It has been the 1531  th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:

  On 3 May, there were 122 combat engagements. The enemy launched one missile strike using two missiles and carried out 49 airstrikes, dropping 180 guided aerial bombs. Additionally, they deployed 6,421 kamikaze drones for strikes and carried out 2,400 attacks on settlements and the positions of our troops.

Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, the enemy today launched two airstrikes, dropped four aerial bombs, and carried out 53 strikes on the positions of our troops and settlements, two of which involved MLRS. One enemy assault was recorded.

Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy attacked the positions of our units three times in the direction of Starytsia, Lyman, and Mytrofanivka. One battle is ongoing.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy attacked once in the direction of Kurylivka.

Towards Lyman, Ukrainian soldiers repelled five assaults by the occupiers in the direction of Lyman, Novyi Myr, Drobysheve, and Ozerne. One battle is ongoing.

Towards Sloviansk, the enemy attacked twice in the direction of Rai-Oleksandrivka and Riznykivka.

Towards Kramatorsk, the enemy did not conduct any offensive operations.

Towards Kostiantynivka, the occupiers today conducted 19 assaults on our defenders’ positions in the vicinity of Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Stepanivka, Rusyn Yar, and Sofiivka. One engagement is ongoing.

Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy carried out 23 attacks. The occupiers attempted to advance toward the settlements of Bilytske, Dorozhnie, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Hryshyne, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, and Novopavlivka. Two engagements are ongoing. According to preliminary estimates, 66 occupiers were liquidated and 28 wounded; six units of automotive and five units of special equipment were destroyed, along with one enemy control point. Additionally, two artillery systems, three units of automotive and three units of special equipment, one UAV control point, and 20 enemy shelters were damaged. 181 UAVs of various types were destroyed or suppressed.

Towards Oleksandrivka, the occupiers attacked three times in the vicinity of Vorone, Krasnohirske, and Berezove. Prosiana came under an airstrike.

Towards Huliaypole, 15 attacks by the occupiers were recorded in the directions of Zaliznychne, Olenokostiantynivka, Pryluky, Sviatopetrivka, Verkhnia Tersa, Hirke, Charivne, and Huliaypilske. Two engagements are still ongoing. Airstrikes targeted Vozdvyzhivka, Verkhnia Tersa, Novomykolaivka, Malyn, Huliaypilske, Lisne, Kopani, Omelnyk, Yehorivka, Rizdvianka, Barvinivka, and Rivne.

Towards Orikhiv, the enemy attacked once in the vicinity of Shcherbaky. The enemy launched airstrikes in the vicinity of Orikhiv, Omelnyk, Lystivka, Tavriiske, Hryhorivka, Odarivka, Zarichne, and Komyshuvakha.

Towards Kherson, the enemy conducted two attacks in the direction of Antonivka.

In other directions, there have been no significant changes in the situation.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to Commander Robert “Magyar” Brovdi, the Unmanned Systems Forces delivered a series of strikes against Russian air defense systems and military bases in the temporarily occupied parts of Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts.

From 1 May to 3 May, Ukrainian forces struck:

  • Deployment points of Rubikon and Storm units;
  • Pantsir-S1 and Tor anti-aircraft missile systems;
  • P-18 type radar stations;
  • A telecommunications center in Mariupol;
  • A repair base in Kadiivka.

In Kharkiv oblast, Ukrainian drone operators from the Lasar’s Group of the National Guard destroyed a russian Zhitel automated jamming station and a command and staff vehicle, according to the unit’s press service.

Front Line

There were 141 combat engagements. Towards Southern Sloboda, russian troops attacked the positions of the Defense Forces six times in the vicinity of Starytsia and Prylipka, and in the vicinity of Lyman, Izbytske, and Okhrimivka. Towards Kupiansk, the russian army attacked once in the direction of Novoplatonivka.

Kharkiv RMA reports that Kharkiv and 17 settlements in the oblast were subjected to enemy strikes. 13 people were injured as a result of the shelling.

  • In Kharkiv, nine people sustained injuries.
  • In Bilyi Kolodiaz of the Vovchansk community, a 47-year-old farm worker sustained shrapnel wounds while performing agricultural work in a field.
  • In Balakliia, two men and a woman were injured.

Russian troops attacked the Slobidskyi, Saltivskyi, Osnovianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Kholodnohirskyi districts of Kharkiv with drones. Over the course of the day, the russian army deployed guided aerial bombs (KABs), 12 Geran-2 UAVs, two Lancet UAVs, 11 Molniia UAVs, an FPV drone, and 55 drones of an unidentified type across Kharkiv oblast.

As a result of the strikes, residential buildings, railway infrastructure, cars, a car dealership, gas stations, farms, a post office, a bus station, a cafe, a hair salon, and other civilian infrastructure objects were damaged in Kharkiv, as well as in Bohodukhiv, Kupiansk, Izium, Kharkiv, and Berestyn regions.

In Bohodukhiv, an emergency medical assistance vehicle was damaged by a falling russian drone; the medical crew was not injured.

According to Kharkiv SES, in Pisochyn and Bohodukhiv, russian strikes caused fires at a private enterprise, a production facility, and a post office; no casualties were reported.

The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 202 people over the past day. Since the point began operating, a total of 31,860 people have been registered.

Donetsk oblast

Towards Pokrovsk, the Defense Forces repelled 26 assaults by Russian troops near Bilytske, Nove Shakhove, Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Udachne, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Muravka, Molodetske, and Novyi Donbas; Ukrainian soldiers stopped another 17 attacks towards Kostiantynivka.

In the morning, Russian troops attacked the Phoenix evacuation group of  Donetsk Oblast SES with a drone for the second time this week, reported the SES of Donetsk oblast.

Kramatorsk City Military Administration reports that around 04:30, the russian army attacked Kramatorsk with a drone; a civilian car was damaged as a result of the strike.

According to Donetsk Oblast Police, on 2 May, there were 1,302 strikes by the russian army along the front line and the residential sector of Donetsk oblast. 12 settlements were under fire, and 21 civilian objects were damaged, including 12 residential buildings.

  • In Dobropillia, russian troops killed one civilian and wounded another.
  • In Mykolaivka, one person was killed and two others were injured as a result of five strikes; five apartment buildings and one private house were damaged.
  • In Druzhkivka, two civilians were injured, and three private houses and a car were damaged following an attack by five drones.
  • In Zavydo-Borzenka, an FPV drone wounded two people and damaged a civilian car.
  • One injury each was recorded in Kryvorizhzhia and Sydorove.

Russian troops dropped a KAB-250 guided aerial bomb on Sloviansk, damaging an outbuilding. In Kramatorsk, drone attacks damaged an apartment building and a car; in Sviatohirsk, a building of the Lavra was damaged; in Malotaranivka, a car was affected; and in Iverske, a tire repair shop was damaged.

Luhansk oblast

Oleksii Kharchenko, Head of Luhansk RMA, says that towards Lyman, Ukrainian defenders repelled six russian assaults near three settlements. Within Luhansk oblast, the Russian army used mortars 14 times, tube artillery seven times, and automatic grenade launchers four times, while deploying drones on another 19 occasions.

The ATESH movement claimed responsibility for a sabotage operation in occupied Luhansk, destroying a russian military KamAZ truck. The vehicle burned down during the night just before a scheduled loading of provisions for the Russian army.

Oleksii Kharchenko, Head of Luhansk RMA, says that in occupied Luhansk, insulin medications have been unavailable in pharmacies since early April. Local residents report interruptions in the supply of life-saving medicines.

Occupation authorities plan to supply facade paints produced in occupied Kadiivka to other seized territories. These paints, currently used during the staged “restoration” of Lysychansk and Sievierodonetsk, are being promoted despite widespread complaints regarding their low quality.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Serhiy (Flash) Beskrestnov, an adviser to the Minister of Defence and an expert in electronic warfare systems, reported that during the latest attack on Kyiv oblast, russian troops used unusual drones. The enemy deployed large numbers of ‘Parody’ decoy UAVs. Their purpose is to divert the attention of air defence systems.

A new social and veterans’ project called “A Comrade’s Shoulder” is set to launch in Kyiv oblast in the near future. The initiative aims to provide comprehensive support to the families of military personnel. The project combines several critically important elements: the social integration of veterans through employment; practical support for military families in their daily lives; and the active participation of local authorities in implementing the initiative.

The media service of the Veterans’ Corps announced that free open training sessions on tactical medicine for the civilian population will be held on 2–3 May from 13:00 to 18:00 in Kyiv, near the “Holosiivska” metro station. On the first day, around 100 Kyiv residents took part in the event, practising basic first aid skills.

The Regional Military Administration has reported that infrastructure projects are currently being implemented in the oblast with the support of the European Investment Bank. Thirteen projects are currently underway, coordinated by the Regional Administration. The projects involve the restoration and modernisation of schools, healthcare facilities and social infrastructure.

Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, reported that during a field meeting with community leaders, around 6,000 trees were planted on sites in the region that had previously been demined, with further steps for the reconstruction of Kyiv oblast determined. The working visit began in Borodianka, where the delegation visited the reconstruction of the community after the destruction.

Zhytomyr oblast

On 1 May, the sports and patriotic run ‘I’m Running for Ukraine’s Victory!’ took place in Malyn. Organised by the local community organisation ‘Sokil Malyn’ in collaboration with Malyn City Council, the event brought together runners and supporters for the fourth time. Over 500 people took part in the run – the oldest participant was 82 years old, and the youngest was 4.

Sumy oblast

Viktor Trehubov, Head of Communications of the Joint Forces Group, said that in the area of Hrabovske and Myropilske in Krasnopillia community, the russian army is trying to expand its zone of control, relying on captured settlements. Ukrainian troops that withdrew there are relying on prepared positions. According to him, russian forces are also using equipment to a minimal extent. In particular, in the area of responsibility of the Joint Forces Group, Ukrainian fighters destroyed 19 russian tanks and 16 armoured vehicles in April.

The Regional Military Administration reported that on the morning of 3 May, a russian drone deliberately attacked a grain truck in Hlukhiv community. The lorry caught fire. The 46-year-old driver was injured and hospitalised.

Sumy oblast Police informed that in Bilopillia, a russian FPV-type drone attacked a police service vehicle. Two law enforcement officers sustained serious injuries in the strike. They were evacuated and handed over to medics. One of the men is in an extremely serious condition. According to the Regional Military Administration, a 63-year-old woman was also wounded in Bilopillia. The attack damaged an apartment building, private residential houses and a civilian infrastructure facility.

According to Oleh Hryhorov, Head of Sumy Regional Military Administration, on 2 May in Sumy, boys aged 10 and 11 were injured as a result of the downing of russian drones. The children were outside during the russian attack. Their injuries are not serious, and medics are providing the necessary assistance.

Viktor Lekhman, Head of the Community, reported that on 2 May, russian forces struck a private agricultural enterprise in Krolevets. Six people were wounded in the attack: men aged 40, 44, 60 and 72, and women aged 37 and 47. All the wounded were hospitalised. One woman is in critical condition in intensive care, and one man had his leg amputated. According to the Regional Military Administration, non-residential premises, private residential houses, cars and agricultural machinery were damaged in the attack.

Enemy forces attacked a civilian car by a drone in Putyvl community. According to preliminary information from Sumy oblast Police, a two-year-old child was injured.

Shostka Mayor Mykola Noha said that during the day on 2 April, a woman born in 1954 was injured by an explosive object in Shostka. She was clearing rubbish on a garden plot. After she lit a fire, an explosion occurred. The woman sustained a chest wound.

Sumy oblast Prosecutor’s Office reported  that on 2 May at around 4pm, a 45-year-old worker of an agricultural enterprise was killed in Krasnopillia community while working in a field as a result of the detonation of a russian drone.

Sumy Regional Military Administration informed that as a result of russian shelling in the oblast over the past day, as of the morning of 3 April, one person was killed and 18 were injured. 

During the day, from the morning of 2 May to the morning of 3 May, russian forces carried out almost 110 attacks on 57 settlements in 24 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy, Konotop and Shostka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs, and carried out a missile attack. Over the past day, air raid alerts in the oblast lasted 22 hours and 20 minutes.

Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:

  • In Sumy community, private residential houses, an outbuilding and cars were damaged;
  • In Trostianets community, a private residential house, a non-residential premises and vehicles were damaged;
  • In Konotop community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
  • In Putyvl community, non-residential buildings and a car were damaged;
  • In Bilopillia community, an apartment building, private residential houses, a civilian infrastructure facility and a car were damaged, and a car was destroyed;
  • In Popivka community, cars and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;
  • In Nova Slobidka community, outbuildings were destroyed and a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
  • In Krasnopillia community, private residential houses, a cultural centre, and premises of an educational institution and a shop were damaged;
  • In Velyka Pysarivka community, a private residential house and a car were damaged;
  • In Krolevets community, non-residential premises, private residential houses, cars and agricultural machinery were damaged;
  • In Berezivka community, a private residential house was damaged;
  • In Seredyna-Buda community, private residential houses, an apartment building and a non-residential premises were damaged;
  • In Yampil community, private residential houses and outbuildings were destroyed, and an administrative building was damaged as a result of earlier shelling.

Chernihiv oblast

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, reported that on the morning of 3 May, russian forces attacked a shop in Semenivka by an FPV drone. Residential buildings in the city were also damaged in the attacks.

Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, said that at around 11:50pm on 2 April, russian forces attacked a 17-year-old boy riding a moped in Semenivka by an FPV drone. The minor sustained shrapnel wounds to the chest and right arm. The boy was hospitalised.

According to Chernihiv Border Detachment, during the day on 2 April, russian forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar attacks with 16 explosions and barrel artillery attacks with 8 explosions, launched a Molniya-type UAV strike with 1 explosion, carried out FPV drone strikes with 22 explosions, and dropped explosive devices from UAVs with 10 explosions. Eleven settlements came under enemy fire.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that the occupiers attacked Nikopol, Marhanets, Myrove, Chervonohryhorivka and Pokrovske rural communities by drones. A 69-year-old man was injured in the regional centre. A private house, three cars and a trailer were damaged. Two more houses and lorries were damaged in evening attacks.

A woman was injured in Pokrovske community.

The occupiers attacked the regional centre, Marhanets, Myrove, Chervonohryhorivka and Pokrovske rural communities by artillery and FPV drones. Seven apartment buildings, two private houses, an outbuilding, infrastructure, a gas pipeline and a power line were damaged.

The enemy attacked Mezhova community by drones. A man was injured. A private house caught fire.

A boy was killed in a missile attack on Dnipro. Eleven people were injured, including a child. A dormitory, an administrative building, residential buildings, a business centre, a shop and 10 cars were damaged. An outbuilding caught fire. In Solone community, a UAV attack caused a fire and damaged a farm.

A fire broke out in an apartment block in Kryvyi Rih following a UAV attack. Six people were injured, including two children. In Krynychky community, six people were injured, including one child. A fire broke out, and four lorries and a bus were damaged.

Vinnytsia oblast

A personalised minute of silence was held in Vinnytsia in memory of defender Davyd Kovaliov, call sign “Dava”. The event took place on the fallen soldier’s birthday. He would have turned 31 this year. 

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, reported that air defence forces and systems neutralised six russian UAVs within Cherkasy oblast. 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that a fire broke out in garage premises as a result of russian shelling of Zaporizhzhia. 9 people sustained shrapnel wounds. Among them are children aged 2 and 12.

According to Zaporizhzhia RMA, on 3 May. a 10-year-old boy from Zaporizhzhia was injured as a result of a russian drone strike near a bus in Dnipropetrovsk oblast. About 40 children were on the bus, traveling from Zaporizhzhia to Ivano-Frankivsk oblast for recreation. They were evacuated to Zatyshne community in Dnipropetrovsk oblast and provided with food. Most of the children then continued their journey.

Based on the information provided by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 2 May, Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 22 russian attacks on Huliaipole and Oleksandrivka regions. In particular, clashes took place in the areas of Dobropillia, Zaliznychne, Sviatopetrivka, Staroukrainka, Charivne, Hirke, Tsvitkove, Myrne, Varvarivka, Pryluky, Stepove and towards Vozdvyzhivka and Prymorske.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that 2 people were killed and 5 injured as a result of attacks on Zaporizhzhia oblast. On 2 May, over 830 strikes on 42 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast were carried out by russian forces. Most attacks were conducted by drones.

Referring to the National Police of Zaporizhzhia oblast, yesterday, 3 men were injured as a result of russian airstrikes on Tavriiske and Novomykolaivka.

The Oblenergo (the regional energy company) reported that on 2 May, russian forces attacked an energy workers’ brigade while they were carrying out emergency repair work in Zaporizhzhia oblast. As a result of the shelling, a service vehicle was damaged, the workers were not injured.

Mykolaiv oblast

Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv RMA, informed that as a result of a ballistic strike in Mykolaiv, 17 private houses were damaged, including windows and roofs. 3 men and 2 women were injured. There is damage to private houses. 

The RMA reported that on 2 May and during the night of 3 May, russian forces attacked Mykolaiv and the oblast by Shahed drones. Energy infrastructure was under attack. Power outages occurred in the oblast. Restoration works are ongoing. In Chornomorske community, a fire broke out as a result of the attack; a private house and outbuildings were damaged. In Mykolaiv, a non-residential building and a trolleybus were damaged. There were no casualties reported.

The russian forces carried out 9 FPV drone attacks on Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities. As a result, a private house was damaged in Dmytrivka village. There were no casualties reported.

Odesa oblast

Oleh Kiper, Head of Odesa RMA, informed that 3 people were killed and 5 injured as a result of a nighttime russian attack on Odesa oblast. The victims include a truck driver and a 38-year-old man and woman. The injured include 2 women aged 64 and 72, and 3 men aged 29, 56 and 69. In Odesa oblast, drone strikes hit 3 residential buildings and 2 more were damaged. Port infrastructure was struck – buildings and equipment were damaged.

According to Kherson RMA, at night, russian forces attacked Chornomorske community. As a result of the strike, private houses and civilian infrastructure were damaged and there were casualties among residents. One private house was destroyed. About 35 private houses were damaged.

Kherson oblast

Relying on the information provided by Kherson RMA, at approximately 4:20pm, russian forces struck Dniprovskyi district of Kherson by a UAV. A 46-year-old woman who was outside sustained shrapnel wounds to the chest, arms and leg, a concussion, blast injury and a closed traumatic brain injury.

As a result of a drone strike on a car in Dniprovskyi district, a man was killed on the spot. A 63-year-old woman and men aged 48, 61, 54 and 55 were injured. They sustained concussions, blast injuries and shrapnel wounds.

Yesterday at around 9pm, russian forces attacked Dudchany village in Mylove community by a drone. 3 residents were injured: a 50-year-old man sustained blast injuries, abdominal wounds and rib fractures, a 57-year-old man sustained blast injuries, abdominal and leg wounds and a limb fracture, a 79-year-old man sustained blast injuries and a traumatic amputation of the forearm.

In the evening, 2 adults and a child were injured as a result of russian shelling of Korabelnyi district of Kherson. A 46-year-old man, a 33-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl were diagnosed with blast injuries and concussions.

A man who had sustained severe injuries in a russian drone attack in Inzhenerne died in hospital. Doctors fought for the life of the 35-year-old resident, but the injuries were incompatible with life.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

A delegation from the European Investment Bank visited Kovel. Kovel community was the 1st to apply for the energy efficiency program and became the first to have completed the work.

Zakarpattia oblast

The oblast is participating in the planning of the new Interreg Poland-Ukraine programming period for 2028–2034. The 1st meeting of the relevant working group was held in Warsaw the other day.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

79 windows have already been replaced with the assistance of the charitable organization Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) in the maternity hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk. As a reminder, the windows were broken as a result of an enemy attack.

Lviv oblast

The HART: Wheelchair Basketball competition was held in Lviv. The event brought together war veterans, players of veteran national teams, and influencers on one site. They played wheelchair basketball.

Rivne oblast

A meeting with the families of prisoners of war and missing Defenders of Ukraine took place in Rivne. The participants of the event discussed algorithms for searching for missing persons; interaction with state institutions; features of pre-trial investigation and confirmation of the fact of captivity; issues of conducting DNA examinations; social guarantees, pensions and mechanisms for receiving assistance; legal support and preparation of necessary documents.

Ternopil oblast

Ivan Drobotsky, who was released from russian captivity, returned home to Ternopil oblast. On 24 April, the soldier personally took his portrait from the Alley of Hope stand in Shumsk with missing community fighters.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

918 residents of Khmelnytskyi community will receive material assistance worth over UAH 10.2m. Among them are family members of fallen Heroes, military personnel for treatment or rehabilitation and active military personnel at their own expense.

Chernivtsi oblast

Chernivtsi joined the large-scale international campaign 1M Trees of Memory and Life. The initiative united Ukrainians in 30 countries around the world to honor the memory of those killed in the russian-Ukrainian war and at the same time restore the environment. Over 100 trees were planted in Chernivtsi as part of the campaign.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Belgium allocated €75m for the Czech initiative, €75m for air defense and €85m for a drone coalition for Ukraine.

Matviy Bidnyi, Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, and Andrea Abodi, Minister of Sports and Youth Policy of Italy, signed a Joint Action Plan for 2026–2027. The document opens up new opportunities for the development of sports and youth policy in both countries.
