War in Ukraine today: latest news, 1 November 2025 (photo)

It has been the 1347th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:   

On November 1, there were 94 combat engagements.

The enemy shelled the border settlements of Khodyne, Bobylivka, Bila Bereza, Starykove, Studenok, Brusky and Buniakyne in the Sumy oblast with artillery.

Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, there were four combat engagements. In addition, the enemy launched three airstrikes, dropping nine guided bombs, and carried out 106 shelling attacks, including seven from multiple launch rocket systems. Ukrainian defenders carried out successful search and attack operations, took up positions and advanced up to 200 meters in certain areas.

Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy launched seven attacks near Vovchansk and Kamianka, as well as in the direction of Dvorichanske and Kolodiazne. 

No offensive actions by the enemy were recorded towards Kupiansk.

Towards Lyman, the aggressor launched four assaults near Korovii Yar, Zarichne and Stavky. Two battles are still ongoing. 

Towards Sloviansk, Ukrainian troops repelled three enemy attempts to advance near Yampil, Dronivka, Serebrianka, Pereizne and Fedorivka. Two more battles are still ongoing. 

No offensive actions by the enemy were recorded towards Kramatorsk.

Towards Kostiantynivka, the enemy attacked positions of Ukrainian units near Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleshchiivka, Rusynyi Yar and Sofiivka, as well as in the direction of Kostiantynivka and Berestok. The Defence Forces repelled ten enemy attacks, and one more battle is still ongoing. 

Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy launched 29 attacks near Shakhove, Myrnohrad, Chervonyi Lyman, Rodynske, Novoekonomichne, Mykolaivka, Kozatske, Lysivka, Sukhyi Yar, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Molodetske, Filiia and Dachne, as well as in the direction of Pokrovsk and Hryshyne. Battles are still ongoing in seven locations. The Defence Forces are effectively implementing counter-sabotage in the Pokrovsk area; enemy losses are being clarified.

Towards Oleksandrivka, Ukrainian troops repelled 12 enemy attacks near Zelenyi Hai, Sichneve, Ternove, Verbove, Oleksiivka, Pavlivka and Rybne, as well as in the direction of Danylivka. Two more battles are still ongoing. 

Towards Huliaipole, there was one combat engagement near Novomykolaivka. In addition, the enemy launched airstrikes on Huliaipole, Nechaivka and Malynivka. 

Towards Orikhiv, Ukrainian troops repelled one enemy attack near Shcherbaky, and one more battle is still ongoing near Kamianske. 

Towards Kherson, Ukrainian troops repelled one enemy attack near  the Antonivka Road Bridge. The enemy launched airstrikes on the settlement of Olhivka.

No signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups have been detected towards Volyn and Polissia.

Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal says that more than 720 thousand deferrals were extended automatically without additional human intervention. He also noted that more than 80% of applications are submitted through the Reserve+ application, without certificates and personal visits.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed to form a “winter support” package by November 15. This package should come into effect in December.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Frontline

On 1 November, there were 157 combat clashes.

Towards Southern Sloboda, Ukrainian soldiers repelled five attacks near Vovchansk and in the vicinity of Vovchanski Khutory, Dvorichanske and Kolodiazne.

Towards Kupiansk, there were 11 attacks by invaders. Ukrainian defenders repelled enemy assault actions near Petropavlivka, Pishchane and towards Novoplatonivka, Novoosynove.

Shelling

4 settlements in the Kharkiv region were subjected to enemy attacks.

Medics provided assistance to a 61-year-old man who was injured as a result of shelling in the village of Tyschenkivka, Kindrashivka community on October 26, and a 50-year-old woman who was injured as a result of shelling in the village of Kurylivka on October 30.

The enemy actively used various types of weapons:

▪️2 GABs;

▪️5 UAVs of the Geran-2 type;

▪️1 FPV drone;

▪️2 UAVs (type to be determined).

Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:

▪️In Izium region, a private house was damaged (village Borova);

▪️In Lozova region, the glazing of the windows of an educational institution (village Samiilivka), railway infrastructure (city of Lozova) were damaged.

In October, Kharkiv and the oblast paid tribute to 75 defenders who gave their lives for the independence of Ukraine.

The transit evacuation point in Lozova accepted 206 people. 38 people remained. A total of 10,206 people have been registered at the Point since the start of work.

Donetsk oblast

The commander of the platoon of the Dovbush Hornet Unmanned Systems Battalion of the 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade informs that russians have sent up to 12,000 fighters to capture Pokrovsk, including GRU special forces and units of the 51st Combined Arms Army. They are trying to break through to Pokrovsk in small groups, using FPV drones and disguising themselves as civilians. Ukrainian forces are holding their ground.

The Defense Forces confirm that in Pokrovsk, special forces and GUR aviation have launched a complex landing operation. According to a source, military intelligence attack aircraft have entered areas of the city that russian generals have declared “captured” and consider strategically important for Ukrainian logistics.

Vitalii, a soldier of the 93rd separate mechanized brigade Kholodny Yar says that towards Kostiantynivka, the intensity of fighting and assaults using equipment has become less in recent days. The russian military suffered losses and changed tactics, now they are trying to move on foot, in small groups. The task of the russian occupiers, the soldier says, is to disrupt the logistics of the defense forces.

The General Staff said that the russian military attacked 48 times towards Pokrovsk. Ukrainian defenders stopped assaults near the settlements of Nykanorivka, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Mirnohrad, Novoekonomichne, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Dachne, Lysivka, Novopavlivka, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Novoukrainka and Hryshyne.

Another 18 assaults were carried out towards Oleksandrivka, 13 towards Kostiantynivka and 11 towards Slaviansk.

Anastasia Medvedeva, Spokeswoman for the regional prosecutor’s office, informs that at 9:45 on November 1, the russian military dropped another air bomb on Kostiantynivka – a 42-year-old local resident received non-life-threatening injuries. As a result of the morning strike, 7 private homes were damaged.

Vadym Liakh, Head of the RMA, says that on the night of November 1, the russian military attacked Sloviansk with drones. According to him, there were no injuries, there was damage in the private sector.

On October 31, theere were 1,924 enemy strikes on the front line and residential sector. 7 settlements were under fire: Bilozersk, Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, Sloviansk,Hannivka, Hryshyne, and Zolotyi Kolodiaz. 3 civilian objects were destroyed, 2 of them residential buildings.

Kramatorsk was attacked by russians with an FPV drone, injuring two civilians.

In Sloviansk, a private house was damaged by a Geran-2 UAV.

In Druzhkivka, the occupiers hit an FPV drone, damaging a private home.

As a result of the Geran-2 drone strikes, an administrative building was damaged in Belozersk, and a private house was damaged in Hannivka, Pokrovsk region.

 Serhii Horbunov, Head of the Military Administration, says that it became known about a person killed and three wounded in Kostiantynivka as a result of an airstrike by the russian army on the city on October 30.

In the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk Oblast, russian military corps are holding meetings with college students, urging them to sign a contract with the russian army. Yellow Ribbon activists report propaganda among minors in Mariupol and Donetsk.

Petro Andriuschenko, Head of the Center for the Study of Occupation, says that Pavlopillia reservoir, from which the occupiers decided to transfer water to supply temporarily occupied Mariupol, has begun to leak.

Luhansk oblast

The invaders made 21 attempts to advance towards Lyman and Slaviansk. They attacked in the vicinity of 11 settlements, looking for weak points in the defense of the Ukrainian troops. In our zone of responsibility, the enemy brought in artillery in four cases and used unmanned aerial vehicles.

In the so-called lpr, mobile operators require verification of each consumer. Otherwise, they threaten to block the communication service. You can complete the procedure by November 30. The restrictions will come into effect on December 1. A mandatory condition is the presence of a russian passport. They strongly recommend using the appropriate online service, as they say that service centers will not be able to accept a large number of people in a limited period of time. However, there is no Internet in a significant part of the region. In addition, the online procedure will become an obstacle for tens of thousands of elderly people, who in any case will have to stand in a “live queue”.

In Siversko-Ddonetsk, only one notary continues to provide services. Hundreds of townspeople gather at the reception point every time, hoping to finally get to a specialist. Some of them have been trying to resolve inheritance issues for three years. The city’s occupation authorities have decided not to interfere in this situation.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

According to Kyiv City Military Administration, during this week, six air raid alerts were sounded in the capital, lasting a total of nine hours. As a result of a massive enemy attack on the night of October 25, two people were killed and 18 injured; residential and non-residential buildings on the left bank of Kyiv sustained damage. During another enemy strike on the night of October 26, three people were killed, 41 injured, and residential buildings in two districts damaged.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, more than 22,000 Kyiv residents have received financial assistance for damaged housing. In total, over 260 million UAH has been paid out under the city’s “Care. Towards Kyiv Residents” program.

Within the framework of the city’s targeted program “Support for Kyiv Defenders — Men and Women”, 66,000 people have already received assistance in the first nine months of 2025, amounting to over 1 billion UAH. This exceeds the figures for the entire year of 2024, when 55,000 residents received UAH 890 million in support.

According to Kyiv City Military Administration, veterans’ councils will be established in each district of Kyiv. These advisory and consultative bodies, operating under each district administration, will ensure systematic cooperation between state institutions, veterans’ communities, families of fallen soldiers, active military personnel, and social services. The councils will serve as platforms for developing and implementing district-level support programs and improving communication with the veteran community.

Zhytomyr oblast

According to the National Police, on October 31, in the forest areas of the border zone in the north of Zhytomyr oblast, two vehicles ran over explosive devices, resulting in the deaths of five people and injuries to three others.  In both cases, local residents entered mined areas, deviating from designated routes on their own initiative.

In the first incident, local residents driving a UAZ vehicle were moving along the state border to carry out a planned logging operation. Despite warning signs, the vehicle hit an explosive device, killing five residents of the local community aged 19 to 65. Two men, aged 25 and 40, sustained injuries of varying severity and were taken to the hospital.

In another case, a 55-year-old and a 32-year-old resident of the Korosten area, transporting timber in a ZIL truck, drove over a mine in a forest area. As a result of the explosion, the younger man was injured and hospitalized.

Sumy oblast

On the morning of 1 November the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, there were 11 combat engagements. The enemy launched 11 airstrikes, dropped 26 guided bombs, and carried out 171 attacks, including six using multiple rocket launch systems.

As of 4pm on 1 November, russia had carried out three airstrikes, dropped nine guided bombs, and conducted 106 attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements, including seven by multiple rocket launch systems. Ukrainian defenders successfully conducted search-and-strike operations, took up new positions, and advanced by approximately 200 metres in certain areas.

Oleh Hryhorov, Head of the Regional Military Administration, said that in Sumy community, russian forces targeted energy facilities. According to him, a 33-year-old local resident was injured during the downing of a drone.

The Regional Military Administration informed that a 57-year-old man was killed in a russian drone attack in Myropillia community. His body was found on a road between villages in the community, next to a bicycle.

On 1 November, russian troops attacked a passenger minibus in Mykolaivka village (Mykolaivka rural community). The vehicle was waiting for passengers at its final stop. According to Serhii Beskrestnov, Head of the Centre for Radiotechnologies, no casualties were reported. According to him, a “Molniya” UAV dropped an FPV-drone that struck the vehicle.

According to the Regional Military Administration, the number of people injured in the 30 October night drone attack in Sumy has risen to 15. Four more people have sought medical assistance for injuries.

The Northern Forestry Office reported that Myronivske forestry unit of the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” was damaged by russian shelling. The strike shattered windows and damaged doors of administrative buildings.

Between the morning of 31 October and the morning of 1 November, russian forces carried out 82 attacks on 31 settlements across 13 territorial communities in the oblast. The highest number of strikes was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs (up to 20 strikes), UAVs (around 10 strikes), dropped explosive devices from drones (over 10 strikes), and also employed FPV-drones and multiple rocket launchers. The air raid alert in the oblast lasted 15 hours over the day.

As a result of russian shelling, seven civilians were injured across the oblast:

  • In Velyka Pysarivka community, a 56-year-old man was injured in an FPV drone strike. Another 56-year-old man was hospitalised after being wounded in an FPV attack on 30 October.

  • In Sumy community, four men aged 50, 55, 63, and 64 were injured in a UAV attack during the night of 30 October.

  • In Bilopillia community, a 64-year-old woman sought medical treatment for an injury sustained on 8 October in a guided bomb attack.

Civil infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:

  • In Mykolaivka settlement community, a civil infrastructure facility was damaged;

  • In Sumy community, six private houses, a utility building, and civil infrastructure facilities were damaged.

During the day, eight people were evacuated from border communities through the joint efforts of local authorities, the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and public organisations.

Following a massive russian strike on the railway infrastructure of Sumy community on 30 October, ticket offices are temporarily closed. However, long-distance train tickets can be purchased online through official Ukrzaliznytsia services, while suburban tickets are available directly from conductors. Trains are running on schedule. The russian attack damaged railway infrastructure, including the passenger depot, ticket offices, and station equipment.

The National Police reported that in Sumy oblast, a russian drone carrying cassettes with anti-tank mines was destroyed. The device crashed in a field within Sumy district. During the site inspection, police officers found PTM-3 munitions among the debris — explosives that are extremely dangerous when armed and can detonate from even the slightest movement or change in the magnetic field.

The Regional Military Administration announced that in one of the villages in Sumy oblast, ten modular houses funded by international donors have been installed. They are currently housing 54 displaced persons from border areas, including 35 children. The project was implemented with the support of the UNHCR.

Chernihiv oblast

The State Border Guard Service reported that fighters of “Khymera” unmanned systems unit of the 105th Border Detachment named after Volodymyr the Great destroyed a russian drone command post in Polissia sector.

Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, said that on the afternoon of 1 November, russian forces attacked the centre of Semenivka by FPV drones.

During the night of 31 October to 1 November, the russian army attacked  Novhorod-Siverskyi towm. Two strike drones hit the central square, damaging building façades and windows.

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Regional Military Administration, informed that in the evening of 31 October, russian forces attacked Koriukivka town and Koriukivka community by seven strike drones. A 66-year-old civilian woman was injured. The attacks hit an agricultural enterprise, a critical infrastructure facility, and a residential building. A hangar on the enterprise’s premises caught fire, which has since been extinguished.

According to Chernihiv Border Detachment, throughout 31 October, russian troops attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast — Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia, and Snovsk. A total of 52 strikes were recorded. The enemy shelled the area by mortars and artillery, launched Shahed-type UAVs and FPV drones, and dropped explosive devices from drones.

Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, reported that in October, russian forces attacked Novhorod-Siverskyi 11 times using Heran-2 strike drones, launching a total of 23 UAVs.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, reported that defenders destroyed 23 enemy UAVs. The enemy attacked Nikopol and Marhanets community by drones and multiple rocket launchers. Fires broke out, a multi-storey residential building and a car were destroyed by flames. Drone strikes also targeted Vasylkivka and Sloviansk communities, causing fires and damaging an educational institution and a transport enterprise.

Throughout the day, the occupiers terrorised the region by drone and artillery attacks, targeting the regional centre, as well as Marhanets, Chervonohryhorivka, Myrove, and Pokrovske communities. A 58-year-old man was killed, while a 54-year-old woman and a 73-year-old man were injured. A fire broke out, destroying one car and damaging two others, as well as a disused building and two private homes.

The enemy also launched drone strikes on Shakhtarske and Petropavlivka communities, causing fires and infrastructure damage.

In Samarskyi region, casualties and injuries were reported following another russian attack, which also damaged a shop.

Vinnytsia oblast

Trostianets, Vinnytsia oblast, paid tribute to seven-year-old Diana, who was killed in a russian shelling on 30 October. Despite doctors’ efforts, the child could not be saved. The community has declared three days of mourning.

Kirovohrad oblast

In Svitlovodsk town, Kirovohrad oblast, relatives of Ukrainian soldiers organised the rally “Do Not Be Silent. Captivity Kills” to draw attention to prisoners of war and missing persons, and to show that families continue to fight for their loved ones’ return.

Poltava oblast

The Regional Military Administration reported that during the night, the enemy once again attacked Poltava oblast. A gas extraction facility came under attack from enemy UAVs, causing a fire.

Cherkasy oblast

According to Ihor Taburets, Head of the Regional Military Administration, in Cherkasy oblast overnight, defenders shot down 13 russian UAVs. In Zolotonosha region, blast waves and debris damaged at least seven private households, including residential buildings and outbuildings.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that a 72-year-old woman was injured as a result of a russian strike on Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia oblast. A private house and the surrounding area were damaged.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Defence Forces repelled 2 russian attacks near Kamianske and Novoandriivka in Orikhiv region. In Huliaipole region, russian forces launched 3 assaults near Novomykolaivka and Nove.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 31 October, russian forces carried out 720 attacks on 25 towns and villages across the oblast. These included 9 airstrikes targeting Lukianivske, Novoiakovlivka, Zaliznychne, Malynivka, Zelenyi Hai, Rivnopillia, Solodke and Dorozhnianka.

Mykolaiv oblast

Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv RMA, reported that at around 7:20am, russian forces launched a ballistic missile strike on Mykolaiv, reportedly by an Iskander-M missile with a cluster warhead. 19 people were injured and 1 person killed. Among the wounded is a child, whose condition is assessed as moderate. The strike damaged a gas station and several vehicles.

According to Mykolaiv RMA, on 31 October, russian forces twice shelled Kutsurub community by artillery. In Dmytrivka village, 3 private houses, 1 apartment building and a power line were damaged. There were no casualties reported.

Odesa oblast

According to the Air Force of Ukraine, in the morning, there was a threat of ballistic missile use in Odesa.

Kherson oblast

Based on the information provided by the State Emergency Service, russian forces attacked rescuers by a drone in Kherson while they were extinguishing a fire in a single-storey house. The fire broke out following russian artillery shelling. The enemy dropped explosives from a UAV onto a fire truck. There were no injuries among emergency personnel reported.

The Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that at around 1:30pm, russian troops shelled Kherson by artillery, killing a 46-year-old woman who was outside at the time.

The RMA said that in the morning, the enemy shelled Bilozirka in Kherson oblast, injuring a 55-year-old woman. She sustained a blast injury and shrapnel wounds to the head and arm.

According to the Southern Defense Forces, on Prydniprovsk region, Ukrainian forces repelled 3 russian assaults near the Antonivskyi railway and road bridges.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported that on 31 October, 2 people were killed and 22 injured due to russian shelling across Kherson oblast. A church, gas pipeline, 8 high-rise buildings, 15 private houses, a kiosk, garages and vehicles were damaged. In total, 26 settlements came under attack.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

In Volodymyrskyi region, a training exercise was conducted on the elimination of the consequences of an enemy attack that took place at one of the facilities. Fire and rescue units were involved in the elimination work together with an emergency medical team.

Zakarpattia oblast

The Center for Providing Administrative Services of Uzhhorod City Council has begun accepting documents for deferment from mobilization. The acceptance is carried out during the center’s usual operating hours.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The National Police Rifle Battalion received electronic warfare equipment from Ivano-Frankivsk community.

Lviv oblast

In Drohobych, thanks to donations and charity fairs, over UAH 57,000 were raised for creation of the Veterans Space Center.

Drohobych RMA together with its partners, sent 150 drones and 7 vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including ambulances, SUVs, and one special vehicle.

Truskavets Information and Resort Center has raised EUR 5,000 for a Ford Ranger. These funds will be used to purchase a vehicle for our soldiers of the 103rd Separate Territorial Defense Brigade named after Metropolitan Andrii Sheptytskyi.

The village of Urizh, Boryslav community, raised over UAH 30,000, and the village of Vynnyky – over UAH 6,000.

Rivne oblast

In Rivne oblast, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the air raid siren has sounded 960 times. In October, 15 alarms were recorded in the oblast, which is one over in the previous month. At the same time, the siren sounded 12 times in all regions of Rivne oblast. Only in Sarny region did the alarm sound twice, and only in Vara region once. The maximum time without alarms was three days, namely from 10 to 14October, as well as from 16 to 20 October.

Ternopil oblast

A center for pastoral care for families of fallen soldiers, Pokrov, has been opened in Ternopil, created on the initiative of Ternopil-Zboriv Archdiocese of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. Here, families of fallen soldiers will be able to receive psychological assistance, legal advice and spiritual support from priests.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Property worth UAH 19.1m (drones, copters, electronic warfare, generators, etc.) was sent to the military from Khmelnytskyi community.

Chernivtsi oblast

Mykola Ivanutsa, soldier from Bukovina, was killed on14  October 2025, while performing a combat mission in Dnipropetrovsk oblast.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Ylva Johansson, EU Special Representative for Ukrainian Affairs, stated that about 4.7m Ukrainians currently live in EU countries.
