In total, there have been 190 combat clashes since the beginning of this day. Ukrainian defenders continue to resolutely repel enemy attempts to advance deeper into our territory.
Russian invaders carried out 10 air strikes, dropping 31 guided bombs. In addition, they used 2,924 kamikaze drones and carried out 2,853 shelling attacks on the positions of our troops and populated areas.
Six attacks by russian invaders took place towards North Slobozhanske and Kursk. The enemy carried out 110 shellings of our troops’ positions and populated areas, two of which were with multiple launch rocket systems.
Today, the enemy attacked the positions of our defenders six times towards South Slobozhanske direction in the areas of the settlements of Sotnytskyi Kozachok, Vovchansk, Dvorichanske, and in the direction of Vilcha and Kolodiazne.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy carried out nine offensive actions in the areas of the settlements of Pishchane, Zahryzove, and in the direction of Kurylivka, Novoplatonivka, and Kupiansk.
Towards Lyman, the Defence Forces repelled nine enemy assaults in the areas of the settlements of Serednie, Novoselivka, Myrne and towards the settlements of Nadiia, Cherneshchyna, Drobysheve, and Stavy.
Towards Sloviansk, the enemy attacked six times near Dronivka, Siversk, and Serebrianka.
No combat clashes were recorded towards Kramatorsk today.
Towards Kostiantynivka, 23 combat clashes took place today. The enemy stormed the positions of Ukrainian units in the areas of the settlements of Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar, Shcherbynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Kleban-Byk, Sofiivka, and seven combat clashes are still ongoing.
Towards Pokrovsk, since the beginning of the day, the enemy has attacked 56 times in the areas of the settlements of Myrnohrad, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Rivne, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetsk, Filiia, and in the direction of Sukhetske, Hryshyne, Novopidhorodnie, and Novopavlivka. In some locations, fighting continues to this day.
According to preliminary data, 174 occupiers were neutralised in this direction today, 132 of whom were killed. In addition, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed three vehicles, three pieces of special equipment, four UAVs, and our defenders also hit eight enemy personnel shelters. An enemy tank, two vehicles, and a motorcycle were damaged.
Towards Oleksandrivka, Ukrainian defenders repelled 10 attacks by the invaders in the areas of the settlements of Vorone, Oleksandrohrad, Rybne, Zlahoda, Pryvilne, and in the direction of Iskra, Vyshneve, Oleksiivka. Two more combat engagements are still ongoing.
Towards Huliaipole, the aggressor made 12 attempts to advance on the positions of our troops in the areas of Solodke, Varvarivka, Huliaipole and towards Zelene.
Towards Orikhiv, our defenders repelled 10 attacks in the areas of Shcherbaky, Stepove, Plavni, and towards Lukianivske and Primorske. Enemy aircraft struck Vozdvyzhivka, Stepnogorsk, Lysogirka, Malokaterynivka, Liubytske, Barvinivka, and Zaliznychne.
No combat engagements have been recorded towards Kherson at this time.
Viktor Trehubov, Head of the communications department of the Joint Forces Group, reported that in Hrabovske, Sumy oblast, where russia has taken 52 Ukrainians hostage, border battles continue. Russian troops have advanced about a kilometre from their state border. At the same time, the distances in this area do not allow for the creation of a classic line of demarcation, since “it is impossible to place Ukrainian troops between the russians and the village because there is simply no space between them”.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
According to the General Staff’s report at 10pm, russia launched nine attacks in the areas of Pishchane, Zahryzove, towards Kurylivka, Novoplatonivka, and Kupiansk. The occupiers carried out six more attacks in the areas of the settlements of Sotnytskyi Kozachok, Vovchansk, Dvorichanske, and towards Vilcha and Kolodiazne.
Over the past day, 223 combat clashes were recorded.
Towards South Slobozhanske, the Defence Forces repelled 16 enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Vovchansk, Prylipka, Dvorichanske and towards Izbytske, Vilcha and Obukhivka.
Six attacks by the occupiers took place towards Kupiansk. The Defence Forces repelled enemy assaults in the direction of Kurylivka, Petropavlivka, Pishchane, and Hlushevka.
Andrii Kanashevych, Head of Kupiansk Regional Military Administration, said that Geran-2 UAVs attacked the village of Prykolotne in Vilkhuvatka community around midnight on 22 December. According to him, five houses, farm buildings and infrastructure facilities were damaged. No information about injuries or casualties has been received.
Over the past day, two settlements in Kharkiv oblast were hit by enemy strikes. There were no casualties as a result of the shelling.
In Bohodukhiv region, three apartment buildings, 12 private houses, two farm buildings, a school building and power lines (Odnorobivka) were damaged.
According to Viktor Kovalenko, Head of Zolochiv community, a russian drone hit a two-storey four-apartment building in Baranivka at around 8pm on 21 December. There were no casualties. Two families living in the building were evacuated.

The transit evacuation point in Lozova took in 52 people in one day. Twenty people remain.
Oleksandr Hololobov, Head of Mala Danylivka Community, informed that there are plans to build a radiation shelter at the State Biotechnological University. It will be used by both students and pupils from a nearby lyceum, where technical standards make it impossible to build their own shelter.
The Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service stated that near Zolochiv, traffic has been restored on a road that was damaged by a russian missile strike. Forty-four tonnes of sand and gravel mixture and more than seven tonnes of hot asphalt concrete were used to repair the road surface.
In Kharkiv, relatives and friends of the deceased climbers Oleksandr Zakolodnyu and Hryhorii Hryhoriev restored the Vertical climbing wall to continue their work and honour their memory. The facility was damaged after a russian strike in September 2024, but it was quickly repaired at the expense of the climbing community and volunteers. Zakolodnyi and Hryhoriev went to war at the beginning of the full-scale invasion and died in January 2023 in Donetsk oblast. Now, training and charity classes for children, including military families, are once again being held at the climbing centre.
Donetsk oblast
In the morning, russian troops in several columns of armoured vehicles attempted to storm Dobropillia.
According to the Azov 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine, six tanks and 15 units of various heavy armoured vehicles were destroyed.
Donetsk oblast has allocated over UAH 4.1 bn for defence this year. Almost $1.4 bn came from the regional budget, with the rest coming from local budgets. The RMA reportedhthat this is the highest figure in Ukraine.
On 21 December, the police recorded 1,627 russian strikes on the front line and residential areas.
Four settlements were under attack: Druzhkivka, Pokrovsk, Sloviansk, and Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka.
Five civilian objects were destroyed,
including three residential buildings.
The russians directed FPV drones at Druzhkivka, damaging a house.
As a result of enemy strikes in Pokrovsk and Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, one private house was damaged in each location.

Luhansk oblast
Russian troops carried out 19 assaults in the Lyman direction and five more towards Sloviansk. The fighting affected 11 settlements; the enemy used mortars four times, automatic grenade launchers seven times, and actively used UAVs.
In Lysychansk, a local mobile network was introduced to call emergency services without prior quality checks. During one of the calls, the phone was reconfigured for about 30 minutes, and the call was mistakenly routed to Novoaidar, 50 km away, as a result of which the ambulance did not arrive in time and the person died.
In the occupied “lpr”, after more than 11 years, they announced the need to clean the entrances to apartment buildings. The work is planned to be transferred to a single management company without additional funding — at the expense of reducing other services.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
In Kyiv, a major renovation of the Kyiv City Rehabilitation Center “Askold” is nearing completion, the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) reported. The center is located in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the city. It will become a modern, barrier-free, and functional space for people with disabilities and military personnel. The center will provide social, psychological, and professional support. Visitors will also be able to undergo vocational rehabilitation and acquire independent living skills.
This Sunday, an intensive training titled “Rehabilitation, Recovery, Safety, and Self-Defense in Crisis Situations” was held in the capital, organized by the Ukrainian Women’s Guard (UWG). Such trainings are held regularly, twice a month, helping women gain essential skills of confidence and self-protection. The training was built on a combination of psychological support and practical self-defense techniques.
On December 21, people gathered in Kyiv for a rally in support of prisoners of war and missing servicemen. The event took place at Sofia Square, where Ukraine’s main Christmas tree is installed. Most of the servicemen whose families attended the rally on December 21 are missing in action in the Pokrovsk direction. The demonstration brought together several hundred people—relatives of soldiers from various units.
An art therapy event for female service members and women veterans was held at the premises of the Solomianskyi District State Administration. The author of the project is Alina Pyrenko, an officer of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Before the full-scale invasion, she worked in the field of art and art therapy.
At Kyiv’s Central Railway Station, the art installation “Share the Light” has been launched. The author of the project, Mykola Kabluka—a Ukrainian artist, lighting designer, founder, and art director of Expolight—dedicated the installation to Ukrainians who, because of the war, suffer from power outages and are forced to fight darkness. Any visitor to the station can control the installation using their smartphone by scanning a QR code placed on stands near the main entrance to the station.
Zhytomyr oblast
On the night of December 22, 2025, the Russian army attacked critical infrastructure facilities in Zhytomyr region. Several civilians were injured and taken to medical facilities. This was reported by the head of the Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Bunechko. According to him, SES pyrotechnicians inspected the impact sites, rescuers extinguished fires, and restoration works are ongoing.
On the morning of December 22, a freight train derailed near Korosten. As reported by Ukrzaliznytsia, preliminary information indicates that the freight train was damaged as a result of a detonation—likely caused by a Shahed-type UAV. Four Ukrzaliznytsia employees were injured and taken to the Korosten Central City Hospital. Due to the accident, a number of trains were delayed by up to three hours, including trains arriving from Poland.
On December 22, during an air raid alert announced in Korosten district, the Russian army carried out a repeated strike using Shahed drones on the site where emergency response and recovery works were being conducted at one of the critical infrastructure facilities in Zhytomyr region. This was reported by the head of the Korosten District Military Administration. At the scene were services involved in eliminating the consequences of the accident—civilians, SES personnel, representatives of the administration, and members of the local community.
Restoration works involving all necessary equipment and services are continuing near Korosten, the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration reported on the evening of December 22. Accordingly, a number of passenger trains continue to operate via detour routes, with delays compared to the standard schedule.
Sumy oblast
Viktor Trehubov, Head of Communications of the Joint Forces Group, reported that as of the morning of 22 December, a combat engagement is ongoing in Hrabovske of Krasnopillia community. On 20 December, russian military personnel took around fifty residents of the village to russia.
During a meeting with journalists President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that in Hrabovske village, russian servicemembers also captured 13 Ukrainian servicemembers. According to him, 52 civilians who had refused evacuation remained in the village. Those taken by russian forces also included children.
The Regional Military Administration informed that on 22 December, the enemy attacked Stetskivskyi starosta district. The strike was carried out using multiple-launch rocket systems. Residential houses were damaged. No casualties were reported.
Between the morning of 21 December and the morning of 22 December, russian forces carried out more than 80 attacks on 20 settlements across nine territorial communities in the oblast. The highest number of strikes was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used artillery, mortars, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Air-raid alerts in the oblast lasted a total of 8 hours and 17 minutes over the past day.
Civilian infrastructure was damaged as follows:
- in Krasnopillia community, a private residential house and a passenger car were damaged;
- in Hlukhiv community, a private residential house was damaged.
Over the past 24 hours, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police and non-governmental organisations from border communities, evacuated 37 people.
Oleh Hryhorov, Head of Sumy Regional Military Administration, reported that over the past three days, around 40 people have been evacuated from the border areas of Krasnopillia community.
Since the beginning of 2025, more than 15,000 residents have already been evacuated from border areas of Sumy oblast. Evacuation measures from border territories have been ongoing since July 2023 and have not been halted.
Chernihiv oblast
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, reported that between 15 and 21 December, Defence Forces shot down 24 russian drones in the skies over Chernihiv oblast.
Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, said that on 22 December, the russian army attacked the border town of Semenivka, damaging civilian infrastructure. According to him, the town came under attack four times during the first half of the day alone.
Late in the evening of 21 December, russian forces again attacked Zhadove village in Semenivka community. The shelling caused a fire after a UAV hit an abandoned hangar.
The National Police in Sumy oblast informed that in Koriukivka region, police explosives experts neutralised a downed russian UAV. In addition to its main warhead, the drone was equipped with cluster submunitions. The wreckage was found in an open area.
According to Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment, over the course of 21 December, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (10 explosions) and tube artillery fire (two explosions), and conducted FPV-drone strikes (two explosions). Four villages came under enemy fire.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, reported that over the past week, a total of 90 enemy shelling incidents were recorded in Chernihiv oblast, amounting to 217 strikes. According to him, the activity of enemy UAVs has noticeably decreased.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Air defence forces destroyed 3 enemy UAVs.
Synelnykove region. An enemy UAV attack damaged 3 private houses in Vasylkivka community.
Pavlohrad region. A UAV attack in Pavlohrad caused a fire. 4 vehicles and a non-operational building were set ablaze.
Kryvyi Rih region. The enemy directed UAVs at Kryvyi Rih. A fire broke out in a single-storey building. Administrative buildings, 2 apartment buildings and 4 vehicles were damaged.
Nikopol region. The enemy continued attacking the regional centre and Pokrovske community, by drones and artillery from the evening through the morning.
Air defence forces destroyed an enemy UAV.
Nikopol region. During the day, the enemy attacked the regional centre, Marhanetsk, Pokrovske and Myrove communities. 3 civilians were injured: women aged 76 and 69, and a 76-year-old man. All received necessary medical assistance. Fires broke out and a utility structure was destroyed. 5 private houses, 3 high-rise buildings, 6 outbuildings, a dormitory, vehicles, infrastructure, a gas pipeline and a power line were damaged. According to updated information, 2 more high-rise buildings were damaged as a result of the previous day’s attacks.
Vinnytsia oblast
In Vinnytsia oblast, families of fallen fighters from the Liut assault brigade were presented with posthumous awards. The defenders had carried out combat missions in Pokrovsk, Toretsk and Bakhmut regions.
Kirovohrad oblast
In Kirovohrad oblast, memorial ceremonies were held for four servicemen who were killed in the war against russia: Oleksandr Bohdan from Ustynivka community, Viktor Hatman from Oleksandrivka community, Oleksandr Pavliuchenko from Oleksandriia community and Maksym Sheremei from Sokoliv community.
Oleksandr Bohdan was killed on 11 December 2025 as a result of an enemy drone strike on the outskirts of Rodynske city in Donetsk oblast. He was 23 years old.
Viktor Hatman was killed on 10 December 2025 in Hryshyne village, Pokrovsk region, Donetsk oblast.
Oleksandr Pavliuchenko was killed on 15 August 2024 while carrying out a combat mission in Kursk oblast.
Maksym Sheremei was killed on 28 June 2024 near Sokil village, Pokrovsk region, Donetsk oblast.
In Oleksandriia, a peaceful rally was held in memory of children killed during russia’s full-scale invasion. Photographs of 150 deceased children were displayed in the square, with trench candles lit beside each portrait.
Poltava oblast
A DNA examination confirmed the death of Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman Vitalii Demchenko, who had been listed as missing in action for almost 2 years. He was killed on 5 April 2024 as a result of russian artillery shelling near Ivanivske village in Donetsk oblast. He was a native of Reshetylivka.
In Poltava, memorial ceremonies were held for servicemen Oleh Sen and Serhii Kryvoshei. Oleh Sen was killed on 16 December 2025 in Donetsk oblast. Serhii Kryvoshei was killed on 5 July 2024 in Donetsk oblast.
Cherkasy oblast
In Smila, residents paid tribute to Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman Serhii Khyzhniak, who had been listed as missing in action. He was killed on 25 October 2024 while carrying out a combat mission in kursk region.
Also, in Smila, the parents of fallen 21-year-old serviceman Nazar Lavrenko were awarded the Order For Courage, 3rd Class. He had been a student at Cherkasy National University named after Bohdan Khmelnytskyi. Nazar, call sign Skipper, was killed on 2 October 2024 as a result of artillery shelling of positions in Kharkiv oblast.
Ihor Taburets, Head of the Regional Military Administration, reported that in Cherkasy, as a result of shelling during the night of 18 December, one residential building was destroyed, 12 require major repairs and 64 need current repairs. These findings were reported following an assessment conducted by specialists of the city executive committee.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
According to the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, on 21 December, the occupiers carried out 595 strikes on 21 settlements in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. russian forces conducted one air strike on Zaliznychne. 344 UAVs of various types (mostly FPV) attacked Chervonodniprovka, Hryhorivka, Bilenke, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Plavni, Stepove, Mali Shcherbaky, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Zelene, Varvarivka, Solodke, Dobropillia, and Nove Zaporizhzhia. Six MLRS strikes hit Prymorske, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Mala Tokmachka, and Dobropillia. 244 artillery strikes were carried out on Chervonodniprovka, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Stepove, Mali Shcherbaky, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Zelene, Varvarivka, Solodke, Dobropillia, Nove Zaporizhzhia, and Preobrazhenka. Twelve reports of damage to homes and vehicles were received.
According to the State Emergency Service of Zaporizhzhia oblast, on 21 December, three fires broke out in Zaporizhzhia region as a result of russian shelling. Residential buildings and a vehicle were on fire.
The General Staff reported that as of 16:00 on 22 December, the aggressor made eight attempts to advance on the positions of Ukrainian troops in the areas of Solodke, Varvarivka, Huliaipole, and Zelene towards Huliaipole; one engagement is ongoing. Ukrainian defenders repelled ten enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Shcherbaky, Stepove, Plavni, Lukianivske, and Prymorske. Two engagements are continuing. Over the past day, 21 December, the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled 11 russian attacks towards Huliaipole and eight towards Orikhiv.
Mykolaiv oblast
According to Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, yesterday, 21 December, the enemy carried out an artillery strike on Kutsurub community. There were no casualties.
Odesa oblast
Odesa Regional Military Administration reported that overnight the enemy once again attacked energy and industrial infrastructure in Odesa oblast. One person was injured and hospitalized in moderate condition. Two energy facilities belonging to DTEK Odesa Power Grids were damaged, as well as an energy facility of another energy company. Due to the damage to the energy infrastructure, more than 120,000consumers in Odesa oblast remain without electricity. As reported by Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba, one of the targets was the Port of Pivdennyi, where containers with flour and oil caught fire. A warehouse building with fertilizers and agricultural machinery was also damaged.
Kherson oblast
Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that at around 11:20 russians attacked a residential building in Dudchany in Beryslav region with a drone. As a result of the enemy strike, a 66-year-old woman sustained blast injuries, a concussion, and bruises to her face and arm.
At around 08:20 russian occupiers shelled Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. A 56-year-old woman sustained blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to her torso and head.
According to Kherson Regional Military Administration, today people who were injured as a result of russian attacks sought medical assistance at hospitals in the region. A man who was injured during a russian shelling of Kherson on the night of 17 December was hospitalized. The 49-year-old Kherson resident sustained blast injuries, a concussion, and an acute stress reaction. Two residents of Bilozerka who were injured during a russian shelling on the morning of 19 December also sought medical help. They sustained blast injuries and concussions. An elderly woman who was attacked by russians with a drone on 20 December in the central part of Kherson also sought medical assistance. The 88-year-old Kherson resident was diagnosed with blast injuries and a concussion.
Kherson Regional Police reported that on 21, December, the russian army attacked the right bank of Kherson oblast using artillery, MLRS, and various types of UAVs. The enemy attacks affected Kherson, Antonivka, Sofiivka, Kizomys, Molodizhne, Dniprovske, Inzhenerne, Stanislav, Shyroka Balka, Oleksandrivka, Bilozerka, Yantarne, Veletenske, Beryslav, Novoraisk, Osokorivka, Novooleksandrivka, Odradokamianka, Burhunka, Lvivske, Olhivka, Kozatske, and Vesele. As a result of the attacks, an apartment building and four private houses, a critical infrastructure facility, a utility enterprise, administrative and industrial buildings, a garage cooperative, a car, and a fence were damaged. One person was killed and three were injured as a result of russian aggression.
Activists of the Yellow Ribbon movement reported that in Skadovsk and Kakhovka in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson oblast, russian military personnel are confiscating game consoles, phones, and tablets belonging to local residents. According to activists, since the beginning of December there were 40 such cases. The gadgets are stolen during illegal searches, which often take place based on tips from collaborators.

Zakarpattia oblast
The RMA was awarded the For the Defense of Ukraine Presidential Medal to Mykola Sverhun.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
This year, 21 more veterans in the Carpathian region were awarded certificates – state monetary compensation for the purchase of housing. The government has allocated over UAH 47.7m in state subvention for these needs.
Lviv oblast
The 4th Christmas in Captivity campaign in support of prisoners of war was held in Lviv. The purpose of the event is to draw attention to the fate of the Ukrainian defenders of the Mariupol garrison and all prisoners and missing citizens.
The RMA reported that Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, personally presented the III degree Order of Courage to Iryna Holub-Parasiuk, resident of the village of Krekhiv, servicewoman of the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Mstislav Khorobry.
Rivne oblast
Oleksandr Iveruk, Head of the Rivneoblenerho section, and Petro Pukivskyi Senior Operator of the RNPP, from Rivne oblast will receive For Labor and Victory medals. The corresponding decree was signed by Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine.
Ternopil oblast
The RMA held a meeting with participants of the Povir project. This initiative is aimed at comprehensive support for women (both internally displaced persons and residents of the oblast) in starting their own business and developing their professional careers. The project is implemented by the Business Development Foundation NGO in partnership with the Diia.Business center in Ternopil and the International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) organization with financial support from a grant from PC USA.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
The military received 10 electronic warfare systems worth over UAH 1.7m from Khmelnytskyi community.

Over the 11 months of this year, Chernivtsi oblast has already allocated UAH 310m for the needs of the 651st Separate Anti-Aircraft Machine-Gun Battalion. Of the total amount, UAH 72.7m came from the regional budget.

The 3-day visit of the Ukrainian delegation to Florida as part of the peace talks has ended. The Ukrainian and American sides discussed four key documents at the meeting: a 20- point peace plan, an economic development plan, and two agreements on security guarantees for Ukraine – a multilateral one and a bilateral one from the US .
Lithuania sent a thermal power plant to Ukraine. The logistical operation lasted 11 months – a total of 149 deliveries of equipment weighing 2,399 tonnes were made. Transformers and stabilizers weighed about 172 tonnes each. Thanks to the new equipment, emergency repairs were carried out in several regions of Ukraine, where the energy sector suffered the most damage due to russian strikes. The power plant is capable of supplying electricity to approximately one million Ukrainians.
