The situation on the frontline is characterized by the enemy’s particular activity towards Pokrovsk and Kurakhove. The enemy is using all available forces and means to achieve its goals. The defense forces are acting professionally and effectively, inflicting significant losses on the enemy.
On 8 November, there were 114 combat engagements on the frontline.
A number of settlements near the border with russia suffered from enemy terrorist attacks. Thus, the settlements of Novenke, Pavlivka, Volfyne, Khotyn, Pokrivka, Zhuravka, Tymofiivka, Bilovody, Basivka, Chuikivka in Sumy oblast; Mikhalchyna Sloboda in Chernihiv oblast; Oleksandrivka in Kharkiv oblast came under artillery fire. The russian army also conducted airstrikes on the settlements of Vodolahy, Stetskivka, Khotyn and Zhuravka, using eight combat aircraft.
Towards Kharkiv, russian occupiers twice stormed the defensive lines of Ukrainian troops near Vovchansk. The enemy also dropped eight bombs on Vovchansk, Odnorobivka and Kharkiv.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy actively attacked the positions of our units nine times in the areas of Kindrashivka, Kolisnykivka, Zahryzove, Lozova and Berestove. Ukrainian soldiers steadfastly held the line, repelling all enemy attacks. In addition, the enemy launched eight guided missiles in the vicinity of Kivsharivka, Novoosynove and Bohuslavka.
Towards Lyman, the invading army carried out nine attacks on Ukrainian positions near Hrekivka, Zarichne, Terny, Torske and Hryhorivka. Eight engagements ended without success for the enemy, and one is ongoing.
Towards Siversk, near Bilohorivka, Ukrainian defenders repelled one attack of the russian army, another firefight is still ongoing.
Towards Kramatorsk, the invaders are storming the positions of Ukrainian troops near Bondarne. The situation is under control.
Towards Toretsk, the enemy, with the support of aviation, concentrated its offensive efforts in the vicinity of Toretsk and Shcherbynivka, where four firefights took place, which were successfully repelled.
Towards Pokrovsk, the occupiers made 24 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near the settlements of Myroliubivka, Novotoretske, Promin, Lysivka, Krutyi Yar, Selydove, Vyshneve and Chumatske. Defense forces are holding back the onslaught, having repelled 19 enemy attacks so far, with five engagements still ongoing. The enemy’s losses are being clarified.
Towards Kurakhove, fighting continues near Illinka, Berestky, Novoselydivka, Novodmytrivka, Voznesenka, Maksymivka, Antonivka and Katerynivka. According to the updated information, 18 out of 32 attacks of the russian army were repelled in the area. Fierce fighting continues.
Towards Vremivka, the enemy made six attempts to storm the positions of Ukrainian units near Bohoiavlenka. Two firefights are ongoing.
Towards Orikhiv, the occupiers attacked Ukrainian units near Novoandriivka. Moreover, the terrorist army fired unguided aerial missiles at Lobkove and Novoandriivka, and Novomykolayivka was hit by a missile attack, probably by an Iskander-M missile.
Towards Kherson, the invaders keep trying to drive our units out of their positions. They made one unsuccessful assault on the positions of Ukrainian defenders.
The Coordination Center for the Treatment of Prisoners of War informs that the bodies of 563 fallen defenders were returned. Representatives of law enforcement agencies and forensic experts will identify the victims.
According to the Communications Department of the Support Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 4613 uses of special ammunition equipped with hazardous chemicals have been recorded. In October, there were 323 cases.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
According to the General Staff, the highest concentration of russian attacks remains in Kurakhove defence area. Yesterday russian troops stormed Ukrainian positions in this area of the frontline 50 times, including near Illinka, Sontsivka and Novoselydivka.
Ukrainian defenders repelled 24 attacks towards Pokrovsk. The invaders tried to advance, specifically, near Promin, Selydove, Lysivka and Myroliubivka.
Another 17 attacks were conducted by russians towards Lyman, near Druzheliubivka, Hrekivka, Makiivka, Katerynivka, Terny, Torske, Serebrianka, Bilohorivka and Hryhorivka.
The invaders launched seven attacks towards Toretsk and Kramatorsk.
Kharkiv oblast
Kharkiv oblast signed a memorandum with the US state of Ohio. It took two years of diplomatic communication to achieve this. This is an important step towards the development of innovations in research, development and sustainable agricultural technologies.
Towards Kharkiv, russian invaders twice stormed the defensive lines of the Ukrainian army near Vovchansk. According to the General Staff, as of 4pm, russia also dropped eight aerial bombs on Vovchansk, Odnorobivka and Kharkiv.
Towards Kupiansk, the occupiers actively attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops nine times in the areas of Kindrashivka, Kolisnykivka, Zahryzove, Lozova and Berestove. Ukrainian soldiers repelled all attacks. In addition, the occupiers launched eight guided missiles near Kivsharivka, Novoosynove and Bohuslavka.
In total, russia launched 11 attacks and dropped 16 bombs.
The Regional Prosecutor’s Office said that a volunteer was injured as a result of an FPV drone strike on Vovchansk at around 11:50am.
Yevhen Ivanov, Deputy Head of the RMA, reported that windows and stained-glass windows in the State Industrial Complex in Kharkiv were blown out after an air strike around 3:30am. No one was in the building at the time of the strike, except for the guards. New damage to the building is being assessed. 460 windows were damaged, 70 of which are beyond repair. Also, 20 doors and 70 stained glass windows were damaged.
The press service of Kharkiv National University named after Karazin said that the main and northern buildings were damaged as a result of the night strikes by russian Federation. The shock wave and debris damaged 267 windows of the university.
At 3:53am, Shevchenkivskyi district was under attack from russia. Three administrative buildings were damaged as a result of the shelling by the KAB.
At 3:37am, Shevchenkivskyi district was under russian attack. The inspection was carried out after the shelling. As a result of the shelling, 6 residential buildings, 8 administrative buildings, 4 cars, 3 trade pavilions and 4 exits of the metro station were damaged.
At 3:36am, Saltivskyi district, was under attack. The shelling of a 12-storey residential building partially destroyed the entrance of the building from the 1st to the 3rd floor. One apartment building, 5 cars and the exits of the metro station were damaged. Twenty-five people were injured: in mild and moderate condition, no critical injuries. Six were hospitalised.
The State Emergency Service reported that the rubble of the house in Saltivka has been cleared. 240 cubic metres of construction waste was removed.
Serhii Rashevskyi, Head of the emergency rescue unit for the elimination of the consequences of emergencies, informed that the building is in a state of emergency from the third floor onwards.
The RMA said that they are restoring utility networks and supplying heating, electricity and water for further operation of the building.
At 11:55am, Kozacha Logan village of Derhachi community, Kharkiv region, was under attack from the russian Federation. A residential building was damaged as a result of shelling from an MRLs. A 19-year-old man was injured.
At 11:47am, Postolne village of Zolochiv community, Bohodukhiv region, was under russian attack. The enemy shelled the open territory.
Towards Kharkiv, there were three enemy assaults on the positions of our defenders in Vovchansk.
Towards Kupiansk, 12 enemy attacks were registered. Ukrainian defence forces repelled the enemy’s offensive towards Petropavlivka, Kruhliakivka, Kindrashivka, Kolisnykivka and Lozova.
During the day, 86 people were evacuated from Kupiansk and Borova directions.
The hostilities in Kharkiv oblast have damaged or destroyed a total of over 38,600 objects, including over 35,000 residential buildings, including over 7,000 apartment buildings. And the number is growing every day. Thanks to the yeVidnovlennia programme, applicants have already purchased 632 apartments and 216 private houses. The cost of the purchased housing is over UAH 1.4bn.
Donetsk oblast
the Main Intelligence Directorate said that western components were found in a russian S-70 Myslyvets UAV, the wreckage of which crashed in Kostiantynivka on 5 October. Experts found microelectronics and other technological components manufactured by companies from the US, Germany and Switzerland.
Maksym, Head of the 60th Brigade’s communications department, reported that it will be difficult for the russians to force the Zherebets river east of Lyman. The line of contact in this area of the frontline runs along the river and the terrain helps the defence forces to defend themselves.
The enemy troops killed two civilians and injured six more. Police recorded 2,952 hostile attacks along the frontline and in the residential sector. 6 settlements were affected: Kurakhove, Mykolaivka, Pokrovsk, Yampil, Mykolaivka and Rivne. 34 civilian objects, including 24 residential buildings, were damaged.
Also russians dropped two UMPB D-30 SN bombs on Mykolaivka, killing 2 women and injuring 5 other civilians. Five apartment buildings, an educational institution and 4 cars were destroyed.
The occupiers shelled Mykolaivka village with Grad multiple rocket launchers, wounding a man and damaging 9 private houses and an educational institution.
The enemy attacked Pokrovsk twice, including with a FAB-250 bomb with an UMPK module. A private house, a garage and railway tracks were damaged.
In Rivne, 8 private houses and a garage were damaged as a result of shelling from the S-300 system.
The enemy launched two bombs at Kurakhove, damaging an administrative building.
A private house was damaged in Yampil.
Donetskoblhaz said that gas supply has been restored in two villages of Illinivska community in Donetsk oblast. Due to russian shelling, there has been no gas supply in Nova Poltavka since August, and Oleksandro-Kalynove was without gas for almost a month.

Luhansk oblast
Artem Lysohor, Head of the RMA, reported that Lyman frontline was again one of the three most active, if we take into account the entire combat line. The enemy stormed our positions there 17 times. Specifically, they attacked near Hrekivka, Makiivka and Bilohorivka. The invaders attacked 16 times at the fortifications of Ukrainian soldiers and the surrounding villages from artillery systems. 46 russian drones attempted to carry out drops near Makiivka and Balka Zhuravka.
Last week, the occupiers suffered significant losses near Bilohorivka. The commander of the 123rd separate guards motorised rifle brigade of the 2nd army corps of the “people’s militia of the luhansk people’s republic” is blamed for this. He threw three motorised rifle battalions and one tank battalion into the battle without providing fire support. The assault was stopped by Ukrainian defenders.
According to the invaders, the russians suffered significant losses in both equipment and manpower. They have not yet evacuated the wounded and the bodies of the dead. No one in russia needs the forcibly mobilised residents of the so-called “luhansk people’s republic”.
In early November, the invaders in Luhansk started looking for emergency housing. As if to improve the living conditions of citizens. They plan to inspect 856 apartment buildings. At the same time, they are not going to assess the extent of damage to residential areas in Siverskodonetsk, Lysychansk, Popasna, Rubizhne and other frontline settlements, where hundreds of houses have been destroyed.
The so-called government of the “luhansk people’s republic” terrorist group stated that the Holy Dormition Church in the occupied Luhansk oblast in Osynove village was included in the “unified state register of cultural heritage of the peoples of the russian federation”. The church was built in XVII century as a wooden church in the Cossack Baroque style and is Ukrainian.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported that a fire broke out in Kyiv oblast as a result of the fall of the UAV wreckage. Several nearby trucks were damaged. Four drivers were injured and hospitalised. Rescuers prevented a fuel spill.
Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the RMA, informed that the air alert in Kyiv oblast lasted more than 12 hours. The russian military attacked the oblast with missiles and UAVs. As of 9:00am, six private houses in two districts, four trucks, two cars and garages were damaged as a result of the falling debris of downed enemy targets. The premises of an inactive gas filling station also burned down. The owners of the damaged houses will be provided with all necessary assistance in their reconstruction.
DTEK reported that the debris from russian drones damaged high-voltage power lines in Kyiv oblast. The power company promptly switched all the houses to backup power supply. Experts are currently repairing the damaged lines.
Magnus Tähkna, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, announced that during the shelling on 7 November, a russian drone hit a house in Kyiv where Anneli Kolk, Estonian Ambassador to Ukraine, lives. The diplomat and other residents of the house were not injured – the UAV hit the upper floors, where no one was present at the time.
The Main Directorate of the National Police of Kyiv reported that after the massive russian shelling of the capital on 7 November, the police found two unexploded drones. One of the drones fell on the roof of a private house, the other on a wasteland. Police explosives experts arrived at the scene and discharged the warheads of the drones.
In Kyiv, Valentyna Nahorna, call sign Valkyrie, a combat medic of the Third Assault Brigade, was bade farewell. She joined the army at the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion, rescued the injured as part of medical crews and worked at a stabilisation point. Valentyna was killed in October 2024 at the frontline, along with her beloved soldier, Danylo, call sign Berserker.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Masashi Nakagome visited Bucha. According to Bucha Mayor Anatolii Fedoruk, this is not the first visit of the diplomat to Bucha – he had previously visited as part of official high-ranking delegations and was impressed by the pace of the city’s reconstruction. They discussed further cooperation between Bucha community in the energy sector and a new energy aid package being prepared by Japan.
Irpin Mayor Oleksandr Markushyn informed that Carl-Oscar Bolin, Minister of Civil Defence of Sweden, visited Irpin. The meeting took place on 7 November at the Romanivskyi Bridge. This is the second visit of the Swedish official to the hero city.
The Ukrainian Women’s Guard NGO held another training on self-defence and survival in crisis situations for women. The event took place on 3 November in Kyiv. The participants did exercises to overcome the psychological barrier and learned to fight back during an attack. The course was taught by Viktor Kraievskyi, chief instructor of the YASEN and UVV, founder and head of the School of Martial Arts, and head of the German Judo Union in Ukraine.
A presentation of a book for weapons manufacturers, the Gunsmith’s Guide, was held in Kyiv by the team of the Technological Forces of Ukraine. the General Staff reported that it is an association of leading private arms manufacturers with practical experience in providing the Armed Forces of Ukraine with robotic systems and software products.
Zhytomyr oblast
The regional military administration says that alternative energy sources are used in Zhytomyr oblast. There are 19 industrial solar, 21 hydroelectric, and some biogas power plants. Sumy oblast
Sumy Regional Military Administration reports that around 5:00pm, the russian military struck critical infrastructure in Sumy community with a ballistic missile. Emergency response teams are currently working at the impact site to address the situation.
Around 3:00pm, the russian army launched a second attack on the center of Krasnopillia, while emergency crews were still responding to an earlier strike. Head of Sumy Regional Council, Hennadii Demianenko reports that a private house was damaged in this attack, and one person became trapped under the rubble.
Sumy Prosecutor’s Office informs that around 8:00pm on 7 November, the russian army attacked a village in Chernechchyna community of Sumy oblast using a drone. A 49-year-old civilian woman was injured, and a window in a private house was damaged in the attack.
During night and morning, russians carried out 11 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 18 explosions. The attacks targeted Sumy, Khotin, Yunakivka, Krasnopillia, Myropilia, and Putyvl communities.
On 7 November, russians carried out 46 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 91 explosions. The attacks targeted Khotin, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Chernechchyna, and Hrun communities.
Chernihiv oblast
Throughout the day, the russian army attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast. The enemy used FPV-drones, dropped UAVs, barrel artillery, and mortars.
Novhorod-Siverskyi community:

Semenivka community:
– 5 hits by a 120mm mortar in Leonivka village;
– 11 hits by a 120mm mortar in Halahanivka village;

No casualties or injuries among the local population were reported as a result of the shelling.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, announced that a young athlete from Chernihiv, 14-year-old Kateryna Bohatyriova, won a silver medal at European Taekwondo Championship for Cadets, which took place in Tirana. Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Serhii Lysak, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, reported that in Nikopol region, Nikopol itself, Marhanets, Myrove and Pokrov communities were shelled. The aggressor used kamikaze drones and artillery. They used Grad multiple rocket launchers and dropped ammunition from a UAV. A 42-year-old woman was injured. She will be treated on an outpatient basis. Infrastructure, an industrial enterprise and a social institution were damaged. A car, a minibus and a truck were also damaged. A power line was hit. Hrushevska community of Kryvyi Rih region was hit. The occupiers used heavy artillery and a drone on the territory there. The infrastructure there is damaged.
Kirovohrad oblast
Andrii Raikovych, Head of Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, reported that during an air alert over Kirovohrad oblast, the defenders of the sky destroyed an enemy Shahed.
Poltava oblast
Filip Pronin, Head of Poltava Regional Military Administration, reported that an ambulance delivered from abroad has been handed over to Poltava oblast. The funds for the vehicle were raised during charity concerts in the Netherlands by the brother of a volunteer from the Novoselivka community. The vehicle has specialised life-saving equipment and a backup power supply, as well as oxygen cylinders and stretchers. In addition, the volunteers donated essential medicines and a set of car tyres. The vehicle was sent to the military in Donetsk oblast.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
On 7 November, russian forces carried out an airstrike on Zaporizhzhia using aerial bombs. The attack resulted in the tragic death of ten people, including a one-year-old boy. Forty-two civilians were injured, among them three children. Currently, 15 of the wounded are receiving treatment in hospitals. Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration declared 8 November a Day of Mourning for those killed in this horrific attack.
The russian strike also targeted the regional oncological dispensary; 17 patients were evacuated to other hospitals. At least eight medical workers were injured, with two of them in critical condition.
On 7 November, the occupiers launched 384 strikes on 15 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. This included 16 airstrikes on Zaporizhzhia, Kushuhum, Stepnohirsk, Novoandriivka, Mala Tokmachka, Novodarivka, Robotyne, Novodanylivka, and Bilohiria. Additionally, 194 drones of various modifications were deployed against Lobkove, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, Malynivka, Novodarivka, and Olhivske. Six MLRS strikes targeted Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, and Novoandriivka. 168 artillery attacks hit Lobkove, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, Malynivka, Novodarivka, and Olhivske. In total, there were 149 reports of destroyed homes and infrastructure damage.
It is reported that enemy forces assaulted Ukrainian positions near Novoandriivka towards Orikhiv. The invaders also launched unguided aviation rockets on Lobkove and Novoandriivka. A likely Iskander-M missile strike hit the settlement of Novomykolaivka.
Mykolaiv oblast
During the night of 8 November, air defense forces successfully intercepted and destroyed a Shahed 131/136 drone in Mykolaiv oblast.
On 7 November, russian forces conducted two attacks using FPV drones on Kutsurub community. There were no reported injuries from these assaults.
Odesa oblast
During the night of 8 November, russian forces launched a massive drone attack on Odesa region. The assault resulted in one fatality and nine injuries, with six of the wounded hospitalized while others received treatment on-site. The attack caused damage to private residential buildings, leading to fires in several homes. Additionally, two gas pipelines were ruptured, igniting fires, and windows were shattered in multiple structures. The attack also damaged Lyceum No. 125, one of the oldest schools in Odesa, along with 15 private houses.
The southern air defense forces intercepted 18 Shahed attack drones targeting Odesa oblast. In total, during the night, air defense managed to shoot down four Kh-59/69 missiles and 62 out of 92 drones across 12 regions of Ukraine.
27 ambassadors from EU countries and a delegation from the EU Political and Security Committee, led by its chairperson Delphine Pronk, visited Odesa for a working meeting. The diplomats discussed the security and humanitarian situation in the region, the operations of the ports, the grain corridor, ongoing shelling, the energy crisis, and the cultural life of the city.
Kherson oblast
On 8 November, around 10:00, the russian army shelled settlements in Kherson community with artillery. A 74-year-old resident, who was outside at the time of the shelling, was killed.
Later, around 3:00pm near Stanislav, russian forces targeted a civilian vehicle with an FPV drone, resulting in the death of a 40-year-old man.
Between 3:10 and 4:15pm in Beryslav, the dropping of explosives from drones caused the death of a 48-year-old civilian, while a 45-year-old man sustained injuries.
A 31-year-old resident of Kherson sought medical help after suffering blast trauma and a concussion from an earlier russian attack.
Yesterday, russian forces conducted shelling and airstrikes on multiple locations, including Antonivka, Bilozerka, Beryslav, Novoberyslav, Vesele, Velyka Oleksandrivka, Dudchany, Stanislav, Novooleksandrivka, Zmiivka, Shyroka Balka, Mykilske, Ukrainka, Mykhailivka, Kizomys, and the city of Kherson. The attacks damaged critical infrastructure, a museum, a pharmacy, a hair salon, several residential buildings, and private cars. Overall, one person was killed and three others were injured.
On the southern front, Ukrainian forces successfully destroyed 68 units of russian military equipment and eliminated 62 russian soldiers. Additionally, Ukrainian defense units targeted seven enemy bunkers, four ammunition storage sites, a fuel depot, an observation point, and a drone launch site.
In Bilozirka community, volunteers delivered construction materials, including 10 packs of slate, to help residents of Pravdyne and Tavriiske repair buildings damaged by russian attacks.
A Memorial Alley for Fallen Heroes was inaugurated in Muzykivka. It features the names and photos of 15 defenders who died fighting for Ukraine’s independence. Relatives, friends, and locals attended the solemn opening ceremony to honour the memory and sacrifice of these soldiers.

Volyn oblast
Lutsk utility workers received special equipment for the disposal of solid household waste from their Lithuanian colleagues. The Lutskspeckomuntrans enterprise from Vilnius received a heavy-duty French Bomag compactor. Similar equipment is used at landfills for compaction and re-filling of solid household waste, which extends the service life of landfills and makes it possible to reduce their area.

A memorial plaque was unveiled on the facade of Ivano-Frankivsk Higher Vocational School № 21 to Andrii Savchyn, fallen defender of Ukraine. The hero once studied here. Served in the 65th brigade. He fought for almost a year, then was considered missing. He was killed in Zaporizhzhia oblast.
Lviv oblast
Lviv oblast sent equipment and means of energy supply to units of the airborne assault troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Generators, power plants, EW devices, drones, uninterruptible power supplies and other necessary equipment worth approximately UAH 10m were purchased within the framework of the Safe Lviv Oblast regional program.

Rivne oblast
A modular town was officially presented at the regional hospital for war veterans. These are 10 houses, each of which is designed for 2 people. Servicemen will live in them during treatment. And also, if necessary, their relatives.
Ternopil oblast
Pavlo Zhurba, Deputy Chief of Ternopil Regional Military Administration, met with Dr. Vilma Eliza Fuentes, Head of the Task Force on Ukraine at the Florida State University. During the meeting, they discussed the possibilities of expanding experience exchange programs between Ukrainian and American specialists in the field of rehabilitation and social adaptation of veterans.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
At night, during the repulse of an enemy air attack, the Air Defense Forces shot down 2 Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicles. As a result of the attack, the roof and windows in the apartments of the two-story residential building were damaged. The fire has been extinguished. There were no injuries or killed.
The RMA reported that military exercises were held within Khmelnytskyi community.
Chernivtsi oblast
In Chernivtsi Higher Commercial School there was a meeting of students with military personnel of the Territorial Center of Manpower and Social Support and military personnel of a separate anti-aircraft machine gun battalion within the framework of military-patriotic education of youth. The key goal is the formation of a sense of pride for one’s country, knowledge of its heroic history, and awareness of the need to be ready to become defenders of the state. During the meeting, soldiers shared their experience of serving at the front, talked about their achievements in the fight against the enemy and the injuries they experienced, which forced them to return to the rear.
