It has been the 905th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The Defense Forces continue to resolutely counter the enemy’s attempts to advance deeper into Ukrainian territory. russian occupiers are still trying to leverage their advantage in manpower and air support. 

On 16 August, there were 75 combat engagements on the front line.

The enemy was most active now towards Pokrovsk, where they carried out almost a third of all attacks.

The invaders used aviation and artillery, striking border areas in Sumy oblast. In particular, the vicinities of the settlements of Fotovyzh, Stara Huta, Novooleksandrivka, and Druzhba came under artillery fire. The enemy also shelled Bachivsk with MLRSs. Additionally, airstrikes were carried out near Stepok, Myropillya, Mala Rybitsia, Kyianytsya, and Krasnopillia.

Towards Kharkiv, russian terrorists stormed the positions of Ukrainian units eight times in the vicinities of Vovchansk and Lyptsi. Fighting is still ongoing in Vovchansk.

Seven times, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions towards Kupiansk. Near Hlushkivka, Kruhliakivka, and Andriivka, the attacks were repelled by the Defense Forces. The attack towards Lozova is still ongoing. The occupiers carried out two airstrikes with guided bombs on Kupi щоansk-Vuzlovyi.

Towards Lyman, the enemy attacked in the vicinities of Makiivka, Nevske, and Torske. There were six clashes in that area, with a battle still ongoing near Makiivka. The situation is under control. The vicinities of Osynove, Druzheliubivka, and Serebrianka were hit by russian bombs, with a total of eight guided bombs used by the occupiers.

The enemy continued its attempts to break through the defenses of Ukrainian troops towards Siversk but was met with a strong response from Ukrainian soldiers. Near Verkhnokamianske, Spirne, and Pereizne, the occupiers attempted seven times to push Ukrainian units out of their positions. All attacks were stopped.

Towards Kramatorsk, the invaders carried out three assaults near Hryhorivka and Chasiv Yar. Two of these clashes are still ongoing.

Towards Toretsk, the number of enemy attacks increased to eight. The enemy attacked near the settlements of Toretsk and Bila Hora, where Ukrainian defenders repelled two assaults. Six clashes were over towards Niu-York, Zalizne, and Nelipivka. The aggressor’s aviation bombed Toretsk, and the invaders also shelled Dachne and Niu-York with unguided air rockets.

Towards Pokrovsk, there was the highest number of clashes. The occupiers made 23 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders out of their positions towards Vozdvizhenka, Vodiane, Novohrodivka, Hrodivka, Zhelanne, Kalynivka, Ptyche, and attacked towards Zelenyi Pol. The Defense Forces held back the pressure and repelled 17 enemy attacks, with six battles still ongoing. Three airstrikes with unguided rockets hit Oleksandropil.

Towards Kurakhove, the invaders attacked Ukrainian units nine times. They attempted to advance near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Oleksandrivka, and Kostiantynivka, with the latter being hit by unguided rockets.

Towards Vremivka, one assault towards Kostyantynivka was repelled. russian unguided air rockets exploded near Vuhledar and Novodonetske, with the invaders firing from Ka-52 helicopters.

Towards Mala Tokmachka and Orikhiv, the occupiers made one unsuccessful attempt to advance, yet failed.

A similar situation occurred towards Kherson, where one enemy attack was also repelled.

Towards other areas, no significant changes occurred.

The Financial Times, citing its own sources in Ukrainian intelligence, reported that Ukraine began negotiations with russia regarding the exchange of prisoners who were captured in Kursk oblast. The exact number of soldiers has not been disclosed.

According to the SSU, the capture of 102 russian servicemen in  Kursk oblast has been confirmed. Among the prisoners are officers of the Akhmat unit.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

The General Staff reported that as of 4pm, towards Kupiansk, a russian assault towards Lozova and Borova community continues, while in the north of Kharkiv oblast, the Defence Forces are repelling russians in Vovchansk. In total, since the beginning of the day, the russian army has attacked 7 times towards Kupiansk and 8 times towards Kharkiv.

At 9:10am, russian troops shelled Odnorobivka in Zolochiv community. According to Viktor Kovalenko, Head of the Village Military Administration, the village suffered damage to outbuildings and power grids. There were no casualties.

At 7:30pm, russians attacked Kozacha Lopan village of Derhachi community, Kharkiv region. The agricultural building was on fire and a motorbike damaged.

At 5:45pm, russians attacked Tymofiivka village of Zolochiv community, Kharkiv region. As a result of the shelling, two private and two one-storey apartment buildings, outbuildings and power lines were damaged.

At 3:33pm, russians attacked Prykolotne village, Vilkhuvata community of Kupiansk region. As a result of the shelling, furniture, structural elements and the roof of a warehouse building were burning. 6 people were injured, a 45-year-old and a 58-year-old man killed. Vilkhuvata community reported the names of those killed at the enterprise in Prykolotne: Mykola Patsakula and Pavlo Kozlov. 16 August was declared a day of mourning in the community.

At 3:20pm, russians attacked Prykolotne village, Vilkhuvata community, Kupiansk region. The building of Prykolotne school was damaged as a result of enemy shelling.

At 12:33pm, russians attacked Zolochiv village. As a result of the shelling, a house burned down. A pre-school institution, Zolochiv House of Culture, three shops, 30 private houses, the building of the Centre for Administrative Services and a private enterprise were damaged. A total of 6 people, including 1 child, were injured.

At 12:17pm, russians attacked beyond Borova village of Izium region. As a result of the shelling, grass and reeds burned on an area of 1 hectare.

At 11am, russians attacked Odnorobivka village of Zolochiv community, Bohodukhiv region. The shelling damaged a house.

The State Emergency Service reported that rescuers extinguished six fires after shelling in Kharkiv, Bohodukhiv, Izium and Kupiansk regions. The largest fires occurred as a result of shelling in Prykolotne as one russian bomb hit the building of the enterprise, causing a 300m² fire. The second bomb caused a 900m² fire in a warehouse building.

Towards Kharkiv, there were seven engagements near Lyptsi, Starytsia and Vovchansk.

Towards Kupiansk, there were 16 combat engagements. Defence forces repelled assaults near Synkivka, Hlushkivka, Kolisnykivka, Andriivka, Kruhliakivka, Stelmakhivka and Berestove.

Andrii Kanashevych, Head of the RMA, informed that due to the threat of russian FPV drone strikes in Kupiansk, residents are moving less on the streets. According to him, on 14 August, there were seven hits by FPV drones in the city. At the same time, people have started to evacuate more often from the settlements located on the left bank of the Oskil River in Kupiansk region. The situation on the left bank is tense.

Books that survived the shelling of a printing house in Kharkiv were donated to the Cambridge library. They became part of the Slavic Library’s collection.

The Ministry of Reintegration and Temporarily Occupied Territories confirmed that the Cabinet of Ministers has approved a decree to transfer the property complex of the Ukrainian Scientific and Clinical Centre for Prosthetics and Rehabilitation to the joint ownership of the territorial communities of Kharkiv oblast.

Donetsk oblast

Anastasiia Miedviedieva, Spokeswoman of Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, reported that one person was killed as a result of the russian shelling of Toretsk. A 73-year-old woman in Siversk was also injured in the shelling.

Serhii Tsehotskyi, an officer of the 59th Brigade, informed that at night, the russian army tried to storm Novohrodivka in Donetsk oblast. Also russian troops attacked Krasnohorivka. According to the officer, the russian occupiers are trying to achieve at least some success at the front against the backdrop of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ operation in Kursk region. The russian army is sending reserves to Donetsk oblast to increase pressure.

The General Staff reported that the most of the combat was towards Pokrovsk yesterday, where the russian army stormed Ukrainian military positions 41 times. 20 battles were recorded towards Toretsk, where the russian army attacked near Zalizne, Toretsk, Pivnichne and Niu-York. Also russians remain active towards Kurakhove. Yesterday the occupation forces attacked 19 times near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka and Kostiantynivka.  

The enemy troops fired 2,766 times at the contact line and residential areas. According to Donetsk police, 12 settlements were under attack: Kostiantynivka, Kurakhove, Myrnohrad, Novohrodivka, Toretsk, Ukrainsk, Kurakhivka, Verkhnokamianske, Zoria, Lysivka, Malynivka and Mykolaivka. 13 civilian objects were destroyed, including 9 residential buildings.

In Verkhnokamianske, the enemy killed two residents by artillery. 

Another person was killed in Mykolaivka, and a private house was damaged.

The occupiers hit Kostiantynivka twice with cluster munitions by Smerch multiple rocket launchers, injuring two civilians and damaging two private houses, a petrol station and power lines.

In Novohrodivka, three civilians were injured as a result of a drone strike. A civilian was injured in Chasiv Yar as a result of a russian attack on 14 August. 

Vasyl Chynchyk, Head of the CMA, reported that russian reconnaissance groups are entering Toretsk. The armed forces are driving them out of the city, “clearing” the territories of the city where they broke through. About 2,500 people still remain in the town.

The forced evacuation of children from Selydove community continues. Rescue teams of the State Emergency Service are helping families to leave for Pokrovsk. Volunteers then register people and take them to safer regions of Ukraine by bus and rail.

Marharyta Idrisova, Deputy Head of Pokrovsk CMA, reported that there are still about 50,000 people in Pokrovsk community. As the frontline approaches the town, more and more people are volunteering to evacuate to the central and western regions of Ukraine.  

Kramatorsk City Council stated that the information about the alleged partial evacuation is a fake spread by the russians.

Mariupol City Council said that refugees from Kursk region are to be accommodated in the temporarily occupied Mariupol. The so-called authorities of Mariupol have issued an order to prepare and submit proposals for their accommodation.

Luhansk oblast

Yesterday russians attacked Nevske with artillery and used drones in the direction of the settlement. According to the RMA, the situation in Makiivka is the same. Yesterday, bread was delivered to Nevske and Novolyubivka and distribute it to the locals who are still staying despite the danger.

Yesterday the enemy tried to advance near Stelmakhivka, Andriivka, Nevske, Makiivka and Bilohorivka.

By 1 September, school students in the so-called “lpr” will receive diaries with a russian-designed layout. The pages of the diary will mention the history of the region rewritten by russians. From the XIX century, there is an immediate transition to 2014, as if nothing had happened in between. The region is not mentioned as part of Ukraine or the Ukrainian SSR. At the same time, there are state symbols of the russian Federation and the so-called “lpr”. The main events of the last ten years, according to the occupiers, are listed. To date, more than 100,000 copies have been printed. The propaganda starts with the first grade.

The occupation authorities of the “lpr” are going to develop the space industry. The territory captured by the russians lacks relevant developments, infrastructure, university faculties, scientists, and even the achievements of the past. However, there is already a cooperation agreement with Roscosmos that promises all this. The collaborators hope that the document will give “a new impetus to the development of the space industry in Luhansk oblast.”

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The regional military administration reported that at night the enemy attacked Kyiv oblast with armed drones. According to the operational groups, there were no hits to residential and critical infrastructure or civilian casualties.

Bucha City Council reported about the visit by Umar Hadi, Director General of the Directorate for the Americas and Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, and Arief Muhammad Basalamah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Indonesia to Ukraine. At the Church of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called, the guests were introduced to the horrific events that the community experienced in February-March 2022. The delegation also paid tribute to the memory of killed Bucha residents at the installation of a memorial to 509 civilian victims.

Kyiv City State Administration announced that Kyiv is preparing for the cold weather in the face of possible power cuts due to widespread damage to the energy infrastructure. 80% of the capital’s buildings and municipal facilities have already been prepared for winter. We have tested 85% of heating networks for strength and repaired more than 1,500 damaged areas. Scheduled repairs and routine maintenance at boiler houses and heating stations have been completed by 90%.

The Ukrainian Women’s Guard welcomes participants to a one-day course in tactical medicine, which will teach them how to provide first aid in a war zone. The training will take place in Kyiv on 18 August at Vcentri HUB: Obolon. The class will consist of a lecture and practical exercises. Upon completion of the training, participants will receive a certificate.

Vitalii Klychko, Mayor of Kyiv, handed over another batch of aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the community of the capital.  He reported that 600 UAVs of various types were sent to the soldiers of the 5th separate Kyiv assault brigade in Donbas.

On 17 August, the International Day of Stray Animals, an event will be held in the centre of Kyiv where those wishing to adopt a cat or a dog will meet animals from the frontline area, listen to lectures on adoption and enjoy a performance by the band Tember Blanche. The event will be held as part of the large Brit project ‘Feel Yours. Find yourself’, which motivates people to take animals, including those rescued from war, from adoption centres.

The Department of Public Communications of Kyiv City State Administration informed that information stands about renamed streets are being installed in Kyiv as part of an information campaign on the decolonisation of place names. The first information stands were installed on Levko Lukianenko Street in Obolon district and Vasyl Ovsienko Street in Solomianka district. In total, more than 350 streets have been renamed in the city since 2022. 

Zhytomyr oblast

On 15 August, in Zhytomyr, Dmytro Lubinets, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, met with relatives of prisoners of war and missing persons. During the meeting, the ombudsman shared how the exchange of prisoners is going and whether the status of a wanted person affects it.

The Ombudsman’s Office reported that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Zhytomyr oblast remains an important humanitarian hub. Currently, oblast shelters about 58,000 internally displaced persons, of whom 15,500 are children, 3,200 are people with disabilities and 366 are large families. Particular attention is being paid to the evacuation of people with limited mobility from dangerous oblasts to residential institutions in the region, where they are provided with everything they need: accommodation, food and medical care.

The regional military administration reported that 100 DJI Mavic 3 Pro quadcopters were delivered today from Zhytomyr oblast to the 115th Territorial Defence Brigade with the help of philanthropists. The delivery of the drones was made possible thanks to the support of ATB Corporation. 

One of the brigades in Zhytomyr oblast, thanks to the help of the Your Step Foundation, received a vehicle repair shop designed to maintain and repair wheeled vehicles in the field.

Oleksandr Sytailo, Mayor of Malyn, announced that since 13 August, a delegation from the Latvian city of Bauska, which is a twin city of Malyn, has been visiting the Malyn community. The Latvians came to learn from the experience in responding to military aggression, namely defence, cooperation with the military, evacuation of the population, preservation of health and life. 

Sumy oblast

 At night and in the morning, russians fired 23 times at the border areas and settlements of Sumy oblast. 65 explosions were recorded. Yunakivka, Myropillia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Bereza, Hlukhiv, Esman, Seredyna-Buda and Svesa communities were shelled.

Krasnopillia community: the enemy attacked with mortars (16 explosions), artillery (11 explosions), FPV drone (1 explosion), and carried out air strikes with UAVs (2 explosions).

Bilopillia community: mortar shelling (3 explosions), FPV drone strike (1 explosion), and UAV air strikes (2 explosions).

Svesa community: an FPV drone strike was recorded (1 explosion).

Yunakivka community: the enemy launched a missile attack (1 explosion), an air strike by an aerial vehicle (1 explosion).

Velyka Pysarivka community: an FPV drone strike was carried out (1 explosion).

Bereza community: there was a drone strike (2 explosions).

Hlukhiv community: a drone strike was recorded (1 explosion).

Esman community: 10 mines were dropped by russians on the territory of the community.

Seredyna-Buda community: the enemy attacked with artillery (8 explosions).

Myropillia community: aerial strikes were carried out by the Ukrainian military (4 explosions).

During the day on 15 August, russians fired 56 times at the border areas and settlements of Sumy oblast. 147 explosions were recorded.

Khotyn, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Sloboda, Putyvl, Hlukhiv, Esman, Seredyna-Buda and Svesa communities were shelled.

On 15 and 16 August, the russian federation attacked Sumy oblast with guided aerial bombs, hitting Krasnopillia Forestry. A 44-year-old manipulator driver, Oleh Rybalko, was killed. One of the employees sustained a head injury due to the collapse of the roof of the building. She is now in a stable condition. The blast wave smashed windows in the office, workshop and garage of the Krasnopillia branch of the State Enterprise ‘Forests of Ukraine’.

Two women, aged 74 and 53, were wounded in the russian attack on Krasnopillia. The Sumy regional prosecutor’s office confirmed that at least 5 houses and a local club building were damaged.

The fighting in Sumy oblast left 1,500 households in 4 residents without electricity. The Ministry of Energy reported that as a result of the hostilities, 7,700 residents in the region remain without electricity.

Evacuations from the border communities in Sumy oblast have been going on for more than a year. Currently, the number of people who have decided to leave the danger zone has increased significantly.

The evacuation is being carried out in an organised manner in cooperation with the police and the State Emergency Service, with the support and assistance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. More than 60% of the population has already been evacuated from the border area.

In Sumy community, pre-schools will continue to operate remotely until 30 August. The Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations of Sumy City Community decided that emergency groups will operate if necessary.

Chernihiv oblast

Throughout the day, russian forces carried out attacks on the border areas of Chernihiv oblast using 120 mm mortars, drones, and artillery. 58 explosions were recorded.

Novhorod-Siverskyi community: 32 explosions (probably caused by FPV drones, barrel artillery and mortars) in Mikhalchyna Sloboda, Gremiach, Pushkari and Vorobivka regions.

As a result of enemy shelling, 6 private houses were damaged.

There are no losses among the local population.
Semenivka community: 12 explosions nearby Semenivka  (1 hit from UAV, 1 hit probably from FPV-drone and 10 hits probably from barrel artillery)

Snovska community: 14 explosions around Khrinivka and Kliusy (probably from 120 mm mortars).

No casualties or injuries from shelling among the local population were reported.

The Chief Directorate of National Police in Chernihiv oblast reported that a total of eight residential buildings, farm buildings and civil infrastructure facility were damaged caused by russian shelling in  Novhorod-Siverskyi region of Chernihiv oblast on 15 August.


Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine was on a working visit in  Chernihiv oblast on 15 August, where discussed with local educators issues of nutrition, shelters, school buses and other urgent issues necessary for ensuring the most effective offline education process. The meeting took place in Koriukivka region. The main issue, which will remain on the agenda for a long time, is safety. According to  Minister, additional grants will be allocated to Chernihiv oblast, which will be transitional and can be used for building shelters. Additionally, the New Ukrainian School (NUS) subvention has already been distributed. The funds will soon arrive to oblast and then it will be allocated to communities. The priority remains in-person learning. However, where this is not possible due to the proximity of the aggressor country, children will study online. Therefore, work in regions is also being done to improve the quality of online education.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast State Administration, reported that the occupants did not stop attacking Nikopol until the morning. They she shelled the region center, Marhanetsk and Pokrovsk with artillery and drones.

An unused building caught fire, a private house, a utility company, a garage, a fire truck, a power line and infrastructure were damaged. 

In the afternoon, the fighters of the Shid military group shot down two enemy missiles. Several fires broke out. The enemy continued to shell Nikopol region – more than fifteen attacks were made in the area during the day. The regional center, Myrove, Marhanets and Pokrovsk were hit with artillery and kamikaze drones. Five private houses, two outbuildings, infrastructure and cars were damaged.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​ In Vinnytsia, more than 100 specialists, including rescuers, military, doctors and police, took part in an exercise to practise how to respond to chemical contamination. 

Vinnytsia City Council reported that 30 children from privileged categories have returned from a vacation in the Czech Republic. The Czech partners organised an informative two-week program for children from families of defenders and IDPs. Young Vinnytsia residents took part in hiking, scooter rides, swimming and other activities.

Kirovohrad oblast

In Haivoron region of Kirovohrad oblast, locals said goodbye to 40-year-old Mykhailo Kovalenko. On the first day of the full-scale invasion, he joined the Armed Forces and fought in the Donetsk oblast. The defender died on 12 August, 2024 near the village of Vodiane.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Yesterday, the occupiers launched 362 strikes on 13 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces conducted 2 airstrikes on Huliaipole. A total of 244 drones of various modifications attacked Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka, and Poltavka. Five MLRS strikes hit Novodanylivka and Robotyne. There were 111 artillery shellings on the territories of Stepnohirsk, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka, Poltavka, Omelnyk, Preobrazhenka, and Chervona Krynytsia. Twenty-one reports of damage to residential buildings and infrastructure facilities were received.

It is reported that russian troops conducted two assaults on Ukrainian positions near Mala Tokmachka towards Orikhiv.

On the morning of 15 August, an explosion occurred in temporarily occupied Berdiansk. According to Viktoria Halitsyna, Head of the Berdiansk Military-Civil Administration, the explosion is likely related to the elimination of Pavlo Ishchuk—one of the deputies of the so-called mayor of the city.

Mykolaiv oblast

On the night of 16 August, air defense forces destroyed a Shahed-136/131 drone in Mykolaiv oblast.

On 15 August, at 06:59 and 09:08, the enemy attacked Kutsurub community with two FPV drones. There were no casualties.

Demining training by The HALO Trust is underway un Kostiantynivka community. Currently, 31 students are taking a course in manual demining at the training site. The course is designed for 25 days. After completion, the graduates become deminers.

Odesa oblast

As of 6:00am, there was one enemy ship in the Black Sea, which is a carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles with a total salvo capacity of up to four missiles. There are no enemy ships in the Sea of Azov, and one enemy ship is present in the Mediterranean Sea.

Yesterday, four vessels passed through the Kerch Strait into the Black Sea, and nine vessels passed into the Sea of Azov in the interests of the russian federation.

Kherson oblast

An ambulance was attacked  in Stanislav with a drone and shelled firefighters who were extinguishing a fire in Antonivka.

Around 5:40am, the occupying forces shelled Tomyna Balka. The enemy strikes damaged nearly half a dozen homes of local residents, with roofs, windows, doors, and walls shattered. A 71-year-old man who was inside sustained blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to his back and shoulder. An 80-year-old local woman suffered a blast injury and a concussion.

At midnight, the russian army shelled a residential building in Antonivka. As a result of the enemy attack, a 65-year-old woman was injured. She sustained a blast injury, a head injury, and a contusion of the shin.

The head of the Military-Civil Administration, Roman Mrochko, reported that russian troops destroyed Ukraine’s first and only ‘green school’ in Kherson oblast. The educational institution, built with the support of the Finnish government, welcomed its first two hundred students in 2016. The ‘green school’ was constructed following European energy-saving principles.

A child injured in russian shelling of Kherson a few days ago was hospitalized. The 10-year-old boy was diagnosed with a blast injury and a concussion.

Yesterday, russian forces attacked 22 settlements using mortars, artillery, MLRSs, drones, and aviation. The settlements under enemy fire included Kherson, Antonivka, Tokarivka, Oleksandrivka, Sofiivka, Stanislav, Sadove, Zorivka, Blahodatne, Myroliubivka, Beryslav, Olhivka, Dudchany, Zmiivka, Havrylivka, Novokairy, Zolota Balka, Chervonyi Maiak, Kachkarivka, Mykhailivka, Burhunka, and Kozatske. The russian army killed two civilians and injured three others; two men died in the hospital as a result of previous attacks. Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

74 children from foster families living in Volyn oblast went to the Artek-Bukovel camp. Among them are not only from the oblast, but also children who moved from oblasts affected by the russian invasion. This became possible thanks to the Olena Zelenska Foundation.

Zakarpattia oblast

Zakarpattia Regional Council agreed to provide one-time assistance in the amount of UAH 100,000 to families of the deceased residents of Zakarpattia oblast who participated in hostilities during the period of martial law.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

This week, 2 more families of Heroes went on vacation to the Fenix complex, the Carpathians. Thanks to the Care for the Hero’s Family project. During the week, 2 mothers and 5 children are provided with comfortable living conditions, interesting leisure activities, and sports activities that will allow them to forget about the daily routine, recharge emotionally and improve physically.

Lviv oblast

Lviv City Council has already held 15 meetings with relatives of defenders who are buried at the Lychakiv cemetery. During the discussion of the draft project of the Memorial Complex of Military Burials, relatives can ask all questions that concern them and submit their suggestions. Meetings with relatives have been held in the city council for 4 months and over 400 families of the fallen have already visited them.

Soon, the 5th race will take place within the framework of the Rehabilitation of Military Families project, which is aimed at strengthening family ties, restoring mutual understanding and trust, on the basis of a training centre in Lviv oblast. The event will last from 30 August to 8 September. Participation is completely free. Travel, accommodation, food, professional support of psychotherapists and a priest, field trips will be provided for all those who wish. Veterans, military personnel and necessarily members of their families (wives and children) are invited to join.

The exhibition I Paint With My Heart was opened in Lviv Palace of Arts. These are 105 paintings painted by women who lost their husbands and sons of military personnel during the full-scale war. The exhibition aims to tell visitors about the unique stories of the lives of the Heroes and their families.

Rivne oblast

For the 2nd year in a row, the Game City conference is taking place in Rivne oblast. This year, the event became a meeting place for over 50 participants, including IT specialists, company managers and young entrepreneurs. This year’s IT conference covers a wide range of topics: from education and business to game development and programming.

Preparations for the start of the academic year continue in the oblast. Specifically, in schools and kindergartens where there are no shelters, protected spaces will be arranged. These are parts of the building that are reinforced with gabions or reinforced concrete structures. Such premises will be located on the basement, basement or 1st floors.

Ternopil oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Arad Benko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to Ukraine. They discussed support and cooperation.

On the occasion of the 484th anniversary of the city of Ternopil, a new commemorative sign was traditionally installed on the Alley of Stars. This year, the bronze star was dedicated to families of Heroes. Alley of Stars in Ternopil was opened in 2011, every year new names of prominent residents of the city who made a significant contribution to the development of the city appear here.

Ternopil community sent 40 attack drones to the 110th Separate Mechanised Brigade thanks to the budget funds.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Since the beginning of this year, Khmelnytskyi community has sent  almost 110 electronic devices of various types, almost 360 quadcopters, including hexacopters and over 4,300 FPV drones to the military thanks to the budget funds.

Chernivtsi oblast

The RMA reported that senior soldier Oleksandr Orynchuk and senior sergeant Anatolii Rusa were awarded Defender of the Fatherland medals (posthumously). 

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The Ministry of Defense of Lithuania reported that they sent a new package of military aid to Ukraine. In August they planned to deliver 14 M113 armoured personnel carriers, short-range anti-aircraft missile systems, anti-aircraft systems, individual anti-aircraft suppressors, all-terrain vehicles with spare parts, loaders, rifles, ammunition, smoke grenades, attachments and spare parts to arms.

Canada allowed Ukraine to use its armoured vehicles on the territory of russia. The Canadian Ministry of Defense noted that Ottawa sent 8 Leopard 2A4 tanks, several dozen armoured combat support vehicles and hundreds of armoured patrol vehicles to Kyiv.

The UN asked the russian federation to provide human rights monitors with access to Kursk, Belhorod and Bryansk oblasts. The request was forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the russian federation.
