What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

On 12 October, there were 77 combat clashes on the front. Ukrainian defenders are stopping the enemy, holding the lines and destroying the enemy’s plans.

russian artillery shelling affected areas of settlements, in particular Bachivsk, Bila Bereza in Sumy oblast and Zaliznyi Mist in Chernihiv oblast.

Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, Ukrainian soldiers have repelled three attacks. Today, the enemy has launched six air strikes, dropped 10 guided aerial bombs, and carried out 110 attacks.

Towards Southern Sloboda, there were 12 combat clashes in the vicinity of Kamianka, Zapadne, Kutkivka, Bolohivka and Kolodiazne. Five enemy attacks are still ongoing.

Towards Kupiansk, there were three combat clashes. In total, the enemy tried to advance in the vicinity of Kupiansk, Pishchane and Petropavlivka.

Towards Lyman, there were five combat clashes. The enemy attacked in the vicinity of the settlements of Novomykhailivka, Drobysheve, Myrne and Shandryholove.

Towards Slaviansk, the enemy carried out one attack in the vicinity of ​​the settlement of Yampil.

Towards Kramatorsk, an assault was repelled near Stupochky.

Towards Kostiantynivka, the defense forces stopped seven out of eight enemy attacks. The invader tried to advance in the vicinity of the settlements of Shcherbynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar and Poltavka.

Towards Pokrovsk, russian troops launched 26 attacks near Volodymyrivka, Shakhove, Nykanorivka, Novoekonomichne, Rodynske, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Pokrovsk, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Kotliarivka, Horikhove and Dachne. 24 attacks were repelled.

Towards Oleksandrivka, Ukrainian defenders repelled ten enemy attacks, and four more combat clashes are ongoing. The enemy is attacking near the settlements of Ivanivka, Oleksandrivka, Sosnivka, Sichneve, Vorone, Stepove, Verbove, Oleksiivka and Novohryhorivka.

Towards Huliaipole, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations.

Towards Orikhiv, the aggressor conducted three futile attacks near Stepove and Stepnohirsk.

Towards Kherson, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations. The enemy carried out an airstrike in the vicinity of ​​the settlement of Mykolaivka.

In the remaining directions, there were no significant changes in the situation.

Ukrainian troops are exhausting the enemy along the entire line of combat contact and in the rear.


President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reports that Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is experiencing the longest blackout. The plant has been operating on diesel generators for almost three weeks. Ukraine is ready to repair the power supply lines and guarantee the safety of the plant with its own specialists, but russian shelling is hindering the work of repair teams.

Colonel Valentyn Manko, Head of the assault units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, says that Ukrainian assault units have conducted a successful counter-offensive operation towards Zaporizhzhia. Mali Shcherbaky, Shcherbaky and part of Stepove were liberated.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Towards Southern Sloboda, there were 12 combat clashes in the vicinity of Kamianka, Zapadne, Kutkivka, Bolohivka and Kolodiazne. The defense forces continue to repel five assaults.

Towards Kupyansk, there were three battles. In total, the occupiers tried to advance on the positions of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinity of Kupiansk, Pishchane and Petropavlivka four times.

There were 203 combat clashes in the oblast.

There were 23 combat clashes near Vovchansk, Odradne, Zapadne, Kutkivka, Obukhivka, Bolohivka, Dvorichanske and Kolodiazne.

Towards Kupiansk, there were 15 attacks in the vicinity of Kupiansk, Petropavlivka, Bohuslavka, Novaya Kruhliakivka and Stepova Novoselivka.

Serhii Fedchenko, Head of Izium RMA, says that a 24-year-old man suffered a cut wound to his forearm due to a strike on Izium, and his forehead was also cut by glass. The wounded man refused hospitalization. At the time of the strike, he was standing on the street, Fedchenko added. A hit by a Lancet-type drone was recorded in Izium. According to preliminary information, one person received minor injuries. The strike damaged vehicles and nearby commercial premises.

The RMA reports that a 42-year-old man was hospitalized after a russian strike by GABs on Slobidskyi district of Kharkiv. GAB hits were recorded in Nemyshlianskyi and Slobidskyi districts of Kharkiv.

Over the past day, 5 settlements in the oblast were hit by enemy strikes. 5 people were injured as a result of the shelling.

In the city of Chuhuiv, women aged 59 and 78, men aged 54 and 69, and a 12-year-old girl were injured.

The enemy actively used various types of weapons:

▪️7 Geran-2 UAVs;

▪️2 FPV drones.

Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:

▪️In Kupiansk region, an educational institution was damaged (Shevchenkove village);

▪️In Izium region, an excavator was damaged (Pisky-Radkivski village);

▪️In Chuhuiv region, a private house (Buhaiivka village), an educational institution, an administrative building, an apartment building, and cars were damaged (Chuhuiv city).

184 people were evacuated. 54 people remained in Lozova. A total of 7,177 people have been registered at the Point since it began operating.

Oleh Chernobay, Community Head, says that in Pisochyn community near Kharkiv, projects for two more underground schools are being developed. According to him, the implementation of the projects is planned to begin next year. Currently, the community is home to more than 30,000 local residents and over 13,000 displaced persons.

A friendly indoor football match was held in Kharkiv for the first time on October 11. At one of the city’s stadiums, the local team FC Nezlamni played against the team from Dnipro.

City mayor Ihor Terekhov reports that Kharkiv restored 50 medical facilities that were damaged as a result of hostilities. In July, the City Council reported that 44 out of 58 medical facilities in Kharkiv had been damaged as a result of the war, some of them several times.

Donetsk oblast

The General Staff said that russian troops attacked 58 times towards Pokrovsk and 36 towards Oleksandrivka. The day before, there were 72 and 28 battles.

Towards Oleksandrivka, the Defense Forces repelled attacks in the vicinity of the settlements of Malynivka, Poltavka, Oleksandrivske, Pavlovka, Zelenyi Hai, Sichneve, Sosnivka, Novohryhorivka and Orestopol.

Another 21 attacks were carried out by the russian military towards Kostiantynivka and 14 towards Lyman.

Kramatorsk Contact Center reported that power supply has been restored in Kramatorsk. In the morning, the region was powerless due to shelling. On the morning of October 12, russian troops attacked the energy infrastructure.

In Chasovy Yar, the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are attacked by drones. Ivan Petrychak from the 24th Motorized Rifle Brigade spoke about the strategy of the russian army. If earlier assault groups consisted of 5 people, now the occupiers can send forward only one soldier armed with a machine gun, several magazines and grenades. Such a “lone” crawls through the bushes for several days, trying to remain unnoticed.

On October 11, there were 1,386 enemy strikes on the front line and residential sector.

8 settlements were under fire: the cities of Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Lyman, the villages of Novodonetske, Oleksandrivka, Rai-Oleksandrivka, and Staroraiske.

84 civilian objects were destroyed, including 36 residential buildings.

russians hit Kostiantynivka with two GAB-250 bombs and artillery; two civilians were killed, six people were injured. 1 apartment building and 19 private houses, a church were damaged.

The enemy attacked Staroraiske with two FPV drones. One drone hit a civilian car – one person was killed, three others were injured. Another damaged a private house.

One person was killed in Oleksandrivka, where russian troops sent 5 Geran-2 UAVs. 14 private houses, an educational institution, and 4 civilian cars were destroyed.

The occupiers dropped four GAB-250 bombs on Kramatorsk; they damaged a private house, a shop, 2 shopping pavilions, a railway track, and 29 civilian cars.

As a result of the FPV drones hitting Lyman, a civilian car was damaged, and in Rai-Oleksandrivka – a private house, garage, outbuilding and 2 cars.

In Novodonetske, infrastructure facilities were damaged as a result of the Geran-2 UAV strike.

Roman Buhaiov, an evacuation worker from Skhid SOS, says that residents of Kostiantynivka and Dobropillia communities are the most likely to leave Donetsk oblast. Over the past month, up to 3 thousand people have passed through transit centers.

Nine more people were evacuated from Kostiantynivka, according to Yevhen Tkachev, head of the Proliska humanitarian mission in Donetsk oblast.

Luhansk oblast

The occupiers fired artillery and unmanned systems towards the Ukrainian Armed Forces fortifications defending the oblast. The enemy tried to hit them with cannon artillery 10 times. They used UAVs and FPV drones 11 times. They attacked towards Lyman 14 times, and another six towards Sloviansk.

In occupied Rubizhne, Luhansk oblast, the number of payphones was increased from two to four. Calls can only be made from payphones within the city limits. In total, the occupiers installed 36 public telephones in Lysychansk, Kreminna, Rubizhne, Siverskodonetsk, Borivske and Syrotyne.

In schools in the occupied Luhansk oblast, they are forcibly forming propaganda units – the  Movement of the Firsts. Their number is 3,439. 90 thousand children were involved in 70 thousand militarization measures.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

According to Kyiv Regional State Administration, two DTEK employees were injured as a result of an enemy attack on one of the substations in Boryspil region. They were taken to a local hospital.

Three settlements in Boryspil district were partially left without power due to the russian strike on the substation. Invincibility Points were available. Currently, 9,607 households are left without electricity. DTEK emergency crews are working to eliminate the consequences and restore centralised power supply to people.

Mykola Kalashnyk, Head of the RMA, announced that in Irpin, more than 81% of damaged buildings have been restored to date. Schools, kindergartens, hospitals, cultural spaces, apartment buildings and private estates are being rebuilt. Almost 4,000 objects were destroyed and damaged in the city after the full-scale russian invasion.

According to Kyiv City State Administration, five hundred mobile shelters will be purchased for the capital. Mobile shelters will be installed in places where people may gather in open areas, such as transport stops, parks, and recreation areas.

According to Bucha city council From 14 October, a new sitting volleyball section for veterans will open at Bucha Sports Academy. Military personnel with disabilities will be able to train there, as well as anyone who wants to maintain an active lifestyle despite their limitations. The section will be led by Serhii Hurduza, war veteran and winner of the All-Ukrainian sitting volleyball competition.

The Ukrainian Women’s Guard held training in tactical medicine and another training course on rehabilitation, recovery, safety and self-defence in crisis situations for women in Kyiv.

According to Kyiv City Military Administration, a memorial dedicated to the logistics specialists of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was unveiled in Kyiv on the Alley of Defenders of Ukraine, near the Arch of Freedom of the Ukrainian People. The unveiling took place on the occasion of Tank Forces Day.

Zhytomyr oblast

The Employment Centre reported  that twenty entrepreneurs from Zhytomyr oblast will receive more than UAH 6 million in state support to start or develop their own businesses under the Own Business programme. New shops, a coffee shop, a photo and video studio, as well as transportation and landscaping companies will appear in the oblast. Four combat veterans have received the grants.

On 10 September, the village of Novobratske in the Chopovychi community hosted  Borscht of Unity, the second charity gastronomic event. According to the village council, the 32,700 hryvnias raised will be donated to the military from Chopovychi community.

Sumy oblast

The Regional Military Administration reported that energy supply in Sumy oblast is gradually being restored after recent russian attacks. The situation has partially stabilized — emergency power outage schedules have been cancelled, and the energy system is operating in normal mode. However, more than 20,000 consumers remain without electricity, mostly within the five-kilometre border zone.

In Shostka community, water and gas supply have been restored following heavy strikes, while work continues to fully resume stable electricity delivery to residents.

Between the mornings of 11 and 12 October 2025, russian forces carried out 60 attacks on 23 settlements across 12 territorial communities in the oblast. The heaviest shelling occurred in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used guided aerial bombs (up to 30 strikes) and also employed FPV and other attack drones across the territory of Sumy oblast.

Damage from russian attacks as of the morning of 12 October:

  • In Sumy community – a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged.
  • In Bilopillia community – private residential houses and a civilian facility were hit.
  • In Putyvl community – a non-residential building sustained damage.

Chernihiv oblast

Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of the Regional Military Administration, reported that around 11pm on 11 October, russian forces attacked a petrol station in Novhorod-Siverskyi by a strike drone. There were no casualties.

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Administration, said that same evening, a russian drone hit a private household in Semenivka, causing a fire. The roof, a car, and windows in a neighbouring house were damaged by the blast. The house was occupied by a couple and a 70-year-old woman.

According to the Regional Administration, earlier on 11 October, a russian UAV struck an energy facility in Nizhyn regional. Emergency crews continue to eliminate the consequences of attacks on the oblast’s power infrastructure. Scheduled rolling blackouts remain in place.

Chernihiv Border Detachment informed that during 11 October, russian forces attacked five border communities in Chernihiv oblast — Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Snovsk, Horodnia, and Koriukivka — launching a total of 56 strikes. The enemy used mortars and artillery, as well as UAVs and FPV drones, and dropped explosives from drones. A “Shahed” UAV strike caused a fire on the roof of Novhorod-Siverskyi State Veterinary Laboratory.

According to the Regional Military Administration, energy company workers injured in an earlier drone attack on a repair crew remain hospitalized in stable, moderate condition, receiving necessary medical care.

Across Chernihiv oblast, more than 280 “Points of Invincibility” are now operating, including 28 set up by the State Emergency Service (SES). Residents can warm up, charge devices, and access the internet at these shelters.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the oblast council, reports that in the evening and at night, the occupiers continued to strike at Nikopol region. Nikopol and Pokrovske community were shelled with artillery. The enemy also attacked Synelnykove region. UAVs were aimed at Pokrovske community. A car caught fire.

UAVs were also launched at Pavlohrad region. A fire broke out, infrastructure was damaged.

The occupiers struck Synelnykove region with drones and MLRSs. They targeted Mezhova and Vasylkivka communities. A 66-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman were killed. A 56-year-old woman was injured. Fires broke out, 2 private houses, a garage and an outbuilding were damaged. Also, during the day, the occupiers struck Nikopol region about two dozen times. Artillery and drones were fired at Nikopol, Pokrovske, Myrove, Chervonohryhorivka and Marhanets communities. A 66-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man were injured. 11 private houses, 2 outbuildings, a gas station and a power line were damaged.

Vinnytsia oblast

In the oblast, war veterans, internally displaced persons and novice entrepreneurs received grant support to develop their own businesses. Certificates were awarded to 13 winners of the regional competition of business plans for starting and running a business.

Kirovohrad oblast

In Dolynska community, people took to the streets in support of the soldiers who are currently in captivity or missing. The action “Don’t be silent! Captivity kills!” is an opportunity to once again draw attention to the need to release and return Ukrainians home.

Cherkasy oblast 

An action in support of prisoners of war and missing defenders “Don’t be silent – captivity kills” took place in Cherkasy. About one and a half hundred people gathered on Soborna Square.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the Defense Forces advanced more than 3 km near Orekhov. In total, the Defense Forces advanced up to 3.5 km, destroying a significant number of russian occupiers and taking prisoners.

Vladislav Voloshyn, Spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, reports that in the vicinity of ​​the settlement of Mali Shcherbaky, the Defense Forces of Ukraine conducted strike and search operations and improved the tactical position.

There were 755 strikes on 13 settlements of the oblast. In particular, 508 UAVs of various modifications (mainly FPV) attacked Chervonodniprovka, Bilenke, Prymorske, Stepove, Huliaipole, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka and Charivne.

Mykolaiv oblast

The Air Force of Ukraine reported that in the morning, a russian strike drone was spotted from the south of Dnipropetrovsk oblast to Mykolaiv oblast.

Mykolaiv RMA reported that on the night of October 12, air defense forces shot down a Shahed.

On October 11, the russian army attacked Kutsurub and Ochakiv communitiesseven times with FPV drones.

Odesa oblast

The RMA reports that the russian army attacked the energy and civil infrastructure of the oblast. A gas infrastructure facility and a farm building were damaged. A 34-year-old woman was injured as a result of the attack. An energy infrastructure facility and a building of the district state administration were also hit (glass was broken).

In the city of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, a building of a canteen and recreation center was destroyed and subsequently set on fire, a two-story administrative building, the premises of an inactive hotel, and private houses nearby were damaged.

Kherson oblast

The RMA reports that at around 12:00, russian troops attacked a cyclist with a UAV in Korabelnyi district of Kherson. A 62-year-old man suffered a concussion, a mine-explosive injury and shrapnel wounds.

The russian army shelled Korabelnyi district of Kherson. A 23-year-old man was wounded. He received a mine-explosive injury and a concussion.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, reported that two people were killed and five were wounded as a result of shelling in Kherson oblast. The russian army attacked 30 settlements in the oblast. 13 high-rise buildings, four private houses, a gas station, shops and cars were damaged.

The Southern Defense Forces reported that the russian army in the south lost 62 soldiers, an artillery system, 19 vehicles, two electronic warfare systems, four motorcycles, a ground robotic complex, a field ammunition depot, and 32 shelters.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Panasiuk Serhii, Rifleman-Medic of the 2nd Assault Detachment of the 2nd Assault Battalion of the Military Unit A4862 from Volyn oblast, was killed on 6 October, while performing a combat mission near the settlement of Bilytske, Pokrovsk region, Donetsk oblast.

Zakarpattia oblast

As part of the veteran initiative of Zakarpattia Police, a new location for adaptive combat training has been opened. Now veterans and war veterans can attend free training aimed at physical recovery, psychological support, and social adaptation.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

As part of the Caring for the Hero’s Family project, 2 mothers and 3 children had the opportunity to rest and regain strength in picturesque Yaremche for a week. They were hospitably welcomed by the Vedmezha Hora complex.

Lviv oblast

Ruslan Pavlyshynets, soldier of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade Kholodnyi Yarm from the city of Novy Rozdil, Strii region, was awarded with the III degree For Courage Order (posthumously). Ruslan was killed in August 2024 during hostilities in Donetsk oblast.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, awarded Victor Duran and Volodymyr Namastyrnyk from Lviv oblast with the For the Defense of Ukraine honorary distinction.

Volunteers, entrepreneurs and residents of Zymnovodivska community during a charity concert, auction and fair for the Independence Day of Ukraine raised UAH 270,000 for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Pustomytivska community donated to the military units tangible assets of the community’s communal property with a total value of UAH 598,200.

Rivne oblast

Rivne oblast is updating the Defense of Ukraine course. There will be more practice and no gender division. It is planned to increase the training load to 2 h per week (previously 1.5–2 h) and update the program, which focuses on practical skills and modern aspects of security and defense, including home medical care.

Ternopil oblast

20 Ternopil soldiers will receive a one-time cash grant for treatment and rehabilitation. Since the beginning of the year, 457 servicemen have received funds.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

An off-site meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Economic Development was held in Kamianets-Podilskyi. Participants discussed legislative instruments for attracting investments to Ukraine, developing the economic sustainability of regions, and strengthening partnerships between the state, communities and business.

Chernivtsi oblast

The RMA reported that Police Lieutenant Pavlo Andronyk has been awarded with the Bukovyna Cross of Honor and Dignity.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
