What happened in Ukraine today:
Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:
On 1 December, there were 111 combat clashes on the front. Ukrainian defenders are stopping the enemy, holding the lines and destroying the plans of russian forces. At the same time, the occupiers continue to concentrate their efforts on Kurakhove, Pokrovsk, Vremovka and Kursk oblast.
The border areas of Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts continue to suffer from russian artillery shelling. Novovasylivka, Bleshnia, Hremiachka, Bachivsk, Leonivka and Karpovichy were shelled.
Towards Kharkiv, the Defense Forces repelled six assaults by enemy troops near Starytsia, Tykhe and Vovchansk, one combat clash is ongoing.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy tried to advance to Ukrainian positions in the vicinity of Lozova, Kruhliakivka and Zelenyi Hai six times. Two clashes are ongoing.
The aggressor also increased the number of attacks to six towards Lyman. He attacked near Druzheliubyvka, Grekivka, Hryhorivka, Terny and Torske. Two clashes are currently ongoing.
Towards Kramatorsk, Ukrainian defenders repelled one attack in the vicinity of Chasiv Yar.
Towards Toretsk, the enemy tried to advance five times near Toretsk and towards Shcherbinivka. The battle is currently ongoing.
The enemy’s activity also persists towards Pokrovsk. Clashes of varying intensity broke out here 22 times. Enemy attacks were repelled in the vicinity of Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Dachenske, Zhovte and Chumatske. Five clashes are still ongoing.
Fierce fighting continued towards Kurakhiv. There were 33 clashes near Berestky, Sontsivka, Zori, Novodmytrivka, Kurakhivka, Dalne, Yelizavetivka and Hannivka. 14 attacks by the occupiers are ongoing.
Towards Vremivka, the aggressor attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders 19 times in the vicinity of Kostiantynopolske, Trudove, Velyka Novosilka, Novosilka, Novyi Komar and Novodarivka, nine clashes are ongoing.
In Kursk oblast, Ukrainian defenders repelled six attacks by the invaders, a total of 12 clashes occurred there.
In the other areas of the frontline, there were no significant changes.
Ukrainian troops are exhausting the enemy along the entire line of combat contact and in the rear.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy states that more than 1 million Ukrainians have applied for winter “eSupport”. Including almost 300 thousand applications were made for payments for children.
Ilya Yevlash, Spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, announces that unmanned aerial vehicles of the Shahed type can fly over the territory of Ukraine for about 24 hours. He also noted that in addition to the Shahed, russia has their analogues and “dummy” drones to exhaust the Ukrainian air defense.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
Oleksandr Tertyshnyi, Head of the settlement military administration, announces that 11,941 people remain to be evacuated from the settlements of Borova community on the left bank of the Oskol River. According to him, 68 children need to be evacuated from Piskiv-Radkivske and Pidlyman, from where the forced evacuation of children with their families has been announced.
Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the RMA, says that there were no strikes on Kharkiv and the oblast on 1 December.
Towards Kharkiv, the aggressor attacked nine times near Vovchansk, Kozacha Lopan and Hoptivka, one clash is still ongoing.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy tried to advance to Ukrainian positions near Pishchane, Kolisnykivka, Lozova and Zahryzove.
14 people were evacuated from Borova and Kupiansk directions.
Donetsk oblast
The General Staff said that russian troops have become more active towards Kramatorsk and Toretsk and are not stopping their attacks towards Pokrovsk and Kurakhove. Twards Kramatorsk, russian troops attacked 17 times in the vicinity of the settlements of Chasiv Yar, Predtechine and Stupochky. Towards Toretsk, 16 battles took place near the settlements of Toretsk, Nelipivka and Shcherbynivka. The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled more than a hundred attacks towards Pokrovsk and Kurakhive.
Stepan Barna, commander of the Barni unit, says that the russian army is using small infantry groups towards Seversk, trying to break through the areas of the 10th Edelweiss Rifle Brigade. For this, russian troops are using artillery, aviation, aerial bombs, and UAVs.
Operational situation in the region as of the morning of December 1:
Pokrovsk region. In Kurakhivka community, numerous private houses and apartment buildings were damaged. In Myrnohrad, 2 people were killed and 3 injured, 3 buildings and a car were damaged. In Pokrovsk, a person was injured, 4 houses damaged; in Shevchenko, a shop was damaged. Houses in Promin, Balahan, and Novoekonomicheske of Hrodno community were damaged.
Kramatorsk region. In Kalynove, Illinivka community, 11 objects were damaged. The outskirts of Kostiantynivka and Lyman communities were under fire.
Bakhmut region. In Siversk, 3 houses were damaged. In Chasiv Yar community, 9 private houses, 2 apartment buildings, and a non-residential building were damaged.
In total, russians shelled settlements in Donetsk oblast 12 times during the day. 208 people were evacuated from the front line, including 19 children.
Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk RMA, informs that over the past day, 2 residents of Donetsk oblast were killed – in Myrnohrad. Another 4 people were injured.
Luhansk oblast
The day before, the occupiers attacked near Novoiehorivka and Hrekivka, trying to move Ukrainian troops from the occupied positions. However, the Ukrainian Defenders are courageously holding the occupied lines. Three times russians hit fortifications and surrounding villages with multiple rocket launchers. Eight times they used barrel artillery. They directed 43 unmanned aerial vehicles towards Ukrainian defenders.
Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk RMA, says that military enlistment office employees in Dovzhansk have begun inviting conscripts to undergo another medical examination. The men are being called and searched at their place of registration. They are assured that a more profitable contract with the russian army awaits them. However, everyone understands that this contract will be short-term.
Luhansk OVA reported that in Aidar (until recently Novopskov), russians have organized another check of the local population. Almost simultaneously, checkpoints were set up in three places – on the main roads that lead to or from this settlement. Cars were carefully inspected and documents checked.
Roman Vlasenko, Head of Siverskodonetsk RMA, informs that in the temporarily occupied region of Luhansk region, the population decreases in winter, and increases in summer. Most settlements in the region lack centralized water supply and heating.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the RMA, says that at night, russians attacked Kyiv oblast with drones. Air defense forces destroyed all russian drones. Due to falling debris in three districts, 3 private houses, an apartment, 3 cars and a garage were damaged. There were no casualties.
In the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, as a result of an attack by enemy drones, cars caught fire in the yard of a residential building. Windows were broken in some apartments of the building. As reported by KCMA, the Air Defense Forces neutralized about a dozen strike UAVs that threatened the capital.
Kyiv City Mayor Vitalii Klychko reports that the capital’s community sent repair crews to Kryvyi Rih, where a heat supply crisis arose. More than 20 employees of the Kyivteploenergo KP and 6 units of the enterprise’s special equipment will go to the city.
According to the municipal enterprise Municipal Guard of Irpin City Council reported that in local forests in Kyiv oblast, where fighting took place at the beginning of the russian invasion, ammunition continues to be found. The area has not yet been surveyed by sappers. Recently, experts discovered the already dismantled remains of a 122 mm rocket from the Grad MLRS.
Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kyiv RMA reported that participants of the intergovernmental organization International Transport Forum visited Hostomel and Irpin. The delegation consisted of representatives of Denmark, Austria, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Japan, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Sweden, and Switzerland. They saw the consequences of russian aggression on infrastructure with their own eyes: they visited the damaged airport in Gostomel and visited the blown up Romanivskyi Bridge in Irpin, through which more than 40 thousand people were evacuated in 2022.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko, informs that 337 Kyiv residents – defenders with disabilities, as well as families of the deceased – will receive monetary compensation instead of housing. The total amount is over UAH 850m. The payment is made using subventions from the state budget to local governments.
The traditional action “Don’t be silent, captivity kills” took place in Kyiv. Every Sunday, relatives and friends of prisoners of war and missing soldiers at the front gather to draw the attention of the authorities and society to the problem of the return of Ukrainian defenders from russian captivity. This time, the picket took place on Maidan Nezalezhnosti.
Zhytomyr oblast
On November 30, the second recruiting center of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was opened in Zhytomyr. In it, men and women can independently choose the specialty and brigade where they want to serve. The military recruiting center employs servicemen who have gone through combat.
Vitaly Bunechko, Head of the regional military administration, says that Zhytomyr RMA signed a memorandum with Oschadbank for joint support of business. The goal is to help businesses recover and implement new projects, as well as support veterans in creating their own businesses.
Sumy oblast
During night and morning, russians carried out 5 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 6 explosions. The attacks targeted Velyka Pysarivka, Esman, and Znob-Novhorod communities.
On 30 November, russians carried out 42 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 69 explosions. The attacks targeted Myropilia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Shalyhyne, Esman, and Seredyna-Buda communities.
Krasnopillia community: explosive devices were dropped from UAVs (12 explosions), mortar shelling (7 explosions), FPV-drone attack (1 explosion), shelling by MLRS (15 explosions).
Velyka Pysarivka community: explosive devices were dropped from UAVs (7 explosions), FPV-drone attack (14 explosions), mortar shelling (5 explosions).
Myropillia community: the enemy fired artillery (3 explosions). As a result, a non-residential building was damaged.
Esman community: russians dropped 2 mines on the territory of the community.
Seredyna-Buda community: an attack was carried out by FPV-drones (2 explosions).
Shalyhyne community: an attack was carried out by FPV-drones (1 explosion).
Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that on 1 December, air defense units in Sumy oblast shot down eight enemy ‘Shahed’ drones. Since the beginning of the year, Ukrainian air defense forces have destroyed a total of 633 russian drones.
Chernihiv oblast
Chernihiv Regional Police reported that on 1 December, the russian army attacked Varva community in Pryluky region using a drone. As a result of the attack, a private house was destroyed by fire. A 58-year-old woman managed to escape the burning house through a window.
The russian army continued to attack border communities in Chernihiv oblast. Over the past day, the following incidents were recorded:
Semenivka community:
2 explosions (probably, by FPV-drone) near Karpovychi;
10 explosions (probably, by 120mm mortar) near Kostobobriv;
3 explosions (probably, by artillery) near Bleshnia;
3 explosions (probably, by 120mm mortar) near Mykolaivka;
5 explosions (probably, by 120mm mortar) near Bleshnia.
Horodnia community:
4 explosions (probably, by 120mm mortar) near Senkivka village.
According to preliminary information, there were no casualties or injuries among the local population.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that at night, the occupiers fired artillery at Nikopol region. They targeted one of the villages of the Chervonohryhorivka community. The enemy went on shelling Nikopol region throughout the day. They carried out more than a dozen attacks. They attacked the area with kamikaze drones and artillery. A 60-year-old man was injured by an enemy drone strike and hospitalised in moderate condition. The occupants were targeting the region centre and Marhanets community. Multi-storey buildings, a private house, a greenhouse, a petrol station and 2 cars were damaged.
Vinnytsia oblast
During the week from 25 November to 1 December, Vinnytsia oblast lost 20 defenders of Ukraine.
Kirovohrad oblast
In Kropyvnytskyi, people with placards took part in a peaceful rally “Don’t be silent, captivity kills” in support of prisoners of war.
Poltava oblast
Volunteers have sent Poltava, a long-range sniper system, to the frontline. The 338 calibre rifle is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 2 kilometres. This collection was launched after the shelling of the Institute of Communications in Poltava on 3 September.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, said that at night, defenders destroyed three enemy UAVs in Cherkasy oblast.
A rally in support of prisoners of war and missing persons “Don’t be silent – captivity kills” was held in Cherkasy. Relatives, friends of the defenders, volunteers, military personnel and concerned citizens gathered on Soborna Square.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
On 30 November, the occupiers carried out 315 strikes on eight settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. 191 drones of various modifications attacked Kamianske, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, and Novodarivka. Additionally, 124 artillery strikes targeted Kamianske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, and Novodarivka. Two reports of damage to residential buildings and infrastructure were received. One person was injured in russian attacks on Polohy region.
It is reported that the occupiers continue preparations for assault operations towards Huliaipole and Orikhiv directions, actively conducting aerial and engineering survey and strengthening their electronic warfare (EW) and air defense systems.
An elderly woman and her pets were evacuated from the frontline town of Stepnohirsk. Natalia Oleksandrivna, a resident of Stepnohirsk, had refused to leave the frontline town because of her pets, as she had nowhere to take her two dogs. Law enforcement first evacuated the woman to Zaporizhzhia, and a few days later, her four-legged companions were also brought to safety.
Mykolaiv oblast
On 30 November, the enemy launched six FPV drone attacks on Kutsurub community throughout the day. No casualties were reported.
Odesa oblast
As of 6 am, two carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles were present in the Black Sea.
Four vessels transited the Kerch Strait into the Black Sea in the interests of the russian federation, while three ships moved into the Sea of Azov.
Kherson oblast
Around 8:15 am, russian forces attacked public transport in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson using drones. Three people were killed, and eight others were injured. Among the victims was a local volunteer who was on her way to church when the drone strike occurred.
Later, at approximately 3:40 p.m., another drone attack targeted a passenger bus in Kherson. Preliminary reports indicate that a 44-year-old woman was injured and hospitalized with blast injuries. Subsequently, another victim was identified: a 35-year-old woman who sustained explosive and cranial injuries, a concussion, and shrapnel wounds to the head.
Yesterday, russian forces shelled Antonivka, Prydniprovske, Sadove, Inzhenerne, Bilozerka, Stanislav, Beryslav, Zolota Balka, Novovorontsovka, Havrylivka, Odradokamianka, Khreshchenivka, Burhunka, and Kherson. Eleven private homes, a gas pipeline, storage facilities, garages, buses, and private vehicles were damaged. Two people were killed, and 15 were injured due to russian aggression.
Two residents of Kherson oblast sought medical assistance after earlier drone attacks. A 62-year-old man from Dniprovskyi district of Kherson suffered blast injuries, as well as head and leg shrapnel wounds when a drone dropped explosives near his home. A 59-year-old man from Beryslav, injured in a drone attack on 26 November, sustained leg wounds and a blast injury.
On 30 November, the enemy attempted four unsuccessful assaults towards Kherson, suffering losses in personnel and equipment before retreating to their positions.
Ukraine’s Southern Defense Forces eliminated 142 enemy personnel and destroyed 16 vehicles and armored units. Additionally, they struck 12 engineering and fortification structures, two personnel accommodations, 15 bunkers, two weapons and ammunition storage sites, and two firing positions.
Electricity supply in Kherson oblast has been nearly restored. Heating has been resumed for 865 apartment buildings, representing 78% of the total. Centralized water supply is available to 90% of consumers in Kherson, covering approximately 110,000 consumers. However, due to the challenging security situation and extensive damage from russian attacks, Antonivka, Sadove, Prydniprovske, and parts of Zymivnyk remain without electricity.
In November, Ukrainian Red Cross volunteers distributed over 21,000 food packages to Kherson residents aged 60+ and people with disabilities. Each package, weighing over 13 kg, was provided with the support of the World Food Program.

Volyn oblast
Lutsk community sent a DJI Mavic 3T quadcopter and a DJI Mavic 3 Pro RC quadcopter to the 1st Mechanized Battalion of the 42nd separate Mechanized Brigade
The 127th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade received 2 DJI Mavic 3T Enterprise Thermal quadcopters, 2 AGM WOLF-7 PRO NL1 night vision binoculars and 10 VRK-8 UAVs with a day camera from Lutsk City Council.
Zakarpattia oblast
In Uzhhorod Lyceum №12, a Safety Classroom was opened. It is the 1st such classroom in communal educational institutions of the city. A separate room was allocated for the Safety Classroom, repaired, equipped and divided into zones. All locations are equipped with dummies, inventory and visual material.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
The oblast sent portable radio-electronic countermeasures to unmanned aerial vehicles worth over UAH 690,000 to the 109th Battalion of the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade thanks to targeted programs to support the military formations of Prykarpattia.
Lviv oblast
Vasyl Skolozdr, senior mechanic-driver of the 9th battalion of the Military Unit A0998, from Strii region, was awarded the III degree For Courage Order. He was killed on 24 December 2022, during shelling near the village of Opytne, Donetsk oblast.
A memorial plaque was installed in memory of the fallen defender from Pustomyt Andrii Kavka, medic of the 42nd Separate Mechanized Brigade. Family members, friends, representatives of the authorities, teachers and classmates of Andrii took part in the opening. He was killed on 21 May 2024 near the village of Staritsa, Kharkiv region, Kharkiv oblast.
Rivne oblast
In Rivne, within the framework of the Challenge sport fest, an archery festival was held, aimed at the rehabilitation of military veterans through sports and support for adaptive sports. Veterans and military personnel undergoing rehabilitation got acquainted with a new sport, communicated and received another vector of social integration.
Ternopil oblast
Ternopil community sent 50 FPV drones to the 5th Separate Tank Brigade thanks to the budget funds.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi communal enterprise received 5 passenger buses from the transport company of Prague.
Chernivtsi oblast
The recruiting center of the 82nd Separate Amphibious Assault Brigade of Bukovyna was opened in Chernivtsi. Here, citizens who plan to join the defense of the state can choose the appropriate military specialty, position and join the ranks of the brigade.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
The French Parliament called for military instructors to be sent to Ukraine. A letter with the relevant content was sent by 5 deputies from different political groups to Sebastian Lecorne, Minister of Defense of the country.
In memory of the Ukrainian children who died as a result of russian aggression, a rally was held in the center of Washington. Over 600 teddy bears with Ukrainian flags on the lawn in front of the Washington Monument in the center of the US capital for a day became an emotional reminder of Ukrainian children who were killed in the russian war. The rally was initiated by the American pastor Jeff Abrams, who heads the Rescue Ukraine organization, as well as United Help Ukraine, US Ukrainian Activists, Anomaly, and the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA. According to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, about 600 Ukrainian children were killed and approximately 1,700 children were injured. The real numbers are obviously much higher.
8 Ukrainian-language audio guides have started working in the Vatican museums. These audio guides are reportedly unique. A total of 19 hours of text, voiced by famous Ukrainians, were recorded. Among them are artists, TV presenters, athletes and Andrii Yurash, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Vatican.
