On 31 May, occupying forces launched 77 assaults on the positions of Ukrainian defenders.
Enemy artillery continues to relentlessly shell the Ukrainian border areas. In Sumy oblast, Sopych, Buniakyne, Volfyne, Iskryskivshchyna, Yastrubshchyna, Bachivsk, and Malushyne came under enemy fire, while the village of Kliusy in Chernihiv oblast was also shelled.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, there were five combat engagements with one battle still ongoing. In the same areas, the enemy shelled Ukrainian positions and peaceful villages 45 times, using multiple launch rocket systems twice.
Towards Southern Sloboda, the invaders made six attempts to break through the defense lines near Lyman and Starytsia. Two fierce battles are still underway at this moment.
Towards Kupiansk, the occupiers launched three attacks in an attempt to push back Ukrainian units near Shyikivka and Kupyansk.
Towards Lyman, the aggressor was also highly active, conducting seven assaults in the vicinity of Kopanky, Novomykolaivka, Drobysheve, Lyman, and Ozerne. Two combat engagements are still ongoing here.
Towards Sloviansk, Ukrainian warriors successfully thwarted two attempts by the invaders to advance in the vicinity of Rai-Oleksandrivka.
Towards Kramatorsk and Oleksandrivka, there were no offensive operations by the occupiers.
Towards Kostiantynivka, russian units launched ten attacks, attempting to pierce defensive lines in the vicinity of Kostiantynivka, Ivanopillia, Rusyniv Yar, Mykolaivka, Pleshchiivka, and Stepanivka.
Towards Pokrovsk, the intensity of fighting remains traditionally high, where the enemy made 26 attempts to dislodge Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the vicinity of Vilne, Dorozhnie, Bilytske, Rodynske, Oleksandrivka, Hryshyne, Novooleksandrivka, Serhiivka, Kotlyne, and Udachne.
Towards Huliaipole, the Defense Forces are firmly holding their ground: nine enemy attacks were successfully repelled in the vicinity of Zaliznychne, Vozdvizhivka, Olenokostiantynivka, Huliaipilske, and Charivne, with one more battle still underway.
Towards Orikhiv, the invaders made nine unsuccessful attempts to wedge into Ukrainian defensive lines in the vicinity of Shcherbaky, Bilohirya, Nesterianka, and Stepnohirsk.
Towards Kherson, the occupiers made only one futile attempt to advance in the area of the Antonivskyi Bridge.
In other sectors of the front, there are no significant changes in the operational situation, and no attempts by the enemy to advance have been recorded.
Ukrainian defenders continue to confidently deplete the enemy’s forces both along the entire frontline and deep in their rear.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 30 May, towards Southern Sloboda, russian troops launched 10 attacks on the positions of the Defense Forces in the vicinity of Starytsia, Prylipka, Veterynarne, Lyman, and towards Izbytske, Okhrimivка, and Ternova. Towards Kupiansk, Ukrainian defenders halted three attempts by the russian army to advance in the vicinity of Kurylovka, Novooshynove, and Petropavlivka. In total, there were 302 combat engagements in the oblast.
The 16th Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in the north of Kharkiv oblast, the russians launched three airstrikes, shelled the positions of the Defense Forces and settlements 63 times, and deployed 125 kamikaze drones. The Defense Forces neutralized 26 russian servicemen, one vehicle, seven units of special equipment, 102 UAVs, and two artillery systems.
According to Serhiy Zelenskyi, Head of the Military Administration, says that over the course of 30–31 May, russian troops attacked Lozova community. The occupiers struck critical infrastructure, including facilities providing emergency medical care. No injuries were reported.
On the evening of 30 May, a russian drone struck a VAZ car in Vinnytski Ivany, Bohodukhiv community. The 51-year-old driver sustained injuries to his face, thigh, and shins, as well as a concussion. During a repeated attack, his 51-year-old wife and a paramedic who arrived to help were injured: the woman suffered a concussion, while the 59-year-old medical worker sustained an abdominal wall injury and a concussion.
Kharkiv oblast police reported that two police officers were hospitalized following a russian UAV attack in Chuhuiv region on the evening of 30 May. One officer sustained shrapnel wounds, and the other suffered a concussion. A service vehicle was also damaged.
In Postolne, Zolochiv community, a 55-year-old woman sustained a shrapnel wound to her shoulder, and an 86-year-old woman suffered an acute stress reaction as a result of an attack by two FPV drones. A private house was also damaged.
In Lozova, Borova community, 70-year-old Hanna Rybalko was killed on 30 May when a russian drone struck a civilian vehicle. A 60-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man were also injured.
In Riasne of the Zolochiv hromada, a russian FPV drone struck a car, injuring a 20-year-old and a 46-year-old woman.
In Stepne, Bohodukhiv region, a russian FPV drone attacked a car. A 21-year-old driver and a 46-year-old female passenger sustained injuries.
Near Pytomnyk, Kharkiv oblast, a russian FPV drone hit a civilian car. A 77-year-old woman and a 78-year-old man, who were traveling from Kharkiv to their dacha, sustained severe injuries and were hospitalized.
According to Mayor Volodymyr Belyi, on 30 May, the russians struck the central part of Bohodukhiv. No casualties were reported.
Russian troops attacked Liutivka with Molniya-type UAV and FPV drones. The strikes destroyed a private house and damaged another house along with outbuildings.
The State Emergency Service of Kharkiv oblast reported that in Velykyi Burluk, Kupiansk region, an abandoned building caught fire over an area of 350 square meters following a drone strike. Rescuers also extinguished fires caused by russian attacks in Berestyn, Lozova, and Kupiansk regions.
According to Kharkiv Oblast State Administration, Kharkiv and 15 settlements in the oblast came under enemy strikes. Eleven people were injured: a 61-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man in Lozova, Borova community; a 47-year-old and a 20-year-old woman in Riasne, Zolochiv community; a 46-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man in Stepne, Bohodukhiv community; a 78-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman in Ruska Lozova, Derhachi community; and men aged 51 and 59 alongside a 51-year-old woman in Dehtiari, Bohodukhiv community.

Russian troops attacked the Novobavarskyi district of Kharkiv with UAVs. Over the course of the day, the russian army deployed four Geran-2 type UAVs, one Lancet, five Molniya-type UAVs, 11 FPV drones, and 24 drones of an unidentified type across Kharkiv oblast.
In Bohodukhiv, Kupiansk, Izium, Kharkiv, and Chuhuiv regions, power grids, a garage, a summer kitchen, administrative buildings, vehicles, private houses, outbuildings, buildings, a combine harvester, and other civil infrastructure facilities were damaged.
The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 170 people over the past day. Since the start of the point’s operation, 37,093 people have been registered there.
In Kharkiv, the Bridge Hub space, founded by the charitable organization “Coordinated Humanitarian Center,” has begun operating at a new location. The secure premises can be used for education, training, and other events.
Donetsk oblast
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, towards Lyman, russian troops launched 11 attacks, seven towards Sloviansk, and 16 towards Kostiantynivka. The highest number of assaults was recorded towards Pokrovsk, where the Defense Forces repelled 46 attacks. Towards Kramatorsk, no offensive operations by the russian army were recorded.
The 81st Separate Airmobile Slobozhanska Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that towards Sloviansk, russian troops struck the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in Zakitne.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian troops hit UAV control points in the vicinity of Kalynove, Donetsk oblast, and an occupiers’ UAV workshop in Donetsk. The Defense Forces also struck concentration areas of russian servicemen in Donetsk and Zhelanne.
After midnight, russian troops struck Sloviansk three times. Two people were injured, including a child. Five private houses, a cargo delivery branch, a commercial pavilion, and a civilian vehicle were damaged.
The State Emergency Service of Donetsk oblast reported that in the morning, a russian UAV attacked a gas station in one of the regions of Sloviansk. A warehouse building also caught fire in the city as a result of shelling, and the fire was extinguished by rescuers. A night strike by a russian drone damaged the Nova Poshta branch No. 1 in Sloviansk.
For 30 May, law enforcement officers recorded 1,091 russian strikes on Donetsk oblast. Seven settlements came under fire. Twenty-six civilian objects were destroyed or damaged, including 11 residential buildings.
In Lozove, a civilian was killed and two others were injured as a result of a russian attack.
In Myrove, a russian FPV drone killed a person and damaged a tractor.
In Sloviansk, shelling damaged a commercial pavilion, a cargo delivery branch, and a civilian vehicle.
In Kramatorsk, russian troops struck with FPV drones and three KAB-250 guided bombs. An enterprise and five vehicles were damaged.
In Druzhkivka, an apartment building, nine private houses, and an administrative building were destroyed.
According to Volodymyr Rybalkin, Head of Sviatohirsk Military Administration, russian troops shell the settlements of Sviatohirsk community daily. The occupiers most frequently attack Sydorove with guided aerial bombs, where six residents remain. In total, 1,231 people live on the territory of the community.
In frontline Bilozerka, Donetsk oblast, about a thousand people still remain. All children have been evacuated from the city, but some residents are returning to their homes.

102-year-old Pavlo Seliukov is the only male long-liver in the Sloviansk community. He is a veteran of World War II, having fought his way through Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Poland, where he sustained injuries. After the war, he returned home and worked as a construction welder. Currently, Pavlo alongside his wife Halyna is living through a second war. Despite the danger and packed emergency bags, the couple has decided to stay home for now.
Lugansk oblast
The 3rd Border Detachment reported that towards Lyman, Luhansk border guards destroyed a Chinese multiple launch rocket system produced since the 1960s. Ukrainian military personnel also hit about ten russian guns.
The Third Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian military personnel took drone control over the logistics of the russian army in Lugansk oblast, specifically the occupiers’ routes in Luhansk, Starobilsk, and Alchevsk. The operation was led by a native of Luhansk oblast.
According to Milove Settlement Military Administration, Mykhailo Katsaval from the village of Morozivka, Lugansk oblast, returned from russian captivity. The man spent almost four years in russian captivity and is currently undergoing rehabilitation and recovery.
According to Luhansk Oblast State Administration, over the past day, russian troops directed 20 drones at the fortifications of Ukrainian defenders in Lugansk oblast. The occupiers struck three times with mortars, and twice each with tube artillery and automatic grenade launchers. Towards Lyman, the russian army conducted 11 assaults in the vicinity of seven settlements.
Due to the shutdown of a number of oil refineries, residents of several regions of the russian federation and the temporarily occupied territories have begun to experience fuel shortages. Supply disruptions of gasoline are already being recorded at certain gas stations, and the introduction of restrictions is expected.
In Sievierodonetsk, local residents increasingly refuse to work on housing reconstruction. For almost four years, various contractors have failed to settle accounts with many city residents hired for construction work. The occupation administration and russian law enforcement agencies are not reacting to the situation, and people refuse to work without pay.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
According to Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, the ‘Clear Sky’ project is underway in ]Kyiv oblast, in which specially trained crews intercept russian drones using ‘ground-to-air’ tactics. In addition, new technological solutions are being implemented to strengthen air defence. It involves the development of the aviation component for intercepting enemy drones and the coordination of units working with unmanned systems. The vast majority of the equipment, drones and software solutions used in this work are of Ukrainian production.
According to the State Emergency Service, efforts are ongoing to deal with the aftermath of the russian shelling of Kyiv on the night of 24 May. Rescue workers in Kyiv oblast are still clearing the rubble of the State Emergency Service’s headquarters building.

According to the Kyiv Animal Rescue Group, the injured cat found on 27 May whilst clearing rubble in an industrial area in Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district did not survive. The animal had spent three days trapped under the rubble following a russian missile attack on the night of 24 May. It was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
Ukrzaliznytsia is conducting first-aid training for its staff. A total of 4,000 railway workers have completed the basic course. Train managers are currently undergoing more advanced training in Kyiv.
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko announced that on Kyiv’s birthday, celebrated annually on the last Sunday in May for the 33rd consecutive year, the annual ‘Run Under the Chestnut Trees’ charity sports event took place. The marathon was attended by Kyiv residents, servicemen from the National Guard of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Army’s Ground Forces, and rescuers from the State Emergency Service. Also, for the first time this year, a team from the EU Delegation joined the run “as a sign of support for Ukraine’s European integration course”.
The Rehabilitation Centre at Feofaniya Hospital is implementing a original music therapy method developed by Ukrainian musician and multi-instrumentalist Mykyta Rubchenko in collaboration with the hospital’s rehabilitation team. The method is based on the use of sound, rhythm, movement coordination, neuroplasticity and artistic elements as tools for recovery.
Zhytomyr oblast
Vitaliy Bunechko, head of the Regional State Administration, reported that over the past 24 hours, on 30 May, the enemy launched repeated attacks on Zhytomyr oblast. Critical infrastructure and civilian industrial facilities in the Korosten district were targeted. There are no reports of casualties or injuries. Fires caused by the shelling were quickly extinguished by State Emergency Service (SES) rescue teams. Work is ongoing to clear up the aftermath of the enemy strikes.
The city council reported on the morning of 31 May that the Ovruch community is without electricity following the russian federation’s attack. According to preliminary information, restoring the power supply will take a lot of time.
The Regional Military Administration reported that a shooting tournament took place in Zhytomyr oblast, bringing together representatives of the oblast’s security forces, military units and law enforcement agencies. Fifteen teams took part in the competition, demonstrating a high level of preparation, professionalism, resilience and true team spirit.
Sumy oblast
Serhii Kryvosheienko, Head of City Military Administration, reported that a russian Molniya drone hit a private household in Stetskivskyi starosta district of Sumy community. A storeroom burned down, and buildings of neighbouring households were damaged. No people were injured.
Artem Semenikhin, Mayor of Konotop, said that on the morning of 31 May, electricity supply was cut off in Konotop and the region due to russian strikes on neighbouring communities. Water supply was also absent in the regional centre. It was restored at 10am after switching to power from generators.
The Regional Military Administration informed on the morning of 31 May that two people were injured in enemy strikes on Sumy oblast over the past day. In Krasnopillia community, a 58-year-old man was injured when an enemy drone hit a car. In Shostka community, a 78-year-old man was injured in a russian UAV strike.
Over the day, from the morning of 30 May to the morning of 31 May, russian troops carried out almost 70 attacks on 36 settlements in 16 territorial communities of Sumy oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, MLRS, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Air-raid alerts in the oblast lasted 21 hours and 33 minutes over the day.
Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:
▪️in Krasnopillia community, a private residential house was destroyed, and an administrative building and a private car were damaged;
▪️in Velyka Pysarivka community, an outbuilding was damaged;
▪️in Bilopollia community, a private car was destroyed and a private residential house was damaged;
▪️in Sumy community, a car was destroyed, and a private residential house and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;
▪️in Shostka community, a private residential house was damaged;
▪️in Hlukhiv community, premises of a medical facility, a private residential house and outbuildings were damaged;
▪️in Esman community, a private residential house was destroyed;
▪️in Shalyhyne community, a private residential house was destroyed.
Olena Sharkova, starosta of Myropilska community, said that all settlements of Myropillia community remain under the control of Ukrainian forces, commenting on information spread by russian sources. According to her, the situation in Myropillia itself remains critical. About 85% of housing stock has been destroyed, and municipal institutions have also been destroyed. Of more than 2,000 residents, only five people, mostly elderly, remain in the village. Around 60 residents currently live in the entire community.
Chernihiv oblast
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that during the day on 30 May, border guards shot down 49 russian drones in the sky over Chernihiv oblast. These included 38 Shaheds and 11 Herberas.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine informed that a 58-year-old man was killed as a result of a russian UAV attack on a company in Koriukivka region overnight on 31 May. Lorries were also damaged by the fire. The strike caused a fire in a car park. Seven lorries were destroyed by fire. Rescuers found the body of the killed man while dealing with the aftermath of the attack.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, said that a lorry and a trailer with tanks were destroyed in villages of Horodnia community by enemy Herbera UAV strikes. A house was damaged in Semenivka by an FPV drone strike.

According to Chernihiv Border Detachment, during the day on 30 May, russian troops attacked four border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar attacks with 11 explosions, tube artillery attacks with three explosions, a Lancet UAV strike with one explosion, and FPV drone strikes with nine explosions. Ten settlements came under enemy fire.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that a fire broke out in Novooleksandrivka community as a result of a UAV attack. An agricultural enterprise and an outbuilding were damaged.
Two men were injured in Chervonohryhorivka community. The enemy struck the region by MLRS, artillery and drones. The regional centre, Marhanets, Chervonohryhorivka and Pokrovske rural communities were targeted. A kindergarten, a medical facility, five apartment buildings, private houses, an outbuilding and a car were damaged.
Occupying forces struck Petropavlivka and Mezhove communities by UAVs. A garage was damaged. A fire broke out in Pavlohrad as a result of a UAV attack. A private house and infrastructure were damaged.
A 50-year-old woman was killed in Chervonohryhorivka community. Nikopol, Marhanets, Pokrovske rural and Tomakivka communities were also struck. Four more people were injured. Fires broke out, and an arts school, a petrol station, an apartment building, an administrative building, three cars and infrastructure were damaged. Five people were injured in the region.
Two apartment buildings and five cars were damaged in Vasylkivka community as a result of a guided aerial bomb strike. Pokrovske community was also hit by FPV drones.
Vinnytsia oblast
In Vasylivka village, Tyvriv community, two defenders released from russian captivity, Vadym Shataliuk and Vasyl Panchenko, were welcomed home. Relatives, friends and community residents came to meet the servicemen.
Cherkasy oblast
A rally in support of prisoners of war and missing soldiers, Do Not Be Silent — Captivity Kills, was held in Cherkasy. About 100 people gathered, including relatives and friends of defenders, concerned residents and a motorcade of around a dozen cars.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 30 May, the Defence Forces of Ukraine repelled 47 russian attacks on Huliaipole and Orikhiv regions . In particular, combat clashes took place near Dobropillia, Varvarivka, Zaliznychne, Olenokostiantynivka, Bilohirya, as well as toward Vozdvyzhivka, Verkhnia Tersa, Huliaipilske and Charivne.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that 2 people were killed and 7 injured as a result of russian attacks on the regional centre and Zaporizhzhia oblast. A 61-year-old man was injured in a drone attack on a car in Komyshuvakha yesterday, while a 50-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman were injured in a drone strike on Mariivka. On 30 May, russian troops carried out more than 970 strikes on 55 settlements of Zaporizhzhia oblast. The occupiers attacked mostly by UAVs (primarily FPV drones).
Mykolaiv oblast
Based on the information provided by Mykolaiv RMA, on 30 May, the russian military attacked Kutsurub community by UAVs. As a result of the attack, a house was damaged in Dmytrivka village.
Odesa oblast
The Air Command South reported that on the night of 30 May, interceptor drone crews of the Air Command South destroyed 28 russian Shahed and Gerbera-type UAVs in Odesa oblast.
Kherson oblast
Referring to Kherson RMA, a 38-year-old woman who was injured today after a russian drone hit a car near Nadiivka sustained a mine-blast injury and a closed shoulder fracture.
Yesterday evening, after a UAV hit a house in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson, a 70-year-old man suffered a blast injury and a shrapnel wound to his leg.
A 47-year-old resident of Bilozirka, whose house was hit during the day on 29 May by a russian “Molniia” UAV, was hospitalised with a blast injury and concussion.
Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Volyn oblast
Hero Oleksandr Belov, born in 1988, from Novovolynsk, returns to Volyn on the shield. The Hero was considered missing. After an examination, he was declared dead on 25 December 2025 in Donetsk oblast.
Zakarpattia oblast
The RMA reported that a resident of Uzhhorod who has made special contributions to the Motherland will receive UAH 300,000 in one-time financial assistance. The name is not being disclosed.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Chargers were handed over to the military in Donetsk direction from Tysmenytsia community.
Lviv oblast
Donations were sent from Rudkivska community for brigades 141 and 80 from the Greek Catholic community of the village of Vankovychi, women temporarily living in Italy (Arona) and other caring residents.
Rivne oblast
Rivne oblast is under attack again. Thanks to the professional work of the air defense forces, enemy air targets have been shot down. During another attack, a non-working enterprise was targeted. People and infrastructure were not harmed.
Ternopil oblast
The 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade received 2 sets of DJI Matrice quadcopters from Ternopil community.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Almost 900 residents of Khmelnytskyi community received material assistance worth over UAH 10.5m. Among them are family members of fallen Heroes; families of prisoners of war and missing persons; veterans and military personnel for rehabilitation; active military personnel for their own needs and households for the elimination of the consequences of enemy attacks.
Chernivtsi oblast
The RMA reported that UAH 730,000 was raised during a charity dinner and auction in support of the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine Azov.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian President, announced that Ukraine has received another launcher for the IRIS-T air defense system.
According to CNBC, the 1st prototypes of Foundation Future Industries’ dual-purpose autonomous humanoid robots are already undergoing testing in Ukraine. They are being tested in dangerous areas for delivering and transporting goods. The Foundation plans to send improved Phantom 2 robots to Ukraine this year.
