It has been the 922nd day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

On 2 September, russian occupiers continued to assault the positions of Ukrainian defenders. 

There were 105 combat engagements on the front line.

Today, the vicinities of the settlements of Slavhorod, Oleksandrivka, Bachivsk, Sopych, Sydorivka and Tymofiivka were affected by enemy artillery and mortar fire. In addition, the russians launched airstrikes using guided aerial bombs (KABs) towards Hlukhiv, Bilopillia and Zarutske.

Towards Kharkiv, there were four combat clashes. The enemy stormed the defensive lines of Ukrainian units near Vovchansk, with two clashes still ongoing.

Towards Kupyansk, there were 13 battles. The enemy carried out offensive actions towards Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Hlushkivka, Kolisnykivka, Stelmakhivka and Berestove. Three assaults are still ongoing.

Towards Lyman, the enemy stormed Ukrainian positions nine times near Hrekivka, Druzheliubivka, Makiivka, and Nevske. Ukrainian defenders repelled four attacks, while five are still underway.

Towards Siversk, the Defense Forces successfully stopped four russian assaults near Verkhnokamianske and Vyimka.

Towards Kramatorsk, three combat clashes occurred. The occupiers advanced towards Kalynivka and Klishchiivka, with one attack still ongoing. The situation remains under control by Ukrainian troops.

Towards Toretsk, russian forces attempted to dislodge Ukrainian units from positions near Toretsk, Shcherbynivka, Nelipivka and Romanivka. Four clashes have ended, and six are still ongoing. Additionally, the aggressor’s aviation launched unguided rockets (NARs) near Druzhba and dropped two KABs near Dachne.

Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy carried out 29 assault actions in the vicinities of Vozdvizhenka, Zelene Pole, Myroliubivka, Novohrodivka, Krutyi Yar, Hrodivka, and Mykhailivka. They also launched an airstrike towards Oleksandropol. The Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back russian forces, having repelled 18 attacks, with 11 battles still ongoing. Enemy losses in this direction are being clarified.

Towards Kurakhove, the invaders attacked 16 times near Ukrainsk, Heorhiivka and Kostiantynivka. Fourteen enemy attempts to advance were repelled, and two are still ongoing.

Towards Vremivka, the enemy launched 15 assaults towards Ukrainian positions near Vodiane, Vuhledar and Prechystivka. Seven battles have concluded, and eight are still ongoing. In addition, the occupiers struck Kostiantynivka and Novodarivka with NARs.

Towards Orikhiv, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions, but with the support of aviation, they struck the vicinities of Novoandriivka and Mala Tokmachka.

In other directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.


Ihor Syrota, Director General of Ukrhydroenerho, reported that Kaniv Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) is planned to be built underground. He said: “We are making changes to the construction project of the Kaniv HPP. It must be out of reach for the enemy. Therefore, there are plans to build it underground”. He emphasised that the biggest challenge for energy workers now is to recover quickly, protect facilities, and plan for the future: “We must build infrastructure that is resilient.”

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that during an evening shelling on August 31, the enemy used an unusual weapon against Kharkiv for the first time in the war: the Grom-E1, a hybrid between a missile and a guided aerial bomb. 

Ukraine has entered its third school year under conditions of full-scale war. During this time, russia has taken the lives of over 550 innocent Ukrainian children who were attending school or preparing to start. More than 1,360 children have been wounded to varying degrees. Deliberately targeting civilian objects, russian criminals have damaged 3,798 educational institutions, with at least 400 completely destroyed.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

For the third day in a row, the russian army has been increasing pressure on Vremivka defence line in Donetsk oblast. Yesterday, on 1 September, Ukrainian troops repelled 14 enemy attacks. On 31 August, 11 attacks were recorded in this area and eight the day before.

Most of the fighting remains towards Pokrovsk, where russian troops concentrated their efforts near Novohrodivka. The General Staff recorded 63 russian attacks in this sector yesterday.  

The invaders conducted more than 20 attacks towards Toretsk and Kurakhove, specifically near Toretsk, Nelipivka, Krasnohorivka, Kostiantynivka and Heorhiivka. 

Kharkiv oblast

The General Staff reported five Russian attacks in Kharkiv oblast as of 4pm. There were four firefights towards Kharkiv. The occupiers stormed the defensive lines of our units near Vovchansk, where two clashes are still ongoing.

Towards Kupiansk, there were 13 combat engagements since the beginning of the day. The occupiers conducted offensive actions near Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Hlushkivka, Kolisnykivka, Stelmakhivka and Berestove. Three attacks are currently underway

As a result of hostile rocket attacks on Kharkiv between 30 August and 1 September, 27 people, including 7 children, were hospitalised in the oblast’s healthcare facilities. Among the adults, 3 patients are in serious condition, 1 is in extremely serious condition.  According to doctors, the children’s condition is satisfactory, with positive dynamics.

Viacheslav Zadorenko, Head of Derhachi CMA, stated that trains from Kharkiv to Kozacha Lopan will temporarily run only to Derhachi and back due to damage to the railway line.

In Kharkiv, a hit was recorded in Kyivskyi district. According to preliminary data, 2 enemy UAVs hit a garage cooperative located near residential buildings in Kyivskyi district. A fire broke out. Another hit was recorded on the territory of a university. 11 people were injured. The examination is ongoing. A 60-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man are in critical condition. Another 5 women are in moderate condition.

Oleksandr Hololobov, Head of Mala Danylivka community, reported that russian federation hit Cherkaska Lozova village, Kharkiv region, using a multiple rocket launcher.

Viacheslav Zadorenko, Head of Derhachi CMA, informed that around 3:40pm, russia struck Bezruky and hit an open area.

The occupiers struck Ruska Lozova using multiple rocket launchers. A private household was damaged. According to preliminary data, there is one victim.

At 3:30pm, the occupiers attacked Kupiansk. The shelling damaged a house. A 78-year-old woman was killed.

At 6:15am, russians attacked Kupiansk. A residential building was damaged and a 65-year-old woman killed by enemy shelling.

At 1:07am, russians attacked Kyivskyi district, Kharkiv. As a result of the attack, the roof was on fire, 1 private house was damaged and a brick fence was destroyed.

Yesterday at 8:05pm, russians attacked Rubizhne village of Vovchansk community, Chuhuiv region. As a result of the shelling, 3 private houses burned.

At 6:17pm, russians attacked Ruski Tyshky village of Tsyrkuny community, Kharkiv region. The shelling destroyed a house of 60 sq m and 4 outbuildings.

At 5:50pm, russians attacked Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi village of Kupiansk region. As a result of the shelling, a private house, two outbuildings and a garage were burning.

At 1:35pm, russians attacked Eskhar village of Chuhuiv region. As a result of the shelling, grass, reeds, branches and trees on the area of 2 hectares were burning.

At 1:26pm, russians attacked Kharkiv.  The shelling by 4 Iskanders and 3 S-300s damaged a shopping centre, public places and the Sports Palace. At all locations, 50 people were injured, including 7 children, 2 medics and 2 rescuers.

At 12:35pm, russians attacked Podoly village of Kurylivka community, Kupiansk region.  As a result of the shelling, an outbuilding burned.

At 11:26am, russians attacked Liubotyn of Kharkiv region. Three people were injured.

At 9:30am, russians attacked Kupiansk. As a result of the shelling, the roof of the house burned. A 78-year-old man and a 74-year-old woman were injured.

Around 8am, russians attacked Staryi Merchyk village of Valky community, Bohodukhiv region. They shelled an infrastructure facility. Two people were injured.

Towards Kharkiv, the enemy continued its offensive, with a total of seven combat engagements taking place. Hostilities continued near Vovchansk and Lyptsi.

Towards Kupiansk, 16 hostile attacks took place yesterday. Defence forces repelled enemy assaults near Synkivka and Hlushkivka.

About 10,000 people in 25 apartment buildings in Nemyshlianskyi and Slobidskyi districts of Kharkiv are currently without water supply due to russian shelling.

A 60m high street art piece was painted in the car park of the Epitsentr supermarket in Kharkiv, where 19 people were killed in an air strike in May. The artwork depicts a Patriot system with the inscription “God protects our souls. Patriot can save our lives”, located in the direction of Belgorod.

Donetsk oblast

The CMA reported that one person was killed in a russian army strike on Selydove on the afternoon of 2 September. The occupiers shelled the town with an FPV drone and killed a man born in 1937.

Yesterday the police recorded 2,246 attacks along the frontline and in the residential sector.

The attacks took place in 7 settlements: Kostiantynivka, Kurakhove, Siversk, Toretsk, Petrivka, Shcherbynivka and Yablunivka village.

15 civilian objects were damaged, including 13 residential buildings and two cars.

The occupiers launched a combined attack on Kurakhove with Uragan MRLs and cannon artillery, killing 4 civilians and injuring 10 more. Five apartment buildings, two private houses and two cars were damaged.

One person was killed in Petrivka as a result of a KAB-250 bomb with a UMPK module.

There is a injured person in Toretsk.

An apartment building in Siversk and 5 private houses in Yablunivka were damaged.

Roman Padun, Head of the CMA, informed that due to the security situation, Kurakhove City Administration will work remotely.

Serhii Dobriak, Head of the CMA, said that in less than a month since the start of the intensified evacuation, about 20,000 people have left Pokrovsk and the community for safer parts of Ukraine. There are currently 1,365 children in the city, compared to 5,900 a month ago.  

According to the Department of Education and Science of the regional military administration, 855 schools in Donetsk oblast have been damaged by russian strikes and more than 190 have been completely destroyed. Today, 254 schools will start the new school year. All of them will work online due to the danger.

Luhansk oblast

The occupiers are putting pressure near Hrekivka, Makiivka and Nevske. They attack day and night. Our defenders are holding back the attack. Frontline settlements are under constant shelling. The invaders fired at Makiivka with rocket artillery, at the same village and neighbouring Nevskoye with cannon artillery. The activity of 97 enemy infiltrators was recorded in this area.

The fifth, highest, level of fire danger has been established in the so-called “lpr”. This message was used to warn the population, but did not help to strengthen the work of fire brigades. Cases where the flames spread to the residential sector after a fire started in dead wood or forest have become commonplace. Over the weekend, a forest near Sievierodonetsk caught on fire again. The fire has engulfed houses on the outskirts of Shchedryshcheve and is spreading further. More than 80 houses have already been burnt down. Rescuers do not intervene because they “lack the strength and means”. The only assistance provided by the occupiers is drinking water.

For more than a month, school students from the occupied Belovodsk stayed in a tent city near Novosibirsk. On the basis of a military training ground, a specialised shift “Serving russia” was organised for them, during which the children took a young soldier’s course and mastered the skills of combat. The training was conducted by representatives of the special forces and tank unit. The children also took part in field trips to practice their skills. Experts in patriotic education were also involved. Special attention was paid to high school students who are expected to join the russian army in a year or two. That is why they are being trained intensively.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the RMA, informed that the enemy had once again attacked Kyiv oblast with missiles and UAVs. The falling debris damaged 3 private houses and 2 cars, causing forest litter and dry grass fires in three regions. The hits to critical or residential infrastructure were not detected.

KCMA reported that russian troops launched another missile attack on Kyiv overnight. More than a dozen cruise missiles, about ten ballistic missiles and an attack drone were destroyed in the airspace of the capital.

Debris fell in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Dniprovskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts. As a result of the russian attack, cars, small shops, a subway station, a boiler house were damaged, and a fire broke out on the territory of a business enterprise. Debris was also found on the territory of two kindergartens in Desnianskyi and Dniprovskyi districts. Three victims were detected, a 32-year-old man and a 19-year-old girl were hospitalised with injuries.

Refat Chubarov, Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, informed that the building of the Islamic Cultural Centre (mosque in Nyvky) in Kyiv was damaged as a result of large-scale shelling by the russian federation.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko announced that as a result of a missile attack by russia before the start of the new school year, windows in two schools in the capital were damaged. However, the educational process in these schools has started. These are educational institutions in Shevchenkivskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts. Utility companies are working to repair the damage as soon as possible.

On 2 September, 372,000 pupils and students went to 950 institutions in the capital. In particular, 58,000 children went to kindergartens and 281,000 to schools.

KCMA reported that over the past 2 years, the capacity of shelters in Kyiv’s educational institutions has increased by 94,000 places. Today, the shelters can accommodate 317,000 people. The locations include backup lighting, power supplies, ventilation and Wi-Fi.

According to Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the Regional Military Administration, 209 out of 245 damaged and destroyed educational institutions in Kyiv oblast have already been restored. Despite the challenges, all schools in the region will operate in offline and mixed mode this year.

Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that the new school year began in the rebuilt Borodianka Lyceum №1. It is now the Lithuanian-Ukrainian Lyceum, where 540 children have returned to their desks. The lyceum was almost completely destroyed by the russian occupiers. International partners from the Republic of Lithuania helped restore it and build a shelter.

Last week, Brazilian journalists and authors visited Kyiv to discuss cooperation with Ukraine as part of the “In Solidarity With Ukraine” programme. They took part in a discussion at PEN Ukraine on possible points of contact between Brazil and Ukraine. The Brazilian authors also visited Yahidne village in Chernihiv oblast, where they saw the school basement where the russian occupiers held 368 civilians in March 2022.

On 31 August, the Ukrainian Women’s Guard joined a charity concert and fair in Borodianka. The event brought together caring people for a common goal – to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The fair featured a variety of handmade products, from unique souvenirs to exquisite culinary delights. Thanks to joint efforts, a significant amount of money was raised for the needs of the Ukrainian military. 

Zhytomyr oblast

Zhytomyroblenerho reported that emergency power outages have been introduced in the Zhytomyr oblast. Unannounced power cuts are introduced as a matter of urgency to protect the power grid from significant technological damage.

There are 12 psychological support spaces in three border communities in Zhytomyr oblast – Olevsk, Narodychi and Slovechne. They provide free help to overcome stress to those who have experienced difficult life stories, including those caused by the full-scale invasion of russian troops. A social project with financial support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is being implemented in the region by the In Touch Ukraine Foundation NGO.

Sumy oblast

Yurii Zarko, Head of Bilopillia community, reported that on 2 September, around 3am, the russian army shelled Bilopillia with a guided aerial bomb. The bomb hit a two-story building.

The enemy forces also attacked Hurynivka with guided bombs and cluster munitions, striking the local cultural centre. Later, they hit the village again, injuring a man who was subsequently hospitalised.

Morocha village in Bilopillia community also came under fire, with several houses damaged.

Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that on 1 September, around 8:50pm, the russian army launched a missile strike on a residential area in Sumy. The missile hit a children’s home surrounded by apartment buildings. Fortunately, no children were present at the time. Eighteen residents of nearby buildings were injured, including three boys aged 7, 9, and 13, three girls aged 7, 15, and 17, nine women, and three men. Additionally, six apartment buildings and Sumy Oblast Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of Children were damaged.

During night and morning, russians carried out 22 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 80 explosions. The attacks targeted Sumy, Yunakivka, Krasnopillia, Bilopillia. Khotin, Richky, Esman, Hlukhiv, Seredyna-Buda communities.

Chernihiv oblast

Throughout the day, the russian army shelled six villages in three border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siversk, Semenivka, and Snovsk. The attacks involved artillery and mortars, also the enemy used  FPV drones and explosive devices dropped from UAVs. Border guards recorded a total of 68 explosions.

Novhorod-Siversk community:

1 explosion, likely by FPV-drone towards Hremiach.

4 explosions, likely by a 120mm mortar nearby Yasna Poliana village. 

Semenivka community:

2 explosions, likely by a 120mm mortar towards Hremiachka. 

Snovsk community:

3 explosions, likely by artillery and two explosions, likely explosive devices dropped from  UAVs towards Kliusy.

5 explosions, likely FPV-drones and 22 explosions, likely by a 120mm mortar nearby Khrinivka village.

1 explosion, likely by dropping explosive devices from UAVs and 16 explosions, likely by artillery and 12 explosions from rocket artillery in Yeline village.

No casualties or injuries among the local population were reported as a result of the shelling.

According to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, the movement of organic substances from the Saim River is gradually slowing down. As of 1 September, they have been detected 92 kilometres from the point where the Saim flows into the Desna River. The distance to Chernihiv is now 74 kilometres. Residents of Chernihiv are advised to refrain from swimming in the Desna River and from using its water due to the contamination of the Saim River. Six tons of dead fish have been collected from the Saim and Desna rivers in the Chernihiv region.

Yurii Muzyka, Head of the Department of Education and Science of Chernihiv Oblast State Administration, reported that on 2 September, 2024, 379 general secondary education institutions began operating in Chernihiv oblast, with 88,000 students enrolled, which is 2,500 fewer than in 2023. According to Yurii Muzyka, out of the 88,000 students, more than 53,000 will attend classes in person, while nearly 10,000 students will remain in distance learning. The proximity to the border makes it impossible to fully transition to in-person learning. In the 20km border zone, all educational institutions, both secondary and preschool, are operating online.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the Regional Council, announced that the occupiers attacked Nikopol from evening until morning. They hit the city with artillery and kamikaze drones. Also, 6 enemy drones were shot down by the Air Defence Forces over the region at night.

The occupiers once again terrorised residents of Nikopol region. 4 women were injured in the regional centre. An 84-year-old woman was hospitalised in serious condition. 3 more women aged 59, 43 and 38 will be treated at home. In total, about one and a half dozen attacks were carried out in the region. Artillery and kamikaze drones hit the regional centre, Marhanets and Pokrovsk communities. There were several fires, the infrastructure was damaged, 2 private houses, 5 country houses and an outbuilding.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​Vinnytsia City Council reported that the municipality sent the 1st batch of FPV drones to the fighters of the newly created rifle division of the National Police. 

In Vinnytsia, the lyceum of security orientation and national-patriotic education began its work. Lyceum students will train to become law enforcement officers, rescuers, and military personnel.

Kirovohrad oblast

34-year-old Volodymyr Yastrebov from Petrivka community, Oleksandriia region was killed while performing a combat mission in Kursk oblast, russian federation. In peaceful life, he worked as a locksmith, a tractor driver on a farm. He was mobilised to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a sanitary scout on 20 May 2023. He fought in Donetsk oblast.

Poltava oblast

Filip Pronin, Head of Poltava RMA, announced that at night, the russians attacked Poltava oblast with anti-aircraft missiles. The wreckage of the drone damaged the administrative and production building of one of the industrial enterprises of the oblast.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, announced that the Air Defense Forces shot down an enemy missile in the sky over the oblast. As a result of falling debris, dry vegetation in the open area caught fire.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Yesterday, the occupiers launched 171 attacks on 10 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces carried out four airstrikes on Lobkove, Piatykhatky and Novoandriivka. A total of 95 drones of various modifications attacked Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka, Novodanylivka and Poltavka. Three MLRS strikes hit Huliaipole, Novodanylivka and Robotyne. There were 69 artillery shellings on the territories of Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka, Preobrazhenka, Novodanylivka and Poltavka. Nine reports were received about the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure

Today, more than 46,000 students in Zaporizhzhia oblast began their studies in schools across the region. According to Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, 122 schools will operate offline.

According to the General Staff, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions towards Orikhiv but did carry out airstrikes on Novoandriivka and Mala Tokmachka.

Mykolaiv oblast

On the night of 2 September, air defence forces destroyed two Shahed 131/136 drones in Mykolaiv oblast.

Yesterday, on 1 September, the enemy attacked Kutsurub community twice with FPV drones and three times with artillery. As a result of these attacks, four residential buildings were damaged in the village of Solonchaky. Additionally, one of the shellings caused a fire in dry grass on open terrain, which was promptly extinguished by firefighters.

The 2024/2025 school year began in the lyceums and gymnasiums of Mykolaiv oblast. Currently, 419 general secondary education institutions are operating in the oblast, with 101,662 students enrolled. Approximately 75% of children have started classes in either in-person or mixed formats.

The Biloberezhzhia Sviatoslava National Nature Park in Mykolaiv oblast is suffering losses due to кussian shelling and hot weather. As of 1 September, 2024, between 3 and 4.5 million trees have been damaged in the russian-occupied Kinburn area. According to Pavlo Kholodniak, Deputy Director of the Biloberezhzhia Sviatoslava National Nature Park, the burned areas on the Kinburn Peninsula are increasing almost daily.

Odesa oblast

As of 6am on 2 September, there were no enemy ships in the Black and Azov Seas. There are two enemy ships in the Mediterranean Sea, one of which is armed with Kalibr cruise missiles, with a total volley capacity of up to eight missiles.

11 ships passed through the Kerch Strait into the Black Sea over the past day, and another 10 ships entered the Sea of Azov, serving the interests of the russian federation.

Kherson oblast

Today, around 1pm, ussian forces attacked the village of Kindiika, where two people were hit: a 56-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man.  Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that the man died in the hospital. Later, around 2pm, russians launched another attack on Kindiika, injuring a 52-year-old man who sustained an explosive injury and a shrapnel wound to his thigh.

In the afternoon, russian occupation forces shelled Kherson, injuring an 18-year-old girl who was in the yard of her house. She suffered an explosive injury and a shrapnel wound to her forearm.

Yesterday, russian troops shelled Beryslav and Kherson regions using artillery, multiple rocket launchers, and drones. As a result of the russian aggression, two people were injured. The shelling affected Kherson, Antonivka, Sadove, Blahovishchenske, Kizomys, Pryozerne, Stanislav, Oleksandrivka, Kachkarivka and Havrylivka. Damage was reported to 24 private and 10 multi-apartment buildings, a university building, a school, a kindergarten, a bank building, a health complex and two cars.

During the night drone attack, air defense forces shot down two Shahed-131/136 drones in Kherson oblast.

It is reported that russian invaders attacked Ukrainian positions twice on the Prydniprovskyi front, but were met with a strong response, suffering losses and retreating.

It was confirmed that the enemy’s personnel decreased by 52 over the past day. 14 units of weapons and military equipment were destroyed. Additionally, two field supply buildups, two fuel storage sites, one observation post, six bunkers and one enemy checkpoint were hit.

Starting 1 September, the occupiers established an exclusion zone on the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson oblast. The 15-kilometer exclusion zone along the Dnipro River was created after most of the population was deported, and entry is now allowed only with special permits. From 1 September, anyone found in the zone without a permit will be arrested. Since yesterday, Rosgvardiya militants have been conducting raids searching for “illegals”, targeting residents.

Last week, a mobile medical team from the Fortitude UA charity visited seven settlements in Beryslav region. Residents of Novopavlivka, Pervomaiske, Bila Krynytsia, Mala Shestirnia, Novohryhorivka, Zahradivka and Pryhiria were able to receive free consultations and examinations from a family doctor, neurologist, ophthalmologist, endocrinologist, and cardiologist. In total, over 700 residents received medical assistance.

Volyn oblast

Attractions for children and adults were held in Lutsk. School psychologists of the Department of Education of Lutsk City Council presented the latest services in the education system. Representatives and volunteers of Lutsk Health Center informed and warned children and parents about the consequences of bad habits. Also, specialists of the Fox House Sustainability Center conducted master classes on weaving patriotic bracelets, aqua grime for children, art therapy Paint Your Life With Joy and hands-on modelling lessons Let’s Sculpt Dreams Together. At the same time, parents gained new knowledge and skills regarding mental health care.

Zakarpattia oblast

The RMA reported that in Uzhhorod, families of the fallen defenders of the 33rd Separate Mechanised Brigade were awarded posthumous awards.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The RMA reported that for relatives of fallen defenders, a one-day sightseeing tour was held in Halytskyi National Natural Park as part of the Care for the Hero’s Family project.

Lviv oblast

Volunteers of the Medical and Psychological Assistance who, on the initiative of Lviv RMA, have been meeting IDPs since the 1st days of the full-scale war, reported that from 26 August to 1 September, 270 people arrived in Lviv oblast from settlements located near zones of active hostilities. Most of them are people from Pokrovsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.

A cultural and educational centre with a shelter that can accommodate up to 650 children was opened in Zapytovo. 100 students will study in the centre. 10 large classrooms, a modern choreographic hall, dressing rooms, showers and bathrooms were arranged for them.

A memorial plaque to fighter pilot Andrii Tkachenko was opened in Sambor. A memorial sign was installed on the facade of the elementary school where the fallen Hero studied. With the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, he defended eastern and southern regions of Ukraine as a fighter pilot. Major Andrii Tkachenko was killed on 8 March, 2024 in Donetsk oblast while performing a combat mission.

Roman Hlushyk, from the village of Drohomyshi, was awarded with the III degree For Courage Order. He served in the 72nd Separate Mechanised Brigade named after Black Zaporozhets of the Military Unit A2167. He was killed in the fall of 2022.

Rivne oblast

During the 921 days of the war, there were 712 air raids in Rivne oblast. There were a total of 17 alarms in August (27 in July); the longest, which was on 26 August (lasted 5 h 41 min); the shortest – 28 August (11 min); the alarm was announced 4 times during the day on 27 August; the maximum number of days without sirens is 5 (14-20 August).

In 68 schools of Rivne oblast, officers of the Educational Security Service have started work. As reported by the regional police, 33 policemen will serve in educational institutions of Rivne and 35 lyceums of the border – Varasha and Sarna region. The key task of the officers is to ensure the appropriate level of security in schools through the prevention of offences and the coordination of the access regime. Officers will also deal with bullying, communicate with emergency services and respond to offences.

Ternopil oblast

49 Ternopil military personnel will receive a one-time financial aid for the provision of equipment and technical means in the total amount of UAH 490,000. Since the beginning of the year, 2,747 defenders of Ternopil community have already received such assistance.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi community sent equipment worth almost UAH 7.5m to the military.

Chernivtsi oblast

The Recruiting Center of the Ukrainian army was opened in Chernivtsi. This is a pilot project of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, designed to build a transparent and effective model of attracting citizens to military service, so that primarily motivated and trained fighters get there. There are already 33 such Centres operating in Ukraine, including the one in Bukovyna. On the basis of the Recruiting Center, citizens have the opportunity to independently choose the military profession and unit in which they will serve. Volunteers can join not only units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but also other components of the Security and Defense Forces, such as the National Guard or the State Border Service.

Public mass media of Latvia collected funds for the purchase of the first batch of drones, which will be sent to the Armed Forces, during the Ukrainian Independence Day campaign Thoughts and Affairs with Ukraine. In the 1st weeks of the Latvian public mass media campaign, the population donated over EUR 184,000 to support the Armed Forces. This funds was enough to order the 1st 50 drones for Ukraine.

Jan Lipavsky, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, announced that his country has no objections to strikes by the Armed Forces deep into the russian federation, but long-range weapons are supplied by other countries.

Shchepan Twardoh, Polish writer, banned the publication of his novel The King in russia until the end of the war in Ukraine after the russians wounded a Polish volunteer and journalist with a rocket in Kramatorsk.

The Australia Post, national postal operator of Australia, has issued a stamp in support of Ukraine, which will be available for purchase at the country’s post offices in the near future.

On the embankment of the Seine (Paris, France), a large-scale TITANIUM photo exhibition about Ukrainians who suffered severe injuries as a result of the war is underway. The author of the photos is Yurii Bilak, French photographer of Ukrainian origin. The goal of the project is to show Ukrainians who, despite mine and explosion injuries, demonstrate their resilience and determination to the whole world every day. Among them are children and adults, civilians and the military.
