War in Ukraine today: latest news, 29 September 2025 (photo)

It has been the 1314  th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression.

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:

Since the beginning of the day, the total number of combat engagements along the entire frontline has reached 75.
The invaders continue striking border settlements. The village of Zarichne in the Sumy region was affected by enemy artillery fire.

In the Northern-Slobozhansky and Kursk sectors, 13 combat clashes have taken place since the start of the day, three of which are still ongoing. In addition, the enemy carried out three airstrikes, dropping four guided aerial bombs, and launched 69 attacks on our troops’ positions and settlements, including five with multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).

In the Southern-Slobozhansky sector, an enemy attack continues near the settlement of Vovchansk.

In the Lyman sector, the aggressor attacked six times today in the areas of Hrekivka, Novomykhailivka, Drobysheve, Shandryholove, and Torske. Five clashes are still ongoing.

In the Siversk sector, our defenders are repelling the enemy’s attempt to advance towards the settlement of Yampil.

In the Toretsk sector, the enemy attacked our troops’ positions in the areas of Ivanopillia, Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar, and Poltavka. The Defense Forces successfully repelled all ten enemy assaults.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the enemy carried out 19 attacks today on our defenders’ positions in the areas of Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Novoekonomichne, Lysivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Novopavlivka, and Dachne. Fighting continues in two locations.

In the Novopavlivka sector, our defenders repelled five enemy attacks in the areas of Hrushivske, Oleksiivka, Zaporizke, Berezove, Novomykolaivka, and towards Novopavlivka and Novohryhorivka. Four combat clashes are still ongoing.

In the Huliaipole sector, one combat clash was recorded near Poltavka. The settlements of Novopavlivka and Zaliznychne suffered airstrikes.

In the Orikhiv, Kramatorsk, and Kupiansk sectors, the enemy has not carried out offensive actions since the beginning of the day.

In the Prydniprovske sector, Ukrainian units repelled three enemy assaults. Enemy aircraft struck near the settlement of Odradokamianka.

At the current pace, demining Ukraine would take 83 years. The existing humanitarian demining system is fragmented, insufficiently effective, and does not correspond to the scale of the mine threat. Shortcomings in planning, the absence of a unified procedure for developing plans, monitoring, and reporting, as well as weak coordination between institutions, cause delays in work and hinder the return of agricultural land to use. Without structural reform, complete clearance could stretch for decades, jeopardizing food security and economic recovery, according to the Accounting Chamber.

Medics of the “Liut” (Fury) brigade carried out the first ultra-fast evacuation of a wounded soldier in Ukraine. According to the medics, the evacuation from the moment of injury to a safe operating room at the Lviv-based Superhumans Center took 20 hours — a record time, as previously such evacuations could take up to 72 hours.

The fighter from the “Khizhak” (Predator) Patrol Police unit suffered severe injuries due to an FPV drone strike: instant amputation and massive bleeding. The wounded man was transported across the entire country — from Donetsk region to Lviv region — directly to the Superhumans Center, where he will receive highly specialized medical care and modern prosthetics. This was reported by the medical service “Shield of Life” of the “Liut” brigade.
