Ukraine’s defence forces are holding back russian occupiers’ offensive and taking the necessary measures to prevent the enemy from advancing deeper into Ukrainian territory.
On 24 November, the number of combat engagements was 122.
Communities of Solianyky, Khrinivka, Basivka, Zhuravka, Novenke, Oleksandriia, Volfine, Obody and Tymofiivka in Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts suffered from enemy artillery and mortar fire.
Towards Kharkiv, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian units twice near Tykhe and Vovchansk, repelled one attack, and the firefight is ongoing. Enemy aircraft also attacked Hranove with bombs.
Towards Kupiansk, russian occupants attacked the Ukrainian defence forces eight times in the vicinity of Novomlynsk, Kolisnykivka, Kruhliakivka, Senkove and Lozova.
Towards Lyman, the invading army launched 19 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Druzheliubivka, Hrekivka, Novoiehorivka, Terny, Yampolivka, Torske and Serebrianka, and three firefights are still ongoing. Ukrainian troops are steadfastly holding the line and inflicting losses on the enemy.
Towards Kramatorsk, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled four attacks by russian invaders near Chasiv Yar and Stupochky.
Towards Toretsk, the aggressor made six attempts to advance in the vicinity of Diliivka, Toretsk and Shcherbynivka, and one combat engagement is ongoing.
Towards Pokrovsk, russian invaders made 16 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the vicinity of Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Hryhorivka, Dachenske, Pustynka and Chumatske. The defence forces are holding back the onslaught and repelled 12 enemy attacks, with four combat engagements still ongoing.
Towards Kurakhove, the enemy army attacked 34 times near the settlements of Berestky, Sontsivka, Novodmytrivka, Zoria, Kurakhove, Dalne, Romanivka, Yelizavetivka and Hanivka. Twenty-three enemy attempts to advance were repelled, and fighting continues.
Towards Vremivka, five enemy attacks continued near Trudove, Novosilka and Makarivka. Ukrainian defenders repelled eight occupiers’ attacks in this area.
Towards Kherson, the enemy tried to attack the positions of Ukrainian units once without success.
The operation in Kursk oblast continues. Enemy aircraft continue to destroy Ukrainian villages and towns. russian aircraft carried out 18 strikes, dropping 21 drones on their own territory. The defence forces repelled 12 attacks by russian occupation forces in this area, and the fighting continues.
The situation in other sectors remained unchanged.
Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office reports that in the city of Toretsk, russian military killed two women and wounded a man. The occupiers shot civilians hiding in an apartment. Once again, russia has cynically violated the norms of international law.
The Center for National Resistance says that repressions against pro-Ukrainian children in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine have intensified. Special attention is paid to responsibility for dissemination of information that, according to russia, discredits the “russian world.”
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
Viktor Kovalenko, Head of Zolochiv community, reports that as a result of the russian strikes on Odnorobivka on the evening of November 23, 7 apartment buildings, the premises of Starostyn region, an outpatient clinic, a culture house, a private enterprise, energy and gas networks were damaged.
Roman Semenukha, Deputy Head of the regional administration, reports that more than a thousand people have joined the training at the Center of National Resistance of Kharkiv region since its opening. In 2025, it is planned to accept another 1,200 people for training. There is a plan to increase the number of the Center’s branches and strengthen the material, technical and personnel base.
The day before, at 23:40, Bohodukhiv region, Zolochiv community, was shelled. As a result of the shelling (2 KABs) hit in open terrain near the village of Udy, and 1 KAB in open terrain near the village of Odnorobivka.
Towards Kharkiv, there were 13 combat clashes with russian invaders. Eleven attacks in Vovchansk and Tykhe regions were repelled by Ukrainian soldiers, two more are ongoing.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy tried 12 times to displace Ukrainian units from the occupied positions near Hlushkivka, Synkivka, Zahryzove, Novoplatonivka, Kindrashivka, Pishchane and Zelenyi Hai.
38 people were evacuated from Kupiansk and Borova directions.
Donetsk oblast
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that russian troops are trying to move towards Pokrovsk through the village of Dachenske. The largest buildup of russian attackswas recorded near this settlement, in total, russians attacked Pokrovsk sector of the front 55 times.
Towards Kurakhove, Ukrainian defenders repelled 47 russian attacks, in particular near Berestky, Dalne, Zori, Kurakhove, Katerynivka and Antonivka. The russian army conducted another 26 assaults towards Vremivka. The occupiers tried to advance near Velyka Novosilka, Trudove, Sukhi Yali and Rivnopillia. Towards Lyman, there were 17 battles during the day, in particular in the vicinity of Hrekivka, Novomykhailivka, Cherneshchyna, Kopanky, Yampolivka and Terny.
Ivan Buryak, chief sergeant of the 93rd brigade “Kholodny Yar”, says that russian troops increased the intensity of attacks towards Bakhmut. The most difficult situation is in Chasiv Yar and Toretsk.
Vadym Lyakh, Head of Sloviansk RMA, says that about 50 thousand people still remain in the city, including almost five thousand children. Hospitals are working, critical infrastructure, but shelling is becoming more frequent.
Orest Drymalovskyi, representative of the press service of the 79th ODShBr, informs that Ukrainian paratroopers repelled a mechanized assault towards Kurakhove. russians used 21 units of equipment, including 17 infantry fighting vehicles and four tanks. The fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed seven armoured vehicles and one tank, the russians had to retreat.
Yevhen Kaplin, Head of the Proliska humanitarian mission, says that in November, the mission evacuated the most people from Donetsk oblast. At the same time, the number of residents of the front-line region who are evacuated in the autumn compared to the summer months has decreased.
The Center of National Resistance reported that in Mariupol, russian occupiers are distributing apartments to migrants. In this way, they are trying to compensate for the lack of money to pay salaries to construction workers.
Operational situation in the region as of the morning of November 24:
Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk RMA, reported that there is no information about the victims during the day.
Pokrovsky region. In Pokrovsk, an outbuilding and a gas pipeline were damaged. Hrodno community was under fire.
Kramatorsk region. In the Zory of the Illinivska community, 5 objects were damaged. The outskirts of Kostiantynivka and Lyman communities were shelled.
Bakhmut region. In Siversk, 4 houses were damaged, and another 2 in Dronivka. In Chasiv Yar community, 9 private houses, a high-rise building, and 2 non-residential premises were damaged.
On 24 November, 120 people were evacuated from the front line, including 9 children.
Luhansk oblast
The invaders tried to advance to Bilohorivka, where the Ukrainian military repelled another enemy assault. russians also attacked near Hrekivka, Novoiehorivka and Tverdokhlibove. They struck Tverdokhlibove with unguided aircraft missiles. They fired artillery at Hrekivka. The invaders sent 29 drones towards the frontline villages and fortifications of Ukrainian soldiers.
Luhansk RMA reported that new restrictions were introduced by Roskomnadzor regarding the use of VPN services. Starting from November 30, 2024 and until September 2029, any information related to the operation of such services and circumvention of the blocking of resources, access to which russians have blocked, will be blocked on the territory of the russian federation, including in the occupied regions. For almost five years, it has been prohibited to publish scientific, scientific-technical and statistical information on this subject.
Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk RMA, reports that at the beginning of 2022, 124 emergency ambulance teams worked in the so-called “lpr”. They have only 85 ambulance teams. That is, during this time, the number of employees has decreased by almost a third. The staff is only 49%. The reductions continue.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Ruslan Kravchenko, head of the RMA, reported that an industrial enterprise was damaged in Kyiv oblast as a result of another enemy attack. A fire broke out at the facility due to the fall of UAV debris, which rescuers quickly extinguished.
The RMA informed that the enemy attacked with UAVs at night and in the morning. The attack lasted more than 6 hours. The fall of the debris was recorded outside the settlements in open areas. There were no hits to critical or residential infrastructure or casualties among the population.
KCMA reported that at night, enemy UAVs attacked the capital, with an air alert lasting more than 3 hours. The Defence Forces detected and neutralised more than a dozen drones that threatened Kyiv.
The Information Department of the UGCC reported that a centre for healing the wounds of war for IDPs was opened in Boryspil at the parish of the Holy and Equal-to-the-Apostles Volodymyr and Olga of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. The Centre regularly organises meetings for IDPs, helps them with food, hot lunches, and provides spiritual and educational support.
On Saturday, a special event for children and their parents – the ‘Paw in the Palm’ canisterapy – took place at Borodianka HAB. The event was organised by the Ukrainian Women’s Guard to provide psychological support to residents of the de-occupied territories during the war: communication with dogs, joint games and a warm atmosphere helped the participants to relieve themselves psychologically and find new sources of inspiration.
In Kyiv, a weekly action in support of captured and missing soldiers ‘Don’t be silent! Captivity Kills’ took place. Several dozen concerned people, relatives and friends of prisoners of war and missing soldiers lined up along Konstantinovskaya Street with placards in their hands. Passing cars honked their horns in support.
The Third Brigade presented clips of the EPOCH project and will conduct a concert presentation to be held on 7 December in Kyiv. 8 artists and 8 directors created unique videos for the collaboration album with the Third Assault Brigade. All proceeds will be used to purchase an APC.
Zhytomyr oblast
The Resilience Centre in Zhytomyr hosted a roundtable discussion on the provision of prosthetic and orthopaedic devices to people with disabilities, including those who became disabled as a result of the war. The event was held in a mixed format – offline and via video conference. The discussion focused on the current issues of providing modern prosthetic and orthopedic devices, as well as developing a roadmap to optimise the process.
On 23 November, the regional qualifying stage of the Veterans Games took place in Zhytomyr, where the winners would take part in the final competition in Kyiv. CrossFit includes a set of exercises for 13 categories of athletes, depending on disability and limitations of the musculoskeletal system.
Sumy oblast
Valentyna Nazarenko, Head of Romny Regional Administration, reported that during the night of 24 November, russian missile exploded in the air on the outskirts of the village in Korovyntsi community in Romny region. Two private residential houses were damaged, with 11 windows shattered. No casualties were reported.
At night russians carried out 2 shelling attacks on Khotin community. 6 explosions by artillery and 5 explosions from tank were recorded.
On 23 November, russians carried out 16 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 69 explosions. The attacks targeted Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropilia, Bilopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, and Seredyna-Buda communities.
Myropillia community: the enemy struck by artillery (25 explosions), FPV-drone (1 explosion).
Khotin community: russians struck by artillery (24 explosions), FPV-drones (3 explosions).
Bilopillia community: the enemy dropped 2 mines on the territory of the community.
Yunakivka community: artillery shelling was carried out (7 explosions).
Seredyna-Buda community: an FPV-drone attack was carried out (1 explosion).
Velyka Pysarivka community: russians dropped 6 mines on the territory of the community.
Sumy Regional Military Administration informed that 52 laptops and tablets were delivered to educational institutions in the Lebedyn community to support children’s education. The modern gadgets for students in Sumy oblast were provided with the assistance of the charitable organization ‘Olena Zelenska Foundation.’ The laptops and tablets are intended for internally displaced children, orphans, and children deprived of parental care.
Chernihiv oblast
Police of the Chernihiv oblast reported that on the afternoon of 24 November, the russian army carried out airstrikes on Chernihiv oblast.
In Koriukivka region, two explosions were recorded, resulting in damage to outbuildings. Additionally, a 28-year-old local resident was injured and hospitalised in one of the local medical facilities.
In Chernihiv region, residential buildings were also damaged as a result of an explosion. No reports of casualties have been received.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, announced that Veronika Korets, a student of Chernihiv Oblast School of Higher Sports Excellence, won silver at the European Boxing Championship among Balkan countries. The athlete competed in the 60 kg weight category.
Berezna Village Council and Borzna Territorial Community informed that on 23 November, in Chernihiv oblast residents paid tribute to two soldiers: Volodymyr Saluian and Yaroslav Kuralenia.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, said that in the evening of 22 November and at night, the occupiers shelled Nikopol region twice. The region centre was attacked by two kamikaze drones. During the day, the enemy attacked Nikopol region several times with kamikaze drones and artillery.
The occupiers targeted the district centre, Chervonohryhorivka and Pokrov communities. Infrastructure was damaged.
Vinnytsia oblast
In the week from 18 to 24 November, Vinnytsia oblast lost 19 defenders of Ukraine.
Kirovohrad oblast
In Kropyvnytskyi, three volunteers sew tactical blankets, clothing, adaptive underwear and thermal underwear for the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They have been doing this in their spare time in the sewing workshop of the engineering college since 2022. They receive money for materials thanks to donors.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, reported that the Air Armed Forces destroyed two Shahed drones in Cherkasy oblast.
A rally in support of prisoners of war and missing persons “Don’t be silent – captivity kills” was held in Cherkasy. Relatives, friends of the defenders, volunteers, military personnel and concerned citizens gathered on Soborna Square.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), russian forces continued ground assaults in western Zaporizhzhia oblast on 22 and 23 November, including near Kamianske, but made no advances. Positional battles are ongoing near Kamianske, but no changes to the front line have been recorded.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, reported that on 23 November, russian forces carried out 144 strikes across 11 towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. There were no casualties or injuries reported. Among the attacks, 94 artillery strikes targeted Lobkove, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria and Novodarivka.
Mykolaiv oblast
According to the RMA, during the day on 23 November and in the morning of 24 November, there were no attacks in Mykolaiv oblast.
Odesa oblast
According to the Air Force, as of 8:51pm on 23 November, UAVs were spotted in Odesa oblast near the border with Mykolaiv oblast.
Kherson oblast
According to the RMA, russian forces shelled Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. An 83-year-old resident was hospitalised in critical condition. The woman was outside during the attack, suffered a partial traumatic amputation of her forearm, a concussion, explosive injuries and cranial trauma.
Roman Mrochko, Head of the CMA, informed that russian forces shelled Zelenivka near Kherson, damaging residential buildings. Preliminary reports indicate one injury.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, stated that on 23 November, russian forces targeted 6 settlements in Kherson oblast, damaging 2 apartment buildings and 2 private houses. 1 person was injured.

Volyn oblast
Lutsk community sent a EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max charging station and the Sinytsia 3.5K EW device to the Military Unit A1008.
Zakarpattia oblast
The Owl’s Nest Humanitarian Aid Center provided IDPs registered in Uzhgorod with 14 packages with necessary things for children under 1 year old and 50 bags with grocery sets. During the week, volunteers gave out clothes, shoes, bed linen and dishes (1,534 items) from the PDUM Partnerschaft Deutschland-Ukraine/Moldova e. V., Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen / Wings of Help eV and other benefactors.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine reported that UFAIR, a joint air quality project with Finland, was launched in Ukraine. Implementation of the project will help to provide citizens with reliable information about the state of air quality and in the future will provide an opportunity to improve the ecological situation in Ukraine. The Ukrhydrometeorolohical Center, KMDA, Ivano-Frankivsk RMA, Ivano-Frankivsk City Council, Sumy RMA and Lviv RMA are involved in the implementation of the project.
Lviv oblast
A memorial plaque was installed in memory of Volodymyr Demkiv, Commander of the 3rd Division of the Machine Gun Platoon of the 68th Separate hunting Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush. The sign was installed on the facade of the local gymnasium № 9, the city of Boryslav, to honour the memory of its graduates. Volodymyr Demkiv was killed on 28 March near the village of Semenivka, Donetsk oblast.
Rivne oblast
Residents of Rivne, whose homes were damaged by the enemy attack on 17 November, will receive financial support from the United Nations. In total, 97 people from 47 families applied to the Sustainability Center during the day to receive funds. Each will receive UAH 10,800 from the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
Ternopil oblast
In Borsukiv community, the family of fallen defender Mykola Tkachuk was presented with the III degree For Courage Order (posthumously). The soldier gave his life in the war against the russian aggressor, defending the freedom and independence of Ukraine.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Since the beginning of 2024, Khmelnytskyi community has sent over 170 EW and REP complexes, over 6,300 FPV drones and about 580 UAVs of various modifications.
Chernivtsi oblast
Sergeant Vasyl Koval was posthumously awarded with the III degree For Courage Order. The military man performed the tasks of the mountain-assault department in one of the military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The defender was killed on 7 October 2022 during a battle in Kherson oblast. For almost a year and a half, soldier Vasyl Koval was considered missing.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
The participating countries of the security summit announced the allocation of $44m to the Grain From Ukraine program.
South Korea will allocate $6m to support the Grain From Ukraine initiative. Plans regarding the allocation of funds for the initiative of the World Food Program to provide Ukrainian grain to countries vulnerable to hunger and drought were announced by the second deputy minister of foreign affairs of South Korea, Kang Insun, at the meeting of the initiative.
Bill Blair, Canada’s Defense Minister, announced that the NASAMS air defence system arrived in Ukraine from Canada. The Minister also emphasised that the latest air defence system will be a decisive factor for Ukraine, as it will allow Ukrainians to protect their settlements.
Mette Frederiksen, Prime Minister of Denmark, announced that the country will sent 2 batches of F-16 fighters to Ukraine.
The US introduced new sanctions against the russian banking sector, namely, gazprombank and its 6 foreign subsidiaries were sanctioned. The US Treasury noted that this bank is a channel through which russia purchases military equipment to wage war against Ukraine.
Lloyd Austin, Head of the Pentagon, announced that the US will send anti-personnel mines to Ukraine to deter russian troops. He emphasised that the new mines are temporary and controlled, which makes them safer compared to self-made ones. The decision to provide anti-personnel mines was caused by a change in russian tactics on the front line.
In Poland, a collection of Christmas gifts for Ukrainian children was announced. Holiday Without A Father is a traditional holiday collection of gifts for children orphaned by the war in Ukraine and those forced to spend Christmas on the front lines. It was organised by the UNITERS foundation. The goal is to collect more than 150,000 zlotys for gifts for children (blankets, warmers, thermal mugs, vitamins, toys and sweets).
