War in Ukraine today: latest news, 30 Desember 2025 (photo)

It has been the 1406  th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:   

Since the beginning of the day, there have been 63 combat engagements along the entire front line.

The enemy fired artillery from russian territory at the areas of the settlements of Bleshnia, Yasna Poliana, Yanzhulivka, and Kostobobriv in Chernihiv oblast; Rohizne, Volfyne, Gudove, Iskryskivshchyna, Bobylivka, and Stiahailivka in Sumy oblast.

Towards North Slobozhanske and Kursk, the enemy has carried out two air strikes, dropped five guided bombs, and carried out 37 attacks on the positions of our troops and populated areas, including two with multiple launch rocket systems.

Towards South Slobozhanske, the enemy attacked the positions of the Defence Forces five times today near the settlements of Vovchansk, Starytsia and in the direction of Izbytskyi and Lyman, with two combat engagements ongoing.

Towards Kupiansk, our defenders repelled one enemy offensive in the direction of the settlement of Bohuslavka.

Towards Lyman, the aggressor attacked five times today in the areas of the settlements of Zarichne, Yampil, and in the direction of Novoserhiivka and Druzhliubivka. Three combat engagements are currently ongoing.

Towards Sloviansk, our defenders repelled two attempts to advance in Dronivka and in the direction of Platonivka. One battle is currently ongoing.

Towards Kramatorsk, no enemy offensive actions have been recorded at this time.

Towards Kostiantynivka, the enemy attacked the positions of our troops in the areas of Oleksandro-Shultyne, Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, and in the direction of Kostiantynivka, Stepanivka, Novopavlivka, and Sofiivka. The defence forces repelled nine enemy attacks, and two more combat clashes are still ongoing.

Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy attacked the positions of our defenders 20 times today in the areas of the settlements of Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Rivne, Pokrovsk, Udachne, Molodetsk, Filiia, and in the direction of the settlements of Sukhetske, Hryshyne, and Novopavlivka. Fighting continues in five locations.

Towards Oleksandrivka, our defenders repelled six enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Yalta, Sichneve, Vyshneve, Pryvillia, Zlahoda and in the direction of Danylivka. Two combat engagements are currently ongoing. Velykomykhailivka was subjected to an air strike.

Eleven combat clashes were recorded towards Huliaipole. The occupiers advanced in the areas of the settlements of Solodke, Huliaipole and towards Varvarivka, with fighting continuing in five locations.

Towards Orikhiv, the enemy has not carried out any offensive actions since the beginning of the day, but has struck the settlements of Orikhiv and Zaporizhzhia with KABs.

Towards Kherson, two attempts to approach the positions of our units in the area of the Antonivskyi Bridge ended in failure for the invaders.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Yesterday151 combat clashes were recorded.

Towards South Slobozhanske, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 12 attacks near Vovchanski Khutory, Vovchansk, Starytsia, Prylipka, and in the direction of the settlements of Izbytske and Kolodiazne.

Yesterday, there were five attacks by the invaders towards Kupiansk. Our defenders repelled enemy assaults near the settlement of Pishchane and towards Petropavlivka.

Yesterday one settlement was hit by enemy strikes.

A 54-year-old man was injured as a result of shelling in the village of Prokopivka, Kupiansk community.

Medical workers also provided assistance to a 61-year-old woman who was injured on 22 December as a result of shelling in Kindrashivka.

The enemy used one FPV drone in Kharkiv oblast.

A car was damaged in Prokopivka village, Kupiansk region.

The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 99 people during the day. Thirty-nine people remained. A total of 15,994 people have been registered at the point since it began operating.

In Kharkiv, people bid farewell to 31-year-old police officer Denys Zhukov, who was killed on 24 December during a combat mission in Kupiansk axis. His body was evacuated two days later.

Donetsk oblast

President Zelenskyy stated that 87% of Ukrainians support peace, while 85% oppose withdrawal from Donbas. This was his response to the figures announced by Trump during their meeting in Florida. This was reported in an excerpt from an interview published by Fox News.

According to a report by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, towards Pokrovsk, the russian army carried out 43 assaults during the day. Fighting was reported near Pankivka, Krasnyi Lyman, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, and Molodetsk.

The Defence Forces also repelled more than 10 battles in the Lyman, Kostyantynivka and Oleksandrivka areas.

Ukrainian troops were forced to leave Siversk because the occupiers had concentrated a significant number of fibre-optic drones, some with a range of more than 20km. As a result, the Defence Forces were forced to withdraw their UAV units, leaving the infantry positions without cover.

One person was killed and four were wounded as a result of russian shelling in Donetsk oblast.

On 29 December, the police recorded 1,477 enemy strikes on the front line and residential areas.

Nine settlements were under fire: Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Lyman, Mykolaivka, Sloviansk, Hannivka, Lydyne, and Yatsivka.

The russians struck Druzhkivka with five FPV drones, killing one civilian and injuring another. An apartment building, a private house, non-residential premises, and three civilian vehicles were damaged.

The russian army dropped four KAB-250 bombs on Sloviansk, injuring one person and damaging 26 private houses, three shops, five shopping pavilions, two industrial boxes, an office building, a sanatorium, an administrative building, and a civilian vehicle.

According to the State Emergency Service in Donetsk oblast, as a result of an air strike by russian occupiers on Sloviansk, a woman was trapped under the rubble of a private house. She was rescued by emergency services and police and handed over to medics. 

One person was injured in Lyman and another in Hannivka, Pokrovsk region, as a result of enemy FPV drone strikes.

In Kramatorsk, a Molniya-2 UAV damaged a private house.

Russian troops attacked Mykolaivka with a KAB-250 bomb and an FPV drone, destroying nine apartment buildings and a tractor.

Yevhen Tkachov, a representative of the Proliska humanitarian mission in the oblast, reported that the evacuation from Donetsk oblast slowed down on the eve of the New Year holidays. Despite the shelling and the approaching front line, people are asking to postpone their departure “until after the holidays”. According to the evacuation worker, requests to leave Sloviansk, Kramatorsk and Mykolaivka have become more frequent.

Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets reported that russian troops probably shot seven people in Pokrovsk. Two civilians, a father and son, approached the occupiers, who demanded alcohol from them. When they replied that they had no alcohol, the occupiers opened fire and killed the father and son. The family was hiding in one of the basements in the city when two Russian soldiers arrived. One of the wounded managed to survive by pretending to be dead.

 

Luhansk oblast

Three settlements came under enemy fire yesterday. In the Hrekivka area, the russians fired mortars twice, used FPV drones three times, and carried out 21 strikes with UAVs. Near Novoiehorivka, four attacks with anti-tank grenade launchers, the use of an FPV drone, and drops were recorded. Near Nadiia, there were three mortar strikes and five hits by FPV drones.

The so-called “lpr” has shortened the deadline for mandatory property registration: instead of 1 January 2028, the new deadline is 1 July 2026. Thus, instead of two years, people have only six months left.

There is a shortage of sports personnel in Siverskodonetsk: the occupation administration plans to search for 19 coaches for youth sports schools in the regions of the russian Federation, promising incentive payments. The key requirement is to have a russian education in the field.

 

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

In the Solomianskyi district of the capital, all 110 damaged roofs of residential buildings affected by enemy shelling have been restored, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported.

In the Brovary community, the gradual restoration of power supply has begun. Electricity is planned to be supplied on a 5/5-hour schedule, Mayor Ihor Sapozhko said.

In Vyshhorod, there has been no electricity for the fourth day following a massive Russian attack. The shelling damaged an energy infrastructure facility. At present, it is impossible to restore power to consumers using backup schemes, DTEK Kyiv Regional Power Grids reported on the morning of December 30. Emergency responders worked throughout the night without rest to support residents and ensure the operation of Points of Invincibility and high-capacity generators. As of 8:00 a.m., 11 tents have been deployed in Vyshhorod, and an additional 14 generators have been put into operation, supplying heating systems in 22 apartment buildings.

In the Kyiv region, in Piskivka, a two-story multi-apartment residential building for 10 families is being constructed. The previous building was destroyed by Russian forces during the full-scale invasion. Currently, façade works are underway, along with the installation of water supply, sewage, and heating systems. This was reported by the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine.

Ahead of the New Year, representatives of the Kyiv City Military Administration presented certificates of appreciation to volunteers of the charitable foundation “Field Kitchen B-50.” The humanitarian project has been operating since the first days of the full-scale invasion. The foundation’s volunteers provide hot meals daily to Ukrainians affected by shelling, as well as to people in difficult life circumstances. After each attack on the capital, the team promptly deploys field kitchens directly at the affected locations.

A special interactive installation has been launched in the capital — a heart encased in a block of ice. The art object is installed on Sofiyska Square, near the country’s main Christmas tree, and will be on display throughout the Christmas and New Year holidays until January 6, 2026. The project aims to remind people of the importance of emotional support and human warmth in times of war.

Zhytomyr oblast

In Zhytomyr, the City Council reminded residents of the ban on the use of pyrotechnics during martial law and also reported that the curfew on the night of December 31 to January 1 will remain unchanged.

“Zhytomyrteplokomunenerho” and “Zhytomyrvodokanal” will operate around the clock during the New Year holidays, the utilities reported. In case of emergencies, residents can contact dispatch services to call repair crews. For the holiday period, specialized equipment and materials have been prepared to eliminate possible network damage or power outages, and on-duty and emergency teams have been fully staffed.

On the first day of the New Year, all interested residents of the Zhytomyr community are invited to take part in the “First Charity Run of 2026,” “Run Ra3om,” which will take place in the Hydropark. Donations collected during the sporting event will be used to purchase portable drone detectors for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the City Department for Family, Youth, and Sports Affairs reported.

Sumy oblast

Border guards of the “Steel Border” Brigade on the Kursk direction destroyed a Russian artillery gun, a mortar, enemy shelters, and an infantry fighting vehicle of the Russian Federation. This was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

The settlement of Khotin remains under the control of Ukrainian forces despite claims by Russia, according to the Kursk Operational Group. Fighting continues in Sumy region near the settlements of Yunakivka, Andriivka, Yablunivka, Varachyne, and Kindrativka. Russian troops continue attempts to seize more Ukrainian territory to create a so-called “buffer zone.”

A resident of Sumy region was wounded as a result of an enemy FPV drone strike. The incident occurred on December 30 in neighboring Chernihiv region. A Russian drone attacked a civilian vehicle delivering bread to local residents. The 47-year-old man has been hospitalized and is receiving the necessary medical care.

In the Bezdrik community, a 60-year-old man was wounded as a result of the explosion of a guided aerial bomb. He is currently in hospital, reported Oleh Hryhorov, Head of the Regional Military Administration. On December 29, the army attacked the community with two guided aerial bombs (KABs). Residential buildings were damaged, and efforts to eliminate the consequences of the strike are ongoing.

Over the past day, from the morning of December 29 to the morning of December 30, Russian forces carried out nearly 50 shelling attacks on 23 settlements in 13 territorial communities of the region. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka districts. The enemy used artillery, FPV drones, guided aerial bombs, and UAVs. During the day, air raid alerts in the region lasted for 10 hours and 31 minutes.

Civilian infrastructure was damaged or destroyed:

– in the Sumy community, non-residential and administrative buildings, as well as a cargo truck, were damaged;
– in the Bezdrik community, private residential houses were damaged;
– in the Shostka community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
– in the Esman community, a private residential house was destroyed;
– in the Znob-Novhorodske community, a shop was destroyed;
– in the Seredyna-Buda community, a private residential house was damaged and civilian infrastructure facilities were destroyed.

Over the past day, local authorities together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and civil society organizations evacuated 44 people from border communities.

Chernihiv oblast

 

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Nikopol region. During the night, the enemy struck Nikopol city by a drone.

Synelnykove region. The occupiers attacked Vasylkivka community by UAVs. A 67-year-old woman was injured. A private house caught fire.

Air defence forces destroyed 3 enemy UAVs.

Nikopol region. The enemy attacked the regional centre, Pokrovske, Marhanetsk and Myrove communities by drones and artillery. 2 private houses, an outbuilding, a shop and a power line were damaged.

Vinnytsia oblast

The team of the Interregional Coordination Humanitarian Headquarters handed over unmanned aerial systems and Matrice quadcopters to National Guard units. The transfer of specialised equipment was carried out within the framework of the Security and Defence priority, for which more than UAH 1 billion has been allocated in the community budget this year. The equipment enhances the capabilities of the National Guard of Ukraine unit in reconnaissance, fire adjustment, target engagement and countering enemy drones. This marks the 16th instance of assistance provided to this Vinnytsia-based unit, which is currently performing combat missions on various front-line directions.

Kirovohrad oblast

Vladyslav Mykhailov from Sofiivka village was killed. This occurred on 23 December while he was performing his service duties near Osynove village, Kupiansk region, Kharkiv oblast.

Poltava oblast

In Poltava oblast, memorial ceremonies will be held for 3 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: Mykola Krupa from Reshetylivka region, Valentyn Kurbanhulov from Zinkivska community and Yurii Tesliuk from Kremenchuk.

Mykola Krupa had been considered missing in action since October 2023. The defender was killed on 22 October 2023, in Donetsk oblast.

Yurii Tesliuk was killed on 1 September 2024, while carrying out a combat mission.

Valentyn Kurbangulov was killed on 11 December 2025, during combat operations.

In Poltava, a memorial ceremony was held for Arkadii Sopilka, Servicemen of Armed Forces of Ukraine , who was killed on 13 September 2024, while performing a combat mission in Luhansk oblast.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of the Regional Military Administration, reported that in Uman, a russian missile was destroyed.

In Cherkasy, memorial ceremonies were held for 2 servicemen: Oleksii Sydorenko and Vasyl Zhyhal.

Oleksii Sydorenko was killed on 20 October 2024, while carrying out a combat mission on kursk region.

Vasyl Zhyhal was killed on 25 August 2025, in Donetsk oblast.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

At around 6:00 p.m., the Russian army once again attacked Zaporizhzhia. Preliminary reports indicate damage on the территории of an industrial infrastructure facility, said Ivan Fedorov, Head of the Regional Military Administration.

A 61-year-old man was killed as a result of a Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia district, Ivan Fedorov reported. Russian forces struck a car with an FPV drone while it was traveling along a road in Veselianka. The vehicle was damaged, and the driver died at the scene.

As a result of a strike by a Russian drone, a fire broke out in a non-residential building. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties, Ivan Fedorov said.

The Russian army carried out another strike on Zaporizhzhia. An industrial infrastructure facility was damaged, Ivan Fedorov reported. The blast wave damaged private houses near the impact site, and a fire broke out. A 43-year-old woman sought medical assistance; according to a preliminary diagnosis, she sustained shrapnel wounds.

Over the past day, December 29, Ukraine’s Defense Forces repelled 40 Russian attacks in the Orikhiv, Huliaipole, and Oleksandrivske directions, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported. In particular, combat engagements took place in the areas of Huliaipole, Solodke, Bilohiria, and near Shcherbaky, Stepove, and Rybne in Zaporizhzhia region.

Over the past day, December 29, the Russian army carried out more than 600 strikes on 25 towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia region. As a result of the shelling, one person was killed and five were wounded. Residential buildings, outbuildings, vehicles, and infrastructure facilities were damaged. A 46-year-old man was killed, and women aged 43, 49, 61, 87, and 91 were injured as a result of Russian attacks on Zaporizhzhia city, Zaporizhzhia district, and Polohy district, Ivan Fedorov reported.

Mykolaiv oblast

No shelling was recorded in Mykolaiv region over the past day, the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reported.

Odesa oblast

As a result of daytime Russian attacks on Odesa district, a 48-year-old man was injured and hospitalized, the Prosecutor’s Office reported. Drone strikes on Odesa region are being investigated as war crimes.

In the evening, the Russian army carried out a repeated strike on port infrastructure in Odesa region. As a result of a drone hit, oil tanks caught fire on the territory of one of the port enterprises. No casualties were reported, said Oleh Kiper, Head of the Regional Military Administration.

The Russian army attacked the vessels Emmakris III and Captain Karam with drones while the latter was entering the port to load wheat. Civilians were injured, the Ukrainian Navy reported.

In the morning, Russia attacked port infrastructure in Odesa region, the Regional Military Administration reported. Facilities in the ports of Pivdennyi and Chornomorsk were damaged. One person was injured. As a result of strikes on an industrial enterprise, empty oil storage tanks were damaged. A civilian grain vessel flying the Panamanian flag that was located in the port area was also damaged.

Kherson oblast

This morning, air raid alerts were triggered in various districts of Kherson region due to the presence of drones in the airspace, but no casualties or damage have been reported so far, the Regional Military Administration said.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

The UNITED WE STAND volunteer center reported that Students of Horokhiv College raised over UAH 12,000 for defenders at Christmas.

Zakarpattia oblast

In the oblast, over 13,500 cases were reviewed in the 1st year of operation of the new system for assessing daily functioning of individuals. Instead of the liquidated MSECs, 53 expert teams of 315 practicing physicians are working in 11 medical institutions of the oblast.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Coffee painting art therapy was held at the Veteran PRO regional veteran space. Wives and mothers of Defenders, those who were killed and those who went missing, as well as military personnel joined the class.

Lviv oblast

A presentation of the poetry collection Echo of War by an active-duty serviceman was held in the Youth Space in Drohobych. During the presentation, UAH 21,100 were collected for the needs of the 6th Battalion of the 103rd Separate Territorial Defense Brigade named after Andrii Sheptytsky.

A charity concert of the Christmas Carol New Story of Christmas was held, which raised almost UAH 4,000. The funds were added to the current collection for the purchase of a car for the Heavenly Dream unit.

Rivne oblast

2 Defenders from Rivne oblast received cash certificates for the purchase of apartments. Certificates were presented during a meeting within the framework of the Dialogue Between Government And Business platform.

Ternopil oblast

3 electronic warfare systems REBTER were sent to the 67th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is currently performing combat missions in Dnipropetrovsk oblast. The systems were purchased with funds from the regional budget. In total, about 160m from the regional budget was allocated to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2025.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

In 2025, about 2,000 military personnel and veterans received material assistance from Khmelnytskyi community budget for rehabilitation in the amount of over UAH 30m. About 8,000 active military personnel received material assistance for their own needs in the amount of almost UAH 80m.

Chernivtsi oblast

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, awarded soldiers who were killed in battles for Ukraine. Junior Sergeant Mykola Onyshchuk was awarded with the III degree For Courage Order (posthumously).

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Antonio Costa, European Council President, announced that the EU has decided to provide Ukraine with €90bn in aid in 2026–2027.

Lithuania has extended the ban on the transit of dual-use goods to russia until 2027.
