What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:   

The enemy does not stop trying to advance deep into the territory of Ukraine, the defense forces are holding back the invaders, causing them significant losses.

On 7 February, the number of enemy attacks was 80.

Border regions of Ukraine continue to suffer from russian shelling. Rohizne, Iskryskivshchyna, Neskuchne, Bezsalivka, Ryzhivka, Volfyne, Studenok, Kucherivka in Sumy oblast were affected.

Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, there were seven clashes, two of which are still ongoing, the enemy carried out 45 attacks on settlements and positions of Ukrainian units, including four from multiple launch rocket systems.

Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy attacked eight times in the vicinity of Zelene, Starytsia, Vovchansk and Vovchanski Khutory. Two clashes are ongoing.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian soldiers four times in the vicinity of Petropavlivka and Pishchane.

Towards Lyman, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 11 attacks by the invaders in the vicinity of the settlements of Kopanky, Seredne, Novoselivka, Stavky, Drobysheve, and Zarichne. Four clashes are ongoing.

Towards Slaviansk, russians once tried to advance on the positions of Ukrainian troops near Platonivka.

Towards Kramatorsk, the enemy attacked twice in the vicinity of Vasiukivka and Orikhovo-Vasylivka.

Towards Kostiantynivka, the invaders carried out 13 offensive actions near Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar, Ivanopilliz, Illinivka, and Stepanivka. Two attacks are ongoing.

Towards Pokrovsk, russian occupiers made 19 attempts to push Ukrainian soldiers from the occupied positions in the vicinity of the settlements of Vilne, Novyi Donbas, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Udachne, Molodetske, Filiia, Serhiivka, Novopidhorodne, and Novopavlivka. The defense forces are holding back the onslaught and repelled 14 attacks.

Towards Oleksandrivka, one battle is ongoing in the vicinity of ​​Pryvillia. The enemy launched airstrikes in the vicinity of Pokrovske and Orly.

Towards Huliaipole, the Ukrainian defenders repelled seven attacks in the vicinity of ​​Huliaipole, Sviatopetrivka, and Olenokostiantynivka. Two battles are still ongoing. The enemy launched airstrikes, in particular, in the vicinity of the settlements of Novosoloshyne, Liubitske, and Barvinivka.

Towards Orikhiv, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders six times in the vicinity of Maly Shcherbaky, Stepnohirsk, Pavlivka and Lukianivske.

Towards Kherson, the enemy made one unsuccessful attack.

In other areas, there were no significant changes in the situation.

Ukrainian troops are exhausting the enemy along the entire line of combat contact and in the rear.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

There were 153 combat clashes in the oblast.

Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy tried ten times to break through the defensive lines of Ukrainian defenders, in the vicinity of the settlements of Vovchansk, Dvorichanske and towards Prylipka, Kutkivka, Fiholivka.

Towards Kupiansk, there were two combat clashes near ​​Pishchane.

City Mayor Ihor Terekhov reports that in Kharkiv, a russian UAV of the Shahed type was recorded hitting Kholodnohirskyi district at 02:37.

Stepan Maselskyi, Head of Izium military administration, says that russian military targeted a train locomotive in Barvinkove ​​in Kharkiv oblast with a drone. Power lines and railway tracks were damaged, there were no injuries.

Over the past day, 12 settlements of the oblast were hit by enemy strikes.

One person died and 5 were injured as a result of the shelling.

In the village of Bilyi Kolodiaz, Vovchansk community, a 58-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man were injured; on the road between the village of Tsupivka and the village of Prudianka, Derhachi community, a 50-year-old man was killed and a 50-year-old woman was injured; in the village of Osynove, Kindrashivka community, a 33-year-old man was injured; in the village of Kivsharivka, Kupiansk community, a 57-year-old woman was injured.

The enemy actively used various types of weapons in the Kharkiv region:

▪️4 UAVs of the Geran-2 type;

▪️1 UAV of the Lancet type;

▪️2 UAVs of the Molniya type;

▪️4 fpv drones;

▪️12 UAVs (type to be determined).

Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:

▪️In Bohodukhiv region, a private house was damaged (Kostiantynivka village);

▪️In Kupiansk region, a private house was damaged (Shypuvate village), an apartment building (Kivsharivka village);

▪️In Kharkiv region, a car was damaged (Slatyne village);

▪️In Chuhuiv region, a private house was damaged (Kotivka village), a private house (Bily Kolodyaz village).

The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 75 people. A total of 18,333 people have been registered at the Point since the start of work.

Donetsk oblast

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the russian army carried out 41 assaults towards Pokrovsk. The Ukrainian military repelled attacks near Vilne, Zatyshok, Myrnohrad, Novooleksandrivka, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novopidhorodne, Molodetske, Dachne, Filiia, Shevchenko and Toretske.

More than ten battles were recorded towards Sloviansk and Kostiantynivka.

Oleksandr Honcharenko, Head of the RMA, informs that in the morning, at about 3:40, the russian army carried out three airstrikes on the private sector of Kramatorsk. One person was injured.

The RMA reports that two peoplewere killed due to russian shelling over the past day in Dobropillia and Oleksiivo-Druzhkivka. Three more people were injured in attacks on Mykolaivka, Orikhuvatka, and Oleksiivo-Druzhkivka.

On February 6, there were 1,351 enemy strikes on the front line and residential areas of the region.

11 settlements were under fire: the cities of Dobropillia, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Mykolaivka, the villages of Krasnotorka, Oleksiivo-Druzhkivka, Zaparo-Marivka, Kindrativka, Orikhuvatka, and Pryvillia.

41 civilian objects were destroyed, including 20 residential buildings.

In Dobropillya, the Russians killed a civilian with an FPV drone strike.

In Oleksiivo-Druzhkivka, one person was killed and one injured.

The enemy attacked Mykolaivka with three GAB-250 bombs and an FPV drone – a person was injured, an infrastructure facility was damaged, a car was destroyed.

russian troops hit Orikhuvatka with a GAB-250 bomb and an FPV drone – one person was injured, 10 private houses were damaged.

The invaders sent three Molniya-2 UAVs to Kramatorsk – an apartment building, an indoor market, and a shopping kiosk were damaged. Today, at about 03:40, three more strikes occurred – information about the victims and damage is being established.

As a result of drone attacks, an apartment building and an ambulance were damaged in Druzhkivka, 6 private houses in Zaparo-Marivka, and a civilian car in Krasnotorka.

russia hit Pryvillia with two GAB-250 bombs – 2 private houses, a company, critical infrastructure were damaged. An educational institution was damaged in Kindratovka.

 Luhansk oblast

Towards Slaviansk, there were 11 russian assaults. The enemy made six more attempts to advance towards Lyman – near Tverdokhlibove. There, it used rocket artillery and struck six times from mortar installations. It also used drones and fpv drones.

The demonstration restoration in Lysychansk has taken on new forms. Recently, the contractors did not have enough materials to repair the damaged high-rise building. The solution was found simply and quickly – to dismantle the double-glazed windows and doors from the facility that they had previously handed over. The main thing is that on paper the work is completed on both buildings.

The population that remained in Sievierskodonetsk receives bills for heating. They are sent to those whose batteries were supposed to warm up during the current heating season, and to those whose houses were promised to be supplied with heat in the fall of 2024. In fact, it is cold in most high-rise buildings.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

According to the Regional Military Administration, as a result of a night-time enemy attack by UAVs in the Boryspil district, storage facilities and a logistics centre belonging to one of the enterprises in the town of Yahotyn were damaged. In the Brovary district, five private houses and four cars were damaged.

Emergency power cuts have been introduced in Kyiv oblast. Critical infrastructure facilities and mobile stations have been switched to backup power sources. Currently, 530 points of invulnerability are operating.

DTEK reported that due to enemy attacks on the country’s energy facilities, emergency power cuts are in effect in Kyiv. Schedules are ineffective.

Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko stated that nearly 990 State Emergency Service rescuers and over 300 units of special equipment are involved in restoration efforts in Kyiv.

Kyiv currently has 1,395 Resilience Centres in operation. These include 211 State Emergency Service aid stations set up in tents. The locations are autonomous and equipped with heat and electricity generators. On 5 November alone, almost 9,000 people visited them, and since the centres began operating, almost 174,000 have visited.

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna opened an ‘Unbreakable Centre’ in Kyiv. There, Ukrainians can find shelter, warmth and psychological support amid russian aggression and prolonged power and heating outages. According to the minister, this centre should help disrupt russia’s attempts to break the spirit of Ukrainians.

The Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that two apartment buildings in Makariv, significantly damaged by russian military aggression, have been restored. Individual heating, gas and electricity supply, water supply and sewerage, balconies and loggias have been restored in the buildings. Shelters have been set up in the basements. All work was financed by the Fund for the Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression by the russian Federation.

Motyzhyn Lyceum was also rebuilt in the Makariv community. As a result of the hostilities, the assembly hall and sports hall were burned down, classrooms were damaged, and the russians stole and destroyed equipment. Currently, the educational process has already been resumed at the lyceum. 

Zhytomyr oblast

On 5 February, a residential building for displaced persons who lost their homes as a result of hostilities or russian occupation was officially opened in Ovruch. Thirty-six apartments in the building were furnished with funding from the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV). An Estonian delegation led by Margus Tsahkna, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia, attended the opening ceremony.

Sumy oblast

 The Regional Military Administration reported that on 6 February, a 31-year-old woman was killed in Mykolaivka rural community after a russian UAV struck her vehicle. The vehicle caught fire while the woman was driving.

Sumy Oblast Prosecutor’s Office informed that in Myropillia community on 6 February, local residents discovered the body of a 52-year-old man. According to preliminary information, he died the previous day as a result of a drone strike.

A 38-year-old woman sought medical assistance after being injured in Sumy community on 4 February as a result of an enemy UAV attack.

Over the course of the day, from the morning of 6 February to the morning of 7 February, russian forces carried out more than 70 attacks on 53 settlements across 27 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, FPV drones, UAVs, and guided aerial bombs. Over the day, air raid alerts in the oblast lasted for 23 hours and 50 minutes.

Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged or destroyed:

  • In Shostka community, a non-residential building, private residential houses, and a tractor were damaged;
  • In Znob-Novhorodske community, a private residential house was damaged;
  • In Shalyhyne community, a private residential house and outbuildings were damaged;
  • In Krolevets community, civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged;
  • In Krasnopillia community, a vehicle was damaged;
  • In Bilopillia community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
  • In Mykolaivka rural community, a house of culture was damaged and a private passenger vehicle was destroyed;
  • In Nova Slobidka community, a private residential house was damaged;
  • In Vilshanka community, a private residential house was damaged;
  • In Sumy community, in addition to the apartment building damaged on the morning of 6 February, a passenger vehicle was also damaged.

Over the course of the day, local authorities jointly with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police Department, and civil society organisations evacuated 26 people from border communities.

Eight projects from Sumy oblast have been selected for funding under the Ukraine Recovery Programme III. The initiative is being implemented by the Government of Ukraine in cooperation with the European Investment Bank. The selected projects include the repair and reconstruction of medical facilities in Konotop and Okhtyrka communities; the construction of shelters in Sumy and Okhtyrka; the modernisation of drainage systems in Sumy and Hlukhiv; and the construction of a water supply system in Trostianets community.

The Regional Military Administration announced that in Sumy oblast, 276 people have applied for housing vouchers. The first stage of the programme covers internally displaced persons from temporarily occupied territories with combatant status, as well as people who acquired disabilities as a result of the war.

Chernihiv oblast

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, reported that during the night, a Shahed UAV attacked transport infrastructure in Nizhyn region. Earlier, a Molniia-type UAV strike was recorded on a communications facility near the border in Chernihiv oblast.

On the morning of 6 February, russian forces attacked the border town of Semenivka by Molniia strike UAVs. As a result of the attack, an apartment building housing a shop and several private houses were damaged. In addition, a power supply line was damaged.

Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that over the course of 6 February, russian forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia, and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (six explosions), tube artillery strikes (three explosions), and MLRS attacks (20 explosions), as well as Molniia-type UAV strikes (five explosions) and FPV drone attacks (22 explosions). Ten settlements came under fire.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the RMA, reported that as a result of a UAV attack in Dnipro city, a transport enterprise was damaged. The enemy attacked Synelnykove, Mezhova, Petropavlivka and Raivka communities by UAVs. A 68-year-old woman was injured. A fire station, 3 houses and a vehicle were damaged. The occupiers shelled Marhanets and Chervonohryhorivka communities by artillery.

The russian forces carried out drone and artillery strikes on the regional centre, Marhanetsk, Myrove and Chervonohryhorivka communities. 4 private houses, 6 apartment buildings, 2 outbuildings, a veterinary clinic, an art school, a lyceum, a bank, a café and 2 vehicles were damaged; another vehicle destroyed. Also, power lines were damaged. The enemy attacked the area by KABs and UAVs, targeting Synelnykove and Pokrovske, Petropavlivka and Slavhorod communities. 6 people were injured, including children: a 4-year-old boy and a 17-year-old youth. Fires broke out, damaging outbuildings. 7 private houses were damaged, 1 house destroyed, along with 6 outbuildings and a garage.

Vinnytsia oblast

In Ladyzhyn city, russian forces struck the administrative building of an agricultural college by drones. Dormitories and several other buildings were damaged. More than 150 windows were shattered and a wall of one of the buildings was destroyed.

Kirovohrad oblast

In Novomyrhorod city, Novoukrainka region, a 2nd rally in support of prisoners of war and missing servicemen took place. The action, titled If Millions Shout, the World Will Hear, was attended by relatives of soldiers, residents and representatives of authorities.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, reported that during the night, air defence forces shot down 6 russian UAVs over Cherkasy oblast. Drone debris and the blast wave damaged at least 3 private houses, outbuildings and several vehicles.

One person sought medical assistance. According to preliminary information, the man was diagnosed with an acute stress reaction.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that a 62-year-old woman was killed as a result of a russian attack on Zhovta Krucha village in Zaporizhzhia oblast. 2 women, aged 62 and 65, were injured. The russian forces carried out at least 5 strikes by guided aerial bombs, destroying and damaging private houses.

The Regional Military Administration reported that on 7 February, russian troops shelled Vilniansk city. As a result, buildings were destroyed and damaged.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, informed that a 7-year-old boy and a 54-year-old woman were injured as a result of a russian strike on Zaporizhzhia oblast. A private house was destroyed and a fire broke out, which was extinguished by the State Emergency Service.

The SES of Zaporizhzhia oblast reported that on 6 February, 6 people were injured as a result of fires that occurred in the Zaporizhzhia oblast following russian attacks. In total, 7 fires were recorded in Zaporizhzhia oblast due to shelling.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 6 February, russian forces attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops on Huliaipole axis 21 times. Clashes took place in the areas of Huliaipole, Pryluky, Staroukrainka, as well as towards Sviatopetrivka, Zaliznychne, Zelene and Krynychne.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, stated that on 6 February, russian forces carried out more than 570 strikes on the territory of 39 cities and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. 10 people were injured as a result of russian attacks on Zaporizhzhia city, the surrounding area and Polohy region. In particular, 345 UAVs of various types, predominantly FPV drones, attacked Zaporizhzhia, Vilniansk, Balabyne, Sofiivka, Bilenke, Veselyi Hai, Spasivka, Mykilske, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Lukianivske, Pavlivka, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Zaliznychne, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, Zelene, Staroukrainka, Dobropillia and Pryluky.

The Yellow Ribbon resistance movement said that in the temporarily occupied city of Tokmak, residents who do not support the actions of the occupation authorities will be added to a so-called “registry of controlled persons”. Inclusion in this registry reportedly entails restrictions on travel, dismissal from employment, financial limitations, asset blocking and other measures.

Mykolaiv oblast

According to Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, on 6 February, russian forces attacked Ochakiv community 6 times by FPV drones. There were no injuries reported.

Odesa oblast

According to the DTEK (the Ukrainian energy distribution company), in Odesa oblast, emergency power outages were implemented on the instructions of Ukrenergo due to a massive russian attack.

The Patrol Police of Ukraine stated that officer Denys Kharchenko, who sustained severe injuries during a russian attack on Odesa on the night of 31 December, died in hospital. He was 42 years old and is survived by 2 children.

Kherson oblast

According to Kherson RMA, at approximately 2:10pm, russian occupying forces shelled Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. Women aged 71 and 70, as well as a 93-year-old man, were injured. All sustained blast injuries, and one of the women suffered shrapnel wounds to the head and arms. The victims were taken to hospital for medical assistance.

At around 8:20am, russian forces again shelled Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. Women aged 53, 50, 40 and 46, and men aged 40 and 49, sustained blast injuries. All were hospitalised.

On 6 February, 9 people were injured as a result of russian aggression. Under enemy drone terror, air strikes and artillery shelling were Dariivka, Beryslav, Shevchenkivka, Nova Kamianka, Novoraisk, Sofiivka, Shyroka Balka, Stanislav, Oleksandrivka, Vysoke, Prydniprovske, Antonivka, Kizomys, Sadove, Dniprovske, Osokorivka, Chervonyi Yar, Burhunka, Vesele, Dudchany, Zmiivka, Odradokamianka, Novokairy, Poniativka, Chervonyi Maiak, Rozlyv and Kherson. The russian forces targeted critical and social infrastructure, including residential areas. As a result, 3 high-rise buildings and 8 private houses were damaged. The occupiers also damaged a church, a warehouse, a private garage, cars, a minibus and a route bus.

It also became known that a resident of Antonivka died as a result of a russian shelling on 1 February. The 40-year-old man sustained injuries incompatible with life.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Over the past day, the region has been on alert several times in each district due to enemy Shahed UAVs. As a result of one of the attacks, a critical infrastructure facility in the oblast was damaged. All relevant services are working on the scene. The consequences are being eliminated. There are no injuries or deaths.

Zakarpattia oblast

The oblast is changing the format of supporting social projects from the public sector. This year, the oblast is introducing two separate competitions instead of one: for veteran initiatives and for social projects.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

This night, the enemy launched a massive attack on Ivano-Frankivsk oblast. The target was an energy facility. In addition, 20 private houses and 6 households were damaged due to the massive enemy attack on the Carpathians.

Lviv oblast

During the night and morning, Lviv oblast experienced a massive attack by combat drones and missiles. During the alert, which lasted for more than 6 hours, critical energy infrastructure facilities were damaged. In the village of Stary Dobrotvir, a residential building caught fire, previously due to being hit by an enemy drone. Firefighters were working on the scene. The fire has already been extinguished. There was no information about victims or injured as of this hour. The Air Defense managed to shoot down some of the drones. At least two missiles of an unidentified model were also shot down. Due to the attack on a critical infrastructure facility in Dobrotvir, 6,000 local residents are without water and heat, and the power outages may last much longer.

Rivne oblast

That night, the enemy launched a massive attack on the oblast. There is a hit on a critical infrastructure facility. The drone hit private homes. An apartment building was damaged. Two people were injured. Power outages are currently in effect. Power engineers are working on restoration.

1200 sqm of roof, 4 doors and 32 windows need to be replaced in the house that was the target of an enemy attack this morning. 6 of its residents have been temporarily relocated. Another three dozen windows need to be replaced in the neighboring house. Currently, the municipal services of the tergroma are carrying out restoration work. All necessary measurements have been taken, and new windows and doors will soon begin to be installed. There is a heating point in the yard. If necessary, other residents of the affected houses will also be provided with temporary housing.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil specialists from the Ternopilvodokanal KP helped Kyiv in eliminating the consequences of the emergency situation due to massive russian shelling. After enemy strikes on the energy sector, thousands of Kyiv residents were left without heat in 20-degree frost. Utility workers worked for 10 days, sometimes 13-14 hours a day – they boiled pipes, heated them manually, replaced cracked batteries, and turned on the heating. Thanks to the utility workers, they managed to restore heat in about 11-12 houses.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

This night, the enemy carried out a missile and drone attack on Khmelnytskyi oblast. As a result of the attack, 30 windows in the cattle breeding building of one of the agricultural production cooperatives were damaged. A man born in 1971 was injured – he received a leg injury. The injured person was hospitalized to a medical facility, his health condition is satisfactory.

During an air alert in the region, the air defense forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down/suppressed one cruise missile and 7 enemy UAVs.

Chernivtsi oblast

As a result of enemy attacks on energy facilities in other regions, 4.5–5 rounds of emergency shutdown schedules have now been applied throughout Ukraine, including in Chernivtsi oblast.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The Head of the European Commission presented the 20th package of sanctions against russia.

  • Complete ban on maritime services for Russian oil (in coordination with the G7).
  • 43 vessels have been added to the “shadow fleet” list (total – 640).
  • Restrictions on the purchase of tankers, prohibition of services for LNG tankers and icebreakers.
  • Supplement to the LNG import ban (package No. 19, RepowerEU).
  • Sanctions against 20 regional banks in the russian federation.
  • Strikes on cryptocurrencies, companies, and platforms that help circumvent sanctions.
  • Restrictions on banks in third countries that facilitate illegal trade with the russian federation.

The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry summoned a representative of the russian embassy and expressed a protest over the attacks on energy facilities in Ukraine.
