outages will be implemented in Kyiv and the oblast. The day before, it was reported that after another massive russian shelling, the situation with electricity in Kyiv became very difficult. Energy companies can only supply electricity to Kyiv residents for one and a half to two hours a day.
Mykola Kalashnyk, Head of Kyiv Regional State Administration, said that distributed generation in Kyiv oblast generally covers about a quarter of the demand. There are 4,636 generators with a total capacity of over 100 MW operating in the oblast. In addition, there are 56 cogeneration plants with a total capacity of 145 MW. Solar energy is actively developing – last year alone, 89 power plants with a capacity of about 40 MW were installed. Most of the base stations of mobile operators are equipped with batteries and generators.
On 7 February, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with French Minister of the Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs Catherine Vautrin. This was her first visit to Kyiv since her appointment in October last year. The meeting focused on the importance of supplying SAMP/T systems and French Mirage aircraft to strengthen Ukraine’s air defence, as well as joint measures to strengthen the defence of Ukraine and Europe.
The Hearing Restoration Centre for Military Personnel in Kyiv received a second surgical microscope, allowing it to perform more free hearing restoration operations for military personnel. The surgical equipment was donated by the German charity Blue and Yellow Cross with the support of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Its cost is approximately €50-60,000.
The film “I Died in Irpin” by Ukrainian director Anastasia Falileeva has been nominated for the Slovak film award “Sun in the Net” (Slnko v sieti) in the category “Best Animated Film”. It is an 11-minute film, entirely drawn in charcoal on paper, which tells the story of the author’s experience of spending 10 days in a besieged city with her boyfriend, after which she was able to leave with the last evacuation convoy.
Zhytomyr oblast
The State Emergency Service reported that rescuers from Zhytomyr oblast have been helping Kyiv around the clock for a month, restoring heat and setting up emergency centres. With the help of generators, personnel provide electricity to residential buildings, carry out emergency repair work and help restore heat supply to the homes of the capital’s residents.
On 6 February, a humanitarian aid centre for Kherson residents, called “Free Together,” was opened in Zhytomyr. It was created to support residents of the Kherson oblast who were forced to leave their homes due to the war. Here, displaced persons can receive humanitarian, legal, and psychological assistance. According to the head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, more than 4,000 residents of Kherson oblast currently live in the Zhytomyr oblast.
Sumy oblast
According to Mykola Noha, Head of Shostka community, On 8 February, the community was attacked by enemy UAVs. As a result of the strikes, an infrastructure facility was destroyed and a social sector facility was damaged.
Sumy Regional Military Administration said that it was reported that two residents of Myropillia community were killed as a result of russian shelling. A 52-year-old man was killed on 5 February, and a 58-year-old resident of the community was killed on 6 February.
Over the course of the day, from the morning of 7 February to the morning of 8 February, russian forces carried out more than 40 attacks on 22 settlements across 17 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, FPV drones, UAVs, and guided aerial bombs. Over the day, air raid alerts in the oblast lasted for 23 hours and 3 minutes.
Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged or destroyed:
- In Znob-Novhorodske community, a private residential house and outbuildings were destroyed;
- In Khutir-Mykhailivske community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
- In Shostka community, civilian infrastructure facilities, private residential houses, and a non-residential premises were damaged;
- In Mykolaivka settlement community, a private residential house was damaged;
- In Velyka Pysarivka community, private residential houses were damaged;
- In Sumy community, a passenger vehicle was damaged;
- In Bilopillia community, a passenger vehicle was damaged;
- In Vilshanka community, as a result of enemy UAV attacks during the night of 7 February, a private residential house and civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged;
- In Nedryhailiv community, non-residential premises were damaged as a result of enemy UAV attacks during the night of 7 February.
Over the course of the day, local authorities jointly with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police Department, and civil society organisations evacuated three people from border communities.
Chernihiv oblast
Pavlo Miroshnychenko, Head of Koriukivka Regional Military Administration, reported that on the evening of 7 February, russian forces attacked Kuchynivka village by UAVs. A 26-year-old man was injured and received medical assistance. Residential and outbuilding structures were damaged. In addition, from the night of 8 February, as of 8am, Snovsk town has been under attack by russian drones.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, said that on 7 February, a Molniia-type russian UAV struck a village in Koriukivka community, damaging a library building. An FPV drone also hit a communications facility near the border.
According to Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, on 7 February, russian forces attacked Semenivka using tube artillery and FPV drones. As a result, private households and civilian infrastructure were damaged.

Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that over the course of 7 February, russian forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia, and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (two explosions), launched Molniia-type UAVs (two explosions) and Shahed-type UAVs (three explosions), conducted FPV drone attacks (30 explosions), and dropped an explosive device from a UAV (one explosion). Eleven settlements came under fire.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
According to Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, as a result of a UAV attack in Novooleksandrivka community, a 10-year-old boy was injured. Three private houses were damaged. The enemy shelled the district centre, as well as Pokrovske rural and Chervonohryhorivka communities by artillery.
The occupiers also attacked the region by artillery and drones, targeting the regional centre, Pokrovske rural, Myrove, Marhanets, and Chervonohryhorivka communities. In Nikopol, a 47-year-old woman and an 18-year-old girl were injured. A private house caught fire. Four private houses and two apartment buildings, two outbuildings, a vehicle, a power line, and gas pipelines were damaged. As a result of a UAV attack in Vasylkivka community, a 74-year-old woman was injured. A private house caught fire.
Poltava oblast
The Regional Military Administration reported that during the night, the occupiers attacked Poltava oblast. In Myrhorod region, fires broke out at several facilities of an enterprise as a result of direct hits and falling UAV debris.
Cherkasy oblast
In Cherkasy, a rally titled “Do Not Stay Silent — Captivity Kills” was held in support of prisoners of war and soldiers missing in action. More than one hundred people took part.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 8 russian attacks in Huliaipole and Orikhiv regions. 4 engagements are still ongoing. It is reported that Ukrainian defenders stopped russian attacks near the settlements of Solodke, Rivnopillia, Dorozhnianka and Kamianske.
On 7 February, Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled a total of 32 russian attacks in Huliaipole, Orikhiv and Oleksandrivka regions.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia, stated that on 7 February, the russian military carried out 577 strikes on the territory of 30 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. 1 person was killed and 8 injured as a result of russian attacks on Zaporizhzhia and Polohy region.
Mykolaiv oblast
Based on the information provided by Mykolaiv RMA, on 7 February, the russian army carried out 2 FPV drone attacks on Ochakiv community. There were no casualties reported.
Odesa oblast
Serhii Lysak, Head of Odesa CMA, reported that during the night, the russian military attacked an industrial facility in Odesa. The blast wave shattered windows in a religious building. Damage to residential buildings was minimal. Municipal services worked at the sites and promptly eliminated the consequences of the attack.

Volyn oblast
Hero Roman Sydoruk returns home “on the shield”. The soldier’s death was confirmed by DNA examination. The soldier was considered missing since 27 June 2023 during hostilities near the village of Khromove, Bakhmut region, Donetsk oblast.
Zakarpattia oblast
Inviolability Points in the oblast became a place of support for over 15,300 people during January. The largest number of visitors were received by such centers in Mukachevo, Rakhiv, Uzhhorod, Chop and Yasin – primarily at Ukrzaliznytsia stations, where they remain particularly needed.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
A partnership agreement has been signed between Nadvirna community and Bakhmatsk community located in Chernihiv oblast. The cooperation will be aimed at supporting people, developing territories, and implementing initiatives in the fields of culture, medicine, sports, youth policy, and economics.
Lviv oblast
An enemy drone was neutralized in the territory of Lviv community. The target of the attack was a critical infrastructure facility. There were no casualties.
Rivne oblast
The RMA reported that a man was killed in the morning attack on Rivne oblast on 7 February.
In the apartment buildings that were damaged by yesterday’s attack on Rivne oblast, all damaged windows have already been replaced. Next up is the installation of a new roof in one of the buildings.
Ternopil oblast
As of 7 February 2026, 114 points have been deployed in the oblast, including in administrative buildings of local governments, units of the State Emergency Service, at Ternopil railway station and with the participation of responsible businesses. 206 points are ready for immediate deployment. 187 of them are equipped with generators and can operate autonomously for up to 3 days. Another 19 points require additional equipment with generators.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi City Council has allocated funds for the rehabilitation of 71 servicemen. The total amount of assistance is over UAH 1m.
Chernivtsi oblast
The RMA reported that last year, Berehometsk community allocated UAH 3.2m for the needs of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
The European Commission has allocated €145m in humanitarian support for Ukraine. The funds will be used to provide protection, shelter, food, cash assistance, psychosocial support, access to water and health services for Ukrainians. It has also allocated €8m to Moldova to support refugees from Ukraine.
