War in Ukraine today: latest news, October 14, 2022 (photo)

It has been the 233nd day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6pm:

The aggressor continues to focus its efforts on trying to reach the administrative border of the Donetsk Oblast, as well as to hold the occupied areas of Kharkiv, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv and Kherson oblasts. 

The enemy does not cease striking at critical infrastructure and civilian targets of our country. The infrastructure and civilians of the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Chumaky, Lebedynske, Zaporizhzhia, Davydiv Brid, Myrne and Ochakiv were affected.

To commit its crimes, the enemy used cruise, aviation, anti-aircraft guided missiles and Iranian-made strike unmanned aerial vehicles.

In total, the occupiers inflicted three missile and ten air strikes, carried out up to ten attacks from multiple launch rocket systems.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, the situation has not changed significantly. 

The leadership of the republic of belarus continues to provide assistance to the russian federation to carry out military aggression on the territory of Ukraine. Thus, according to available information, another echelon with weapons, military equipment and ammunition arrived from Gomel to the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

The enemy fired towards:

Siversk from mortars and barreled artillery in the areas of Ukrainske and Atynske, Sumy oblast;

Sloboda Ukraine from mortars, barreled and rocket artillery in the areas of Strelecha, Krasne, Ohirtseve, Vovchansk, Zelene, Starytsia, Dvorichne and Hrianyvka;

Kramatorsk from artillery of various types, in the areas Pershotravneve, Nadezhda, Novoyehorivka, Olhvka, Hrekivka, Yampolivka, Terny, Zarichne, Torske;

Bakhmut from tanks, mortars, barreled and rocket artillery in the areas of over fifteen settlements along the entire line of contact, namely  Siversk, Bilohorivka, Hryhorivka, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Kostiantynivka, Opytne, Ivanhrad;

Avdiivka from tanks and multi-caliber artillery, in the areas of Berdychi, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, Vodiane, Opytne, Nevelske and Marinka.

Towards Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions and continued to equip positions for defense. He fired mortars, barreled and rocket artillery at more than twenty settlements. Among them are Novosilka, Vremivka, Novopil, Neskuchne, Zolota Nyva, Vuhledar, Kamiansk=e and Bilohiria.

Towards the South Buh, areas of more than thirty settlements along the contact line suffered fire damage.

In the temporarily occupied city of Kherson, the occupiers seized 13 out of 15 barge-type watercraft from the local river port to transport personnel and equipment across the Dnipro River.

In the temporarily occupied territory of the Ukrainian Crimea, the occupation authorities issued an order defining the procedure for evacuating museums. In particular, for museums in the temporarily occupied region, plans for internal (within the occupied region) and external (to the territory of the russian federation) evacuation have been approved. Exhibits of the greatest material value are subject to priority evacuation.

 According to the updated information, destruction of a significant number of enemy personnel in the previous days was confirmed. Thus, as a result of effective actions of the Defense Forces in the areas of the settlements of Khlibodarivka of Donetsk oblast, Tokmak of Zaporizhzhia oblast and Tokarivka of Kherson oblast, the occupiers lost up to 150 people dead and about 100 wounded. 3 S-300 complexes and up to 10 units of other weapons and military equipment were also destroyed 

According to preliminary information, in the area of the railway station in the city of Antratsyt, Luhansk oblast, our soldiers destroyed a significant part of the enemy’s weapons and military equipment transported by rail. The scale and nature of the damage are being clarified.

Aviation of the Defense Forces inflicted thirteen strikes. The defeat of twelve buildups of weapons and military equipment, as well as one enemy anti-aircraft missile system, was confirmed. 

Rocket forces and artillery struck three control points, eight buildups of manpower, weapons and military equipment, and three ammunition depots.

Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced that Ukrainians raised UAH 100 million in 8 hours. The fundraiser for the Shaheed Catcher opened this morning. This is an anti-drone system aimed to destroy enemy UAVs. The collection continues. As of 9pm, UAH 120 million was raised.

Adviser to the Head of the President’s Office Mykhailo Podoliak says that Ukraine will find solutions to continue the operation of Starlink satellite communication. The company is expected to provide a stable connection by the end of the negotiations.


Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dvorichna, Hatyshche, Hrianykivka, Ohirtseve, Starytsia and Strilecha were under enemy fire.

Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that the renovation of critical infrastructure in the liberated territories continues. He noted that gas supply was restored to Izium, and the first 500 families of the city already have gas in their homes. In addition, gas supply to 15 villages of Izium district is being re-established. About 900 households have been connected to gas supply. Works are also ongoing in Balakliia. At the same time, gas supply is being restored in Blahodativka, Hrushkivka, Moskovka and Nechvolodivka villages of the Kupiansk region. Restoration work is also in progress in Volokhiv Yar in the Chuhuiv region. Power supply is restored in Velykyi Burluk and in 18 neighbouring settlements. More than 4 K residents have electricity back. A local hospital, a school, a sewage pumping station, a water supply facility and some administrative buildings are also connected to the grid.

Kharkiv Mayor, Ihor Terekhov, said that the invaders launched four strikes on the city. He later reported several more explosions.

The russians damaged non-residential premises in the Kharkiv region. The invaders launched five rockets from Russia’s Belgorod. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties.

The enemy continued to terrorize civilians in the Kharkiv oblast.

The night before, the invaders launched a rocket attack on the Kholodna Hora district in Kharkiv, hitting the road surface. No casualties were reported.

In the Chuhuiv region, four missile strikes damaged an infrastructure facility. One person was injured.

The day before, the enemy massively shelled Kupiansk. Three shops and a trade pavilion were damaged and fires broke out. The enemy shelled  settlements in Chuhuiv, Kharkiv and Kupiansk regions with barrel and rocket artillery and mortars.

According to the Regional Centre for Emergency Medical Care, 6 people, including a 16-year-old boy, were hospitalised with injuries in the Kupiansk region. Another 16-year-old boy was injured in the Izium region.

De-mining continues in the region. The State Emergency Service units defused 702 explosive objects.

Donetsk oblast

Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, informed that law enforcers found the bodies of 4 civilians killed earlier: 2 in Lyman and 2 in Yakovlivka. Another 6 people were injured the day before.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian servicemen destroyed a russian military depot in Khlibodarivka.

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, said that Ukrzaliznytsia launched trains to Kramatorsk for the first time after a six-month break. Railway connection with the north of Donetsk oblast was cancelled after a rocket attack on the railway station in Kramatorsk on April 8.

The night was relatively quiet in Donetsk oblast.

At around 1:30 am, the russians shelled Kostiantynivka: 2 two-storey buildings were damaged, one of them had its retaining wall destroyed. No casualties.

Also overnight, there were sporadic attacks near the villages of the Ocheretyne community – no casualties or destruction were reported.

By morning, there was artillery shelling of Avdiivka – shells landed near apartment buildings. The aftermath is being established.

Based on the information provided by National Police, the exhumation of bodies from the mass grave of the Armed Forces’ soldiers was completed in the liberated Lyman. The exhumation of another mass grave with civilians is ongoing.

Luhansk oblast

According to the General Staff, in temporarily occupied Antratsyt, a significant part of russian weapons and military equipment were destroyed near a railway station.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine launched 25 strikes. More than 19 buildups of weapons and military equipment and 6 enemy anti-aircraft missile systems were hit. In addition, our air defence units shot down 5 cruise missiles and 9 UAVs.

Rocket and artillery troops hit 3 control posts, 5 buildups of manpower, weapons and military equipment and 2 ammunition depots. An enemy electronic warfare station was also hit in the impact sites.

Enemy attacks were repelled in Bakhmut, Ivanhrad, Nevelske, Nova Kamianka, Odradivka, Opytne, Sukhyi Stavok, Terny and Vesele settlements.

The russians shelled the following settlements with various types of weapons:

  • in Bakhmut direction – Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, Bilohorivka, Chasic Yar, Ivanhrad, Maiorsk, Opytne, Soledar, Yakovlivka and Zelenopillia;
  • in Kramatorsk direction – Bilohorivka, Nadiia, Olhivka, Spirne, Terny, Torske, Travneve, Yampolivka and Zarichne.

Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Haidai, reported that in Lysychansk, teachers give assignments to school students once a week because educational institutions are either destroyed or without heating. He also noted that traffic police employees joined the forced mobilisation. The vehicle numbers of those who were postponed from conscription after receiving a subpoena are added to a special electronic system that allows them to track a man.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Mayor Vitalii Klytschko said that 35 people injured during the rocket attack by the russian military in Kyiv are being treated in the capital’s medical facilities. Almost a third of those hospitalized are still in a stable serious condition. 50 ambulances went to the places shelled on October 10 – 43 people were hospitalized, 23 were given outpatient medical care.

During the commemoration of fallen soldiers, Vitalii Klytschko noted that since 2014, almost 640 people from Kyiv have been killed defending Ukraine from russian invaders. By February 2022, there were more than 31,000 veterans of the russian-Ukrainian war in Kyiv. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, about 100K residents of Kyiv have participated in hostilities.

For the first time after a six-month break, Ukrzaliznytsia is launching trains to Kramatorsk, Donetsk oblast. As reported by Ukrzaliznytsia, trains will depart from Kyiv every day.

Head of the regional military administration Oleksii Kuleba announced that the Cabinet of Ministers will allocate UAH 300 million for the restoration of Kyiv oblast after the russian occupation. This money will make it possible to promptly carry out repairs of critically needed facilities.

The regional military administration reported that all educational institutions of Kyiv oblast will continue to work remotely until October 21. This decision was made during a meeting of the operative headquarters of the Defense Council of Kyiv oblast.

The KCSA reported that from October 17, educational institutions in Kyiv will work in both online and offline forms of education. However, those children who attended educational institutions face-to-face will be able to switch to distance learning if their parents decide so.

On the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, the photo exhibition “Azov Regiment – Angels of Mariupol” opened on Sofia Square in Kyiv. It is dedicated to the defenders of Mariupol, who were killed during the heroic defense of the city. The exhibition was opened by the relatives of the fallen defenders.

Nine Ukrainian artists turned nine “used” armour plates from bulletproof vests into objects of art – the ArtArmor project was presented in Kyiv at the closed Maidan Nezalezhnosti metro station. On each armour plate there are traces of russian bullets that failed to penetrate the armour. Later, the works of art will be available for purchase at an auction, and the money will be used to purchase protective equipment for our defenders.

The Hryshko Botanical Garden in Kyiv announced the launch of the Heat for Greenhouses charity project. Funds are collected to save a unique collection of tropical plants, which had been created for decades. They plan to collect UAH 10 million for heating.

Zhytomyr oblast

In Zhytomyr, two tents will be purchased for heating the residents in case of emergency. UAH 300K hryvnias have been allocated for their purchase from the reserve fund of the budget of the city-territorial community.

The 95th military brigade received two Ukrainian-made Valkyrie attack drones. Volunteers of the Zhytomyr Humanitarian Hub, the Zhytomyr RMA and the city council handed over the aid.

The charity event called Collect Apples – Help the Armed Forces  was launched at the Polissia National University of Zhytomyr. They plan to harvest up to five tons of fruit, and transfer the proceeds from their sale to the needs of the Armed Forces. In addition, the participants of the action handed over 40 boxes of apples to the military, who are being treated in hospitals of Zhytomyr oblast.

Valentyna Vysotska, from Zhytomyr, cooks several hundred varenykys once a week for the soldiers at the front. The woman started helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the third day of the full-scale war.

Sumy oblast

Myropillia, Vorozhba, Znob-Novhorodske and Bilopillia communities of Sumy oblast came under enemy fire. According to the SBGS, the enemy inflicted damage with barrel artillery and mortars – more than 30 explosions rang out from shell bursts.

The russian army continues shelling the border areas. As reported in the Sumy RMA, the aggressor struck 10 artillery strikes on the territory of the Druzhba community. The SBGS reported that 4 mortar strikes were recorded in the area of ​​Budivelne settlement. There are no losses among personnel and equipment.

Dmytro Zhivytskyi, Head of the Sumy RMA said that the borders in Sumy oblast are reliably arranged, the necessary engineering facilities installed, and the first and second lines of defense ready. According to him, mobilized russian recruits are undergoing training at a distance of 100-150 km from the borders of the region, but no strike groups have been recorded.

The Sumy RMA reported that a truck driver hit a mine with the rear wheel in the Velika Pysarivka community. The car’s trailer was damaged due to the incident.

The Office of the President reported that the Cabinet of Ministers will allocate UAH 57 million for the restoration of Sumy oblast after the russian occupation. This money will make it possible to promptly carry out repairs of critically needed facilities.

An action organized by relatives of prisoners of war took place in the center of Sumy. The event aims to remind society, the state leadership and international humanitarian institutions about the fate of their loved ones. About 100 relatives of war prisoners from the entire oblast took part in the action.

Chernihiv oblast

The State Border Service reported that the enemy was firing mortars from the russian village of Lomakovka on the border territory of the Semenivka community. 4 explosions were recorded.

In Chernihiv, the heating season will begin on October 17 according to the order signed by Mayor of Chernihiv Vladyslav Atroshenko. Thermal energy will gradually be supplied to the city’s medical facilities, and from October 24 – to housing stock of all forms of ownership and management, and kindergartens, where there are conditions for the safe stay of children. 

Servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine received gifts from students, parents and teachers of the Ripky Lyceum. Schoolchildren prepared many drawings and letters, and together with adults collected warm things, hygiene products, sweets, tea, coffee, fruits, and homemade preserves for the soldiers.

The largest knitted flag of Ukraine was unfurled on the slope near Catherine’s Church in Chernihiv. Its length is 30 m 54 cm, and its width is 20 m 20 cm. About 350 women from Ukraine and abroad knitted the flag for four months.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Several regions of the oblast were subjected to enemy attacks at night, this resulting in one casualty. In the Mezhivska community, the Synelnykove region, an enterprise, a private house were damaged as a result of shelling. Two fires were extinguished by rescuers. One man born in 1971 was injured.

The Nikopol region was hit with heavy artillery and Hrads, the occupiers beat almost all night. Drones were targeting peaceful communities. No casualties are reported. 

In Pershotravneve, Chervonohryhorivka and Myrove communities, several private houses, gas pipelines and power grids were damaged.

According to the General Staff, the occupiers are hitting the Nikopol region from the side of the occupied Enerhodar, where there was an increase in the personnel of the russian occupation forces on the territory of the nuclear power plant. The enemy uses the station as a base to accommodate the military, because the object is not shelled.

Head of the DOR Mykola Lukashuk informs that over Nikopol and Dnipro regions at night, our air defence forces shot down 4 enemy kamikaze drones. 

Vinnytsia oblast

The Vinnytsia City Council informed that the educational institution, where internally displaced persons are currently  staying, received 4 tons of aid, including items of hygiene and comfort, from the International Organization for Migration.

Mayor of Vinnytsia, Serhii Morhunov, reported that he presented Vinnytsia at the German-Ukrainian conference of municipal partnerships, which gathered government officials, diplomats, and community representatives of both states in Augsburg. With the support of partner communities, Ukraine will quickly make its way as a candidate for the European community. German cities will be able to help restore the country according to European standards.

Kirovohrad oblast

Head of the Kirovohrad RMA Andrii Raikovich informed about another car from the RMA volunteer team was sent to the defenders.

Cherkasy oblast

Head of the Cherkasy State Administration Ihor Taburets reports that 2 special cars, 15  backpacks for combat medics with everything necessary, quadcopters, tablets and generators were handed over to the military.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Around 5am, the russian military launched another missile attack on Zaporizhzhia. The occupiers attacked Zaporizhzhia with three S-300 missiles. A fire broke out as a result of the shelling. Previously, there were no victims or injured.

The occupiers fired artillery and MLRS throughout the entire territory of the oblast. Most of the destruction was recorded towards Polohy and Zaporizhzhia. Residents of the Vasylivka region also suffered a fire attack.

Stepnohirsk, Kamianske, Mali Shcherbaky, Orihiv, Mala Tokmachka, Huliaipole, Dobropillia, Zaliznychne, Dorozhnianka, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Bilohiria, Chervone, Olhivske, Charivne, Temyrivka, Malynivka, Komyshuvakha, and Novotavricheske came under enemy fire. As a result of enemy shelling, residents of Huliaipole and Komyshuvakha were injured and taken to hospitals.

According to the General Staff report, on October 10-11 the number of the russian occupying forces personnel on the territory of the nuclear power plant in Enerhodar increased. According to the available information, the occupiers use the station as a base for the personnel deployment, since the object is not fired upon.

The enemy is intensifying occupation regime measures. At the checkpoints around Melitopol, FSB representatives and ordinary military personnel conduct thorough searches.

Employees of the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP are threatened with layoffs if they do not sign labour contracts with Rosatom. One of the employees told about this on condition of anonymity. The employee added that most employees refuse to sign new contracts.

Mykolaiv oblast

During the night, the enemy struck with multiple rocket launchers, barrel artillery and mortars. In the morning, the Bashtanka region was attacked with anti-aircraft missiles of the S-300 system. Several residential and commercial buildings were damaged. There are no casualties.

At night, the enemy attacked Mykolaiv oblast with Shahed-136 kamikaze strike drones. One drone hit the port infrastructure in the Mykolaiv region. There are no killed or injured.

The enemy launched an airstrike using a pair of Ka-52 “Alligator” helicopters on our units’ positions in the Mykolaiv region. No losses.

Tonight, the territory of the Bereznehuvate community was under enemy fire. Currently, it is known about the damage to the administrative building. Full information on damage and victims is being clarified. This is reported by the Police of Mykolaiv oblast.

As a result of shelling Mykolaiv on the night of October 13, eight people were killed: seven residents of the building and one rescuer who died at the shuttle station while on duty. The bodies of six people were unblocked from under the rubble. As of 2:30 p.m. on October 14, emergency and rescue work in the five-storey residential building was completed.

The press service of the Naval Forces of Ukraine reported that on October 14, units of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed an observation point of the russian army near Ochakiv. The observation post was located on the shore controlled by the russian troops. The Navy also destroyed two Shahed-136 strike drones.

Odesa oblast

At night, the enemy attacked Odesa with kamikaze drones of the Shahed-136 type. 6 drones were destroyed by our anti-aircraft soldiers.

Yesterday evening, the enemy attacked the territory of Ukraine from the waters of the Black Sea with Kalibr missiles. One of them, aimed at Odesa, was destroyed by our air defense forces.

The enemy fleet in the Black Sea includes 14 ships and boats maneuvering along the Crimean coast. There are 5 large amphibious ships and 3 cruise missile carriers with a total salvo of up to 15 Kalibr missiles

Residents of a house in Serhiivka, Odesa oblast, hit by a russian missile on July 1, received building materials for home repairs. Assistance is given to those who do not have alternative housing for the winter period and to those whose housing can be restored at low cost. 15 people received construction materials.

the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine reported that three ships with 84K tons of agricultural products left the three ports of Odesa oblast. They take grain to countries in Africa and Asia.

Kherson oblast

Towards the South Buh, the situation is complicated, but controlled.

The enemy actively uses unmanned scouts in order to determine the positions of our units for fire damage and correcting fire. During the night, aerial spies were recorded in the Bashtanka region, Mykolaiv oblast, and in Beryslav and Kherson regions, Kherson oblast.

The enemy occasionally uses sabotage-reconnaissance groups to determine our positions. This afternoon the enemy’s sabotage-reconnaissance group came to our observation post. As a result of the shooting battle, the enemy suffered losses. There were killed and wounded, The enemy retreated.

Enemy aviation  attacked our positions twice near Davydiv Brid using a helicopter and an attack aircraft. No losses.

Our aircraft hit 4 enemy air defense positions in Beryslav and Kakhovka regions, as well as 3 manpower, weapons and equipment buildups in Mykolaiv, Bashtanka, and Kherson districts.

Our missile and artillery units completed more than 190 fire missions. As a result, two Urahan MLRSs, 1 Hrad MLRS, 1 Solntsepiok heavy flamethrower system, electronic warfare stations, two 120-mm mortars, three tanks, and three command posts of the enemy of the 35th Army units were destroyed.

The Security Service of Ukraine discovered a complete stockpile of missile and artillery weapons of the russian army during stabilisation measures in the de-occupied territories in Kherson oblast. There were more than half a thousand artillery shells and ammunition units for Hrad and Urahan MLRSs, as well as more than a hundred anti-tank guided missiles and anti-tank mines. According to the investigation, a camouflaged warehouse with enemy ammunition was located in the premises of a cultural center of Velyka Oleksandrivka. The entire seized arsenal was transferred to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The russian military shot the conductor of the regional philharmonic in Kherson. The Kherson regional prosecutor’s office opened criminal proceedings on the fact of a war crime combined with intentional murder. According to the investigation, before that, the occupiers tried to persuade the man to cooperate with them by threating.

In Kochubeivka, Kherson oblast, the military together with local residents held an eco-action for the Day of Defenders. They planted paulownia seedlings. The initiator was Serhii Zherebylo, the commander of the “Arey” battalion of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army of the 129th brigade of the Territorial Defence Forces.

The restoration works continues in the de-occupied settlements of Kherson oblast. Thus, 500  water treatment filters and 9 tons of waterproofing materials were delivered to the Novovorontsovka community. More than 460 food kits were brought to the Vysokopillia community.

30 specialists and 8 vehicles were involved in energy supply restoration. Power engineers continue to work on the lines supplying Vysokopyllia, Novovorontsovka and Nova Kaluha. Broken wires were repaired, insulators replaced, and pillars fixed or replaced.

Volyn oblast

Head of the RMA, Yuriy Pohuliaiko, visited the Ukrainian defenders who are being treated in the oblast and congratulated the fighters on the Day of Defenders of Ukraine.

In Lutsk, on the occasion of the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, a ceremonial laying of flowers was held at the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred – Fallen for the Unity of Ukraine photo booth. A moment of silence was observed to honour the memory of the Heroes.

A diesel generator was delivered from Lutsk for the needs of the 4th separate tank brigade of the 1st artillery division. Now, the military can charge drones, various gadgets that help fight the enemy. Food and hygiene products were also sent to the servicemen.

In one of Lutsk’s medical facilities, free hairdressing services were provided to servicemen undergoing treatment. Two master hairdressers worked on a volunteer basis in hospital wards.

Zakarpattia oblast

The memory of those who died for Ukraine was commemorated in the regional center of Transcarpathia. Head of the RMA, Viktor Mykyta, laid flowers at the memorial to the fallen soldiers and the graves of the Heroes on the Hill of Glory in Uzhhorod.

8 special vehicles were handed over to the Zakarpattia military. Namely, pickup trucks for evacuating the wounded and transporting combat groups, SUVs, an armoured car for the command post, and buses for transporting goods.

Employees of the Uzhhorod City Council purchased a car for the Ukrainian military. They bought a vehicle, donating their one-day earnings. The car was transferred to the front line.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

In Ivano-Frankivsk, in the Memorial Square, a memorial service for all the fallen heroes for freedom and independence of Ukraine was held. Government representatives presented awards to Ukrainian heroes posthumously.

In the Solotvyn Territorial Community, a ceremonial opening of the unit of the local fire brigade was held. The firefighters of the Markiv team will serve three mountain settlements (Markova, Babche, Manyava villages) with a population of about 9K inhabitants.

Lviv oblast

On October 14, Ukraine celebrates the Defender of Ukraine Day and the 80th anniversary of creation of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. On this occasion, the leadership of the Lviv RMA honored the memory of the fallen Heroes of Ukraine. As part of the ceremony, flowers were laid on the graves on the Field of Mars, on the fields of honorary burials # 67 and # 76 of the Lychakiv cemetery.

The memory of fallen soldiers was commemorated in the Chervonohrad region. Flowers were laid at the graves of defenders who fought for the sovereignty of Ukraine. The largest flag of the Ukrainian insurgent army was unfurled in Sokal. In Radekhov, the patriotic event Ukraine is above all for us was held. In the Chervonograd community, the Ukrainian soldiers were commemorated at the monument to Stepan Bandera.

As part of the campaign To Brave and Invincible Defenders, which was organized by the Department of Communication and Internal Policy of Lviv oblast, the soldiers of brigades from Lviv oblast received state flags with wishes and warm words from grateful residents of all districts of the region. Doctors, teachers, students, athletes, clergy and caring residents from every region of the oblast participated in the action.

Another UAH 27.9 million was allocated from the regional budget for the arrangement and repair of housing for IDPs. A total of UAH 149.5 million has been transferred from the planned UAH 279 million for the implementation of 53 projects in 35 institutions.

Two fully equipped ambulance vehicles were sent to medical institutions of Lviv oblast. The Lviv Regional Hospital for War Veterans and the Repressed and the Lviv Regional Clinical Perinatal Center received the machines.

Thanks to the taxes of the citizens, the Lviv City Hall sent 655 sets of winter uniforms to the 125th Lviv Territorial Defense Brigade. The set includes two pairs of winter pants and two jackets.

Roman Havryliuk’s son, eight-year-old Adam, was handed the keys and documents for the ownership of an apartment. Roman Havryliuk died on June 17, 2022, near the city of Pryvillia, Luhansk oblast, as a result of mortar shelling.

Ambassador of Austria to Ukraine Arad Benkyo visited the Lviv Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital OHMATDYT. The ambassador handed over medical equipment to the hospital from his Austrian colleagues from the hospital of the Austrian city of Eisenstadt and the CF Barmherzigkeit.

Students of the Ukrainian Academy of Leadership launched the Heroes Among Us campaign on social networks. This is a marathon of stories where young people tell about heroes/heroines from their close circle who stood up for the defense of the country.

A 30-meter-long mural The Road Home was opened in Lviv. The mural depicts a number of locations and objects damaged or destroyed in Mariupol as a result of the full-scale russian invasion.

Rivne oblast

Head of the Rivne RMA, Vitalii Koval, announced that the curfew in Rivne oblast has been changed. It will last from midnight to 5am. This decision was taken by the Defense Council of the oblast. It comes into effect on October 17.

In Rivne, they began to connect powerful generators to substations and find out how many apartments can be provided with electricity and heat in case of emergency. “The result has exceeded our expectations,” said Mayor Oleksandr Tretiak.

Rebel soldiers were honoured at the site of the first General Command headquarters of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. Those present laid flowers at the foot of the memorial and bowed their heads during a moment of silence for the fallen rebels, Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and compatriots who died during the russian-Ukrainian war.

A memorial plaque to a fallen countryman was opened in the Horodotsk community. Roman Nepevnyi fell on March 14, 2022, as a result of an airstrike on a television tower in the village of Antopol. He was buried in the village of Karaevychi of the Horodotsk village council.

Head of the Rivne RMA, Vitalii Koval, visited the soldiers who are being treated at the Rivne Military Hospital. They were congratulated on the occasion of the holidays and wished a speedy recovery.

The Main Department of the State Emergency Service in Rivne oblast reported that Patron the dog as a forged monument was installed in Dubna. The rescuers of the Dubensky Garrison of the State Emergency Service presented a self-made forged metal bench, made in the fire-rescue style.

Ternopil oblast

Head of the Ternopil RMA, Volodymyr Trush, met with military personnel who are undergoing rehabilitation in hospitals of Ternopil oblast. Head of the RMA talked with the defenders, wished them a speedy recovery and left some goodies.

Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Ternopil RMA, Olha Khoma, said that from October 17, training in educational institutions of Ternopil oblast will resume.

In Ternopil, the charity stamp Glory to the Armed Forces of Ukraine was stamped. Part of the funds collected from its sale will be directed to help the Ukrainian military. The circulation of the stamp sheet is 1 million copies.

Released from captivity, Mykhailo Dianov, native of Ternopil oblast, donated over UAH 23 million for the treatment of his brothers. The defender wrote that he planned to use this money for his treatment. However, the expenses for Mykhailo’s treatment, paperwork and finding doctors were compensated by the Shakhtar football club.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

In Khmelnytskyi oblast, leaders of the oblast and law enforcement agencies, servicemen, veterans, volunteers and the public of the city honoured the defenders of Ukraine of all generations by laying flowers at the Stela of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and participants of the russian-Ukrainian war.

Chernivtsi oblast

In Chernivtsi, the memory of defenders who were killed in the struggle for Ukraine’s independence was commemorated. Representatives of the RMA, the military and caring locals laid flowers at the graves of Bukovyna Heroes at the Central Cemetery.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe became the first international organization to declare russia a terrorist state.

President of the World Bank, David Malpas, said that the Bank will provide Ukraine with another $530 million by the end of October.

Minister of Defense, Oleksiy Reznikov, announced that the US will hand over the first NASAMS complexes to Ukraine by the end of this month.

NATO Secretary General, Stoltenberg, stated that NATO will soon hand over a hundred drone jamming stations to Ukraine, which will help render russian- and Iranian-made drones ineffective.

Spain plans to provide Ukraine with four Hawk air defense systems.

Minister of Defense of Portugal, Elena Carreiras, stated that Portugal decided to transfer six soviet-made Kamov helicopters to Ukraine.

The Norwegian government announced that they will purchase 122 mm and 152 mm ammunition for Ukraine. It was emphasized that the allocated 20 million dollars will allow to buy ammunition for artillery systems. The funds will cover the supply of 17K 122 mm and 152 mm calibre ammunition.

Minister of Internal Trade and Development of Cooperation, Lisha Schreinemacher, stated that the Netherlands will help Ukraine with heating by allocating €70 million.

Along with other countries, Canada signed the first guarantee for EUR 36.5 billion to support the EBRD loan to Naftogaz for EUR 300 million and support the critical purchase of gas.

Britain provides a guarantee of EUR 54.4 million for the EBRD loan to Ukrenerho, which will help guarantee safe operation of the Ukrainian energy system.

Minister of Defense of Lithuania, Arvydas Anusauskas, announced that Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled guns repaired in Lithuania are returning to Ukraine.

Head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, stated that if russia carries out a nuclear attack on Ukraine, it will receive such a powerful military response from the West that the russian army will be completely destroyed.

An Alley of Victims of russian Aggression will appear in Warsaw next to the russian embassy.
