Russian Forces Intensify Assaults: 85 Combat Engagements Recorded Since Midnight

Russian occupation forces continue their assaults on Ukrainian defense positions. Since the beginning of the day, 85 combat engagements have been recorded.

Border settlements have come under artillery fire from Russian territory, including Huta Studenetska in Chernihiv region, and Bobylivka, Oleksandrivka, Pokrovka, Tymofiivka, Slavgorod, Bila Bereza, Simeikyne, and Rozhkovychi in Sumy region.

Airstrikes targeted Hremiach in Chernihiv region and Yastrubyne in Sumy region.

Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled enemy attacks along the Northern-Slobozhanske and Kursk directions. The enemy launched two airstrikes, dropped four guided bombs (KABs), and carried out 168 attacks, including one with a multiple launch rocket system (MLRS).

In the Southern-Slobozhanske direction, Russian forces launched three assaults near Hlyboke, Fiholivka, and toward Kozacha Lopan. Ukrainian troops responded firmly. KABs were also used against the city of Kharkiv.

In the Kupiansk direction, enemy troops attacked Ukrainian positions near Stepova Novoselivka.

On the Lyman front, the Russian army launched 15 assaults near Hrekivka, Novyi Myr, Serednie, Ridkodub, Yampolivka, Kolodiazi, and Dibrova. Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully repelled 13 of these attacks; combat continues in the remaining areas.

In the Siversk direction, Russian forces made 10 attempts to break through in the areas of Hryhorivka and Vyiimka. Five clashes are still ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk direction, enemy troops launched two attacks near Chasiv Yar.

In the Toretsk area, Russian forces carried out five assaults today near Diliivka, Toretsk, and Rusyn Yar.

The situation is most intense in the Pokrovsk direction, where the enemy launched 34 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Popiv Yar, Novoekonomichne, Razine, Lysivka, Chunishyne, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Muravka, Novoukrainka, and Oleksiivka. Ukrainian forces repelled 30 assaults, while four combat clashes remain ongoing. Rodynske, Mykolaivka, and Sukhyi Yar were also hit by airstrikes.

In the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy launched eight attacks near Zelenyi Hai, Tovste, Novokhatske, and Temyrivka. Three engagements are still in progress.

On the Huliaipole axis, Russian aviation struck Bilohiria.

In the Orikhiv direction, an airstrike hit the area near Orikhiv settlement.

In the Prydniprovske direction, the enemy made six attempts to break through Ukrainian defense lines. One clash is still ongoing. Russian forces also launched an airstrike on Kozatske.

No significant changes in the situation were recorded in other directions of the front.

Separately, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi has tasked domestic manufacturers with enabling the use of 1,000 drone interceptors per day, according to the Office of the President.

Despite the war, agriculture remains resilient. According to Opendatabot, from 2022 to 2025, 2.5 times more agribusinesses were launched than closed. A total of 5,966 new agricultural companies were registered since the start of the full-scale invasion, compared to 2,346 closures.

Kharkiv oblast

Shelling

Kharkiv Region Under Heavy Shelling: Civilians Injured, Including a Child

On July 25, the Russian army launched a series of attacks on Kharkiv and the Kupiansk district. As a result, several civilians were injured, including children.

At around 11:30 a.m. in Kharkiv, a guided aerial bomb struck the roof of the Kharkiv Regional Tuberculosis Dispensary. Seventeen people were injured, including a 12-year-old girl who was diagnosed with an acute stress reaction. Most of the victims sustained minor injuries and concussions. One staff member of the medical facility was hospitalized; her condition is stable. The third floor of the building was partially destroyed, with windows shattered, interior walls damaged, and medical equipment affected. All patients were transferred to another facility.

In the evening, Russian forces launched three more attacks on Kharkiv. Strikes were recorded in the central part of the city, including the Kyivskyi district. According to police reports, the attacks were carried out using guided aerial bombs.

In Kupiansk, at around 11:45 a.m., Russian troops struck a residential area, injuring a 41-year-old woman. Around 12:50 p.m., an FPV drone attack wounded two more women, aged 41 and 78. All three victims sustained blast injuries.

According to preliminary reports, the attack on the tuberculosis dispensary in Kharkiv was carried out by a Su-34 fighter jet launched from Belgorod region, Russia.

The regional prosecutor’s office and police are documenting this latest war crime committed by the Russian army.

Donetsk oblast

Shelling in Donetsk Region on July 25: Civilian Casualties Reported

As a result of enemy shelling in Donetsk region on July 25, at least two civilians were killed and six were injured.

According to Vadym Filashkin, Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, a 50-year-old man was killed and another injured during an FPV drone attack in Pokrovsk. A similar attack in Myrnohrad claimed the life of a 65-year-old man.

In Kostiantynivka, four people were injured during artillery shelling, with several houses and an infrastructure facility damaged.

Druzhkivka was shelled twice; one person was injured, 39 private homes were destroyed or damaged, and power lines and a gas pipeline were hit.

Authorities emphasize that there are no safe settlements in the region and urge timely evacuation and adherence to safety measures.

The situation in the Toretsk direction remains tense, with active enemy combat operations ongoing.

After two years of occupation, Bakhmut remains essentially a dead city.

Luhansk oblast

Russia Launches Military-Themed Children’s Clubs in Luhansk

The occupation authorities in Luhansk plan to open children’s clubs called “Young Technicians” starting in autumn 2025, where schoolchildren will be taught to build drones and military equipment for the Russian army’s use. The project is implemented by a pro-Russian youth organization controlled by the Kremlin. The clubs will be mandatory for high school students and aim to ideologically prepare children for service in the occupier’s army.

Last Resident of Novovodyane Evacuated to Ukraine-Controlled Territory

A 74-year-old man, the last resident of Novovodyane village in the temporarily occupied territory, left for Ukraine-controlled areas following the death of his wife due to shelling. He is currently in the Rivne region, receiving assistance from local authorities.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

According to Ukrainska Pravda on 8 August, Kyiv will bid the final farewell to journalist Viktoria Roshchina, who died in russian captivity. Numerous injuries were found on her body, but the exact cause of death is unknown. The funeral ceremony will begin at 12:00 with a service at St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral. At 13:00, a memorial ceremony will take place on Independence Square, and at 14:00, the burial will take place at the Baikove Cemetery.

Obukhiv solemnly welcomed Defender Mykola Mishchenko, who returned from captivity. People with flags and flowers created a living corridor in his honour.

Taras Kozub, a 51-year-old musician, teacher, master of old-world instruments, and, since 2023, a soldier of the 47th separate mechanised brigade “Magura,” created an orthosis after losing his arm on the front lines. This allowed him to play folk instruments again.

The Kyiv Museum presented the project “Heart nAZOVni. Blooming Indestructibility,” which displays photographs of women who lost loved ones in the war, dressed in national costumes. Twenty women who continue to live, preserving and spreading the memory of their heroes, participated in the project. Viktoria Mukha, Director General of the Kyiv City History Museum and member of the Kyiv City Council, reminded that this is not the first such project of the museum in cooperation with the NGO “Heart Outside”.

According to the press service of the NGO “Rukh Yedyni”, a charity run in support of Ukrainian prisoners will take place in Kyiv at the VDNH on 31 August. You can join from anywhere in the world from 24 to 31 August, and the funds will be used to support free Ukrainian language conversation clubs in frontline and de-occupied territories, as well as training for displaced persons and veterans.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko announced that the Kyiv community had sent a new batch of aid to the front line – over 1,000 drones, 900 of which were received by the 72nd Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians, and another 110 by the 3rd Special Forces Regiment named after Prince Sviatoslav the Brave. Since the beginning of the year, the capital has sent 3,100 drones to the 72nd Brigade.

Kyiv hosted the National Guard Commander’s Cup in multi-event competition, in which 270 participants from various law enforcement agencies competed. Among them were military personnel with injuries and disabilities.

A 12-year-old girl who underwent a 13-hour heart transplant during shelling regained consciousness in Kyiv. On the same day, doctors saved two more children.

An Israeli warning system that responds to the trajectory of a drone rather than a threat across the entire region has been launched in Kyiv.

Zhytomyr oblast

Estonia is building a bomb shelter for kids at the Regional Centre for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation “Sunny House” in Zhytomyr. A working group is coordinating the initiative under a Memorandum between ESTDEV, the Zhytomyr Regional State Administration, the Regional Council, and the centre itself.

On 30 August, Zhytomyr will host the “I Honour Soldiers, I Run for the Heroes of Ukraine” race to mark the Day of Remembrance for the Defenders of Ukraine. Participants will join in honouring the fallen by attaching the names of heroes to their T-shirts.

Sumy oblast

The General Staff reported thar over the past day, Ukrainian troops repelled 25 russian attacks on Northern–Slobozhanskyi and Kursk fronts. Enemy forces also carried out nine airstrikes using 15 guided aerial bombs and launched 283 shelling attacks, six of which involved multiple rocket launch systems.

The State Emergency Service of Sumy oblast informed that russian troops struck an administrative building in Sumy. This happened at around 5:30am on 25 July. Rescuers extinguished the fire.

According to the Regional Military Administration, on 24 July, in Znob-Novhorodske community, artillery shelling resulted in the death of a woman born in 1982 and injuries to another woman born in 1965.

During the day, from the morning of 24 July to the morning of 25 July, russian forces carried out 60 attacks on 26 settlements across 14 territorial communities in the oblast. The highest number of strikes were recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs (over 20 strikes), and also launched attacks by FPV-drones, UAVs, and missiles across Sumy oblast.

As a result of russian shelling in Sumy oblast, a multi-apartment residential building and a private vehicle were damaged in Znob-Novhorodske community; an administrative building was damaged in Sumy community.

Nova Slobidka community confirmed that Oleksandr Chaplia, who sustained burns during the russian shelling of Putyvl on 21 July, has died in hospital. At the time, russian forces struck a gas station, injuring 11 people. Oleksandr suffered burns to over 90% of his body and was transported to Kyiv Burn Center. On 26 July, Nova Slobidka community declared a Day of Mourning in memory of Oleksandr Chaplia.

Over the past day, 22 people were evacuated from border communities by local authorities in cooperation with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and public organizations.

Chernihiv oblast

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, reported that on 25 July, russian forces attacked a house in Semenivka community by a drone, where a family of internally displaced people from Semenivka was living. The strike caused a fire. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties. The family’s housing situation is being addressed.

Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that during the day on 24 July, russian forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast— Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia, and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (39 explosions), struck by FPV-drones (8 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (32 explosions).

On 23 July, two National Guard servicemen who had been stationed at Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant — Serhii Chobotar from Slavutych and Oleksandr Soia from Chernihiv — returned home from russian captivity. Both were captured on the first day of the full-scale invasion.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Due to a Russian attack, loud explosions were heard in the Vasylkivska and Malomykhailivska communities of the Synelnykove district. This was reported by the Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, Mykola Lukashuk.

A 69-year-old man was injured. A farming enterprise, garages, an apartment building, and a power line were damaged.

In Pavlohrad, a fire broke out on the premises of an industrial facility. Last night and again this morning, the occupiers attacked Nikopol district using drones. Strikes targeted the district center and the Marhanets community. A fire broke out, destroying a utility structure and a garage.

Over the course of the day, more than twenty attacks were recorded in Nikopol district. The Russians used both artillery and drones to target the district center, as well as the Chervonohryhorivska, Pokrovska, and Marhanets communities. A fire broke out, damaging five private homes, a municipal enterprise, two vehicles, gas pipelines, and power lines.

Kirovohrad oblast

In the Kirovohrad region, Serhii Ivashchenko, a Ukrainian soldier, has returned home to the village of Hannivka after being held in Russian captivity for 1,152 days.

He was freed on June 19 as part of a prisoner exchange.

Poltava oblast

As a result of falling UAV debris in the Kremenchuk district, a fire broke out in an outbuilding on the grounds of a private residence.

Residents of the Mykhailivska territorial community welcomed home serviceman Ruslan Lytvynenko, who returned from Russian captivity.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Today, 25 July, the russian army shelled the village of Veselyanka in Zaporizhzhia region. As a result of the shelling, a man was injured.

In the morning of 25 July, the russian army attacked Bilenke community. A power line was damaged. There were no casualties or injuries.

Over the past day, the occupiers carried out 428 strikes on 17 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces launched 10 airstrikes on Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Malynivka, Bilohiria, and Uspenivka. 305 UAVs of various types (mostly FPV) attacked Zaporizhzhia, Nyzhnia Khortytsia, Pryvilne, Bilenke, Kamianske, Huliaipole, Malynivka, Shcherbaky, Preobrazhenka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, and Charivne. 7 MLRS strikes hit Kamianske, Huliaipole, Yehorivka, and Shcherbaky. There were 106 artillery attacks on Kamianske, Huliaipole, Malynivka, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, and Novoandriivka. There were 53 reports of destruction of apartments, private houses, cars, garages, and infrastructure facilities. One person was injured as a result of a russian attack on Orikhiv community.

On 24 July, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled one russian assault towards Orikhiv.

The occupation authorities began cutting down the Filiber cherry orchards in temporarily occupied Melitopol. This place used to be a recreation area for the city’s residents. Now, pipes have appeared in the area, and construction has started. What exactly is planned to be built there is still unknown. The Korvatsky (Filiber) orchards were established in 1887 by a doctor as an experimental orchard and nursery of fruit trees, including at least 20 varieties of cherries.

Mykolaiv oblast

Yesterday, 24 July 24, at 10:13 am, the enemy attacked the city of Ochakiv with an FPV drone. Also, at 4:05 pm, the russians carried out an artillery strike on Kutsurub community. As a result of the attack dry grass caught fire  in the village of Dmytrivka. No casualties were reported.

Kherson oblast

Around 5:30 am, the russians attacked a car on a highway near Kherson with a drone. A 59-year-old man sustained blast injuries and a concussion.

Around 7:30 am a woman was injured in another russian drone attack in Kherson’s Dniprovskyi district. A 60-year-old local woman suffered a blast injury and had her arm amputated. Medical workers who were providing aid were wounded in a second attack. Preliminary reports say a 63-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man sustained blast injuries.

In the morning, the russians shelled Toma Balka in Bilozerka community. A 44-year-old man received blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to the chest after a residential building was hit.

Around 8:30 am, russian artillery hit Dniprovskyi district in Kherson, injuring a 41-year-old man who sustained a blast injury and a concussion.

Around 9:00 am, another russian drone strike in Dniprovskyi district injured an elderly woman. An 88-year-old resident sustained a concussion, blast injuries, and a closed head trauma.

Around 9:30 am, russian forces attacked municipal utility workers in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson using a drone. The UAV dropped explosives on their service vehicle. Two people were injured: a 32-year-old man suffered blast injuries and had both legs amputated; a 50-year-old man sustained blast trauma and shrapnel wounds to the leg, torso, and arms. Later, Kherson RMA reported that a utility worker born in 1972 was killed as a result of the attack.

Around 9:40 am, the enemy struck again in Kherson’s Dniprovskyi district, injuring a 73-year-old woman who suffered blast injuries and multiple shrapnel wounds to her torso.

This morning, russian troops shelled Novokairy in Mylove community with artillery. There were at least eight strikes. Among the damage was an educational institution.

On 24 July, the russians shelled Dudchany, Bilozerka, Zolota Balka, Dariivka, Beryslav, Stanislav, Sofiivka, Lvove, Mykolaivka, Tiahynka, Odradokamianka, Mylove, Antonivka, Kizomys, Molodizhne, Naddniprianske, Yantarne, Tomyna Balka, Sadove, Sukhanove, Osokorivka, Kachkarivka, Tomaryne, Vesele, Havrylivka, Dniprovske, Zelenivka, Zmiivka, Ivanivka, Mykilske, Monastyrske, Novooleksandrivka, Novotiahynka, Olhivka, Poniativka, Tokarivka, Chervonyi Maiak, and the city of Kherson. As a result of the attacks, an apartment building and six private houses were damaged. Six people were injured due to russian aggression.

According to the General Staff, as of 4:00 pm on 25 July, the enemy attempted six assaults on Ukrainian positions on Prydniprovskyi front. One battle is still ongoing. The previous day, the enemy attacked the Ukrainian defenders five times near the settlements of Sadove, Dniprovske, and Prydniprovske. Enemy losses included 54 troops, 8 artillery units, 2 twin anti-aircraft guns (ZU-23-2), 19 vehicles, 1 Shahed-131/136 UAV, 3 reconnaissance drones (“Zala” and “Supercam”), 7 buggies, 5 boats, and 1 motorcycle. Additionally, 47 shelters, 2 field fuel depots, and 1 field ammunition storage site were destroyed or damaged.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

40 young athletes from Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv oblast (boys aged 10 to 14 who play football and Greco-Roman wrestling) arrived in the oblast. Together with their coaches, they arrived to regain their strength before the new sports season.

Zakarpattia oblast

A psychological retreat for the mothers and wives of the fallen Uzhhorod Heroes took place in Perechyn. The event was organized by the Social Policy Department of Uzhhorod City Council.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

20 children from privileged categories from Ivano-Frankivsk community went to the city of Chrzanow (Poland) for recuperation. These are children from the families of fallen defenders, missing persons and wounded.

Lviv oblast

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the legendary composer and performer Ihor Bilozir, a charity evening in memory of Mother’s Living Room was held in the People’s House of the village of Rozvadiv. During the event, over UAH 8,000 were raised for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Rivne oblast

As part of the health campaign, 19 children from privileged categories from Rivne oblast went to Kyiv oblast to the Artek International Children’s Center. This is the sixth group and they will rest on the thematic shift Guardians of the Forest Educational Human Rights Project.

Ternopil oblast

The RMA met with Vasyl Seghin, Director of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy in Ukraine,. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Westminster Foundation for Democracy in Ukraine and Ternopil RMA. The document confirms the RMA’s intentions to cooperate with the Democratic Restoration of Ukraine project, which is being implemented with the WFD.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi community allocated material assistance for 808 community residents over UAH 12m. These are 82 family members of the deceased for over UAH 1,8m, 44 families of prisoners of war or missing persons for over UAH 2m, 247 military personnel in need of treatment or rehabilitation for over UAH 3.5m, 352 active military personnel for over UAH 3.5m.

Chernivtsi oblast

20 children of servicemen who were killed defending Ukraine’s independence were vacationing at a summer youth camp in Latvia. They were in Riga from 12 to 22 July.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Germany will send another IRIS-T air defense system to Ukraine. In addition, the German side is interested in creating a joint production of new air defense systems with Ukrainian manufacturers.

The Hensoldt German company has received an order for air defense radars worth EUR 340m for Ukraine. The company did not specify the number of radars or the timing of their delivery to Ukraine.
