Ukrainian defenders continue to resolutely repel enemy attempts to advance deeper into our territory, inflicting fire damage on them.
Russian invaders carried out 55 air strikes, dropping 127 guided bombs. In addition, they used 1,964 kamikaze drones and carried out 2,869 shelling attacks on the positions of our troops and populated areas.
There were 15 combat clashes towards North Slobozhanske and Kursk. The enemy carried out three air strikes, dropping eight guided bombs, and carried out 102 shelling attacks, including seven with multiple launch rocket systems.
The enemy attacked nine times towards South Slobozhanske in the areas of the settlements of Prylipka, Synelnykove, and in the direction of Izbytske, Obukhivka, and Kolodiazne.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy carried out 24 attacks in the direction of Kupiansk, Petropavlivka, Kucherivka, Pishchane, Novoplatonivka, Holubivka, and Nova Kruhliakivka. Three combat engagements are ongoing.
Towards Lyman, the Defence Forces repelled 27 assaults towards Torske and towards the settlements of Lyman, Stepove, Korovii Yar, Zarichne, Drobysheve, Novoselivka, Stavky, and Hluschenkove. Two combat engagements are ongoing.
Towards Sloviansk, the enemy attacked four times in the areas of Siversk, Serebrianka and towards Pazeno. One combat engagement is currently ongoing.
Towards Kramatorsk, the enemy attacked the positions of our defenders once in the direction of Bondarny.
Towards Kostiantynivka, 16 combat clashes took place today. The enemy attempted to storm the positions of Ukrainian units near Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Rusyn Yar, Yablunivka, and in the direction of Sofiivka.
Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy has attacked 60 times in the areas of the settlements of Kotlyne, Udachne and towards Rivne, Myrnohrad, Rodynske, Hryshyne, Zvirove, Serhiivka, Novopavlivka, Filiia, Nove Shakhove, Dorozhne, and Sukhetske. Six of these attacks are currently ongoing.
According to preliminary data, 220 occupiers have been neutralised in this direction, 143 of whom are irretrievably dead. In addition, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed three tanks, 12 vehicles, four armoured combat vehicles, one motorcycle, nine unmanned aerial vehicles, five pieces of special equipment, and two personnel shelters. Three vehicles, a BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket system, and seven enemy personnel shelters were damaged.
Towards Oleksandrivka, Ukrainian defenders repelled 20 attacks by the invaders in the areas of the settlements of Zelenyi Hai, Sichneve, Krasnohirsk, Zlahoda, Rybne, and in the direction of Ivanivka, Iskra, Oleksandrohrad, Verbove, and Pryvilne. The enemy launched an air strike in the area of the settlement of Ivanivka.
Towards Huliaipole, there were 28 combat engagements in the area of the settlement of Solodke and towards Varvarivka and Huliaipole. The enemy launched air strikes with guided bombs on Vozdvyzhivka and Zaliznychne.
Towards Orikhiv, the enemy made eight unsuccessful attempts to break through our defences in the areas of the settlements of Shcherbaky, Stepove and in the directions of Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka and Prymorske.
There were no significant changes in the situation in other directions.
The State Emergency Service, together with the Air Force and the Regional Military Administration, launched a division into districts throughout the country, except for Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. Differentiating the signal by specific areas will help reduce the duration of alerts in communities where there is no real threat at a given moment. Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said that the new approach has already significantly reduced the duration of alerts. This is especially noticeable in the frontline and central regions.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
Towards South-Slobozhanske, the Defence Forces repelled seven russian attacks in the areas of the settlements of Prylipka, Synelnykove, and in the direction of Izbytske, Obukhivka, and Kolodiazne.
Towards Kupiansk, the occupiers attempted 22 times to dislodge Ukrainian units from their positions towards Kupiansk, Petropavlivka, Kucherivka, Pishchane, Novoplatonivka, and Holubivka. As of 4pm, ten combat engagements were still ongoing.
Over the past day, 151 combat clashes were recorded.
Towards South Slobozhanske, our troops stopped four enemy attacks in Prylipka and Obukhivka.
Yesterday, there was one attack by the invaders towards Kupiansk. Our defenders repelled the enemy’s assault in the Pishchane area.
According to a report on 16 December by the 16th Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vovchanski Khutory is under the control of the Ukrainian Defence Force. Russian troops tried to storm the village several times, including on quad bikes and motorcycles, but were spotted on the approaches, got tangled up in engineering barriers and were destroyed by UAV strikes and artillery; Ukrainian troops are also conducting search and strike operations towards Vovchansk.
Ukrainian defence forces continue their operation to clear Kupiansk of russian troops. According to the National Guard’s Charter, up to 200 occupiers may remain in the city, hiding in high-rise buildings. Some of them are surrendering, while others are putting up armed resistance. The Ukrainian military completely controls the approaches to the city and has cut off the enemy’s logistics. Russian servicemen are trying to disguise themselves as civilians and search for food. Units of the National Guard, mechanised and assault brigades, as well as the Main Intelligence Directorate are involved in the operation. Earlier, the Defence Forces liberated a number of settlements near Kupiansk, reached the Oskil River and blocked the ground routes of the russian troops’ advance. The Ukrainian side refutes the russian leadership’s reports of the alleged capture of Kupiansk.
Russian FPV drones attacked Zavadske in Zolochiv community at around 3pm. Head Viktor Kovalenko reported that the strikes damaged a private house, farm buildings and power lines. There were no casualties.

As a result of a hostile UAV strike on the village of Chervone in Blyzniukivka community at around 10:40am, two girls aged 12 and 17 and a 61-year-old woman suffered acute stress reactions. Medical personnel provided them with the necessary assistance on site. A fire broke out in a private house.

Over the past day, seven settlements in Kharkiv oblast were hit by enemy strikes.
Medics provided assistance to a 66-year-old man who was injured as a result of shelling in Kupiansk on 28 November; a 53-year-old woman who was injured as a result of shelling in Kupiansk on 12 December; a 57-year-old man who was injured as a result of shelling in the village of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi on 7 December.
The enemy actively used various types of weapons in Kharkiv oblast:
▪️3 KAB;
▪️2 UAVs of the Geran-2 type;
▪️2 UAVs of the Molniya type;
▪️1 FPV drone;
▪️2 UAVs (type to be determined).
Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:
▪️a cultural institution was damaged in Kupiansk region (Velykyi Burluk);
▪️a private house was damaged in Kharkiv region (Bezruky);
▪️2 private houses damaged in Chuhuiv region (Petropavlivka village, Lyman village).
The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 94 people during the day. 49 people remain. A total of 14,918 people have been registered at the point since it began operating.
Andrii Kanashevych, Head of Kupiansk Regional Military Administration, reported that the mandatory forced evacuation of children from certain settlements in Kupiansk region has been completed, but 42 children and their families remain in dangerous communities. The evacuation was announced on 14 October in 40 settlements (601 children from 409 families); as of 1 December, 243 children remained there, and as of 11 December, 114 children from 80 families remained.
Two categories of facilities were excluded from the critical infrastructure lists: consumers with a capacity of up to 100kW, as well as facilities to which other consumers are connected that are subject to general restriction schedules. According to the RMA, the revision does not apply to base hospitals, life support facilities, and defence and industrial complex enterprises. As a result, at least 800MW of electrical power has been freed up in the power system, which will reduce the duration of power cuts for the population and industry, particularly in Kharkiv oblast.
Donetsk oblast
The intensity of attacks has increased towards Sloviansk: russian troops are carrying out up to seven assaults per day in Siversk itself. Previously, the occupiers carried out 2-3 attacks per day in the area of the city. Stepan Barna, commander of the Barni UAV unit of the 10th OGShB Edelweiss, said that the russian army is using small groups, artillery, aviation and KABs.
On the night of 16 December, the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces struck the Uragan multiple launch rocket system depots and russian troop concentrations using FP-2 strike UAVs. In particular, in the area of the village of Blahodatne, SSO operators struck a storage facility for BM-27 Uragan multiple launch rocket systems and the location of the crews servicing these installations. In addition, a russian personnel gathering point was struck in Pokrovsk.
Andrii Shapovalov, chief sergeant of the 3rd Mechanised Battalion of the Kholodnyi Yar 93rd Mechanised Brigade, call sign Chornyi, reported that towards Kostiantynivka, russian troops are using “manpower”, with small groups attempting to advance either on motorcycles or other motorised vehicles. Sometimes they resort to mechanised assaults. The russians are actively using the tactic of infiltrating small groups, trying to bypass strongholds and gain a foothold behind Ukrainian defenders. As the military noted, such attempts were also made against Kostiantynivka itself — separate russian groups tried to enter the city directly, but they were destroyed.
According to the 28th Mechanised Brigade, Ukrainian strike UAVs towards Kostiantynivka destroyed seven russian cannons, more than ten pieces of equipment, a ground radar station, and a rare Grad-P multiple launch rocket system.
The Ministry of Energy stated that as a result of night strikes on the energy infrastructure of Donetsk oblast, as of this morning, consumers in the region are completely without power. Emergency repair work has already begun. In Donetsk oblast, 427,000 consumers remain without electricity.
The 7th Corps of the Airborne Forces said that russian troops are most active on the western outskirts of Pokrovsk, trying to break through towards Hryshyne and increasing pressure on the south-eastern districts of the city of Myrnohrad. In particular, Rivne is under the control of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
On 15 December, the police recorded 1,896 strikes on the front line and residential areas.
Fifteen settlements were under fire.
Thirty civilian objects were destroyed, including 18 residential buildings.
The russians dropped six KAB-250 aerial bombs on Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, injuring six people and damaging homes.
The occupiers struck Druzhkivka with four KAB-250 bombs and FPV drones, injuring two civilians. Seven private houses and vehicles were destroyed.
Two people were injured as a result of artillery shelling in Kostiantynivka.
A civilian was wounded in the village of Maiaky as a result of an attack by a Lancet UAV.
One person was injured as a result of enemy strikes in Lyman.
Kramatorsk withstood eight attacks, with Russia striking the city with Molniya UAVs and KAB-250 aerial bombs. An apartment building, five private houses, an educational institution, a business centre, critical infrastructure and a car were damaged.
Sviatohirsk Military Administration stated that families with children are being forcibly evacuated from Sviatohirsk, Bohorodychne, Tetianivka, Dolyna, Krasnopillia, Mazanivka, Maiaky, Sydorove, and Pryshyb. The decision was made due to the deterioration of the security situation.
Nova Poshta announced the closure of its last operating branch in Sviatohirsk. In November alone, residents of Sviatohirsk sent and received 3,458 parcels, an average of 115 shipments per day. The company notes that the decision was made due to the critical deterioration of the security situation. Currently, there are 37 branches operating in the region, with two more planned to open by the end of the year. The network of post offices is also expanding.
Luhansk oblast
Over the past day, russian troops attempted to advance 19 times near nine settlements towards Lyman and Sloviansk. In the area of responsibility of the Defence Forces, the enemy used mortars, automatic grenade launchers and actively used FPV drones.
For more than 3.5 years, no restoration work has begun in Hirske and Zolote after the destruction caused during the assaults. Due to damage to infrastructure in populated areas, there is no centralised water supply, and local residents are forced to provide themselves with drinking water.
Since 2022, the occupying authorities have repeatedly announced the construction of a landfill in Siverskodonetsk, but the start date has been repeatedly postponed. No funding has been allocated from the state budget, and it has not been possible to attract investors even for the development of project documentation.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
On 20 December, the Kyiv Regional Centre for Training the Population for National Resistance will conduct a one-day training course for residents. The programme includes tactical medicine, tactical training (including the basics of CQB), and practical familiarisation with AK and AR systems. The instructors are veterans of the Third Assault Brigade, Azov, and other top units.
The Regional Military Administration reported that construction of a veterans’ space is underway in Bucha. It will include a gym for physical rehabilitation and active recovery, psychological and social support rooms, rooms for individual work, co-working, conference rooms, a café, a reception area, and a children’s area. In total, more than 80,000 veterans live in Kyiv oblast today, with about 13,000 of them having disabilities as a result of the war.
Bucha Mayor Anatoliy Fedoruk said that solar panels at educational institutions in the Bucha community saved more than 600,000 hryvnias in the first half of the year. Alternative energy also helped community medical facilities reduce energy costs by more than 20% , and water supply and sanitation facilities by 27%. According to him, the savings remain in the community budget and are directed towards its development.
Zhytomyr oblast
The regional military administration reported that to date, 1,694 applications for compensation for the restoration of housing with minor damage and 279 applications for compensation for destroyed housing have been submitted in Zhytomyr oblast using the electronic public service ‘eRestoration’.
According to the city council, On 15 December, seven families of internally displaced persons living in Zhytomyr received keys to municipal flats. The accommodation was arranged by renovating non-residential premises. The flats are furnished and equipped with household appliances. The German government provided the funds for the project.
Sumy oblast
Between the morning of 15 December and the morning of 16 December, russian forces carried out nearly 20 attacks on 11 settlements across eight territorial communities in the oblast. The highest number of strikes was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used artillery, mortars, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Air-raid alerts in the oblast lasted a total of 4 hours and 30 minutes over the past day.
The Regional Military Administration reported that at around 10:30am on 15 December, a 68-year-old cyclist was killed in Velyka Pysarivka community as a result of a russian drone strike. A 72-year-old resident of the community, who had been injured in a russian drone attack the previous day, also sought medical assistance. He is receiving the necessary medical care.
In Hlukhiv community, a 60-year-old man was injured in an FPV-drone strike. He was taken to hospital.
Civilian infrastructure was damaged or destroyed as follows:
- in Yunakivka community, a private residential house was damaged;
- in Hlukhivka community, a private residential house and an outbuilding were damaged;
- in Esman community, a private household was destroyed;
- in Shalyhyne community, a private house was destroyed and adjacent structures were damaged;
- in Seredyno-Buda community, a private house and a vehicle were damaged.
Over the past 24 hours, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police and non-governmental organisations from border communities, evacuated three people.
Chernihiv oblast
The National Police in Chernihiv oblast reported that in Chernihiv oblast, a private house was damaged in a russian attack on 16 December in Kulikivska community.
Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, reported that on the night of 15–16 December, russian forces attacked an agricultural enterprise in Koropska community. The shelling killed cattle and damaged equipment and a cowshed at the farm.
Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that over the course of 15 December, russian troops attacked four villages in Semenivka and Horodnia communities. The enemy carried out 21 mortar strikes and one FPV-drone strike.
According to the National Police in Chernihiv oblast, in Chernihiv region, police explosives experts neutralised an unexploded warhead from a russian strike UAV. It was found near a settlement where the drone had hit an outbuilding of an agricultural enterprise.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Regional Military Administration, announced that this year, Chernihiv oblast received UAH 124.5m. to purchase homes for 50 veteran families. On 15 December, 13 housing certificates were handed over to Ukrainian defenders. In 2025, the oblast received nearly UAH 86m. from the state, funding 33 homes for defenders’ families. Twenty-six veterans have already purchased housing.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Nikopol region. The enemy attacked the region by drones and artillery. Strikes targeted the regional centre, Myrove, Marhanetsk, Pokrovske and Chervonohryhorivka communities. A filling station, an agricultural enterprise and infrastructure facilities were damaged.
Air defence forces destroyed 8 enemy UAVs.
50 attacks across the oblast: the enemy terrorised 2 regions of Dnipropetrovsk oblast.
Nikopol region. The russian forces shelled the regional centre, Myrove, Marhanetsk, Pokrovske and Chervonohryhorivka communities, by drones and artillery. 2 outbuildings, infrastructure, a non-operational building, 2 private houses, an enterprise, 2 vehicles and a filling station were damaged.
Kryvyi Rih region. FPV drones were launched at Hrushivka community.
Vinnytsia oblast
Mayor Serhii Morhunov reported that Vinnytsia oblast once again handed over FPV drones and a vehicle to 5 units of the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
Kirovohrad oblast
In Kropyvnytskyi, residents paid tribute to 4 servicemen: Viktor Krasiuk, Andrii Petriv, Vladyslav Hovor and Mykola Bondarenko.
Viktor Krasiuk was killed during military service on 10 December at the age of 51.
Andrii Petriv sustained fatal wounds on 5 December while withdrawing from positions near Hryshyne village, Pokrovsk region, Donetsk oblast. He was posthumously awarded the Cross of the Hero.
Vladyslav Hovor was killed on 29 July 2024 while carrying out a combat mission near Paraskoviivka village, Pokrovsk region, Donetsk oblast. He had been considered missing in action for one year and four months. In November, DNA testing confirmed his death.
Mykola Bondarenko was killed on 27 November 2024 near Yelyzavetivka village, Pokrovsk region, Donetsk oblast, after which he had been considered missing in action. His death was confirmed by DNA testing in December.
Poltava oblast
Yurii Yemets was killed while carrying out a combat mission near Chumatske settlement, Donetsk oblast. He was a native of Opishnia.
Soldiers Denys Lapshyn, Viktor Tereshchenko and Andrii Symonenko were also killed. They were natives of the Sencha, Shyshaky and Lubny communities respectively.
Andrii Symonenko was killed on 27 October 2024 as a result of russian assault operations near Krasnohorivka settlement, Donetsk oblast.
Viktor Tereshchenko was killed on 23 November 2024 while performing military duties near Hryhorivka settlement, Donetsk oblast.
Denys Lapshyn was killed on 4 March 2025 during combat operations in Kursk oblast.
In Poltava oblast, UAH 80.7m was allocated for defence support in 2025 under the Poltava Resistance program. Assistance from local communities was provided to 47 military units.
In Poltava, members of parliament supported a petition at a culture and education committee meeting to create the Wall of Hope, a memorial dedicated to servicemen who are missing in action or held in captivity. The Department of Architecture is to assess the possibility of placing the memorial at the proposed location, while the Veterans Policy Department will hold a roundtable with families to determine the format and design of the space.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, stated that Cherkasy oblast, together with the Sahunivka territorial community, formed a new tranche of assistance for the 118th Separate Territorial Defence Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, the funds were used to purchase necessary weapons for defenders, including 7 grenade launchers.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that on 15 December, the Defence Forces of Ukraine repelled 40 russian attacks in Orikhiv, Huliaipole and Oleksandrivka regions.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, russian forces attacked a minibus by a drone in Zaporizhzhia oblast while it was traveling on the road. There were no casualties reported.
The russian troops attacked Zaporizhzhia this morning, by a UAV. 4 people were injured. Among the wounded is a 58-year-old man who is in serious condition in hospital. A 28-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman sought medical assistance.
On 15 December, the russian military carried out 851 strikes on 23 cities and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. In particular, it shelled the territories of Chervonodniprovka, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Pavlivka, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Zelene, Varvarivka, Dobropillia and Charivne 300 times by artillery.
Mykolaiv oblast
According to Mykolaiv RMA, on 15 December, Russian forces carried out 8 FPV drone attacks on Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities and shelled Kutsurub community by artillery. As a result of one of the shellings, a private house and a power line were damaged in Dmytrivka village. There were no casualties reported.
Odesa oblast
The Air Force of Ukraine reported that this evening, UAV activity was recorded in the airspace over Odesa oblast.
Based on the information provided by the RMA, during the night, russian forces attacked Odesa oblast by several dozen strike drones. A fire broke out on the premises of one of the enterprises. The flames engulfed a warehouse storing household appliances, including boilers and heaters. There were no casualties reported.

Kherson oblast
Referring to Kherson City Military Administration, russian forces once again shelled Zelenivka in Kherson oblast. Several unoccupied houses were damaged. There were no casualties reported.
At around 1pm, russian troops attacked a civilian vehicle by a drone in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. A 63-year-old man was injured and hospitalised with blast injuries, a closed traumatic brain injury, concussion and shrapnel wounds to the head.
In Kherson, a 53-year-old man who was injured during yesterday’s russian shelling sought medical assistance today. He was diagnosed with a concussion, abrasions, contusions, blast injury and a closed traumatic brain injury.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, stated that over the past day, russian forces attacked 33 settlements in Kherson oblast. Gas and water pipelines were damaged, along with 5 high-rise buildings and 10 private houses, an animal shelter, a volunteer warehouse, garages and an ambulance vehicle. 1 person was injured.

Volyn oblast
The RMA reported that in June, 47 veterans received certificates for obtaining housing for veterans and their family members in Volyn oblast.
Zakarpattia oblast
A train from Kosice to Uzhhorod was stopped at Chop station after crossing the Ukrainian border due to a report of a possible mine. All passengers were asked to leave the carriages, after which the train was towed away from the station’s administrative building. Bomb disposal experts, rescuers and police were on the scene. The report of a mine was not confirmed.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
The Perun Corps Unmanned Systems Battalion of the 79th Separate Tavria Airborne Assault Brigade received a generator, charging station and starlinks from Ivano-Frankivsk community.
Lviv oblast
The RMA reported that the Special Operations Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense have honored 24 entrepreneurs and volunteers from Lviv oblast for their active civic stance and significant contribution to the common cause.
The team of the charity project Birds of Victory has raised $1m through partnerships and charity auctions for prosthetics for Ukrainian soldiers in Superhumans. Thanks to such systematic work, 21 soldiers have already had a chance to return to active life.
Rivne oblast
Over 200,000 consultations were provided by Resilience Centers in Rivne oblast during the year. These are, first of all, information, counseling and socio-psychological assistance services. They are designed for a wide range of visitors who need support in war conditions, in particular, IDPs. In total, there are currently 32 Resilience Centers operating in the oblast, one of which is the relocated Bilovodsk rural community, Luhansk oblast.
Ternopil oblast
In Ternopil, work continues to eliminate the consequences of the rocket attack on 19 November. New windows are being actively installed in the affected houses. Each window is manufactured and installed individually for a specific apartment, as the nature of the damage in each case is different. In total, about 1,200 windows will be replaced in all the affected houses. As of 15 December, 968 new windows have already been installed.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi City Council reported that 141 orphans or children deprived of parental care receive monthly pocket money, which will increase from 2026 and amount to UAH 1,200.
Chernivtsi oblast
Another evacuation train with 12 people from Donetsk oblast arrived in Bukovina. The evacuees were provided with all necessary assistance and psychological support and escorted to temporary accommodation.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, met with Dick Schoof, Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Maia Sandu, President of Moldova, and Alain Berset, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, on the sidelines of a diplomatic conference dedicated to the creation of an International Compensation Commission for Ukraine.
