It has been the 951th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

Since the beginning of the day, there were 74 combat engagements in the frontline. Our defenders are stopping the enemy, holding the line and disrupting the russian plans. At the same time, the occupants continue to be active towards Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, Kupiansk and Lyman.

The border areas of Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts continue to suffer from russian airstrikes. In particular, the terrorists attacked the areas of Bilopillia, Vyshenyky, Studenka, Pavlivka, Stepne, Tokarivka and Ulanove with guided aerial bombs, dropping 16 UAVs. Today, a number of localities in Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts, including Seredyna-Buda, Boiaro-Lezhachi, Halahanivka, Demianivka and Bachevsk, were hit by the terrorist army’s shelling. The enemy also carried out ten air strikes using 12 UAVs in Kursk oblast.

Towards Kharkiv, two hostile attacks took place in the areas of Vovchansk and Starytsia. The fighting is ongoing. The situation is under control.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy has been trying to advance towards our positions in the vicinity of ten settlements throughout the day. Nine enemy attacks are ongoing near Synkivka, Novoosynove, Kurelivka, Novoselivka, Kolesnykivka and Stelmakhivka. A total of 17 combat engagements were registered in the sector.

The aggressor increased the number of attacks to ten towards Lyman. He attacked near Hrekivka, Nevske, Novosadove and in Serebrianka forest. Three combat engagements are currently ongoing.

Towards Kramatorsk, our defenders continue to repel the enemy’s attacks near Chaiv Yar and Hryhorivka. An attack in the direction of Stupochky was repelled by Ukrainian troops.

Towards Toretsk, seven attacks took place near Toretsk and Shcherbynivka, where the enemy is still conducting two assaults.

Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy is still active. Clashes of varying intensity started 14 times today. Fighting is still ongoing in two locations near Lysivka and Selydove. The enemy aviation was firing at Chunyshyne with anti-aircraft guns throughout the day.

Fighting continues towards Kurakhove. Near Tsukuryne, Hirnyk, Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka and Katerynivka, 17 combat engagements took place during the day, and five occupant attacks are ongoing.

The aggressor did not conduct any active offensive towards Vremivka. Instead, enemy aircraft carried out five attacks in the areas of Bohoiavlenka, Temyrivka, Novodarivka and Urozhaine.

Towards Orikhiv, three unsuccessful combat engagements took place in the area of Mali Shcherbaky and Novodanylivka. The enemy struck with multiple rocket launchers in Zaporizhzhia.

There were no significant changes in the situation in other areas.

Ukrainian troops are controlling the situation and depleting the enemy along the entire frontline and in the rear.


Andrii Yermak, Head of the Presidential Office said that the three children and their mother were returned to the territory controlled by Ukraine. For more than a year, the family lived under occupation, where the children were forced to study at a russian school. The mother received constant threats from the occupation authorities, including threats to send the children to a boarding school. This forced the family to decide to leave the temporarily occupied Donetsk region for the government-controlled territory of Ukraine.

One more power unit of the nuclear power plant has been connected to the Ukrainian grid. It is ramping up. When the unit reaches full capacity, the Ukrainian power system will be strengthened by 1000MW. Energoatom informs that this happened 12 days ahead of schedule.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

The General Staff reported that the Armed Forces repelled 130 attacks in the east overnight, a tense situation is towards Pokrovsk. Also russian aviation struck Serebrianka forestry with more than 60 unguided missiles.

Ukrainian troops repelled 43 attacks towards Pokrovsk. The highest concentration of russian attacks was near Selydove, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled over 20 attacks.

Towards Kurakhove, the Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 31 attacks. The occupants were most actively trying to advance near Kurakhove and Heorhiivka.

Towards Vremivka, the russian army carried out eight assaults near Vuhledar, Bohoiavlenka and Zolota Niva. It actively used attack and bomber aircraft to carry out attacks in the area.

Kharkiv oblast

The press service of the regional prosecutor’s office reported that private and apartment buildings are burning in Kupiansk after russian troops shelled the city with multiple rocket launchers at around 5:40pm. As a result of the shelling, an ambulance driver was injured, and emergency vehicles were damaged. A 69-year-old woman suffered an acute stress reaction. As of 8:10 pm, the fires are still being extinguished.

Kharkiv police stated that on 1 October, russian troops shelled Kupiansk at least twice: at around 4:30pm, a russian FAB-250 attacked the city, and at around 6pm, a Uragan MRLs attack. According to the press service, the first shelling damaged an apartment building, a gas pipe, civilian cars and two ambulances. Private houses and garages caught fire. Dry grass is burning in the area of the hits. A 69-year-old woman and a 45-year-old driver of an ambulance were injured as a result of the MRLs shelling.

Viacheslav Zadorenko, Head of the CMA, informed that more than 10 households are burning in Dubivka of Derhachi community – after the shelling, the fire spread from the field to residential buildings.

According to him, rescuers are trying to localise the fire. As of 7:05pm, there were no reports of injuries.

Serhii Kryvetchenko, Deputy Head of the CMA, said that two streets are burning in Slobozhanske of the Lipetsk community – as of 18:30, the fire destroyed 6-7 yards.

The fire started in the afternoon as there were hits, which set fire to meadows and reeds, and the fire spread to residential buildings. The locals are trying to extinguish the fire on their own as rescuers did not go to the scene of the fire due to the danger of russian strikes.

The General Staff reported at 4pm that 17 combat engagements have been recorded towards Kupiansk since the beginning of the day. According to the report, nine attacks by the russian army continue near Synkivka, Novoosynove, Kurylivka, Novoselivka, Kolesnykivka and Stelmakhivka.

The General Staff noted that towards Kharkiv, two attacks continue in the areas of Vovchansk and Starytsia.

The regional prosecutor’s office said that a 57-year-old woman was killed in a russian shelling of Kruhliakivka, Kupiansk region. It Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the RMA, reported that yesterday at 6:47pm, the russians attacked Petro-Ivanivka village of Kupiansk region. An educational institution was damaged as a result of the shelling from multiple rocket launchers.

A 62-year-old man, a 24-year-old man, a 55-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy were injured.

At 4:05pm, Dorochivka village of Kupiansk region was shelled. As a result of the shelling, grass burned on the area of 1 hectare.

At 3:43pm, Shyrokyi Yar of Bohodukhiv region was shelled. As a result of the shelling, grass was burning on the area of 2.5 hectares.

At 1:05pm, Kupiansk was shelled. A garage and a car were on fire.

At 1pm, Kupiansk was again attacked by an FPV drone, a car was damaged and a 54-year-old man was injured.

At 11:20am, russians attacked Kupiansk. A civilian car was set on fire as a result of a drone strike.

At 10:51am, Stetskivka village of Kupiansk region was shelled. As a result of the shelling, grass and reeds were burning over an area of 2.5 hectares.

At 10:15am, Kupiansk was shelled, killing a man.

At 10:06am, Kupiansk was shelled again with an FPV drone. A 58-year-old man was wounded while driving a car.

Towards Kharkiv, the enemy attempted sixteen assaults near Burhuvatka, Starytsia, Tykhe and Vovchansk, but failed.

Towards Kupiansk, there were 24 enemy attacks. Defence forces repelled enemy assaults near Synkivka, Novoosynove, Hlushkivka, Stelmakhivka, Andriivka, Kruhliakivka and Vyshneve.

In September, the russians carried out a record number of airstrikes on Kharkiv since the beginning of 2023: on average, during September, russia shelled the city with various weapons twice a day almost every day. These statistics were released by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov on 1 October.

In September, it became known that 51 Ukrainian soldiers from Kharkiv oblast had been killed. The deaths were officially reported by communities or universities.

Kharkiv resident Oleh Shyriaiev, commander of the 225th separate battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine and the Order of the Golden Star as reads Decree 669/2024 on the website of the Presidential Office. The 225th Battalion defended Kharkiv oblast at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, then held Bakhmut and Chasiv Yar. Since the beginning of the Kursk operation, it has been fighting in Kursk oblast.

The city council’s press service said that a multi-storey building on Metrobudivnykiv Street in Kharkiv, where four floors collapsed due to a russian strike on 24 September, will be partially demolished due to the scale of the destruction.

Donetsk oblast

The Prosecutor General’s Office said taht the Security Service of Ukraine has launched an investigation into the alleged shooting of 16 Ukrainian prisoners of war towards Pokrovsk. The office added that the Ukrainian soldiers were allegedly shot near the villages of Mykolaivka and Sukhyi Yar in Pokrovsk region. The Prosecutor General called it “the most massive known case of execution on the front line”.

Around 3am, the russian army attacked Bilytske, damaging an apartment building and an administrative building. Police said that five hits were recorded in the town over the past day.

Two dead and three wounded residents of Donetsk oblast in one day – police are recording the consequences of russian aggression. The day before, the enemy made 2,774 attacks on the frontline and residential areas. 17 settlements were under fire.

37 civilian objects were damaged, including 22 residential buildings.

Russians shelled Myrnohrad with artillery, killing one civilian and wounding another, and damaging two apartment buildings.

In Siversk, a person was killed in the shelling and 12 private houses were damaged.

Two civilians were wounded in Sukhi Yaly.

The occupiers struck Kostiantynivka with four FAB-250 bombs with an UMPK module and artillery, damaging a private house, an enterprise and an outbuilding.

In Sviatohirsk, four recreational facilities were damaged as a result of an attack with Smerch MRLs. In Yampil, 12 houses were damaged, and in Yablunivka, a private house and an outpatient clinic were damaged.

Serhii Pryimachuk, director of the Holy Mountains National Park, said that at 4pm on 30 September, the russian army shelled Sviatohirsk, which caused a fire that spread to the territory of the Holy Mountains National Park.

Russian troops dropped two FAB-250 bombs with an UMPC module on Rozlyv, damaging an agricultural enterprise and an educational institution.

In Pokrovsk, an artillery strike damaged two households. A private house was hit in Hirnyk, and critical infrastructure facilities in Kurakhove and Udachne.

Five hits were recorded in Bilytske, where two private houses and an industrial facility were destroyed. In addition, the enemy attacked the town again at around 3am today, damaging an apartment building and an administrative building.

Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, stated that the russian army is almost in the centre of Vuhledar. It is very difficult to bring humanitarian aid, drinking water and medicines to the 107 people who remain there, because the active phase of the war is underway. The enemy is already almost in the centre of the town.

Kurakhove police chief and the White Angel crew Artem Shchus was awarded the Order for Courage, third class. The President awarded the police officer during an award ceremony in honour of the Day of Defenders of Ukraine in Kyiv. Police Colonel Artem Shchus has been saving people on the frontline around the clock – evacuating the wounded and those trying to escape from the fire zone. This year, Artem Shchus evacuated people from Krasnohorivka during street fighting and when the town was almost completely overrun. It took him over an hour to reach the wounded man under fire. Today, the policeman is evacuating civilians from Hirnyk, a few hundred metres away from the enemy, as well as other settlements on the front line. He is working at the limit of his strength. In just one day, the crew managed to evacuate 35 people – children, the elderly and people with limited mobility.

1 October marks two years since the liberation of Lyman. The town in Donetsk oblast had been under russian occupation for almost five months. According to Oleksandr Zhuravlov, Head of the city’s military administration, there are virtually no surviving buildings in Lyman – 90% are destroyed or damaged. The russian army is shelling the city – the front line is 15km away.

Serhii Dobryak, Head of the CMA, stated that  less than 14,000 residents remain in Pokrovsk. No more than two hundred residents leave every day.

The press service of the regional office of the National Police reported that the number of road patrols will be increased at the entrance and exit of Donetsk oblast. The decision was made after the regional police chief, Osipenko, inspected the work of police officers on the front line.

A monument to Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych was erected in the central park of Vinnytsia. The monument was temporarily moved from the frontline town of Pokrovsk, Donetsk oblast.

Luhansk oblast

The enemy stormed our positions near six villages in Luhansk oblast yesterday. According to the Regional Military Administration, it happened near Andriivka, Stelmakhivka, Bilohorivka, Hrekivka, Makiivka and Balka Zhuravka. And also in Serebrianka forest, where the fighting continues. It was there that the invaders dropped more than 60 unguided aerial missiles yesterday. They also fired at Balka Zhuravka with cannon and rocket artillery. 64 enemy drones tried to hit the fortifications of Ukrainian soldiers. They are holding the defence.

Luhansk oblast was the first to put into circulation a postage stamp “Under the Protection of the Virgin Mary’”. According to Maksym Sutkovskyi, Director of Ukrposhta branches in Luhansk and Donetsk roblasts, the stamp reflects the deep connection between the Defenders of Ukraine and their patroness, the Virgin Mary. The stamp depicts the Holy Virgin Mary, who envelops and protects those who defend the Ukrainian land with her omophorion. A portion of the proceeds from each stamp is allocated to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, for the purchase of electronic warfare devices for the brigades defending Luhansk oblast.

After representatives of Tatarstan were appointed to run the captured Lysychansk, the locals hoped for better living conditions. However, later on, they were happy to see even the technical water being brought in tankers after a long break. The water supply was destroyed during the hostilities in 2022 and has not yet been restored. Residents of the city have been searching for water on their own for more than two months, as the centralised supply system is not functioning, although it has been announced that it will be repaired.

Residents of Siverskodonetsk who remain under occupation complain about the poor quality of medical services. The local polyclinic has not added any more specialists over the past two years. In most cases, they have to wait for touring doctors from Perm or travel to Luhansk. By the way, to partially save the situation, a neurologist, urologist, oncologist, pulmonologist and rheumatologist recently arrived from there. They saw patients only once a day for five hours. Most of the patients, of course, were unable to get a consultation.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

On the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid tribute to the soldiers who died during the russian-Ukrainian war. The President of Ukraine awarded the soldiers with state awards, presented the brigades with battle flags and conferred honorary names. Volodymyr Zelenskyy also visited the hospital and presented state awards to the soldiers and medics who saved their lives.

Since the beginning of 2024, Kyiv Military Hub, which operates as a one-stop shop for veterans and their families, has processed 20,310 requests. The hub provides psychological support through mobile emergency intervention teams. Veterans can also get legal advice, take retraining courses and participate in sports rehabilitation programmes.

“Electronic Defender’s Office” is available in the capital. Using it, military personnel and veterans can submit online applications for various services. The portal for defenders has already registered 3,350 users and received 553 applications.

Another self-defence training course by the Ukrainian Women’s Guard was held in Kyiv on 29 September. The three-hour course consisted of theoretical and practical parts. The trainer of the course “Self-defence and survival in crisis situations for women” was Sensei Viktor Kraevskyi, Chief Instructor of the YASEN and UWG, founder and head of the School of Martial Arts, head of the German Jujutsu Union in Ukraine.

The city council reported that American congressmen and representatives of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency JICA visited Bucha. They visited the Church of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called, saw an exhibition of photographs depicting the consequences of the russian occupation in 2022, and read testimonies of russian crimes and the suffering of civilians in the community.

Irpin City Council announced that an educational and production hub based on the concept of lifelong learning was opened in Irpin. It is planned to implement projects within the framework of state educational programmes, retraining programmes, and employment of internally displaced persons, military personnel, and youth.

Irpin and the Azerbaijani city of Lachin signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The city council informed that cooperation will take place in various areas. Social support is a particularly important aspect of the partnership: next year, 30 children of Ukrainian fallen heroes will go to Irpin for rehabilitation.

On the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, the Heavenly Watch memorial was unveiled in the newly created Heroes of the Border Guard Park in Darnytskyi district of Kyiv. The sculpture was erected as a sign of honour and memory of the fallen Heroes of the 10th Mobile Border Guard Detachment Dozor. The memorial and the park were created with the support of philanthropists.

Zhytomyr oblast

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has posthumously awarded the highest state decoration, the Order of the Golden Star, to a resident of Zhytomyr oblast Sergeant Major Serhii Kostiuchenko. The president also presented the award “For Courage and Bravery” to the 148th separate artillery brigade in Zhytomyr.

The regional military administration reported that despite the challenges of war, the number of taxpayers in Zhytomyr oblast has increased. As of 1 September 2024, 92,102 taxpayers were registered with the regional tax service, which is 4,291 more than in the same period last year. This positive trend is evidence of the recovery and intensification of business activity in oblast.

On 27-29 September, a sports and patriotic game “Sokolovski Atamans’ Hideouts” was held in Zhytomyr oblast at the Levkiv Lyceum of the Hlybochytsia Village Council. The participants learnt the tactics of small-group warfare, the basics of military topography, and practised elements of combat using paintball.

For the third year in a row, students from Zhytomyr’s Lyceum №27 have been collecting chestnuts to donate the money raised to the needs of the Armed Forces. The campaign is held in 35 institutions in the city, where the chestnuts are sold to procurement companies. The proceeds are used to buy equipment for the military, medicines, and help with prosthetics for the wounded. According to Kateryna Kozodoi, the initiator of the Chestnuts for the Armed Forces campaign, last year children managed to collect 20 tonnes of chestnuts and raised UAH 120,000 for the needs of the Armed Forces.

Sumy oblast

According to Liudmyla Biriukova, Head of the community, on 1 October, around midday, the russian army attacked Velyka Pysarivka in Sumy oblast using an FPV drone. The strike damaged at least four houses, but preliminary reports indicate that no people were injured.

Serhii Minakov, Head of Esman community, reported  that in the morning, the russian army launched an airstrike on civilian infrastructure in Esman community, Shostka region, Sumy oblast. A 45-year-old woman who was on her property was killed in the attack, while her 47-year-old husband and another civilian were injured.

During night and morning, russians carried out 40 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 82 explosions. The attacks targeted Sumy, Bilopillia, Richky, Myropilia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Slobidka, Shalyhyne, Esman communities.

During the day, on 30 September, russians carried out 97 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 183 explosions. The attacks targeted  Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropilia, Bilopillia, Richky, Krasnopillia, Okhtyrka, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Slobidka, Hlukhiv, Shalyhyne, Esman, Khutir-Mykhalivskyi, Svesa, Seredyna-Buda communities. 

Bilopillia community: strikes by FPV drones (2 explosions), artillery fire (18 explosions), airstrikes by GAB (2 explosions).

Esman community: the enemy hit by mortars (5 explosions), GAB (7 explosions), FPV drones (3 explosions). A local resident was injured as a result of the shelling by the GAB

Seredyna-Buda community: the russians hit by artillery (2 explosions), FPV drones (13 explosions).

Hlukhiv community: explosions from GAB (9 explosions), an FPV drone strike (1 explosion) were recorded. One civilian was injured as a result of the FPV drone attack.

Svesa community: 2 mines were dropped by the enemy on the territory of the community.

Putyvl community: the russians fired artillery (8 explosions).

Krasnopilia community: VOG drops from UAVs (3 explosions), FPV drone strikes (6 explosions), mortar attacks (16 explosions) took place.

Khotyn community: there was artillery shelling (2 explosions).

Yunakivka community: airstrikes by GAB  were carried out (3 explosions).

Velyka Pysarivka community: struck by FPV drones (10 explosions), mortar shelling (6 explosions), artillery fire (13 explosions). 8 VOG drops from UAVs (8 explosions) were also carried out .

Khutir-Mykhailivskyi community: strikes by FPV drones were recorded (3 explosions).

Rychky community: a strike by a barrage munition “Lancet” (1 explosion).

Nova Slobidka community: russians dropped 17 mines on the territory of the community. There was also an FPV drone strike (1 explosion).

Shalyhyne community: the enemy fired mortars (8 explosions), FPV drones (7 explosions).

Okhtyrka community: rocket strikes (2 explosions).

Myropillia community: there was shelling by a tank (5 explosions).

Sumy Regional Military Administration (RMA) reported that Ukrainian defenders received state awards and certificates. The head of the RMA, Volodymyr Artiukh, congratulated the defenders of Ukraine on the occasion and presented them with prestigious state honours.

Chernihiv oblast

According to the North Operational Command on 30 September, only one explosion was recorded in Chernihiv oblast. This occurred due to the dropping of a munition from a russian UAV near Hremiachka, Semenivka community, located in the border area of Chernihiv oblast.

Andrii Serhiienko, a soldier from the 3rd Assault Brigade from Chernihiv oblast with the callsign “2.0”, was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, along with the Order of the “Golden Star.”

In Mena, Chernihiv oblast, a new safe space has been opened. It provides free psychological support, consultations with social workers, and activities for children and their mothers. The centre operates at the Mena City Center for Social Services.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

In the evening and at night, the enemy again attacked Nikopol region. In the evening, the regional centre was attacked with a kamikaze drone, and Marhanets community was shelled with Grad. Four apartment buildings were damaged. At night, Nikopol, Pokrovsk and Chervonohryhorivka communities were shelled with artillery. There were no casualties.

During the day, the enemy attacked Nikopol region about fifteen times. They attacked the regional centre, Pokrovsk, Chervonohryhorivka, Marhanets and Myrove communities. The occupiers fired with artillery and kamikaze drones. The infrastructure was damaged. There were no casualties.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​ Air defence forces worked in the region at night. An attack UAV was shot down. There were no casualties or damage.

In Vinnytsia, on the Day of Defenders, the memory of fallen defenders was honoured. In particular, flowers were laid at memorials and on the Walk of Fame.

Mayor Serhii Morhunov said that rescuers in Vinnytsia oblast received four vehicles from Germany. Two vehicles will be transferred to the fire and rescue unit of Voronovytsia village, and one more to the cities of Khmilnyk and Hnivan.

Vinnytsia Lyceum №29 raised funds for a car for Chervona Kalyna during a charity fair. The fair participants offered handmade goodies: homemade cakes, dumplings and various sweets. There were also masterclasses where children and adults could create their own souvenirs or decorations. The fair raised UAH 216,565. Air defence was conducted in Kirovograd region at night. An attack UAV was shot down. There were no casualties or damage.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of the RMA, said that Kirovograd oblast continues to support its defenders. Another need of the 412th Battalion soldiers was met. And we sent them electronic warfare devices.

Four soldiers from Kirovohrad oblast were killed in the russian-Ukrainian war.

These are Mykola Yefremov, who was killed on 26 September 2024 as a result of a rocket attack in Sumy oblast. Viktor Tymofieienko died on 17 September 2024 due to heart disease at the temporary location of the unit, he was a driver of a repair and restoration battalion. Viktor Dushka was killed while performing a combat mission. And Mykhailo Melnyk has been missing in action since 18 May 2024 while performing a combat mission near the city of Vovchansk, Kharkiv oblast.

Poltava oblast

In Poltava, the event “Thank the Military” and the exhibition “History of the Ukrainian Army” were held to mark the Day of Defenders of Ukraine. The celebrations were organised by the Centre for Culture and Leisure together with the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance. Four locations were set up at the event: boxes were placed where people could bring books, warm clothes, thermal underwear, long-term storage products, and hot water bottles. Everyone could leave their wishes on the flag, which would be sent to the military. We also organised an exhibition entitled “History of the Ukrainian Army”. There were 20 banners at the location, each depicting the military in different periods of Ukraine.

Cherkasy oblast

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to pilot Andrii Pilshchykov, call sign Dzhus.

Ihor Taburets, Head othe RMA, reported that the relevant decree was published on the President’s website. Dzhus and two other pilots from the Vasylkiv detachment were killed in Zhytomyr oblast.  

The book “To Live Against All Odds: Women’s Stories about the War of 2014 and 2022” was presented in Cherkasy. In it, 11 authors of different ages and professions shared their stories of captivity, torture and occupation. The book was printed in 1300 copies and is available free of charge at presentations in all cities of Ukraine or online.

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, reported that today, 1 October, the russian army struck Zaporizhzhia six times. The number of wounded as a result of the russian shelling is 32 people, including 14 men, 15 women and three children aged 9, 10 and 12.  

Ivan Fedorov added that a 70-year-old man was injured as a result of russian shelling in Mala Tokmachka. The man was hospitalised with injuries to his hands and head.

Mykolaiv oblast

Vitalii Kim, Head of the RMA, reported that on the night of 1 October, air defence forces in Mykolaiv oblast destroyed four Shahed 131/136 UAVs.

Odesa oblast

The RMA said that today, 1 October, explosions from air defence systems were heard in Odesa.

On the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, an exhibition “Mariupol 86 Days” was opened in Odesa. The installation is located in Shevchenko Park, near the Alley of Heroes.

Kherson oblast

Roman Mrochko, Head of the CMA, reported that the russian military hit a market in downtown Kherson. Six people were killed and six injured in the shelling.

Also russian troops attacked Kindiika. A 68-year-old woman, who was on the street, was wounded. She has an explosive injury and contusion.

Tonight, russian troops attacked Veletenske. A 45-year-old man was wounded. He sustained a mine-blast trauma and leg injuries.

Volyn oblast

Lutsk community sent a Mitsubishi L200, a Mitsubishi L200 (purchased with the funds of city council employees), a DJI Mavic 3E, 7 DJI Mavic 3, 5 DJI Mavic 3 PRO, 4 DJI Mavic 3 FMC, 10 DJI Mavic 3T, 10 FPV drones, 3 EcoFlow, 70 Spider remote antennas, 5 Alientech DUO II, 10 Motorola radios, 20 batteries for Motorola radios, 4 raincoats with protection from the AZRAIL thermal imager, a 6.5 kW gasoline generator Berema, 2 3.2 kW inverter generators, 2 Acer laptops and 10 SPYPOINT CH 2000/8 to the military.

Zakarpattia oblast

The XIX International Festival Interlialka (the oldest festival of independent Ukraine) started in Uzhhorod. Puppeteers from 8 countries of the world (the Czech Republic, Moldova, Romania, Germany, Slovakia, Lithuania, Argentina and Ukraine) will show their best performances to young and adult audiences for 4 days. This year, 21 professional teams are taking part in the festival.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

In the oblast, preparations are underway for the opening of the regional multifunctional space VeteranPro, the purpose of which is to promote reintegration and adaptation by providing information and consulting support. Its representative offices in the districts and communities of the oblast should be operational by 1 December.

Lviv oblast

Volunteers of Medical and Psychological Assistance reported that during 23-29 September, they provided informational and psychological support, as well as escorting 120 people who were evacuated to the oblast from the frontline areas. Representatives of Medical and Psychological Assistance, on the initiative of Lviv RMA, have been on duty 24 hours a day at the main train station of Lviv since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

Ukrainian Resilience Week started in Lviv. The event brought together local government, government, business, research institutions and experts to strengthen community resilience in times of war.

As part of the Travel Therapy project, kayaking was organised for defenders. 28 people took part in the trip, namely, military personnel undergoing a course of physical therapy at the rehabilitation centre Next Step Ukraine, in particular those who move around in wheelchairs, with prostheses, as well as their relatives.

Rivne oblast

During the 950 days of the war, there were 733 air raids in Rivne oblast. Summarising the month: 21 alarms (in August – 17); the longest was September 4 (lasted 4 h 12 min); the shortest was September 28 (9 min); the alarm was announced 3 times during the day (5 and 26 September); the maximum number of days without sirens is 4 (7-12 September).

7 residential institutions of Rivne oblast are ready for the heating season, included, institutions of the social protection system of the population, which are subordinated to Rivne RMA. In these boarding schools, all 15 boiler rooms are ready for operation. Repair of boilers and heating networks cost UAH 102,000. A new boiler with a cost of over 500,000 UAH of regional funds was installed in Tuchyn Geriatric Boarding House. Stocks of solid fuel in institutions amount to 558.8 c.m. of firewood and 405 tonnes of pellets.

Ternopil oblast

In Ternopil, an updated memorial stele To Soldiers Were Killed For The Freedom Of Ukraine was opened in the park named after Taras Shevchenko. This stele commemorates the Heroes who gave their lives for the independence of Ukraine during the russian-Ukrainian war.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi community sent 2 EW devices and 100 seven-inch FPV drones worth UAH 1.5m to the Defense Forces.

Chernivtsi oblast

Colonel Dmytro Voloshyn, Brigade Commander of the 82nd Separate Amphibious Assault Brigade of Bukovyna, received the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Golden Star order. The brigade under his command received the Bukovynska ribbon for its battle flag.

Chernivtsi City Council allocated UAH 5.4m to support the security and defence forces. Funds in the amount of UAH 500,000 were also directed to the Main Department of the Emergency Situations of Ukraine in Chernivtsi oblast for the implementation of the Program for the prevention of emergency situations and elimination of their consequences in Chernivtsi.

21 veterans used the Grant For Veterans And Their Family Members program for business development. Thanks to these grants, cafes, shops, pizzerias, sports clubs and much more are opening in Chernivtsi oblast. The total amount of grants amounted to UAH 8.73m.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

On the 2nd anniversary of the illegal “referendums” in the occupied territories of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, stated that foreign ministers of G7 countries declared that they will never recognize the russian annexation of four Ukrainian regions.

Estonia wants to restructure military aid to Ukraine. The country will continue to support Ukraine in the defence sector, but in the coming years, the focus will be on Estonian-made goods.

In 2023, Estonia provided assistance to Ukraine in the amount of €100m, which is 0.25% of the country’s GDP.

Lithuania handed over documents about the crimes of the lukashenka regime to the International Criminal Court. The decision was taken after the Ministry of Justice of Lithuania assessed the materials provided by the democratic opposition in belarus regarding the regime’s crimes against humanity, and also gathered sufficient evidence from other sources.

Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium hosted the Ukrainian Modernism exhibition. They introduced their visitors, specifically, to Kazimir Malevich precisely as a Ukrainian artist who studied and trained as an artist in Kyiv, knew Ukrainian.
